I would very nicely ask your network administrator at your work. Buy him/her lunch!

Yup sure can...

Yup -- still no go. Passwords, links, etc... FTP not working.
My IE7 and SmartFTP Client both work. If you're using Firefox you need to get the FTP plugin. Other than that I can only suggest your firewall, etc as it's up!
if the ftp works. why is this thread still open?
thanks it was the firewall...dache turn off windows firewall and youll be set
if some of u can't access ftp then u can do it via the xda site that then brings u to the ftp site some times i have the problem that i can't access ftp but going first to xda site and clicking the link to the ftp site brings me there never had problems with this method :

How can i connect Windows Live for Windows Mobile throug a proxy server?

Hi all,
The proxy server is used in wireless system at my work. I enabled proxy server configuration in communication manager and i can connect web sites with internet explorer.
My question is, while i am unable to connect windows live messenger, there're also no proxy configuration on it. Are tehere any way to use messenger through proxy server ?
Or, i guess Windows Live for Windows Mobile is brand application came with WM6.0. Do you know may i use old messenger versions via proxy? Or do you know any other msn client with proxy support ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
you can setup the proxy in live messenger
I couldnt find any place to enter a proxy address in messenger. Could you please tell me where can i enter the proxy?
hey, I connect through a proxy for all my internet (using tmobile usa), and I was never able to figure out how to use windows live via proxy. however to download my hotmail emails I finally found a work around. you have to upgrade ur hotmail account to hotmail plus (20 dollars/year). now u have access to pop settings and set up a new email account using those settings (not through windows live) good luck
omar
I do not care mails, i even dont use hotmail for mailing.
i need to instant messaging to keep talking with my girlfriend.
You can't use a proxy server to access WLM Service from your Pocket PC. It simply doesn't support this.
The way that the client communicates with the Messenger service greatly differs when using a proxy, and support for this is not available in the mobile client. You NEED to create a direct connection, which thus prevents you from connecting in networks where using a proxy server (HTTP or SOCKS) is mandatory.
My mobile connected to Wifi but I couldnot surf WEB cause I didn't know how to setting up
my working Proxy via port 8080.
Help me!
Same problem here, but a little diferent.
I connect to the proxy server in my office network trough wireless access point, and then it asks me for the user credentials. I put in the credentials (i have an unrestricted account, i'm one of the administrators) but then it keeps asking me for them as if i had used wrong credentials! Are there any configuration on the proxy server to accept WM6.1 connections?
Thank's!

Public IP Address??

I am trying to run one of the many FTP servers available for Windows Mobile (vxFTPSrv or ShareIT FTP) to keep some files in sync but I can't seem to figure out what public IP address my phone has. vxFTPSrv says it is listening to a non-routable 10.**** while whatismy ip says it starts with a 200.**** while DynDNS for Windows Mobile says it is 32.****. Nevertheless, none of these work nor can I get these programs to listen to the ports. Any ideas? Does the Tilt even get a public IP address from AT&T? Thanks.
Try this
I'm no pro, but had to tell the Physical address to the the tech guy at my university so he could enable my phone o use the wireless network...
... anyways, download and install a Registry Editor (I use Task Manager v2.8) you should be able to access an Ipconfig tab, where all the information is available.
I don't know if I'm in the right track.... Hope this helps? =)
jim
your pda have an ip address
using wifi router the uplink sees the routers ip
using an isp the internet sees the isp's assigned ip

Another good one I use is Iper Suite.

For casual use the first one is probably satisfactory.
IPer is worth buying for the increased functionality and has a TFTP client.

200.* would be a public IP. As would 32.*
Turn off your proxy setting in the phone and do the www.whatismyip.com thing. That will get you a more meaningfull result than anything else.
When I'm on GPRS/Edge (AT&T proxy settings in force) network I get a 66.102.186.15 IP address as reported by whatismyip.com. That resolves to alpmagr1fe06-dmz.mycingular.net. Which should be a att proxy server even tho it implies by its name its on a DMZ.
When I turn off the proxy for GPRS/Edge I get 166.195.188.15 according to whatismyip.com. That IP address will not respond to ICMP commands. So I assume it is firewalled. So it seems to me that yes you CAN and DO get a public IP address, its just that address is heavily firewalled.
You've piqued my interest, tho I cannot do anymore testing at this moment.

