Ok so I had to do a factory reset on my nexus for an unrelated reason. I am on the web2go data plan and I had my apn settings for data and another for mms. Everything was working fine until I did the reset. I entered the same settings and now I cant send or receive any mms's. Here are my settings for my mms:
Name: T-Mobile US-MMS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
APN type: mms
Everything else is set to default. This kinda sucks because some long text messages that I send or receive are converted to mms. So any help on how to get my mms back. I would feel cheated having a superphone with no mms *cough iphone <3.0 cough*
I had a stock Nexus One ROM and then flashed the Desire one... since I've flashed my MMS has not been working either... and I definitely have the correct APN settings, I've tripple checked it!
Problem solved. I forgot to put default as apn type for data access.
Above do you have the same settings above as mine? Also did you try reboot? Was mms fine before you flashed rom?
My settings are different as I'm using Vodafone NZ but I've looked up the information and I'm 100% sure I've got it correct... Are you saying your MMS didn't work until you changed the APN type for your data APN to default??
And yeah I was able to PXT and 3G when I first got my Nexus One, after I flashed the Desire ROM I lost 3G and PXT... When I set the correct APN I managed to get 3G working but still no MMS
I am having the same issues on tmobile us. I can not get the pictures to download. Before I had some settings wrong, after fixing them I do not get the error anymore, but I do not get to download the message. Anyone have any ideas or solutions yet??? I am using Modaco Aplha 19

What about sending MMS? If I try to send an MMS it just sits there loading forever and never sends (This is using handcent) and when I try to download an image it just says downloading forever... :/
I'm relieved to hear someone else has a similar issue on Alpha 19.. Means its more likely to be a software issue and not something to do with my provider !
guys - you'll probably get more help if you search/post your issue in the MoDaCo Alpha 19 thread vs. starting a new one. this - unfortunately - is a common issue with this version of the ROM. it seems to be an inconsistent issue as well; sometimes i can send/receive without a problem other times i can't.

Given the problems experienced by Vodafone users with HTC mobiles, I have posted my solution to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901491

I've read many other posts about this and have tried many things but i still can't get MMS to work on my tilt on the Tmobile network. Does anyone have an AT&T Tilt with working MMS that they are using on Tmobile. Could you tell me what all your connection settings are. Thanks.
Go to Tmobile web site, there is instruction how to set it up
Seriously there was a thread about this just a couple of days ago.
geez
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566675
I've already looked at this thread. The tmobile data reconfigurer doesn't work. Can someone who has working mms just copy down all their connection settings. Thanks
I've seen that thread and i've tried the tmobile data configurer, nothing works. Can someone with working mms just copy down all there connection settings. Thanks
I just use this cab which I made myself, and it works fine! Hope this helps..
nope, that didn't work. I've got it to receive the message but when its downloading the picture it never goes about 0% and eventually it says gateway timeout.
what rom r u running? I'm thinking maybe you have some AT&T medianet settings creating issues.
Do you have data on your plan?
Just tried but didn't work.
Called O2 looks like there is only provisioning for data networks not MMS APNs
When you try to add an APN you get three fields
APN :
User name:
Password:
Tried putting the O2 settings in with O2 second line support and nope can't be done as no server address etc is available .
Anyone else managed to send an MMS ? Apparently some people on O2 cant even send texts due to software problems with this phone .
i've recieved an mms, not tried sending one though.

looks like giffgaff uses could be stuffed as it works here too, though doesn't sending a text saying 'Settings' to 2020 on giffgaff get the settings sent to the phone?
or could try the htc connection setup from the market that may get the settings for you
MMS & text working fine for me.
the op should try the HTC Setup App from the hub, select the giffgaff settings ok it all and then powercycle the phone, hopefully that should work.
Can someone please give me their or tell me what settings they have at the bottom under edit or add APN in the |Network setup as I've tried both hard reset used GiGaf and O2 Pre and Post pay settings
Thanks
Hey,
I can confirm all is working now, i am able to send and receive mms on my giffgaff sim, some reason i just had to use the htc connection setup again, selecting giffgaff and it worked fine. Didnt even have to reset the phone!!
Ok , Hard reset the phone twice and now its working .
Seems something is not quite right here but it works now
Well I followed the instructions here:
overcome.mimzo.com/?page_id=66
with no issues. However now my 3G data via AT&T doesn't seem to connect. I can send and receive text messages with no issue. Also I swapped the SIM from my AT&T Blackberry and data services work fine so I don't think it has anything to do with the flash of Overcome. I did have to go in and turn the Access point back on for wap.cingular and reset the password to CINGULAR1 but still nothing but text messages. Any ideas?
Did you try changing the APN to "Broadband"?
I had the same issue last week but after changing the APN to Broadband as posted earlier, everything works great!

Try sending yourself a MMS first and see if you receive it.
And also check your apn setting.

