hi, i have the T-Mobile nexus one that i am currently using on the Rogers network and I am not able to use the HSPA+ connection, now i see that the AT&T Nexus One is out which has the same radio as Rogers.
I just want to know if there is any way that i can flash the At&T Radio on my T-Mobile Nexus One and get the full 3.5G connection???

No, sell (or return if you can) your phone and buy (get) the correct one. Its hardware

Can the original Milestone run on 3G using T-Mobile?
Speaking as someone who has the original European Milestone, I can tell you that NO, the 3G radio does not work on T-Mobile. I'm not certain if it's true or not, but my dealer told me that if I go into roaming on AT&T's towers, the 3G will work with them. I guess it depends one what frequency bands they use, the euro Milestone is on 900/2100MHz. Edge works great on the other hand....
If you want a nice keyboard Android with T-Mobile 3g, go for the new G2.

I tried to get TMobile service for my Nexus one but it wouldn't pick up 3G. So I called Google tech support and they said my Nexus one is an AT&T only nexus one. What's up with that? I thought this was an unlocked phone able to handle any GSM carrier? Can I get it to work on TMobile?

maybe they meant AT&T 3G, it should pickup the EDGE network on Tmo or you are in a dead zone.

it will work on tmobiles edge service, but not on 3G. tmobile and att have different frequencies for their 3G signals. and yes, there are 2 kinds of nexus ones. one for tmobiles frequency, and one for atts frequency.
If I root the phone will I be able to use it on tmobile?
No, Tmobile runs 3G through 1700mhz band & ATT runs 3G through 850mhz & 1900mhz bands. Both carriers use 850/1900mhz bands for gprs & edge network. There is no way to change the frequencies your phone uses because its a hardware issue. This has been attempted many many times with the US always getting phones last.
This is something to determine when first buying the phone. Did t-mobile sell you the wrong version of the nexus?

There is a difference between "unlocked", meaning - any SIM can go in and the phone won't stop it from working, and "correct band for GSM/3G", which is in hardware - the phone has support for X different frequencies of GSM and Y different frequencies of UMTS (3G), and if the carrier you're trying to connect to doesn't work with any of those frequencies and works with some other ones - having a working SIM won't help you, since the phone won't find the working frequencies.
And this question was answered about 10000 times.
Is it possible to get a T-mobile N1 to support the 3G Bands 850/1900 that the bell network supports? I know it is possible to flash different radios with android phones. I am still a fairly new user to android but i'am trying to learn and u can't learn with out asking questions
Thanks,
Ryan
You won't get 3G. You need the AT&T version for Telus/Bell/Rogers. You could try Wind or Mobilicity.
well that sucks, neither of those are in Nova Scotia where i am located
You could always try to look for someone to trade with, AT&T for Tmobile Nexus.
But it would probably be hard to do in person if there is no demand for it in Nova Scotia.
I don't know how safe it would be to trade by mail.
Any plans that Wind or Mobilicity will come to Nova Scotia? Just curious.
You could get it to work on Rogers GSM network but you won't get 3G, I could be wrong but I don't think Bell or Telus have GSM networks so you're out of luck there.
Oh yeah, there is that little snafu too. Even worse.
It will work on Rogers but you won't get 3G speeds.
It won't work at all on Bell/Telus.

So are you saying his Tmobile won't work on Bell/Telus at all?
But an AT&T will work fine on Telus, with 3G as well?
I am considering buying a nexus one for when I switch to telus next month.
Yes, the T-Mobile version will only work on Rogers/Fido with 2G only.
It will not work on Bell/Telus at all, ever.
It will only work on 3G on Wind Mobile and Mobilicity.
If you want full Rogers/Telus/Bell support, you need the AT&T version.

If you're a Canadian and you want a "Nexus One-like" experience on Bell/Telus/Rogers, and you're having trouble finding one with the right 3G bands...
Get an HTC Desire from Telus. Problem solved. If you don't like Sense UI you can flash it with all sorts of ROMs that will make it feel more like an N1, or you can put MIUI on it, or Cyanogen, etc...
Or according to mobile syrup(can't link) the nexus S will be on the big 3 in march
Nexus one. No 3g with rogers . Does someone knows why I only get edge on my nexus?

Did it work before?
There are two versions of Nexus One's, the AWS TMO version, and the AT&T version (which I believe is compatible with Rogers). Since both companies use different frequencies for 3G data, if you are using the wrong one, you will only be able to receive edge due to hardware limitations.
I'm assuming you are in a 3g area? Other people around you get 3g OK?
Settings - Wireless & networks - Mobile networks: Is it set to "Use only 2g networks"?
there are 2 versions of the nexus one. one version only works with tmobile 3g, and the other version works with ATT/Rogers 3G and supports 850/1900mHz. you need the second version. you probably purchased the wrong nexus one version.
the rogers version is no longer sold, only the tmobile version. so you will have to find one used on ebay or craigslist.
I have an N1 that uses AT&T/Rogers bands and I connect to Roger's 3g network fine. What part of the country are you in? I'm in the Thunder Bay, Ontario area and I haven't had connection issues yet.

Yeah, you have to make sure you bought the correct model to run on Rogers. Same network bands as AT&T in the US.
The T-Mo version can't use anything higher than EDGE.
So, I'm using a P925 thrill AT&T branded which is UNLOCKED on T-mobile USA. But only getting 2G edge data speeds, and I'm being told no matter what I do, or what baseband I flash, I will never get anything other than edge on this device. My question is, is there a comparable device that DOES offer 3g/4g T-mobile USA compatibility?
I'm trying to migrate from unlocked iPhone's (again, using on T-mobile USA) to Android - simply because I'm bored of iPhone's... Have had them all except the 4S - but have a iPhone 4 so its pretty much the same thing. While I know the 3D of the Thrill is a little gimmicky, I think its one of the coolest "gimmicks" to hit in a long time, and because I only recently got a 3D TV -- well, recording 3D video's and watching them at home is pretty effin cool.
So, am I stuck with a T-mobile branded Galaxy device if I want 4G or 3G on T-mobile USA?
Any advice would be helpful, since I'm pretty much an Android Noob! THANKS!
If I remember correctly the optimus 3d might work with t-mobile usa. But you might have to double check just to make sure .
This is off topic, but how did you unlock your phone?
You should be able to use the 2100 UMTS band with T-Mobile, but I believe you need both the 1700 and 2100 bands for full 3G. If so, you need a baseband for either T-Mobile, Wind or another Canadian Carrier with T-Mo's 3G bands. The nice thing about this phone is it's flexibility of use with other networks by baseband flash. (Now we need other leaked GB basebands.... Ugh.)
If you want a non branded Android phone that works on Tmobile 3G/4G bands look at the Incredible S, Sensation (International Version), Sensation XE, Nexus Galaxy, the TELUS version of the Galaxy S II and the Nexus S.

http://www.atgsm.com/LG_P920_Optimus_3D_Black_p/phone-lgp920black.htm
So are there any basebands available that I can flash to my p925 to get t-mobile usa 3g/4g speed?
Q: how did I unlock my p925?
I took it to a store, and they unlocked it for me.

I am also looking for this baseband so I can get my LG Thrill 4G to work with 3G (or hopefully 4G) speeds on T-Mobile. Please share the love!
I'm only getting 2G speeds on T-Mobile (I am in the USA, San Francisco area).