Hotmail Inbox (port 443/8080/80)

Hi experts!
I need a little help in this one.
I want to access to my hotmail account in my inbox on my HTC.
I can only access to ports 80 443 and 8080
I have already tested httpmail Provider (which need a hotmail Plus subscription and I have only a @hotmail.com mail) ,and it crash with a Logging On and a screen with :'The server returned an invalid response (with a lot of jibberish **** and a (80042003), Error Source:HTTP Status :Logging On
I have already tested pocket hotmail 2.5 (it doesn't work ,it doesn't pass the Logging In and I get a: 'connecting to server failed)
I read some stuff about mail2web(actually good) ,with a not pratical solution ,going through hotmail->izymail ->gmail ->mail2web
but izymail doesn't keep a record of the mail, and most important thing it's not free.
So, what can I do ?
I know there is a HTTP way to get the mail (http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp)
With the Peracount app ,i would like to see if I'm receiving some mail.
Thanks in advance!
up
I velieve I installed windows livw from a cab I found on here. Let me knowi fyou cannot find it. Search for Windows Live 10[1].6.33.0600 (Fixed).zip
Windows Live for Windows Mobile
Microsoft actually makes it easy this time, though this page is not easy to find. Just load Windows Live for Windows Mobile and you are fixed.
Also it allows you to use your hotmail contacts and to save you phone contacts to hotmail
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx
I have tested both solutions:
As I said before ,I can only surf with ports 80 8080 and 443.
With Windows live (the fixed and with the link) I cannot pass the Checking Internet connection (I have one,I was surfing to test it).
I was thinking develop a small app which connects to the HTTP site and try to catch if there are any new mail and put it on the today screen.
But I cannot believe there is no solution for my problem.
Could you give us more details about Windows Live app not connecting. I use that app for my hotmail and it works flawlessly.
Whose your service provider? (IE, T-Mobile, at&t)
I'm on a french provider : SFR .
The problem is that I cannot pass the Checking Internet connectivity.
I think the problem is the port (it must be testing another ports rather than 80 8080 or 443).
I think his internet connection is wap based (via proxy) and that's why he can't pass the internet connection check
Yes ,I think that's the problem.
That's why i was wondering if a small app cannot go to the hotmail site (http) and catch some information
Are your connections settings using a proxy server?
Yes ,it is using a proxy server to connect to Internet ,and then it blocks all ports except 80 8080 and 443
hey, had same exact problem. on tmobile USA's tzones plan it uses a proxy connection so windows live doesnt work. after lots of time, i finally figured out one way that works perfectly. first, you have to upgrade to hotmail plus. you can now set it up like any other pop3 email account. search google for hotmail pop3 to find the settings, otherwise ill post them for you when i get home. this is the ONLY way i ever got it working. good luck
Is there any way you can set up a connection profile without using a proxy server?
With at&t for example, connecting via a proxy is only necessary for accessing the Media Net home web page.
@ omaralt :
Hotmail plus is free ?
@GWelker62
All data must pass via the proxy
no, its $20/year, well worth it for me

Bummer.....
I would suggest spending the pocket change like omaralt suggests, and get hotmail plus.

I'm running Cyanogen 5.0.7, and I read all the post but did not see anywhere that is supports RSA tokens. I might still try it and see if it works. Thanks!
It says "Cisco VPN Client". I know that Cisco VPN supports RSA tokens, having used one for a long time.

Thanks to Jack_R1 I believe I have everything loaded correctly. Now could someone tell me where I can find my IPSec info on my computer? I'm not to familiar with the VPN stuff, but I have been working at this forever. I'm trying to do this on the low from my company since they said that they won't do it for me.
Any help would be great, thanks.
If you're using any proprietary sw to connect, look there in the connection properties to find the server IP. If not - look in Windows connection properties for VPN 'dialing' connection.

Our computers use Nortel Contivity, but I can't find the connection properties anywhere. I see the destination ip, and the assigned ip.
The IPSec gateway address should be what?
IPSec ID?
IPSec Secret?
bump for help!
Couldn't find anything and not familiar with Nortel SW..
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=441042
"You will now be asked first for your Ubuntu password, and then the following VPN info: the IPSec gateway address (the hostname of the VPN router you want to connect to), the IPSec ID (aka group ID), IPSec secret (aka group password), username (your VPN username), and password (your password or the value of your SecurID or other token if you have one)."
I guess you need to ask your IT personnel for IPSect ID and secret. IPSec gateway you can find from settings:
http://www.it.ubc.ca/security/VPN/setupdocs/nortelcontivity.html
"Destination" field holds it.

Nope, I tried everything. Jack r1 was very helpful, but I just couldn't get it. I think my company's security is just too high to bypass and my lack of knowledge didn't help.
