Heres one I did. It's animated but it goes so fast you practically miss it anyway...
Couldn't get a gif preview up.
I got a few more I made but I wanted to share this one. A good universal shutdown sequence.
Also just for reference, it seems the png's can so far be anything under a png 24.
I love the Android Scribble boot animations that GLa'DOS put together here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696193
I decided to create an "un-scribble" shutdown animation which is basically his work in reverse. I had to cut several "frames" to get it down to 26 images but it looks pretty good. It's attached as Scribble_shutdown.zip.

Here is an i, robot shutdown sequence i made. I wish the picture was a little clear but it works.
Can i use the same animation for the Shotdown as for the Startsup?
I mean that both 26 png's
Would be nice to know that
Thank God for custom shutdown animations. Oh if anyone is looking for tutorial on how to do it check: http://www.phonebuff.com/2011/06/change-shutdown-animation-for-android/

The newest ROMs do not use this file format. They are utilizing the *.qmg files - not hackable. If you roll back to Froyo or Eclair you can use this type of shutdown.
I have a problem
Hi guys
In my phone the shutdown animations is in a diferetn location
the location is system/bin/shutdownanimation and i can run this as a script.
I renamed it to .bak and now it doesent show up wich is great but i cant replace another one i've tried as a .gif .qmg i've changed the permisions to be de same as the original animation but the new one never works HELP

What is the correct file type and how can i replace it?
Hey guys,
when I was using ARHD I used the BIOS bootanimation from gimj01's thread who in turn had modified the one from frysee's thread.
I modified it for CleanDHD because I really like it (both the bootup and the ROM), and figured I'd share if anyone's interested.
I changed a few things, among those the ROM name and CPU speed (1516 MHz) and copyright notices from 2010 to 2011. All references to Android 2.2 have been changed to 2.3.
I've also made the last (static) frame loop indefinitely until boot is finished, so the screen shouldn't go black before boot-up is done, no matter how long it takes. If you feel the part before the logo is too fast or something, just let me know, or change it yourself. I like it at this speed anyway.
All you need to do is copy the bootanimation.zip to /system/media. You can push it or copy it with a file explorer, remember to mount r/w. If you want to play back the animation without rebooting, you can "adb shell bootanimation" and it'll start. Ctrl+C to end.
Hope you like it.
Thank you kindly.
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I really appreciate the work you all do and would like to learn how to contribute. However, I do have a few questions about Boot Screens and Themes.
How exactly do you create Boot Screens? and are different boot screens interchangeable with different ROMS
Also are themes interchangeable with different ROMS or are they specifically made ?
Lastly, I'm running Fasty II 1.9, is their a thread with specific bootscreens and themes for it? Thanks!
How exactly do you create Boot Screens? and are different boot screens interchangeable with different ROMS
Easiest way to do this would be to grab the bootanimation.zip out of the /system/media folder in your current rom, unzip it, and take a look inside. It's just two folders (part0 and part1) with .png files in it that play in sequence, and a text file (desc.txt). The desc.txt file tells android how to play those files in the two folders. For your first go around, I'd recommend just trying to swap files (with the same names) with the files in the bootanimation.zip file you grab. Just make sure to use 7zip with no compression (store only mode) when you put the files back together, and that the 3 files (part0,part1, and desc.txt) are on the top level of the zip file.
Also are themes interchangeable with different ROMS or are they specifically made ?
Themes are usually specific to the rom they're made for. Unless a theme specifically calls out "Multi-rom", assume that it's best to stay with themes built for your rom.
Lastly, I'm running Fasty II 1.9, is their a thread with specific bootscreens and themes for it? Thanks!
Ahem. Boom and boom.
Thanks Alot!!
No problem.
Also, I realized I forgot to answer your question about boot animations working between Roms. The answer is: Uh... maybe? If you really like a particular boot animation, I'd suggest backing up whatever you currently have and dropping it in. Worst case scenario is that it doesn't work and you have to restore the backup.
You can also just pull the files from the one you want (in the part0/part1 folders) and drop them in a copy of the one that's currently working for you. Then just put that in the /system/media folder.
I was just getting ready to ask about that. Thanks I figured it out. It's fun actually learning to do it instead of just asking for it
[Sounds][Bootanimation][Recovery Flashable .zip] Stock Nexus 6 Sounds & Bootanimation
Hey guys,
Here's a recovery flashable .zip containing all the default Nexus 6 sounds & bootanimation. Initially I made this for myself, because I don't like the bootimage & sounds included in CM12; but I figured there might be some people that might be interested in .zip.
I pulled the files from a stock Nexus 6 ROM. FYI, the sounds found in Nexus 6 is device specific (Neither AOSP or other Nexus devices share the same sounds)
This will REPLACE everything in /SYSTEM/MEDIA into the stock bootanimation and sounds found in a Nexus 6.
Contents of the attached .zip:
Ringtones (12 files)
Notifications (11 files)
Alarms (9 files)
UI (24 files, which includes keyboard sounds, screen un/lock, wirelesscharging, nfc…, and a few others)
And lastly, the stock Nexus 6 bootanimation
Instruction
Copy the attached .zip file into your phone (or if you know what you're doing, you can just sideload it through recovery & ADB)
Boot into a custom recovery
Make a backup of your ROM
Flash the attached .zip
???
PROFIT!
EDIT:
The attached .zip has been edited to set permission, as per suggestion by @xanaxdroid. Thanks!
The standard disclaimer of flashingallthingsfromXDA applies (I'm not responsible if your phone blows up, bricked, melts, and possibly many other horrible things).
Mildly nerdy things (just my non-sense):
I'm completely new to making my own flashable .zip; so if I'm doing something wrong please tell me!
I've decided it's best to delete existing /system/media/. I see very little point keeping the sound files I dislike in the first place.
after deleting the previous 'media' directory, the script will copy the new 'media' directory into /system/media. This is the step where the script will put all the stock Nexus 6 sounds & bootimage in place.
since I flash a nightly CM12 ROM almost everyday, I will be flashing this .zip after the ROM. There's a possibility that if you flash a new ROM, the Nexus 6 sound files will be replaced. Simply re-flash the attached .zip again ;P.
I should probably set permission, but I'm not too sure how I would go about doing that yet ;P. But hey, it works!
Hey,
Can't comment on the technical side of things (permissions) but thank you so much for this. It always bugged me on the nexus 5 when stock and aosp were different.
This is perfect and I'll keep this should I want the sounds back. I really quite like them.
Cheers

