Ok so I have installed the Live Wallpaper packages in this order (extracted from this ROM....http://db.androidspin.com/androidspin_filedownload.asp?release=166&type=1)
1) Live Wallpapers Picker
2) Live Wallpapers
3) Visualization Wallpapers
4) MagicSmokeWallpapers
So on Home++ or Home when you click Wallpapers>Live Wallpapers, and then when you try to choose a Live Wallpaper (even one from the market) it will say "The application Live Wallpaper Picker (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Any guesses?
I have one. Did you notice the Native Developement Kit for android was released? Meaning, more than likely, the live wallpapers rely on a C or C++ backend written with the NDK. So, enough said, it probably *wont* work without a custom ROM.

Okay, I bricked my phone. Is there a method to unbrick?
I do not believe there is a way to unbrick your phone if you really have. How exactly did you manage that?

Reboot into the menu where you flash the phone. Only option was hboot. didn't want to do that. So after it read the image, menu was waiting for me to click the trackball to confirm <Action> Yes. Instead, I powered off. Now it won't power on nor even charge.
Yeah, sounds to me like you definitely bricked your phone. You can ask around more. But I Honestly do not think you can unbrick your phone. Basically its like your phone has no brain now and does not know what to do.

Okay, turns out that I dirtied the battery sensor and that was the reason for it not starting. So, not bricked!
But still I can't change the default FC'ing from Launcher2. Any way to get into the applications menu to change it? Recovery Mode doesn't work. Just a picture of an exclamation point and the android bot.
Must I flash again? Dang.
Im not going to try and recreate this one but when it loads to the force close try pressing and holding the home button and see if you can get into any thing else, if you time the close button right you should be able to get to something else...thats if anything else boots up with launcher2 set as default...
This goes to prove it doesnt work on these phones...

Tried. The small box in the center appears, quickly displays a message saying something to the effect of, "No Recent Applications" and then disappears.
BTW, other background processes are running. Examples, I get wifi notifications, login error notifications (Gmail), and I can access these and their settings, but I cannot find a way to get to the Applications Settings to change the default.
regis_star: You should be able to reinstall the 2.1 from your SD card as per the original instructions and it will fix your problem. Granted it will reset your phone but if you want it to be usable you may have to do this anyways.

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to disable the Samsung lockscreen? I just upgraded to JM2 and the new Samsung lockscreen is actually quite annoying.
I'm thinking of using Widget Locker as my new lockscreen but sometimes you still get "flashes" of the Samsung lockscreen in the background (and other times the Samsung one just completely overrides the default lockscreen).
It would be nice to be able to disable it altogether.
No Lock
http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock
Yeah for older firmwares i could unlock the phone by swiping about halfway through the screen but with jm2 i have to like like 3/4+ for it to unlock, much more inconvenient
I found the name GlassLockScreen in Logcat. And now im workin on removing it...
And its not in /system/app
I would love to be able to use the standard Eclair lock screen
Looks like this is an overwrite. Cuzz there is no VanillaLockScreen apk of any kind on the ROM...
P.S. Im working on a costum ROM, and i will enable VanillaLockScreen.
Sigh...just flashed the phone twice over the last two day. Would be good if we can enable the default lockscreen without reflashing?
The device is rooted so replacing system files will not be an issue...
Working on it. Dont have much time, but ill try unpack the rom today and check if this could be done. Not sure cuzz oz the notifications and alarm on the lockscreen..
Anything new?
If you already found sth, pls post it, then i can search too..
Want to kill this damn lockscreen..
The png' for the lock-screen is located in framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi
The latest version is way worse than the stock. Lets hope there is away to enable stock android lock-screen.
I dont have such a path/folder...

Ty
So currently i am downloading the I9000 sources, to look where/when the pngs are loaded..
Ok, so this is what i found out..
I downloaded the opensource sw from samsung but i didnt find where the unlock pictures are loaded (used grep to search threw files).
Then i started adb logcat and this are the outputs when you enable the lockscreen:
D/GlassLockScreen( 2253): GlassLock onPause
.....
D/GlassLockScreen( 2253): GlassLock onResume

And i thought the id, is the pid and this pid is currently this

I dont think it would be a good idea to kill this process
So i guess the /system/bin/system_server
and /system/lib/libsystem_server.so have sth todo with it..
Either it starts the a process for the lockscreen or it has the lockscreen in it..
Because in the libsystem is this
system_init.startsurfaceflinger
System server: starting Android services.
com/android/server/SystemServer init2 System server: entering thread pool.
Click to collapse
Maybe it is just a starting service..
Any updates on this?
I really liked the vanilla lockscreen with option to set volume to off but more importantly the vanilla contains things like alarm time and minutes left to alarm.
Anyone with any info?
Regards
/Fredrik
I use a pattern unlock for this very reason
Is it possible just to revert the glass screen unlock behaviour back to june time firmwares? where you only had to drag over half the screen? I'd be happy with that! (altho a fully functioning vanilla lockscreen would be cool too!)
If you want to completely disable the lockscreen without any apps for it.
Phone -> *#*#7594#*#* -> Check shutdown.
No more lockscreen for you. Oh and when u restart, there will be no PIN prompt as well untill you uncheck Shutdown, and then lock , wait 3 seconds, unlock, enter PIN, go back, Enable shutdown again.
i want to get rid of the lock also, although i am using nolock at the moment

Hey guys!
I'm wondering on how to remove the TouchWiz lockscreen because I'm about to use Lockbot wich act buggy with TW Lockscreen, it shows the TW Lockscreen before switching over to Lockbot.
Is there an APK somewhere i can remove to get rid of TouchWiz lockscreen (the one with the puzzle sliding etc.) ?
Thanks in advance masters!

