sprite backup contacts trouble - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I backed up my contacts, call history and text with sprite.
When I restore everything looks great BUT when I make a call the call shows up as "unknown" and all new history (and text) show up as the number and doesn't reference the contacts database.
Anyone know how to fix this... this is the second rom I've had this issue on.
I'm sure the answer is out there and I have searched... just such an odd thing to try and figure out keywords to form an effective query.

I also faced the similar issue.
There will be contacts list but it will not match when i make the call.
My assumption is do not install the backup.exe file directly first install the sprite backup cab file. then ren the backup.
It has worked for me. try to install the same version of the cab in which the backup is taken

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately, that didn't work.

I ended up using a pimbackup for the contacts (which would lock up importing my text) so I used Sprite for my text. Dirty but it worked.

Also, Sprite back up does not work from WM version to version. You cannot do a system back up in 6.0 and restore in 6.1 or 6.1 to 6.5.

THAT must be the problem!
Thanks for that info... luckily I backed it up several ways.

I would recommend trying SPB Backup. Works well for me, far better results than Sprite. Also 3G backup for contacts & sms is a useful tool.

Contacts not Restored from Active Sync Backup After Upgrade

Hi guys, I did have a quick search to try and find answers to these but couldn't find anything relevant.
I have an O2 XDAIIi and upgraded to the Modified_XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.03 yesterday.
The upgrade went fine and the restore seems to have put everything back except my contacts. It's not a huge problem (I can enter them again I guess) but I wondered if there was some way of getting them back more easily?
What's weird is if I look at my call list (which did restore ok) then I can see the numbers and names of people who called me recently, but if I go to add them to my contact list by clicking and holding the number, the "Save to contacts" option is greyed out. It's almost like they are there but just aren't being displayed.
Any ideas? Should I do anything differently next time in regards to how I back-up, like use something other than Active Sync?
Also I wanted the corporate install (as I heard thats more stable) but it prompted me for a validation code, where does one obtain one of these?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Anyone able to offer some advice on this? It would be a really big help.
Even if it's just how to backup contacts more reliably for next time. :?
I think that 2i has an inbuilt backup utility (at least my one has it) Settings->System->Permanent Save. There you can just choose what to backup.
Or, in Programs->XBackup, or you can just use Sprite Backup.
Ok thanks for the advice.
I'll try them next time. Seems odd that Active Sync can't do it. And weird that the contacts are kind of there (it lists names on my call register) but not listed in Contacts. :?

saving threaded messages

Hi there!
as o2 germay now released another software update for the shiny diamond, i'm
going to install it today the whole backup thing is done, but there is one little
point i'm not quite sure about. is it possible to save the complete messages in
their threaded dialogues? i hope you understand what i'm talking about the
message backup is done by pimbackup. when i revert backups done by
pimbackup, the messages are all there, but not in there dialouges i can see
what everybody wrote to me, but i can't see what i have answered ...
can anybody help with that ?
cheers!
PimBackup doesn't save the threading unfortunately and i haven't seen any other decent backup programs
i hope someone else can help as i need it too!
Sprite backup will backup and restore your messages preserving the correct threading.
Where did you find this "new" update?
There's only the old 1.93.207.2 ROM on their Site?

Backup call logs

What is the best progam to enable me to backup all my call logs, i.e. numbers dialled, numbers received plus my text inbox/sent items and let me restore them after I've upgraded my phones ROM?
There is a program called PIMbackup I believe but am not sure if that's what I need and is any good?
PIMBackup is working great
i am using version 2.5 (but the newer is the 2.8 it seems)
with it you can backup calls, sms, mails and everything
(first use backup mode, that create a PIM file, than you can use RESTORE mode to restore the pim file)
a must after each hard reset!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705 i think this is the therad for pimbackup
Thank You I'll try it.
Are there any decent alternatives in case I don't like this program?
Try Jeyo Mobile Companion

Backup SMS

Hi guys.
well my issue is that i have 2 phones which i both use, an diamond and an iphone.
my question, is there any chance to save the sms from the diamond and put them into the iphone?????
there are tons of program to backup the sms's on a wm device you can use search to find them
problem is that iphone is a pretty closed system never even heard of a program which can backup and restore it's own sms's so
getting a program which can restore sms's from any of those formats
the various wm sms backup programs use is even less likely
but if i were you i'd google around to see if i could find a iphone sms restore program
and see if i got some hits on programs which would restore other sources then
the ones backup from the iphone
damn i really need this, i need my messages
any ideas?

new to topaz.. issue on restoring/sent message

Hi all
Got my topaz phone just yesterday, it is magnificent!
But I am upgrading from a Eten X500+ phone, after I tried to restore messages from my old phone to the new one, the new one now cannot record any new sent messages.
In my opinion, this can be the backup program... I used spb backup. I may doing something with the file attributes in order to make it record sent messages again. But which file?
My x500+ is already dead so I have no way going back and do the backup again, unfortunately
Please advice
Thanks
Unfortunately it looks like SPB Backup might be the problem. The eten was Windows Mobile 5 I believe? And the Diamond 2 is 6.1, so there may have been differences between folder locations / formats between the two. My understanding is that SPB Backup makes an exact copy of the database from the old phone and dumps it on the new phone. Perhaps thats where the problem lies.
I routinely use PIM Backup to save and restore text messages from one phone to another, or in the case of flashing a new ROM. I'd recommend using it in future as it extracts the individual messages in their particular folders and transplants them perfectly in the new phone. For now I think you'll just have to abandon the sent messages.
thanks for your reply.
another question, my phone showed only one of maybe 10 messages on the SIM card. Those messages where copied from my temporary cell phone last week and i would love to see my TD2 showing them. Any ideas?
try to sync your messages, contacts etc.. with microsoft's myphone. It worked fine for me
