Hi
is there a way to add an application that i installed manually from sdcard to the downloaded section of the market so i can see when a new version of the app is out there? or every app checks by itself? i come from winmo so i dont really know much about android
thank you
atrackdog will do this for you with one click. It will check all the apps you have install and check market for update.
thank you, great app

Hi
I flashed SenseHero 2.2 ROM which is a pretty good Android 2.1 flash. Unfortunately, it comes without Google Maps and native HTC PDF viewer. Where can I get this apps from? I could not get any answer on SenseHero forums.
Thanks.
You can download Maps from the market.
Also running SenseHero

Thanks for the apk but I get "Application not installed" error even though I enabled unknown sources in application settings.
It's strange I can find Google Maps on Androlib site but it does not appear in Market search. Does Google restrict application based on client country?

Yes some countries do not get all apps. But there is something called Market Enabler,... Have a look for that.
And try these again for PDFViewer,... Put both in the same folder and then try to install again.
Let me know how it goes.

The new files give me the same error. I also tried to install Market enabler and its apk cannot be installed either. Seems like the project is outdated, the authors say they don't support the latest Market version.
I followed these instruction: http://strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk which say additional libraries should be installed. After I put the libraries in the right place the application installed OK but it won't start. So I guess I will be needing the correct PDFViewer version (for Android 2.1). If anyone has it, please...
Hello everyone! I have stupid question: Is there any way to update via android market applications that are not installed from the market? I am sure many of you out there have outdated apks that needs to be updated. So you install an apk and if it is outdated, market app should find it and update with the latest version existing in the market
Like i said maybe a stupid question
If an app is on the market then it will update .If its not from the market then it will not update unless updating is built into the app .

You may need to go into Settings -> Applications and find the Market and do a "force close" and then a "clear data".
The next time you open up the market it should rebuild the list of 'installed apps'.

I installed CM 7.0.3 last Friday, I'm beginning to see more and more apps that say "installed" (from earlier) but trying to re-push them to my phone they now grey out my HTC Hero on Sprint saying the device isn't compatible.
I have the feeling this is an issue of the market assuming my HTC is stock and the newest builds of the apps are not compatible. Is there a way to indicate I'm using Android 2.3.3 so I can have Google Maps back?
I was able to get my Google Music beta as a .apk from someone and it installed fine manually and works great but was another just as above that wouldn't work through the market.
Hey I am having the same problem with the market not recognizing my hero. I am actually just looking for the google music beta app, =P so if you had a link I would appreciate that vmuch.
Look here

There is a copy of the music.apk but I believe you need to have the invite from Google Music Beta first before it will work. I had mine, loaded on PC went to my phone and was as I described above. Got the file from someone and loaded logged in and it works perfectly.
Thank you, I will try the links above
I would say that yes, that is affecting me, but I can't be the only one with a handset that wasn't designed to be running Gingerbread but is obviously compatible.
With all of the ROM community support of aging devices seems there must be a work around for this that is going to start to become a larger problem.
Making sure I make backups of my apps from now on seperately from my CWM recovery backups.
To get Google Music from the market, you have to edit your build.prop file. The instructions are in another thread. A simple search will find it.

change your buid.prop to say device is a "DROIDX", & youll have access to even more apps, & the google music app is in the cdma hero section for download, use the search
just cnanging the banner to droid x wont do it the apps that arnt available for are made for hdpi devices and tablets so when u try and instsall them itll say parse error
In your build.prop located in /system change your ro.opengles.version value from 65536 to 131072. So your end product looks like this: ro.opengles.version=131072
Can you edit that file with an app, or do you need to use adb? I tried using es file explorer but no dice, it's probably in use by the system eh?
Edit: forgot to enable root permissions for it...derp.

If you're like me and really don't care for the new market I thought I'd share this tip.open terminal emulator and type
Su
pm disable com.android.vending. updater
and NO more market updating itself .If you already got the update go to applications-manage-all-market-uninstall updates and boom back to the old.
Is there anything to be afraid in the new Market? I'm going to flash newer MIUI build tomorrow and I'm not sure if it doesn't already have the new Market...

MIUI has the newest Market on it. The only drawback I find is that it is a bit harder to get to your downloaded apps and that it lags a bit, because it isn't optimized for the Milestone.
I've updated Google Apps in the Recovery! But now MarketEnabler doesn't work! How I can downgrade to the old (fashion ) market?

Go to Settings > Applications > All and choose Market and select Uninstall Updates. Reboot and you should be back in the old market. OP posted it if you already received the update.

Do you mean market enabler?
Try search "market" in play store.maybe u will find what u are seeking.
i had a similar problem today so maybe this will help you...i will start from the begining.
i was using dark night v3 but when i updated to v5.5 today, two of my important apps were not working. it says in the play store that they wernt compatible with my device. i tried restoring anyway with titanium backup free version but when it popped up to confirm instal (where it shows permissions) it would say failed and then crash the phone on the restoring data
so i bought the pro key for titanium backup. the pro version skips this step and installs in the background. AND IT WORKED! i click on my two apps and they work as before.
i hope this helps you also.

Maybe flash back to the compatable rom, install the app, backup with titanium pro version, flash to new rom then restore with TB pro. it seems the hypershell feature in pro version can bypass the incompatable restriction.
