Hello,
I've got a BIG problem...
I was unable to flash anything anymore, it aborted every installation of update.zip, so I decided to start from scratch.
Downloaded DREAIMG.nbh(RC7, I've got a dutch phone...) formated my sdcard, fdisk type b and mkdosfs -F 32, then copied DREAIMG.nbh to the sdcard but then I get Loading..., Checking..., not allow
I tried all capitals, because it says so on different forums so I tried all combinations of capitals and small letters, tried different DREAIMG.nbh files, from different sites. I've formated the disk after every attempt and checked the files using md5sum. Than also DREADIAG.NBH, which results in not allow just the same...
It says in the bootloader screen:
DREA110 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CLPD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Sep 2 2008
I don know if it matters but...
The system partition is completely broken..
It doesn't boot and adb shell complains about the absence of /system/bin/sh
I hope somebody has a suggestion for what to try...
Thanks!
Greetings,
Geert
Hey read up on spl's here and read the difference sbaout them this will tell you your problme http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/wiki/SPL
XD I may be completely of track but I believe it is that - if I am off track sry and I answered you on the development section as well XD
HardSPL also allows NBH files to be used without matching the CID (carrier ID) check
Thanks for replying!
But I don't want to install a american nbh on a european phone...
Or do you expect for the SPL to be broken?
Then there is a other problem... I don have a modified recovery image... So how am I going to install JesusFreak recovery?
Thanks!
Greetings,
geert

Very welcome. glad i can help
JF 1.43 Recovery + Newest SPL will do the trick
Been getting the same error every time I tried to install Hero ROM. Then, I spent a couple of hours researching on this forum and the steps below are the result of my search. Hope this can save some migraine to some of you.
1. Get the JF 1.43 recovery image from JF Andblog|rename to update.zip|Alt+S to install
2. Verify you have the latest SPL 1.33.2005 by holding camera button on R side of G1 while pressing Power button, if HBoot does not read 1.33.2005; then you need to get latest SPL
3. Obtain your favourite HERO Rom, and flash away.

I have a hero rom now and its working great
I can't seem to get the SPL to update properly.
When my phone (UK G1) boots it says:
Code:
Android system recovery utility
Build: JFv1.43
A fastboot shows the following:
Code:
DREA110 PVT 32B
HSPL10.95.3000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
So I've got the latest radio update.
I've downloaded the HardSPL file and gone through the installation of it several times. The HSPL line never changes to anything else.
I've downloaded the SuperHero v1 Beta2, but every single time I try to install it I get the same error as the thread starter: can't chown/mod /system/xbin etc. etc.
What on Earth am I doing wrong? What have I done to mess this up in the first place?
Can someone please help?
Sorry for the souble-post, but I downloaded the spl-signed file instead this time and now I have the different SPL line in fastboot.
I don't know how that never happened in the past, but I guess I must have missed that.

So, you were able to flash Superhero?
same error as OP, but on different line - line 41
Radio and SPL double checked with fastboot, they are fine (see my sig), recovery is the 1.4 CM + JF.
Can't flash many roms here around....... especially hero build......

you need Haykuro's "Danger" SPL in order to load Hero on the G1 because of the bigger partition sizes.

I have the same issue too, and I adb shell into the G1 device, and see the /system is full. I also create 2 partitions in my SDCARD (one fat32/one ext2), but that doesn't solve the issue. here is my partition status:
df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
tmpfs 47.8M 0 47.8M 0% /dev
/dev/block/mtdblock4 67.5M 1.2M 66.3M 2% /cache

/dev/block/mtdblock3 67.5M 67.5M 0 100% /system

and the recovery console shows like this during apply update.zip :

BTW, why Danger SPL can fix this issue? Does it adjust the partition size to fix the issue?
I have not yet tried it before I understand how this works.
Thanks
I had the same error on line 80 - i reformatted my sdcard so had 3 partitions - and still the same - I then found out I was on the wrong SPL not the one that displays hboot - flashed with the hboot spl and it installed the hero rom - rebooted and got the first boot screen then blank screen for about 5 mins then the word htc then about 30 seconds later a screen asking for country then asking to type in 'simple' then got the hero screen.
so fix your spl, ensure your memory card correct and you should be ok

The RGB screen is normal for that bootloader. Is the file named DREAIMG.nbh on the root of your sdcard? If it is, and all goes well, it should flash the RGB screen, then another gray screen will come up with instructions with how to flash the DREAIMG.nbh to your phone. I think the instructions say something like press Volume Up to flash the img, and some other stuff... if the DREAIMG.nbh doesn't work, try renaming it to DREAMIMG.nbh and seeing if the bootloader recognizes it then.
it was named as u said, but i get a quick grey screen then it goes to the RGB. i tried renaming it as stated, and got the same result.
Not quite certain why the bootloader isn't seeing the nbh file. I'll go look around, but maybe someone will post the answer here before me.
Btw, do you have the US phone or the UK version? The UK version requires RC7 not RC29, that might be why, but ehhh, sounds unlikely if you've been following the instructions...
EDIT: KK! Found a likely solution. After formatting it (your sdcard) from your phone, you still need to format it one more time in Windows. Make sure you format it to FAT32, not FAT16, not FAT, but FAT32.
Once that is done, I would re-download the file (some people said that re-naming the file made it not visible in bootloader and re-downloading it solved it). Make sure it is named DREAIMG.NBH (ALL CAPS, but also make sure you can see file extensions in Windows so that you don't rename it to DREAMIMG.nbh.nbh). Do that and let me know how that goes.
format ur sd card too fat32 thats probably y
hi

