[ROM] Simple Pseudo-Native Linux on Himalaya

Hi!
I've been playing with himalaya, (so, im unavailable on phone, lol), and I found a way to run linux during a boot of windows, So there is my proposition to super lightweight rom with linux support
I did that because I really have a dream about android running native on himalaya.
What does it do
It is a kitchen, normal buildos type, to create a rom click on CreatROM.bat, wait, click PLAY icon button in progam which appears, when done, close that program and wait.
It will create a rom, for himalaya which will run some linux kernel.
So, flash it (flash tool will start automatically after rom create), then do a hard reset (like in wm6) and get happy.
It's impossible to login, and to start that linux completly, but it even starts
To change Linux preferences go into SYS/Linux, there will be 3 files to modify.
It's based on Tofclock wm6.00, which is smallest wm6 rom.

Remember - Thats TOTALLY unusable, it is just first normal and comfortable way to run linux.

me and aero were talking on MSN about this, what it doe is that the kitchen is replacing welcome.exe with haret.exe, so instead of booting the WM, its booting Linux the good side is that we have lots of RAM because the orignal OS isent booted yet
but, getting the linux to properly work is PIA

Also ather, haret isn't emulator! It's a bootloader! :>
I wondet that it's possible to load haret during tmail loading or even shell32

I tried it to upgrade but after upgrading my cell was not getting ON. then i tried it to put on Boot Loader Mode i succeeded in that n then went back to 21232.
n it's working fine now.
I have one issue on all 6.5 ROM that is 6-7 rings delays wen call comes, i modified it. N it works fine wen phone is on but wen we do screen lock n turn it off and put it in pocket again there is a problem of 6-7 rings delay what to do???? please help me due to that m loosing almost all my calls. ........

device booting, but after "starting portmap daemon: portmap." will stops
(see on screenshot)
after soft reset - no changes, i`m see just "starting portmap daemon: portmap.". wait 10 minutes and device turns off, after - i`m do soft reset.
Sorry for my english. I`m tested linux in Ukraine , and wait new, but working version guys.
now try download linux again, maybe then hima boot linux normal

igorbullz, I know it hangs there, it's linux failure, I will try to compile some debian kernels so it should work. Also I will try to compile android.

Woow full desktop OS on mobile phone...
This is great.
Please make first thing on todo list to be touchscreen calibration
And i don't care for making calls/sending sms on ubuntu.

i try to make an update wm6.5 (BA21928wwe) for my qtek9090. o copy to sd card run files but since that the screen is all black anda says serial v2.06!! i don´nt no what to do, reset donn´t work... somebody to help please??

You cant upgrade from sd card on the BA, hardreset the phone. Soft will probably also work

i try it, and didn't work and my slot for sd card is broken too... don't fix the sd card... one problem never come alone...

What OS have you an your PC?

i try to instal the wm6.5 no blue angel but i put the soft in the card anda i run it ... now the display says "serial / usb v2.06"
i can´t do anything i'am a limited informatic and my english is not the best..

Qtek9090 is a BlueAngel!! Have you 32Bit or 64Bit OS? Have you install the correct Driver for Win7??? See Here... Then i can help you!!!

yes i can help you but you must have the correct driver install for Windows 7... The Rom BA21928wwe is not important!!! Without the correct driver you can not connect to the Blue Angel!!! see the link in my previous post!!! And see the How To Windows 7 and Vista PDF...
And sorry i can ony broken english and german...

Yes thats normal but now you can connect with the BA...
Connect the BA with your PC and when the driver correct install start the attached file and the BA will Start!!!

Have you tried as a VM on mac osx? None of them work that way because OSX has some issues connecting to the galaxy. Only way to make it work is Windows on a bootcamp.

(also this is probably more Q & A the dev related)

Geee! that sounds very promising!! I've been surfing the forums for someone who has it going on vmware and you are the first I have come across! Any changes you had to make? For most of us, the device will appear and disappear - maybe it is because of 32 bit windows 7... must try. Thanks

I'm use Bootcamp with XP for flash my phone because with Parallels Desktop, Odin don't recognize my phone.

Had to test this and i can confirm that i can indeed run Odin now from Vmware on Mac OSX. I am not sure when this started happening but Benjamin on the Heimdall forum was saying that there were some changes by Samsung in the secondary bootloader of the i9000 which would allow people to connect. Perhaps its this - but anyway - works now - even tried a flash to make sure its ok.

i run a virtual machine with windows XP at Ubuntu OS . it can update i9000 by Odin.

I have no problem flashing my phone with odin. Im on mac running win7 (32) over paralells desktop.

Maybe something did change as I was orignally running 64bit on my virtual machine and that never worked. although I did load the drivers so I don't if thats what did it??

That should be the cause of. U can run a 64bit os as a vm but officially only 32bit is supported. (this counts for paralles. Dont know how it is with othet progamms)

Just thought I'd stop by and confirm that Samsung have fixed the secondary bootloader. The new Sbl.bin is included in official (Norwegian etc.) Froyo releases. If you're running a non-official release then the updated bootloader may not have been included.
Now the Galaxy S is functioning under OS X I've released Heimdall OS X binaries and instructions on how to use them. They can be downloaded from the official Heimdall page on my website.

Here's how to run windows 95 on Android devices through Limbo, an application based on the machine emulator Qemu.
1. Download Limbo APK from http://sourceforge.net/projects/limbopcemulator [6MB - 0.9.7 Shoud be the last version]
2. Grab a copy of Windows 95 hard disk Image
3. Install Limbo APK
4. Open Limbo
5. Set the following settings
Code:
Load VM: NEW
User Interface: SDL
CPU Model: Default x86
CPU Cores:1(over phone has got only 1 core XD)
Ram Memory: 150MB
HardDisk A: select the file of hdd (downloaded before) from your sdcard where you extract it(should be an .img file)
High Priority: YES
6. Press start button
7. After about 5 minutes Windows will start, ENJOY

the last I checked windows 95 and 98 were free. I was doing a search for a license key a year ago and came across an article saying that this guy phoned Microsoft and they said that he can have a universal key and told him he can upload it to the internet and share it with his friends because they don't support them anymore.

i tested it on 4.1.2 on l5 and work(boot is long, you need to wait a lot of minutes)
if you use qemu you shouldnt install SDL.

Err okay which is better, Dosbox turbo + boot IMG from it - at least I get to the Starting screen for Windows 95 before black screen and nothing,

this limbo /QEMU with the settings described here? Better sounds and performance with which one?
I want to run some late 90s games that require windows. I tried in the Dosbox on the PC and there when I boot in Windows 95 I get nothing but drive C: and windows files, it is all inside the mounted image in DosBox, I mean how do you even see the files if browsing windows from your phone wont show you the files of your phone but just the Windwows drive C: and the IMG's files.

this limbo /QEMU with the settings described here? Better sounds and performance with which one?
I want to run some late 90s games that require windows. I tried in the Dosbox on the PC and there when I boot in Windows 95 I get nothing but drive C: and windows files, it is all inside the mounted image in DosBox, I mean how do you even see the files if browsing windows from your phone wont show you the files of your phone but just the Windwows drive C: and the IMG's files.

i tested only limbo, but it hasnt big performance on my phone. however pre-installed games work!
maybe u can create a 2nd harddisk with your files, because is not possible to show/open internal memory or sdcard

ok I found the post that I was talking about. Its a generic product key provided by Microsoft for windows 98. I would guess that when I call them tomorrow they will be willing to give me a key for windows 95.
