I am running the latest kingxrom. On his thread it says to use this script but were do put this script i tried entering it in the terminal but it just forceclosed and then i tried the console and after the reboot i got just a blackscreen so i had to reflash so im wondering were im suppose to put this script or what another way to fix my market thanks.
# mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
(enter)
# rm -rf /system/sd/*
(enter)
# rm -rf /system/data/*
(enter)
# reboot recovery

I switched to CM 4.1.11.1 and the is market working. It is the 1.6 version of course. Don't know what the 1.5 version market's issue is, and I really like the Hero ROM's.

i might just try that one
Strange, but I decided to try and go back to Hero ROM again and it works fine (the market). Like nothing ever happened.

I had this problem. I tried several different roms, completely wiped everything, reformatted sd... I even wiped and went back to stock Donut. It didn't work, until I created a new Google account. Now it works fine on any rom. I wonder if google has put a limit on how many times you can log in to the market, to stop sharing of paid apps.

I'm pretty sure that google did not do anything like that. Something got borked for all of you guys. While I have not flashed any Hero roms in a long long time, I do know that you need to really clean out your phone before you even attempt to put Hero on it. That includes
Wipe
Wipe again
Drop to terminal and rm -r
system/sd/app
system/sd/app-private
system/sd/dalvik-cache
data/app
data/app-private
data/dalvik-cache
data/data (I think)
run e2fsk on your system/sd
wipe again
And only then you should install Hero rom following all recommendations from the creator of the rom.
Also, I wouldn't wipe right after installing a rom: sometimes devs sneak a thing or two into /data which you could delete if you wipe.
Good luck.

Yes, I definitely completely cleaned out my phone. I completely wiped EVERYTHING, everything in data, in cache, in system... I even completely formatted my sd back to fat32, then reformatted again with ext4 and swap partitions. Then I wiped again, twice, then flashed cyan's stable. I also did the same thing (minus the total reformat of sd, just a simple delete of data) with a couple other ROMs, including kingklick. Market still didn't work. I did one wipe, flashed kingklick's latest sapphire sense port, and logged in with a NEW google account, and it worked perfectly. I'm going to try wiping and logging in with my old account, to see if it gives me the same error.
edit: Confirmed. Wiped, flashed, logged in with old account --> Market broken. Wiped again, flashed again, logged in with new account again --> Market works. I'm trying to contact Google to see what can be done.

i tried this over and over and over again and nothing im gonna try creating a new google account and see if that works
I ended up wiping, repartitioning my sdcard card and wiping and reinstalling my ROM and it all works (I did backup ONLY using backup for root users.) and it all works fine for me know, going on 1 1/2 days. I use the same google account.
i had apps backed up on my sd card but if repartioning the sd card worked for you then i might to do that dont want to make a new google account lol.
ok so pretty much nothing worked for me besides changing my gmail account anyway i can change my gmail account sign in back to my old one without reflashing
RESOLVED!
so im a total noob.. my issue is that when i wiped my sd card, i only repaired the partitions to ext instead of following the 2/3/4 order!
sorry!

Hello, fairly small question here from a fairly new guy to android modding
So i just installed "Zachattack052 & Xillius200's 2.1 Hero" ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670414
the issue here is that I cannot seem to run the market or gmail app .. it exits
So i assume its Gapps right? idk im a noob (but I have tried reading and working this out myself but no luck) .. I've reflashed Gapps and I'm just tinkering with the phone to see if I can get it to work.
is their something painfully obvious that im ignorant to?
I will remove thread once problem is resolved
- After I installed this ROM and Gapps I never did get the basic android screen to configure my GMAIL to the phone.
So here is what I've done:
application menu -> Setup -> configured my GMAIL account and set it to sync
--
SO this post probably makes me sound like some 12 year old that shouldn't be here anyways.. but just looking for some help- I used to have my brother do all of the Android/phone stuff for me so I know random bits and pieces of things.

It's because it cant fit in the system partition. Quentin himself made a little guide, how to make a bootable zip from the new nightlies. HERE it is. I deleted the Live Wallpapers and some other stuff i would disable anyway.

Here i take this message too (status 7), but in zip package don't have as live wallpapper apk, have some more apk's i have to exclude or someting more?
Sory for my poor english!
Yes, the newest nightly doesnt have live wallpapers by default. You have to delete some other stuffs.
Ringtones, some fonts are safe to delete. (and those asian fonts eats up at least 8Mb...)
I can't make it work too. I tried to delete some stuff, but I don't know what is safe to delete or not.
I don't need Live Wallpapers and so on, but the apk isn't in the zip file anymore.