Noob question: Will this only work for Nexus 6? Just tried flashing to my S5 and it's hung at startup screen, where it just says "Samsung Galaxy S5"

You have to go to OEM/media and rename the boot animation.zip

Is there more boot sounds? If there are were can I find them?

Hi, can you please include the splash logo of nexus 6?
Hi. It would be possibile create a flashable zip with the new only google boot animation released with nougat? thanks!
This one is probably the best boot animation I have ever used. A combination of Marvel and DC comics characters, it is a must have for any Marvel or DC fan. It has almost all the popular superheroes like Batman, Superman, Flash, Captain America, Ironman, Hulk, Wolverine and many more. Just try it once and you will never want to switch to any other boot animation ever!
Instruction to use:
You don't really need to flash the zip file. Just download the zip file and copy it to your device. Now go to /system/media and rename current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip1 for future reference and now paste the copied boot animation zip file. Now just restart the device and enjoy all the superheroes on your device.
Known Issue:
This bootanimation will NOT work on newer Samsung devices with stock ROMs or TouchWiz-based custom ROMs. Samsung uses a proprietary QMG format for it's bootanimations, and doesn't support the bootanimation.zip which we're using. There's not much we can do about this, only recommend you use a custom, AOSP based ROM like CyanogenMod or others.
Troubleshooting:
If the bootanimation is still not working for you and you're sure you did everything the instructions say, I am really sorry about that, please let me know and I will try my best to help.
For me to be able to help you, it would be great if you included this information in your post:
your device manufacturer and model
which ROM do you use
which version have you tried to install
if you installed via recovery or manually
what exactly is happening when you say "it's not working"
if you have tried some other custom bootanimation and if it was working for you or not (and if it worked, perhaps include the link to it as well)
pictures or videos are useful as well, if you experience some strange behaviour not easily explained by words
If you like the boot animation, don't forget to hit "Thanks".
Note: If you want to see who are all the superheroes there, just download the zip and unzip it to see all the images.
