Sorry if this has been asked already, didn't see it, but what is the correct way of getting back to the stock tmobile rom on a mt3g after updating to the recent radio? Same procedure as before? Thinking of making a swap and don't want to brick trying to unroot. Thanks in advance.

All the non-Hero roms in the dev forum are all up-to-date roms.
ohhh thanks sorry im still new to the forums
I've searched for this information high and low, can you post a link to some good instructions or possibly write your own? I wanna root my new DMD64 G1 I just received.
This is what I could find, but nobody has confirmed anything for me:

i recently rooted a new g1 for my frien that had the new radio update. go to theunlockr.com and follow the procedure dor rooting a donut phone. it worked for me. just be sure to give yourself some time and patience. after you complete that process check your radio and spl. you may need to update radio then flash spl and rom of your choice.

Thanks for this, please respond and let me know how it goes for you... if it works, etc. I will be attempting to do this as well.
I have also been trying to find info on rooting my g1 with dmd... glad someone posted this.
Info about the update:
http://www.mwd.com/2010/03/t-mobile-released-new-g1-and-mytouch-ota-update-dmd64/
I am not trying it until I get at least one confirmation that it is the best course of action.

How's this any different from any other G1? Downgrade to RC29 and root as usual, isn't it?

That's kind of what I am wondering
Peshal's link worked like a champ. Rooted my G1 yesterday, everything looks and works great.
so i'm swapping my vibrant for a nexus tomorrow. i'm told he never rooted it but i'm assuming he's accepted all of the ota updates. i'm trying read up on everything for this phone. i've been to the wiki at cyanogenmod and have been looking over the forums here obviously as well.
my main question is will i need to be a pc to root it? to unlock the bootloader i know i will need to be but will i absolutely need to do this before i can replace the recovery, radio, etc....?
thanks in advance

Without going into details, the answers to your questions is No.
Don't upgrade to Gb 2.3.3 if you want to go back to Froyo 2.2 until someone post a clear tutorial and others have tried it.
Hey guys,
I have the latest update 2.31.651.7 on my HTC Hero right now. For whatever reason when I try to install the 2.27.651.6 version I get 140 bootloader version error all the time. This is getting really annoying and I have spent countless days trying to figure this out but I got nowhere. I have already rooted the phone by universal androot. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you in advance
Why are you wanting to go to .6? And if your rooted why are you sticking with the stock rom? Honestly man READ a ton before doing any of this. Even rooting.

Yes, reading is your friend, to fix 140 go to my links thread.
I literally tried everything possible and I am pretty sure by now I have gone through all the links and threads here in xda. The reason I wanted to go back to 3.27.651.6 was so that I could load custom roms which dont seem to be possible with my current version because I keep getting the 140 error.
Uh........*cough*....ahem. Yeah. Get it fixed?
so does anyone have any advice on what to do? Since getting the new version and the update I seem to be unable to load custom roms anymore.

So did you go to my links thread? Click on my user name, go to thread started by me, find the 140 fix?

It seems like you were rooted and accepted the over the air update. If that's the case then you may just have lost root and need to reroot you phone again. Try the one click root app in themes and apps section.
Root/Hack-Mod-Always*
Root this way also if ya like....
