Just wondering if the custom color trackball needs one of the ROMs? Or is it possible to do with the stock ROM and root now that Google released the color API?
I've only seen them for rooted phones so far.

I want to eventually be able to install a custom rom like Cyanogen or whatever on my Nook but I also want to retain the ability read magazines and picturebooks on the Nook.
Does anyone think the 2.1 nook color apps (library, Shop) could be ported to, say, the current 2.2 rom from the dev section?
I've been on official CM9 for weeks as I want a user experience as closely resembling AOSP as possible, but I am wanting a return to good S-pen functionality, and OTG. Having root would be nice, but I could do without it... Especially considering this nugget of wisdom.
1. Would stock ICS (LPY since I have a German Note, or would LP9 be safer/better?) and Nova Launcher give me a reasonable facsimile of the AOSP user experience? I want its appearance and general behavior, and core apps (calendar, MMS, contacts, phone, keyboard, etc.). I realize they wouldn't come with the ROM, but is it doable to install them myself? I imagine this would come back to the catch-22 of requiring root to do away with the S-app "equivalents".
2. Am I correct in understanding that I will be safe to flash LPY using PC Odin, and that, if desired, I could again use PC Odin to revert to stock GB to regain root and go flash something else?
3. Prior to official CM9, I was using imilka's CM9 -- which, as we all know, involved flashing a base of i9220 Repack. I'm quite sure I only used LP1, but considering dr.ketan's warning in the above-linked thread, I'm curious if there is a way I can find out that I don't have the leaked bootloader which bricked chainfire's Note. I recall that at least one of imilka's CM9 updates included the LP5 or LP6 kernel. Would that have a similar effect?
good question
well its always a fight b/w stock android and custom roms. Its true custom roms are more fashionable and customizable. But on the other hand they are never 100% stable. As custom roms are merger of apps, so.etimes conflicts cause bugs. Well to select a rom whether stock or custom you have to first decide what you want more. Customization and more good look or stability and daily usability. For the former one u need a custom rom and for the later u shoukd go for a stock rom with or without root.
I root my note after using gingerbread stock for a month. Then i tried various ics roms but just until ics was oyt for n7000. Since that day i an using official ics and i only had to do a single factory restore. Since then i am doing great. Loving the stock ics rom. Plus i download launcher and iys theme if i want something different.

you can try cataclysm rom, it does quite many and will even more of the stuff exposed does for most users
but it's by now means a replacement of xposed, just that you'll find a few things which you needed xposed
for on kitkat in the rom and the dev is great and has policy is unique. has been that way under kitkat already
i will not change to lollipop until:
a) the ugly theme can be changed to black and white again ( this is personal taste of course )
b) cm12 will be available because i have to manage 6 out of 7 devices with an identical setup and only cm and slim cover all my devices ( sig )
c) hopefully xposes will be compatible with some devices ( will not be like before compatible with all roms an devices but probably for some )
should xposed not seem to come back i will see what custom roms i can use, we would be back to JB times PAC rom and others with just everything one could whish built into the roms, which would limit of course the choice for the rom compared to xposed.

So I have the Verizon LG G3 (VS985). I'm wondering if you could develop your rom with that phone and bump it for users. I also use these as part of xposed, Keepchat, snapprefs, the status bar down loader, commandr, and xgels, so I would like those ported!. If you could integrate the LG G3's camera, gallery, qremote that would be sick too! So if you made the rom could you make it with those and could you make it with cm12 lollipop? There is a rom for the g3 that uses cm12. It just has no customization. I would be willing to help but I need to learn how to program first and such.... I will try to help though! Below I have the rom that uses cm12 and then the modules. The rom that I posted below needs some work... but it's what I use. Would you be willing? I also understand If you don't want to.

Can we completely unroot and go back to stock with bootloader locked ?
Secondly , people who are on custom rom and using custom kernels like elementalx, can you please tell me if we can change the color to match an ips display , I am trying my friends op3 for a few days before I make a decision to buy , and I don't like the yellowish tint. Can that be corrected ?
Yes you can go back to completely stock.
Haven't tried any ROMs, or tried to change color balance. No yellow tint here. But don't see why not with an app or kernel tweaking app with a custom kernel.

Yes unlocking and locking bootloader is pretty simple with OnePlus and it doesn't void you warranty which is personally the reason I chose OnePlus and the great Dev support. You can tweak the colours if your running a custom ROM with custom kernals and even in oos you can turn on srgb mode which neutralises the colours a lot.
Sent from my OnePlus3T using XDA Labs
You won't need a custom ROM to change the display. A custom kernel is enough. I use Franco Kernel and have the display just as I want it. RGB, saturation, display value, contrast and hue can be changed through his kernel manager. I assume other custom kernels have similar capabilities.
Hello,
I want to calibrate the screen of my Mi Mix. In my opinion, it's too warm and I don't really like the color temperature.
Warm and natural are too warm for my taste and cold is too cold.
I can't find a RGB option where I can set the color temperature myself, unfortunately.
Currently I'm using an app to this called "color calibration", which probably just adds an layer over the screen to adjust the apperance of the colors.
I don't think that's the optimal way to do it.
So how do I do this in the right way?
I'm on MIUI9 official stable right now.
Do I need to use an custom ROM? And if so, is there one which is better than the stock rom but still 100% stable?
I don't want to use a ROM which is not stable and has bugs

Some of custom kernels have the RGB tweaks(optimizable), for example Pepsy kernel. Check the telegram group: t.me/xdamimix

Sounds interesting.
Unfortunately, I don' think I can unlock the bootloader already to install TWRP.
When I tried it yesterday, it said something about 72 hours.
And the kernel is absolutely stable and better than the stock one?
Also, if I want to reverse all changes, is this possible? Like, I unlock the bootloader to root my phone and install TWRP, then I install this kernel - could I lock the bootloader again, reverse root and install all stock stuff again so it's like I never did something?
Just wondering in case that I need to use the warranty.

Changes can be reverted to default on rom/kernel. But no idea about re-locking the bootloader or warranty stuffs. Sorry.

Is this kernel even compatible with MIUI9 stock rom on my Mi Mix?
