I've got a bunch of launchers loaded on my EVO, but my favorite ones for the G-Tab are ADW.launcher and ZEAM (XDA developed launcher).
I like both of them because they're snappy and offer a high degree of customization (e.g. being able to specify the number of columns and rows for both the workspace and the apps).
ADW.launcher seems a bit more customizable since it supports themes, but Zeam is nice because it gives you an app bar on the workspace that you can load up to 8 quick apps.
I still have a soft spot for Launcher Pro. I know that ADW has themes, but LP is fast and does what I need it to do. I have not found a reason to change, yet.
+1 for launcher pro. I liked the themes on ADW but I like the customizable buttons, configurable columns and rows and the widgets with LP.
Perchance I will try Zeam at some point, but in general I am happy with Launcher Pro.

zeam cause its lightweight.
Launcher Pro here too.
I'm still playing with Sweeter Home. I like to completely customize the screen layouts. It isn't flawless in operation, but it does provide me lots of time to fidget.
LauncherPro. I like the features and being able to save/load my screen layout/setup is fantastic after flashing ROMs and reinstalling apps.
I prefer GDE but can't get it to work properly (menu's pop up flaky) on the GTab so I'm using LauncherPro.
Launcher pro. Light weight and fast.
Allways been a fan of launcher pro on my android devices it just works how i like
Do any of the themes allow more than sixteen icons per page? There is a LOT of space that more icons could go in.
Is this one of those "phone & portrait" os design constraints?
i'm an ADW fan on my Droid 1 and i tried it on my gtab but i found zeam to be better. its faster and smoother, more lightweight, and actually resizes wallpaper properly. i love adw's themes but i rather go with speed than with custom icons. also love zeam's dock, has tons of space for icons. only thing i don't like about it is that you can't save your configuration.
launcher pro i never liked. probably cuz i can get most of that stuff for free on other launchers. gotta pay to resize a widget? cmon now. also live wallpaper is really sluggish for some reason on launcher pro. keeps stuttering when i turn on the screen, no matter what live wallpaper i try.

Same here. Zeam Launcher + MultiPicture Livewallpaper.
thats really cool! The light effects of that background are live?
I like gde but no icons with all the the themes. But... +10 on launcher pro

Iam I weird for not running a launcher? I always feel like they slow the system down a bit. I might have to start because all these cool looking home screens are making me jealous!
Launcher Pro... but I think I might try zeam after reading this thread.
I prefer Tap n' Tap for my launcher... OK, who am I kidding
Actually, I use Launcher Pro as well, but I also noticed the live wallpaper stuttering and always thought it was because every app seemed to want to reload itself upon wakeup. However, with all of the love out here for Zeam, I'm going to have to give that a try as well!
has anyone tried the go-launcher?
SInce there are several launchers around I'm curious what the pro's and con's are for each... I think tis thread is going a long way to that. Maybe once we managed to get all the info together we could start making a sticky with pros/cons for each launcher...
Just a thought
Which home launcher do you think is the best? AND WHY?
(i.e. Go launcher, Launcher pro, Adw Launcher, Zeam Launcher,.etc.)
I tried LauncherPro on my Nexus and didn't really like it. Using ADW on the G1, it seems fast and stable and allows me to configure quite a few things.
My choice is currently GO Launcher EX. For some reason ADW Launcher does not work too well for me.
I like LauncherPro for smoothness and the way it handles. I've not found better for that. The lack of options is a real disappointment though. There's very few configuration and customization options, especially with the App Drawer.
ADW has what I would say are those missing options, but doesn't feel as nice or responsive to me. I tend to install either GO Launcher or LauncherPro over it pretty early. I haven't tried Zeam. The "minimalistic" marketing as such doesn't appeal to me and shouts lack of functionality and economy basics. Not what I'm looking for, but then again I haven't tried it.
GO Launcher is my favourite for having so many options, also feeling nice, and a built-in manager. It's not perfect, but it's handy. I am leaning towards the smoothness of LauncherPro as of late and I just really wished it had some extra functionality.
I tried Wave Launcher last night, but I ran into a few issues with not being able to pick a default - It seemed two launchers were active and the phone halted to a crash. Now this solved itself after a reboot, but I expected more. It's not as smooth as I would've hoped and I don't like the gesture activation. I would rather the Wave was smoother and was the springboard dock itself. Also the App Drawer doesn't seem to hide background items properly.
I use zeam, eventhough it is very minimalistic, the features that it gives is great, with gesture binding, scrolling widget support, etc. try it out zeam.org it is also very light on the g1

I would say Go launcher Ex is best... it has lots of features plus its smooth on g1 and the cool themes that you could download... launcher 2 it also good but lacks features
Go launcher EX is the best I have tried so far.. I used to only use Launcherpro because it was smooth but launcher EX is even smoother on the G1 (and perfect on the hD2 )
I like Adw Launcher. It's pretty fast and has lots of features.
I personally prefer stock launcher2. Light and fast without all the extra customization settings. Other launchers seem to try really hard to improve on what is already pretty good.
Best Home Launcher!
Well, I think GDE was the best! But I think Zeam Launcher is more fast! I tried them both and loved them... if you want extra customizations, etc then go for the GDE launcher but if you want fast and light then Zeam Launcher is best choice for you! Hope that helped.
I'm running gb-12 rom right now and I'm just wondering if there was any possible way to have scrollable widgets on a touchwiz launcher (touchwiz 4).
I find the touchwiz launcher much more stable, smooth and responsive compared to more feature packed launchers like adw ex or launcher pro.
I would love using the touchwiz launcher as my primary launcher if it could use scrollable widgets.
..anybody?
No not unless the launcher supports it and very few stock launchers do. I would get a different launcher
Damn....
touchwiz 4 is so buttery smooth compared to launcher pro and adw (when it's not being buggy)

try go launcher
I've gotta try this, thanks.
I actually just downloaded this app called Android Pro Widgets and the contacts widget actually scrolls (After the hit the scroll button) it's one small extra step but worth it to keep touchwiz. Try it and see if you like it
Right now I'm using Launcher Pro on my Droid 1 but its really laggy at times especially when I go back to the home screen. Any recommendations on an replacement launcher that has these features:
A - Customizable dock at the bottom which I can put shortcuts to my apps.
B - At least three screens so I can put my widgets.
C - Drawer that can let me move up and down not left and right while scrolling for my apps.
Also which widgets are recommended for the following since I highly suspect no other launcher has these - calendar and contacts?
Many thanks in advance.