Try booting ROM form that post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32403158#post32403158
Its already prepared for booting. Before that you better wipe all user data and cache - it should work after that
The installation worked, but my Milestone stuck while the boot logo is shown.
Edit: Works after a restart, but now it tells me every minute that text-to-speech has crashed. >.<
CM10 boot issue with latest nightly
Greetings all, I am new to this forum so bear with me
I have just tried out the latest rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
(I am currently running CM9)
It boots to a blank screen with just the bar at the top, which seems to work, but no home screen to be seen :crying:
I understand there won't be a wallpaper, but I should see icons, right?
I have cleaned all the caches and reset to factory before installing, but nothing ..
I do not have the /data partition though, is that necessary?
Thanks,
B.
You should have wallpaper, only the live wallpapers were deleted by default.
I guess, the problem is your /data partition. It's necessary to wipe it if you upgrade your rom. Wiping it should solve your problem.
Well, after some restarts it's working. But Angry Birds isn't running and World of Goo is lagging. Isn't the great project butter working?

Hmm, I don't have a /data partition yet ... I guess that is the problem.
Question: If I create a new SD card with a FAT32 partition at the start and an EXT3 at the end, can I just copy my phone SD card contents
including hidden files to the FAT32 partition, put it in the phone and all will be good?
I am guessing that the OS will find the partition and create a mount point for it and that I don't have to do that, right?
Thanks,
B.

Project Butter improves the reactiveness of the UI and increases the framerate.
But the reason for games not working is a lack of RAM (in 90% of the cases).
To circumvent this you need to use a kernel that supports zRAM and/or swap.

So I created the card with the new partition and it works fine with my CM9 backup from nandroid.
When I try to install CM10 I deleted all the caches, factory reset etc and installed CM10.
When it eventually booted to the setup wizard, I enter all the information and it says it is complete, but then on exit the wizard dies and I am left with the status bar and a black screen ..
I tried re-booting, but it won't boot until I go and delete the caches etc again ..
What's wrong?:crying:
Did you wipe everything from recovery? Because doing a Factory Reset might not be enough.

What does "Did you wipe everything from recovery" mean? If you mean did I execute all of the three menu options in recovery, then yes I did that.
However, I do have it going now ... but only after many resets .. and I got stuck on the setup app crashing ..
I am using it and have found it a bit flakey .. slows down at times and the keyboard goes away sometimes, I have to use the hard keyboard.
EDIT: Found the reason for that was voice typing was on for some reason.
I also noticed that the font is very light (alsmost un-readable) in contacts, I have to hold the phone at an angle to be able to read the names.
Here is the cure for the font problem:
Open "HWA Settings" and disable "Contacts" and "Messaging".

Cool thanks, that did it ..:good:
So what is "HWA Settings" anyway?
If an app don't need hardware acceleration, than it will ask the system to not to do it, but sometimes it's just not working properly and with HWA Settings we can disable the hw acc on that app.
Hi,
I flashed my phone to a Custom ROM (GingerDX v029) and realised that it doesn't has the native email client. Can anyone please hook me up to a good email client where I can configure my office email account to? Free obviously.
Thanks!
If you have zip of any other rom then get the native email from it.
Open the zip
go to /system/app and extract email.apk from there.
Hey, thanks! Did that.
But right now, I can't set up the mail.
What happens when you try to do it??
I have entered all the details correctly. It then starts checking the incoming settings and prompts with the message "Unable to open connection to server". I have tried this on 2-3 other email client apps as well. Same error.
Could it be because of the root access by any chance?
No.. thats not because of root,,
install gmail from play store and check whether the problem exists..

I already have gmail and its running properly. There is no problem in that.
Right now I am trying to set up my Exchange Account in my phone and not able to do that.
hmm...
clear the apps data and cache.
now reboot and see..

Wait. I will try that.
Same error.
The thing to note is that my friend is using the same settings, and in his phone, he has configured the mail account successfully.
hmmm....
give me a little time..
Hmmm.. okay
Anyone?
So I searched around a little bit, and this what I got:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324 (Issue 2.1 in this link)
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9426
Apparently, when you flash you phone, you lose the security credentials of the phone which come attached to it by the manufacturer. Hence, you can connect to the public email ids and domains, but not to the secure ones.
This is what the problem which I think I am facing as of now. If anyone can help me install the security certificates again in the device, please do.
Maybe the only solution is reverting to stock by SEUS.
I just switched from stock to CM 10.2 (10.2-20131025-UNOFFICIAL-janice, to be more specific) and I can't see nor add any SIM contacts, it appears as if the SIM was empty. Any suggestion is welcome. By the way, I'm new so go easy on me.

It is not just about our CM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101699
I think one of the way are to go back to stock and to export contacts from sim to phone, export to file and after that import in CM contacts.
Or to put sim in some other phone and to transfer contacts with bluetooth.
