I cant send or recieve MMS messages and neither can my friend who has the G1. We both dont have a data plan which is probably the reason. Is there some mod or app we can use to send/recieve picture messages
i dont know if im allowed to but bump.
Which provider are you with? You need to enter a separate APN entry for MMS.
im with tmobile. and now i can recieve mms but i still cant send
I don't know too much about T-Mobile, but try this:
Get to your APN settings (settings->Wireless Controls->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names)
If there isn't one there for MMS, create a new APN (Menu, New APN)
Enter in the following Settings:
Name: T-Mobile MMS
APN: http://216.155.174.84/servelts/mms
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servelts/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
APN Type: mms
leave the rest of the fields as whatever they default to, even if blank.
Let me know if this works out
will doing this charge me extra?

Hey guys I'm curious, before I make the change how many of us can access mms on our vogues?
I know my carrier (Bell Mobility, Canada) blocks them. what about the rest of you?
In android, winmo, or in general?
i can send with verizon but not recieve
I have verizon so I can send but not receive.
In truth I've never really used mms all that much on any phone.
On sprint, so I receive a link but not send.
interesting..
all right no worries then I was going to disable mms, but if it partially works for some of you we'll leave it.

It doesnt work right off the bat for me.It only sends on verizon for me if i change these settings. Recieving still doesnt work regardless. Mabye you can help get it going for us.
Go to Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Android
Modify the following settings:
MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<your ten-digit phone number>
MMS proxy: leave empty
MMS port: 80
MMS works if you use the right settings.
Unfortunately right settings is carrier-specific. And it's not server-provided.
Something is botching the receive messages though. That needs to be fixed.

A quick search of the 'nets says Bell Mobility does support MMS, they just charge you 50 cents per message.
I've seen:
MMSC Server: http://BellMMSC.bell.ca
User Agent: LGE-LG8700 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0
User Agent Profile: http://uaprof.bellmobilite.ca/BMC_LGE_LG8700_CX87BL05.rdf
MMG IP: 206.047.201.009
MMG Port: 554
Buffer Length: 7
User Agent String: LGE-LGE8700 QtvPlayer/5.4
As an example of MMS settings.
Verizon allows the sending and receiving of MMS (pic messages) works on Winmo but only sending works on andoid. I believe jnadke mentioned that android does see the incoming message as a MMS but somehow the messaging app does not know how to retrieve it.

k I didn't open this thread for support . Bell blocks mms to vogue esns, which is why I said it doesn't work for me. As I already said I was going to disable the mms portion or the messaging app, but if you guys are able to use it I'll leave it alone.

What would benefit by disabling it?
Hi
I am having trouble sending an recieving photo messages, i am on orange payg and have just spent 30min talking to them and they dont know thr reason why.
My APN settings are
Name Orange MMS
APN orangemms
Proxy not set
Port not set
User Name Orange
Password Multimedia
Server not set
MMSC ://mms.orange.co.uk (has http before it)
MMS Proxy 192.168.224.10
MMS Port 8080
MCC 234
MNC 33
Authentication type PAP
APN type mms
Is there anything wrong with this???
Have you tried selecting the 'Auto-retrieve' and 'Roaming auto-retrieve' in: Messaging > Settings > (scroll down) Multimedia message settings? As for sending, try enabling 'Data roaming' in Mobile network settings. I am thinking that because Orange/T-mobile have merged, maybe you are trying to send/receive the message over the old T-Mobile network. Just a thought. Hope it works for you.
I've got the same settings as you, except one minor difference, I have a / at the end of the mmsc (ie http://mms.orange.co.uk/)
I have exactly the same problem and have also tried phoning Orange. They just talked me through the settings but I was already set up correctly. Very annoying! I would love to hear of a solution to this problem.

I can confirm that this problem has been around for me long before the merger, basically since I got my phone back in July.
@FloridaK - I also have the slash at the end, but it's not working.
Hey SaskTel users...having issues with MMS, could anyone help with their settings?
I created access point for data (named it browser) with these settings:
APN: inet.stm.sk.ca
MCC:302
MNC:780
APN type: default
then created a second access point for MMS with these settings:
APN: proxy.stm.sk.ca
Proxy: mig.sasktel.com
Port:80
MMSC: http://mms.sasktel.com
MMS Proxy: mig.sasktel.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 780
APN Type: mms
However, whenever I receive a picture, I get a text from [email protected] and it gives me the option to "Download", but nothing happens when I press it. I don't even get a thumbnail of the picture. Just a grey button that says download that appears to not do anything...any suggestions?
I have these all combined in one access point using inet.stm.sk.ca as the APN.
The only difference is the type is unspecified. Works fine for me.
Check your settings in the SMS app. In my rom, I go into the advanced settings section and make sure auto-retrieve is on. This will skip the 'download' button in the message. Also, you must have data on to retrieve MMS... wifi won't do it in my experience.
Hope this helps.
For some unknown reason the phone will not open text or MMS messages. I thought since Metro PCS uses T-Mobile's network that there would be no issues. Is there a way to fix this? I can make phone calls and use other features but I can't open MMS messages.

Yeah, I was going to suggest checking your APN settings, but didn't know the correct values for MetroPCS.
Hi guys.
I switched from AT&T to IDEA when I moved back to India.
I was able to send messages when I was on AT&T.
But now that I am on IDEA, I am not able to send the mesaage.
I receive below message. I tried multiple SMS apps but none worked. Any help will be appreciated.
Error:- message not sent. Phone number not formatted correctly.
I am using nexus 6 with stock 7.1.1 (august security patch)
https://www.komparify.com/blogs/index.php/apn/idea.html
Check your APN. Also, is your N6 a US model or world model?
My N6 is a us model. Also why would internet settings (APN) are required for text messaging? Internet works fine with LTE.
Text messaging is enabled through three fields in the APN: "MMSC", "MMS proxy" and "MMS port". In order for text messaging to work those fields must be filled in. In the case of my carrier, Straight Talk, it uses AT&T's settings for text messaging. In the APN it looks like this.
Code:
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
In taking a second look at the Idea APN, it doesn't appear to use those settings, but you might want to get a hold of Idea and ask them what is going on. It's unlikely the device itself is the issue, but being an XT1103 I have no way to know for certain.
I think it's has to do with # formatting. I had Tuenti Movistar app in Spain and when came back was getting incorrect format message as all #s were prefixed with +34 Spain country code by default. Uninstalled app and was fine with text and calling

Issue resolved
Thank you Strephon , Hjicons,
The issue resolved after changing the SIM. so it seems the sim was faulty or something.
Thanks,
Nilesh.
