I'm running Jachero 2.7.3
for some reason when I try to use bettercut to create a shortcut on my homescreen...once I select the program...change the icon...etc. it never shows up on my screen. Help?

Same thing with me i don't know why it wont work
the framework / touchflo home launcher is different from the "tradition" android homescreen so therefore bettercut isn't recognizing the rosise aka touchflo so therefore it isn't working.
its the APP, not the ROM thats causing this problem, its a big bummer i know.

Wouldn't would since having compcache you have the ability to have "home" shouldn't it work on there then since there not rosie?

well actually, im currently using the "Launcher.apk" while running the JAC 2.7.4 rom and bettercut works on it
just doesn't work with "Rosie.apk" home.

nah i used the same one that JAC included in his build, i haven't tried to pus that modified launcher with the ablility to choose # of screens.
also that launcher isn't "hero themed" so i didn't really like it gonna wait for devs to theme it also

thats actually why i wanted it... have my rosie thats hero n "home" thats none hero... haha. I love the speed of it, n the sexyness of rosie

ya, i spoke with the dev of bettercut and he told me he is working on getting bettercut to work with hero, its just a matter of time. he got better keyboard, now bettercuts next.
Try using OpenHome on Hero- you can skin it out to the Hero style (or standard) all you want, change icons, better cut works with it as well. Plus you get 7 home screens and a couple other nice features.

yea but we want to keep rosie running and change the icons.. hope the bettercut for hero comes out very soon. thanks for the info
You can run multiple launchers on the same device. I'm currently running Rosie- but I like the Hero icons personally.
Hopefully the BetterCut dev gets that worked out soon.

Hey I was looking for a new ROM on my new G1. I would like something with a nice digital clock widget, a messaging widget, and just many downloadable widgets. My brother has Hero on his G1 and I love, the only problem is that I don't like the fact that if you slide it up it just freezes... So are there any somewhat similar to Hero but can slide?

As of right now, no. This is because the actual Hero doesn't have the keyboard, and so when you slide it up, it tries to force Rosie into widescreen which it doesn't support, ergo, the crash. You'll just have to live with it. However, Drizzy has been making some progress with that and has actually gotten Rosie to run with the keyboard open though it crashes and then reloads Rosie when you open the keyboard. He said he'd look into it more so follow his twitter for more info.
EDIT: Forgot to say. Hero ROM's are the only one with a messaging widget. You can download the Digital Clock widget from the market for a small price. I don't know the name of the widget exactly, just do a search for it in the theme section, it was mentioned in there a few times i believe.
There aren't any messaging widgets like the one on the Hero roms. You can download ANY widget to any rom though, just search the market for widgets and see what you find. Hero shouldn't freeze when you "slide up" whatever that means, if your talking about the keyboard when your on the home screen that is because they don't rotate, only in programs. If you mean some other type of slide then most likely your brother didn't do a proper linux-swap partition or it is to small. Anyway you need to just try the different roms and see what you like best, also some themes offer extra widgets and features but remember you can get any widget to any rom, just not the Hero/HTC Rosie widgets because HTC's stuff is closed source so we can't port it.

The modded ones are the best ones. The unmodded original is veryyyyy slow compared to the new ones. I would try JACHeroski 2.1 or MoDaCo 1.51 are both fast, stable choices.

All heros are technically "experimental". I haven't messed with the new Drizzy. I'm still putting JacHeroSki 2.1 throught it's paces. I can recommend it. There are people who like each of the different incarnations of hero.
What I suggest is going to the DEV section and read. Decide on your own. Hell, you can flash them all with switchrom. Have some fun and learn some cool stuff.

this is Jachero. his stuff works great. if you dont like this try jacxrom1.5. it isnt hero but runs great and has a great looking theme.

got hero and switchrom working. i still like jacxrom best. but it is cool to ba able to switch when i get the whim. i have cayn 4.0.4, xrom 1.5r3, and this tinyhero i found. it seams to run faster than most other hero roms. tho it has been striped down alot.

Switchrom for the win. Seriously.. haha Yeah JACxRom is pretty decent. But as far as hero have you tried HERO2 - Freedom of choice? If not I think you'll be impressed. I flash FoC when it was first released and it wasn't anything to write home about but now? Dang.. it's fast. Wicked Fast. Try it out!

No...The frameworks are differnt so you cant..The eclair hero lockscreen is better then the 1.5 hero's.Also dont even bother trying to install the lockscreen's apk since it wont work.You can wait for AOSP 2.0 or stick with what you have now.Or! upgrade to a new HTC phone like Legend/Bravo/Passion/Nexus well you get the point.

Yeah, I saw the nexus on engadget and I plan on getting it. but that is in the future and this is now.

I tried the 2.1 ROM from kingklick and what i really liked was the Lockscreen. Since i take many Pictures and Videos i had to return to a 1.6 version.
I tried to Google nuit i didn`t find anything:
Is there a way to have the 2.1 Lockscreen on the G1 with a 1.6 OS?

I've looked through the lockscreen code in eclair, there's nothing there that's missing from 1.6 that would impede a simple port, so it's doable. However, you think somebody wants to do that instead of just jumping straight to eclair?

AnderWeb does. He's already helped in porting 2.1 music player (with eliot stocker) and a 2.1-like launcher, to 1.6...

Definitely, who knows when we'll get proper drivers for eclair for our phones. Till then i would be very content with key features of eclair on donut roms. U have my vote.
i use lockbot free as my lockscreen and its perfect for me. I just deleted all the other screens except the Flan screen.

For me, Lockbot sucks. Lags like crazy, I load it up and I see my home screen, then the lock. The current version has begun with the freezes on my notification bar. I liked lock 2.0 but that didn't have much features nor did it auto start
Lockbot pro is nearly perfect.
But I wont use that app because of the fact that the unlock screen is kept on for two minutes. This is ridiculous.
I want my display timeout but not the unlock screen-display timeout set to two minutes.

me and ander didnt port the 2.1 muisc player someone else did that, i just added new features and ander gave me a litrtle help along the way.
however me and ander are working on a new lockscreen, that is gonna be better than the 2.1 one! so shhhhhhh
So I have looked around for lockscreen mods for CM6 and I haven't found any. I know there are a lot for things like Fresh with the rotary lockscreen. Something similar to the following would be amazing:

I know some of these images are in our roms, cm6 roms at least. The 2 button rotary looks cool, I am gonna flash it BRB may take a few, might have to nandroid back LOL.

Dont look good for the home team I got boot looped after the flash. I know some of the images for this are already in our roms, it would prob just need to be edited/ported over. I cant help you there, sorry. I would like to see the 2 button option if anybody knows how to fix this

Yeah but it was worth a shot There must have been a idea to include these lock screens on cm6.1 at one time because the rotary arrows for the lock screen are in the current cm6.1 rom!
well, ive been reading around, and the current CM6.1.1 has the rotary lockscreen somewhere in the options. i dont want to use a sense rom just to get this super awesome feature. i would die without the notification toggles. so, if we can get the piece from the new source, then things will be good, right?

Not sure what you mean? Cm6 isn't sense based... And yes, the most recent cm's have the option to use the standard sliders or the rotary.

no, i mean that the mods in the OP are for 2.1 sense based roms. im running cm6.1, and i dont want to go to the sense roms just for a lockscreen. i use the notification widgets too much for me to live without them now. but i was messing around in the cyanogen github, and i think i found some of the new parts for the rotary lockscreen... but i dont know what to do with them. i have little programming/system knowledge to this extent, so yeah.

Why would you need to do anything as the rotary lock is already built into cm as early as nightly 187? Unless you are using an older version, the option is in cm settings.