If you're on Rogers Network, check if your apn is the same as mine

MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com

Authentication type: Not Set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4

EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw that you said your apn settings are correct.
Yup I have tried sending myself a MMS, it won't send. Thanks for being patient guys.
Ive been having the same issue with my captivate ever since I flashed ICS on my phone. I started with AOKP Build 27, and it hasnt worked since until I flashed Milestone 5 of AOKP saturday night. After restoring all my apps after flashing Milestone 5, my MMS worked for the first time in ages. I charged my phone, went to sleep, woke up, and my MMS no longer works. I have the correct APN settings as well. I think it has something to do with the Data Network being enabled or disabled upon startup, or something. Im not really sure.
I figured out how to fix my MMS issues, it may work with yours as well.
Try enabling both Data, and Data Roaming and sending yourself an MMS.
When I have them disabled, I cannot send or receive MMS. When enabled, MMS works fine.
Give it a try
Having the same problem. I just flashed Milestone 5 on saturday, and I haven't been able to send or receive MMS. Everything else works fine (apart from the screen not automatically turning on when I get a text). I wiped, re-installed milestone 5, and still no fix.
My screen turns on when I get a text, its just that when the screen turns back off, my captivate buttons dont stay lit to notify me i have an unread text message. They use to stay on with build 28, but ever since then they havent worked.
As for MMS, did you try my suggestion turning on Data Mode and Data Roaming?
Yes, I did. I tried doc's rom, and a few other ICS roms as well. Nothing works for MMS. Might flash back to a GB rom until the issue gets resolved.
I got MMS working. Go to your apn settings, and then hit the very left touch botton on the phone (looks like paper), and reset apn settings. Fixed mine. Even on original messaging app.

Resetting APN settings didnt work for me. I still have to Enable both Data Mode and Data Roaming to send MMS.
Hmm. I'll tell you exactly what I did.
-Downloaded Handcent
-Tried sending a pic to a buddy
-Message failed to send
-Uninstalled Handcent
-Went into APN, and selected "Rogers"
-Changed the MNC under rogers to 702
-Rogers APN deleted itself
-Reset default APN settings
-Re-Selected Rogers
My unsent MMS' suddenly sent.

Hmm. It's almost like sending MMS is "unstable". Sometimes, it wills send a picture, but a minute later, if I try to send another, It won't send. This is aggravating.
I tried everything suggest, I'm still having issues sending or receiving. Someone MUST know this issue, it changes from ROM to ROM. Some roms work some don't! I'm on RemICS right now and still can't get it to work. Argh!

I got mms working on RemICS by adding Internet+mms to APN type. Make sure to save after editing.

Check it out guys. Somehow this managed to fix it. Basically he deleted all the apn's and put in only one with the settings on his post. Check it out! Thanks for your help, problem solved.
Ever since hopping on 5.1.1 MMS has been sporadic for me.
I can receive fine, but sending is the problem. And doesn't matter if wifi calling is on or not.
T-Mobile says that they don't see attempts for MMS and filed a ticket to no avail.
It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?
I am rooted fyi.
On COF8
TWISTED SIXX rom (also happened on looper 5.1.1)
Google Messenger doesn't work
Stock Messaging shows sent but no one receives it.
this is really driving me crazy, i updated the mms port to 80 in apn settings to no avail.
If anyone got advice, would be appreciated.
i havent had any issues until tonight.. now my phone wont send them all the sudden.
I read that MMS were being disabled by one carrier due to that new Android vulnerability.. maybe that's why
I just figured out it was Google messaging... They updated the app today and lots of people are reporting it broke theirs too. Now I have to go back to the stock app which turns on the fricking screen for every text. I'll never understand that feature. Drives me insane.

For me it's texting as a whole that dies. My data still works otherwise, but SMS/MMS fail to send. Whenever it happens I clear cache/dalvik, reconnect to my wifi and it seems to fix it. Doesn't work every time though.
As far as I've noticed it happens randomly. I'll try to send a text and maybe 5-10 mins later I get a send failed receipt. If I just try to send it again without fiddling with my data it'll just hang again and fail.
Happens with stock and chompsms. I had the issue where my phone would say it had sent but the person wouldn't receive it. That only happened once though, every other time it's given me a fail. The thing is, even though it says it has failed, some of the texts make it through regardless - which obviously means I've been sending a lot of people the same message twice recently lol.

texts for me fail once mms hangs. Nothing will come in or out until I get network failure responses 10-15 min later.
Either way, what the hell t-mobile?

Yeah I was referring to my problem. It sounds like others are dealing with something different than I am.

So it just happened again, several texts failed to send, but I got a "Unfortunately, IPsec Service has stopped" popup. Maybe it's something to do with whatever that is?

That's Wifi Calling.
I can confirm issue occurs regardless of wifi calling
For me SMS or MMS were not sending with VOLTE on. I turned it off and the issue was resolved

Yeah, i've tested with it on and off no luck.
So update, I've narrowed down the issue to APN settings and Google Messenger.
Google Messenger has a tough time recognizing our APN's because the APN fields do not have mms protocol options which is what google messenger looks for.
So my next question is, what is the most ideal APN settings?
I'm at my end with this. Gonna try a int'l rom and see if that helps at all
Update:
Int'l Rom MMS while connecting to wifi or not on google messenger stock messenger any messenger works flawlessly, tested 20 mms 4 a piece on 5 diff sms apps that previously weren't working.
Why are t-mobile roms inherently corrupt in this aspect?
Can someone adv what the EPC apn is? EPC.t-mobile.com ??
Can someone explain the difference between epc.t-mobile.com apn and fast.t-mobile.com ?
MMS fails 100% of the time on fast.t-mobile.com
MMS Is successful 100% of the time on epc.t-mobile.com
I had the problem of messages either not coming in or not sending until I set up a new APN with these settings -
In Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Name: (whatever you want)
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Multimedia message proxy: Not set
Multimedia message port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: Not set
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roming protocol: IPv4
Mobile virtual private network operator type: Not set
Set this as the APN to use and reboot your phone
It's basically the same APN settings that come with the phone with the exception of the APN type