Thank you for your reply, the problem is I cannot use Lockbot now because the TW Lockesreen messes it up. Also on Exlair (Android 2.1) it is not possible to set up a passcode, FroYo is needed for that plus this won't fix my Lockbot issue either. I alreafy did some diging in the APK folders but couldn't really sort it out. You are on FroYo I believe? It is possible to set a SIM pincode but that doesnt help aswell.
PEACE!
The free app NoLock will remove your lockscreen entirely, if you press power/home to wake your phone it will immediately be unlocked. There are several apps on the market to replace your lockscreen with a different style but in my experience these aren't completely satisfying - sometimes the original lockscreen appears for a splitsecond, other times they're just not as responsive and may take a second longer for you to unlock the phone.
Regardless, just try searching the market for 'lockscreen' and see what you find. WidgetLocker is pretty good but not free.
Indeed I am on Froyo, I wasn't aware it isn't available on eclair. Well, if anyone else finds further development besides market apps that seem to slightly lag please help out!

Download SGS INFO on the forum here install and run the app selecting set powerbutton action. Select the tickbox and this will permantly disable the lock screen until you select otherwise.
The beauty if this is that it doesnt use a 3rd party app to do this just provides a shortcut to hidden options within the SGS.
Hope this helps.

You can also easily revert back to the stock lock (...and two smoking barrels! ) screen by modifying the code in /system/framework/android.policy.odex.

i installed the app. but when i choose set powerbutton action, i have only this one on the list :
shutdown: enable to shutdown on end call long press.
thats not right or ?
which code must i enter to disable lockscreen.
and would it be the same code to reactivate the stock lock screen ?

when i tick off the shutdown option, then 3 things happen:
1. the question if i really want to shut down my phone is gone. (i think this is the real action, what it does)
2. when i restart my phone, the sim card is not accepted, its even not asked for pin. i tried 3 times, so its not working
3. the lockscreen is gone.
so i need an other option, maybe i will deinstall it completly.
or has someone an other suggestion ?

Hello I'm kinda of a noob to this stuff (not kinda really lol) and I was wondering where can I locate this sgs download on the forum
Well this one isn't so difficult but I though I'd share for those that have not worked it out yet.
The LG Device Test "HiddenMenu" is apparently on all shipping phones and it's simply disabled via removing the menu entry.
To activate you need to create a shortcut to this hidden menu. You can do this with most replacement launchers and apps like BetterCut.
Example using LauncherPro (others will use a similar method):
Long press on home screen
Select Shortcuts
Select Activities
Scroll down to and expand com.lge.hiddenmenu
Select HiddenMenu (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Also now Logcat app:
As above
Scroll down to and expand LG Debug
Select LG Debug (first entry)
Enter Shortcut name
Click on shortcut to launch
Hit 'Thanks' below
Enjoy the vast amount of options and tests in there, and be careful as some are destructive.
Perhaps Useful:
Dim Capacitive Buttons: Device Test | Touch LED Brightness
Turn on Camera LED: Device Test | Camera Test | Torch Flashlight Preview
Wtf I just dimmed my touch buttons nice.
The brightess of the buttons was to bright for using the phone as a ebook reader at night the setting stays avyive even after exiting the test.
Btw is the thanks button only displayed on the site and not in tge xda app?
Thanx!

I don't think I get the former, but certainly dodgy behaviour immediately after boot.
I have started getting the message count now when the stock screen flashes up. It seems to count all messages, read or otherwise.
Perhaps somebody can start a confirmed & common bugs thread in General for a good collection of them.
Some more:
I can't use a long complex password to connect to a WiFi-G AP, but a simple password works just fine.
Music controls return to notification shade sometimes after a reboot, box in Music app is still unchecked.

Hi,
When i upgraded my phone to ICS, it used to set wallpapers as i crop them (at any size, any length or width) and it also appeared exactly the same size on home screen as i crop it. But now for some reason, that i dont know, it has stopped doing that and use the same method as before i.e. predefined length-width + zoomed wallpaper on home screen.
Is there any option or a method to revert back it to setting custom sized wallpaper?
Please i dont want any 3rd software to do this because i believe there must be some genuine way to solve this problem as once i restarted my phone and i got the desired wallpaper cropping settings. But now it restarting phone also doesnt help.
Please help me for this. My phone is not rooted yet. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!

I just tried setting an image as my wallpaper. The first time I did it asked me to scale/crop it down to where I'd like it to be. I did that, and didn't like how it looked so wanted to go back and rescale. Well, every time I go back and try to set it as wallpaper again, it doesn't give me the option to scale/crop it how I'd like. What do I need to do to get that option back?

So going that way it brings it up and lets me zoom in by pinch zooming if I want, but it never brings up the little box that I can move around and scale the corners for cropping/scale as needed. It just says "Set wallpaper" at the top with a check mark to push and I can only zoom in farther on the image that it is.
(I can do the above in any of the previous mentioned ways as well, was just explaining more. Basically going through settings changed nothing and does it the same as any other way)