I choose adw launcher ex 1.3.3.. customizable dock, many screen and drawer up + down..
Thank you so much for the recommendation. I have ADW Launcher Ex running now. It feels so much smoother and faster then Launcher Pro was running. For my calendar and contacts widget I switched to Android Pro Widgets which gives the same Sense like experience that the ones Launcher Pro comes with.... if not better since APW comes with some nice skins and better options.
The only thing I don't care about APW at this point is not having the scrollable dock like Launcher Pro has. But I'm willing to give that up in exchange for better performance. The lag on Launcher Pro was starting to really annoy me.
Actually, if you swipe up on the dock, a hidden dock appears.
There is nothing there at first but you can drag unlimited apps to the bottom of the screen and it will fill up and will scroll across...
If you swipe down on it, the default dock appears.
if you don't need scrollable widgets give Zeam a try
I agree that ADW is much faster than current LauncherPro too ... much better
Just overclock the handset a little bit and launcherpro runs like a dream, IF you do a few minor tweaks:
DO NOT use the 3D app drawer. It's pretty laggy and slows down the rest of launcher pro, even if it's not actually on the screen right now.
DO NOT use more than 3 or 4 home screens
Don't use many widgets on your DEFAULT home screen.
Go Launcher is wonderful. Fast, feature filled.
I personally like Launcher ProPlus. I do believe it is faster and smoother than ADW. Also, if you're running CM7 you can lock the home screen in memory and that will help.
Or try V6 Supercharger script. With that script my Launcher Pro NEVER lags.

what are you on about?!
I have 7 filled homescreens with widgets:set cpu, calender, word of the day, news, movies, messages, people, gmail and i have fancy widget and batt statt on my default screen. LP is always fast
Demoman
ADW is better than Launcher pro.. check these settings.. if it's a little lag when waking.. check box on "keep home in memory "..

I used the touch wiz launcher originally, but want to try the google now launcher. But now none of my apps show up. Am I better off starting over from scratch with a factory reset?
Which launcher are you using?
I am using nova.
Assuming you did not disable the TW launcher, go to setting...scroll down to applications and select. When that menu pop up, look to your upper left corner you will see three dots going down...click it. Choose default applications, than you will see the option to choose your default home screen under "set as default".

I like Apex, but it was becoming difficult to tell what themes, icons, launcher would stick. I'd fix one thing and something else would vanish, got tired of that. So I found a theme from the Theme Store and now I can stand looking at Touchwiz!!

The Google launcher works fine as long as you don't set up the secure folder, after that is done all the apps disappear from the app drawer...

I am currently using Nova Launcher Prime. Also have Apex Launcher Pro Installed and running in my Note 7 as just in case.
There are reasons that I am not using TouchWiz UX (Grace) Launcher nor Chrome Now Launcher as you will see below:
Here are a 4 Home Launchers that I didn’t choose to stay with after testing with the Note 7
Google Now Launcher – Way too limited. Didn’t transferred the app icons to the App Drawer. So I can’t even copy the Phone Dialer icon over to the Apps Dock. Disappointed since I was wishing to truly integrate Google vanilla experience to the Note 7.
Go Launcher Z – They only allow you to use their Widgets and no third party Widgets. WHAT!!! No Go! They also are getting into Ads and charging lots to get rid of ads (GO Launcher Super v i p price $19.99 (45% off the full price). Go Launcher Prime is $5.99 which I have.
ADW Launcher 1 (New) – Getting less customized and more Google material style. For an example I like transparent App Drawer. The new ADW Launcher only gives you colors like 90s websites for the background in the App Drawer. I used to love ADW, but they are now going backwards.
TouchWiz UX (Grace) - Very lagging, no default access to Live wallpapers, you can't see some of your icons in landscape mode, etc. I really tried to stay with TouhWiz UX. The one thing that turned me to another home launcher is that I am tired of having to go portrait mode to select apps when I am already in landscape mode.
There are serious enough problems with TouchWiz UX to give good reason for the power user to switch home launchers. TouchWiz UX is lagging, no default access to Live wallpapers, you can't see some of your icons in landscape mode, etc. We can get around that with a custom home launcher like Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, etc. I found that both Nova Launcher and Apex Launcher doesn't get in the way of Samsung's features. Meaning both of these home launchers allow all Samsung features to work within these launchers on Note 7.
Personally I don’t like "3D" home launchers. Which is the reason I didn’t try them with Note 7.
Recommendation Note:
I recommend trying either Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher. Both worked wonderfully with Note 7 and provide much customization. Nova Launcher is the first one I would try out only because of the third party customization for the Nova Launcher.
I use HomeSmack to switch between home launchers. Works flawlessly with Note 7.

Not sure what you mean by "...can't see all icons in landscape mode...." for Touchwiz. I don't remember Touchwiz rotating to landscape on the home screen. One reason I've not liked it since about donut or was it gingerbread?
Nova Prime here as well.
Nova Prime, but might try AL3 ( Action Launcher ) down the road...
Nova Prime here as well