i dont have a Backup
should i install HardSPL?... (HSPL10.95.3000) ?
what is solution?
is this phone rooted? how can i understand it?
thanks
did you even read the OP to almost every single hero rom? you have to have the 1.33.2005 spl to flash most any hero rom, there is one (could be more, haven't checked though) that will fit on the hard spl.
to get a rom back on your phone and the phone to a working state go into the recovery console from the recovery screen and type
Code:
ums_enable
to mount your sdcard to your computer and type
Code:
ums_disable
to unmount it after you put a rom on there that does not require the 1.33.2005 spl. such as cyanogen's or enomther's roms.
thanks a lot, it was not written at Fatal1ty's page, so i thought it's simple
i know tried
#ums_enable
/dev/block/mmcblk/ #
and connected to Pc, installed drivers ((http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip)
it still doesnt show the Mass Storage disk in My computer (windows)
there is a disk F: but when i click it it says put a disk in driver etc..
it seems i need a microsd card reader?... otherwise i dont see sdcard
ok i restarted it and now i can see as Mass Storage.. thanks
i have now HSPL10.95.3000 and RADIO-2.22.19
i think it mean i can flash any rom now
If you haven't rooted your phone, cause you said how do I know if it's rooted, you need to root it in order to flash a custom rom.

maybe a fastboot erase will sort it out
tiny bit of info here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Fastboot
short answer here
power on phone while pressing camera
you should see androids on skateboards, and some text scrolling for a bit
go into fastboot mode with back key
now, from your PC
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
that will erase system , userdata ( aka data ) and cache
it will work if /system can not be mounted ( which I'm guessing is why an update won't flash, as far as I can tell the recovery wipes only mounts the partition and delete files.
If your system has become corrupted by for instance doing
flash_image system /sdcard/nandroid/bdeifhoef/somerom/system.img
it won't boot and recovery can't wipe
but fastboot erase will save you buying a new phone
if you are windows
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3083753
tbh I don't know if it will work for you.
I'm guessing... after filling in some gaps
do you get an error message when you try to flash a ROM via recovery?
Code:
usage: fastboot [ <option> ] <command>
commands:
update <filename> reflash device from update.zip
flashall 'flash boot' + 'flash system'
flash <partition> [ <filename> ] write a file to a flash partition
erase <partition> erase a flash partition
getvar <variable> display a bootloader variable
boot <kernel> [ <ramdisk> ] download and boot kernel
flash:raw boot <kernel> [ <ramdisk> ] create bootimage and flash it
devices list all connected devices
reboot reboot device normally
reboot-bootloader reboot device into bootloader
options:
-w erase userdata and cache
-s <serial number> specify device serial number
-p <product> specify product name
-c <cmdline> override kernel commandline

dreamimg not allow
Hi, I have a t mobile g1 that was running android 1.6 and rooted.I flashed cwm recovery and installed cm6 and ended up with a brick.(phone was stuck at t mobile logo).
I rebooted the phone into recovery and restored the original firmware.
Now my phone boots, but all I get is a blank black screen.I did a soft reset and a hard reset and none has changed.
The problem is that the original firmware replaced the recovery and now im stuck with stock recovery.
Also, I cannot enter fastboot mode.Using the dreamimg.nbh had no result. No matter what image i put on sd card, the result is always the same, not allow.
What else can I do?
Please help

Thanks for your reply. But im not really sure either, on how can I get a goldcard? My phone wont complete the booting process. How can I get the cid number?
Problem is don't think you can get cid or really even make a gold card without an os, you can try searching the internet but not that I know of
It may be possible to flash an update.zip from the stock recovery though, its worth a shot if you can find a working link to official 1.5 or 1.6 update but this is kinda unlikely to work

The CID is to be read from the SD-CARD, not from the phone, but you need to have PC to prepare it ...

No, you need either a Windows Mobile or an Android Phone for getting the CID (i had the same Problem a few days ago and had to make a goldcard). I used this Windows program to get my CID (http://www.chip.de/downloads/GoldCard-Tool_49005379.html) and pasted the Reverse CID into this Website (http://huygens.hoxnet.com/goldcard.html).. the goldcard.img file i dd'ed with linux onto my sdcard (easier than using a HEX editor on Windows)..
So someone without a working os, like ryd3r89 could not use this tool correct? Or could he attempt to guess his cid using a list like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445289&nocache=1
And just go with most likely options until he gets it right?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The CID is created from the first 16 bytes read from the first sector of the sdcard. If you have a Linux system available you can prepare the gold card there ...

Hi,
I wanted to flash official froyo ruu
and downloaded it ( http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4b...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe )
i couldnt do it with htc sync it gave me 131 customer id error. people told to go with goldcard.
i read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8105075&postcount=42
and got my cid, as below:
Executing adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
Reading adb output
------------------------
1b534d3030303030101ae4b6cd00a840

i created goldcard.img with 1b534d3030303030101ae4b6cd00a840 (by using goldcardtool.exe from - klutsh's gold card tool)
i also got the rom.zip file and copied to the sd card.
NOW; what should i do???? i am going to recovery menu when turning on the phone but cant install it like i do before (like cyanogenmod rom..etc by selecting install from sd card - it is giving error).
also, which cid i should go with 1b534d3030303030101ae4b6cd00a840 or 00A800CDB6E41A1030303030304D531B
goldcard.img is 1kb only, is it ok?
Please help, i need to unroot this phone because i am going to sell it...
found the solution:
you need to change rom.zip's name,
in recovery boot, the system is looking for file names, mine was pc49img.zip
so, i changed the name and it worked
froyo working great, couldnt find any bug
