edited [i need help... my phone wont function normal] =(

I tried to go through most of the forum posts but I dont think I could find my answers..
I was wondering if anyone knows what is wrong with my phone. I did an update and now my phone wont work back to normal. All it shows up is the G1 words across a black screen and that is about it.
When I tried to do a reboot it wouldn't work, I can no longer connect my phone with my USB to the computer, so what other options do I have with this matter? I know my phone isn't a brick.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks and good night..

I thought this was more appropriate, since according to the OP he searched and couldn't find an answer anywhere on the forums, and this shows that there are in fact thousands of his exact question that have been answered. I like the shock and awe of 57,900 results.

Well, supreme was there for 5 posts. Then it was me, bman and brutal hoe and some stragglers. Surprised it's still not closed and we're still not banned

UV Amalgamation?

Just a thought, but is it possible to either combine some of these threads or create a sticky to link to them?
I was looking for my first UV/OC build a few days ago, and the sheer number of TOPICS, nevermind builds took ages to sort though, where as eg the ROM/Theme sticky makes it a piece of cake.
I think theres about 6-7 of these sort of threads clogging the first page up.
Sorry if im totally wrong, I love this place!

While I somewhat agree bobtentpeg .. you have to admit .. for someone to come on here and be annoyed about the lack of organization, yet haven't even read the first thread .. that's a bit foolish.
To the OP, you aren't going to get a thread for just dedicated OCUV. The best you'll get will be the stickied thread up top. Honestly though, I think it would be better served if instead of linking to direct files, and having to constantly update the thread, it would make more sense just to list the ROMS/KERNELS, and their respective threads. This way whenever you want to find it, just go to that page, and click the thread. Boom.

How do I root a Stock N1 FRF91?

Hi Guys
I agree there are TONS of threads on this forum, but somehow, not all of them describe the same steps (or maybe just that I'm a little too confused)
I have a stock unlocked N1 with FRF91 and would like to root my phone
Basically the whole idea behind rooting my N1 is to be able to use ShootMe (screenshot app)
Can someone please give me some step-by-step instructions on how to do it?
I'm actually a n00b at Android, so any help will be appreciated.

I'll give you a hint, though. You need to find two threads to do what you need. Both the threads that you need are in the first page of the dev forum. The mere act of glancing over the titles of the thread won't get you anywhere, try reading some of them for a change.
EDIT-I take it back, there's only one thread you need to find. And considering how prominent a position it's holding in that forum, it's plain obvious that you haven't bothered to look.

The whole point of these forums is to help people out, not to degrade them. They might be new to the site and dont know how its set up. Try not being a jerk and actually help them out. You know like direct them to the thread w/ a link.

No, I didn't go through the thread before deciding to not link it. I just know that the thread is there. If you had looked for it, you would have seen it. The previously-mentioned thread has been stickied in the previously-mentioned forum for at least a week now. Considering that stickied topics are an obvious READ-ME-FIRST tactic, well, you should have known better and actually looked.
And yes, it would have been a lot easier--a lot easier for you, had I posted the link. Waiting for someone else to do the work for your is not how you learn.

yes i did but all seemed geared at the 2.1 update so can i root or do i update to 2.1 then proceed

There are directions to root 1.5 and 2.1 everywhere here you just have to give some actual effort to look for them. I'd suggest going to geekfor.me and use the kitchen to autoroot it.
Why root 1.5 when your going to upgrade to 2.1 anyway? Why not just RUU to 2.1 and then root it?

I completely disagree. There are a mere 3 stickies in the Development forum, of which one clearly, in the title, says "Don't post questions here!" This was a question, which directly violates the rules. Not only that, it's the most basic question of all (how to get started) which is also answered in the stickies. Why should we make any effort to help the OP (and many others on these boards) when they obviously made no effort of their own?
If you don't agree with me and feel the "purpose" of XDA is to baby everyone, I'd encourage you to check out some of the other sections that still have some activity and mods who care. You will find them to be a drastically different experience.

I'm sorry but clearly he had to open the main cdma hero forum part. He SHOULD HAVE seen Q&A. Then decides to post in development. I'm not trying to be a prick I'm following The rule's. No problem man, simple mistake.
I do like the rules that are set here (with the stickies and such) but I do remember the feeling of just finding xda (which was my first forum experience) and how overwhelmed and confused I was. I did mess up in the beginning, with my posting, but I was never bashed. I know you guys weren't bashing him (well I hope not) but you have to realize that he won't make this mistake again, it was a simple mistake. I didn't even know what a "sticky" was when I joined in January haha.

Pretty good rom to be honest, but I miss the live wallpapers and I didn't notice that they were removed when I read the faq.

what bothers me the most about them post is ot only they in the wrong section but they do get answered , while some other ppl in need of advice in the proper section dont even get there answer in the same day !!!!
