Hi
Is there an App that will make all you email accounts refresh ( check for new emails )?
Currently I have to enter each account, then for each ask them to refresh - bit of a pain with multiple accounts.
cheers
Go to the account settings and the download frequency is there.

my hotmail acc is setup to use plus.
i would like to use the pop3 / smtp settings to pull / receive email.
Is it possible to setup a hotmail account using the pop3 / smtp settings you get with plus? As soon as I create a new email acc and add in my hotmail credentials it auto directs me to the live browser page and asks me to log in.
I would like my hotmail to work seamlessly like gmail does.
Apologies if this question has been asked before. I have had a good look around the place.
I had the same problem, I downloaded the cab located in this thread to install Windows Live. Follow the instructions for setting up Hotmail, don't remember exactly but it was easy to figure out.
After that my Hotmail was available in Outlook, and if you set "Sync Frequency" to "As Items Arrive" under the "Sync Schedule" option, you get Microsoft's version of Push email.
seems to have done the trick. Many thanks for the advice.
I have 3 different google hosted email accounts added to the gmail app on my galaxy. When I try to email a file/photo/... from other apps on the phone the account that was added last is used. I know that you can not change the From: email account with gmail app but is there a way to set the default account for sending emails? I want the emails to be sent from the first account which is a default one for the phone so I am not sure why the 3rd one is used. Any ideas?
I have 5 hotmail accounts used for various things. If i sync my main hotmail account to login and sync with people, can i still set up and access my other 4 hotmail accounts without migrating their contacts into people or messing anything else up?
Yes, you can. Just add them and then in the settings of the email account choose what you want to sync.
Yep.
As said above, add the account, then you can chose which out of email, contacts and calendar you want to sync
Brilliant thanks!
Did you end up with 5 tiles named "Hotmail"?

He should not, at least my second Hotmail account was automatically named Hotmail 2 And then I renamed it.
Do the email accounts get added to the Programs list if we don't want to have all 4 tiles on the start screen?
I really hope they change the way email is handled as having four 'seperate' apps for each email account is a bit clunky. Would be nice to have an email hub or something where we can access the other accounts. Or something like different Start Screens where we can swipe left to access different screens and could then add all the email accounts to one start screen.
Hey all,
I am aware that Google has extended the expiry date for EAS. So this means we should still see the option for Push email, or the "as item arrives" setting while setting up email.
I only use GMail, no calendar.
I dont see the option of "as item arrives" in my GMail accounts when I set them up. My GMail settings are setup like that because I have been using Push on iOS and then Android for last 3 years.
How can I get the "as item arrives" setting to show up in GMail ? It does show in my hotmail account settings.
Device: Lumia 820 on Telstra (Australia)
I would suggest creating the Account as an "Outlook" Account on the phone and entering the server address manually, see: http://email.about.com/od/accessinggmail/f/Gmail_Exchange_ActiveSync_Settings.htm
You can then deactivate syncing of Contact and Calendar. I guess in your current Setup you are using IMAP to connect to GMail and WP does not support IMAP Push/Idle.

Yeah, this is correct. IMAP is the preferred choice isn't it ? Web GMail shows either POP or IMAP.

OK, didn't know that. So what protocol do Hotmail use then for Push/idle ? Because my hotmail account is always up to date.........
Hotmail uses the Exchange ActiveSync Protocol. This is currently still supported for new Connections by GMail as well but will no longer allow new devices to be connected from July onward. If you select "Outlook" as account type for a new Account it will use EAS.
IMAP is what Google is currently pushing Non-Android users to use.
If you set up an account as "Gmail" on Windows Phone, it will give you the option for e-mail only or e-mail, contacts, and calendar. Even if you're not going to use the contacts and calendar sync, you must choose that option to get Exchange ActiveSync (while Google still allows you to set it up). If you choose e-mail only, it will only offer IMAP/POP.
I have following 2 queries regarding the people app on the one:
1. I have 2 google accounts configured on my device, but whenever i want to save a contact in the people app, it always takes the other account as default. is there a way to set a default gmail account??
2. Also when i try to send a contact's info via sms there is no option to share the details except as a vcard, unlike in touchwiz roms where long pressing the contact you can share the details via plain sms
