I just tried out Bluetooth file transfer and it says that I don't have root access, is it just the App or is it just the rom? I've had a few other apps say something about not having root access as well.

I tried another program for bluetooth and it says I don't have root access. Another thing is that I haven't gotten the root access allow/deny screen like i saw on my friends G1

no the file you need is in the protected area.
superone click I use version 1.6.5 will allow to both root and unroot your phone with zero risk I have done it loads of times.
it will push the SU program which gives apps super user access then when you click unroot i deletes it all. like I say zero risk. I have done it on three different phones all you do is pop the phone into usb debug mode connect it to your pc and click the button that says root
install a file browser that supports root browse to the file I mentioned view it copy down what you need then unroot the phone as long as you dont go deleting things in the / area you will be just fine.
I'm familiar with the linux filesystem, but what i'm not sure is how to access or view this file system. Say I wanted to place a file in /etc/system, what program can i use to do that? When connected to my PC via USB, all I get is the SD card with download..data...titanium backup..gps...etc
Cheers

First you need to root your phone. As the term implies it gives you root access.
Then use an app like root explorer to get into root directories, mount them as rw, then do as you will.

Hello,
for me sounds like you need root access to your system to see this folders and a file explorer with root too like root explorer....but is not for free. I already didn´t found a free option.
Is only a idea...I didn´t try self
Edit: I was too slow :-D

My phone is rooted with Darky's 9.5. I would know how to do this in linux, mounting...chmod for permissions, something like that...are you saying an app like root explorer lets me access /etc, /mnt, and so on? Are there free alternatives?
If you want you can try this both....but the feedback is very mixed..some like some hate
Android Mate Free
Super Manager
If you try please gimme a feedback
Got a $50kindle just as a reader and to store all my work pdf manuals and docs. I want to create folders and move the files to the sdcard. I can't find a file manager app that is able to do this. Seems to be a write issue. Do I need to root just do this simple thing? Assuming root would give access. Managing files from PC would defeat purpose.
At this time, I want to change as little as possible about the OS and device. If I root it will I be unable to get updates from Amazon?
Thanks all.
try ES FILE EXPLORER...i do that but i have root so don't really know if it works with or without root... give it a go.
Also if you root you will not get updates from Amazon, but the rooting gives you a whole new features and open the tablet for greater things... also try to install Greenify and then, this will work like a 150$ tablet...

Unfortunately, I think you will need to root to do what you want. See this thread if you haven't already.

Rooting by itself won't change the way the OS operates on the surface. Most people who root then manually disable future OTA updates. If you don't manually disable future updates, then you should still get them. Any future updates from Amazon, though, could very well revoke root access, meaning you'd be right back in your current situation, i.e. unable to write to your SD card.
First of all, I found this guide under the S7 Edge section on XDA. I tried it and it worked on my rooted A70, so I wanted to share it here.
There are two methods. One of them needs root access, and the other doesn't. I didn't try the one which doesnt need root access.
METHOD 1 (NEEDS ROOT)
1- Install a file explorer which can access and edit system folders.
2-Find build.prop and copy it.
3-Paste it to your main storage.
4-Open it with a text editor and go to the end of the lines.
5-You will see a line which says "ro.config.tima=1". Turn it into "ro.config.tima=0".
6-Save and copy new edited build.prop.
7-Paste it to it's original place and overwrite it.
8-Reboot your phone and check Samsung Health.
Rootless method is not working but if you want to test it, test it:
METHOD 2 (DOESN'T NEED ROOT)
I DIDN'T TRY THIS AND I AM NOT SURE IF IT WORKS
1-Uninstall the Samsung Health App.
2-Install Samsung Health version 4 https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/s-health/s-health-4-5-1-0011-release/s-health-4-5-1-0011-android-apk-download/
3-Launch the app and follow the steps to complete setup.
4-Update it via Google Play.
Thanks to @CuBz90
The non root method doesn't seem to work. App not installing.

Thanks for testing, I wasn't already giving it chance. I will note that it is not working.
How did you edit the /system? I am having trouble mounting it with read write privileges. My phone is rooted. Unable to "adb root" or mount system r/w. My multiple file explorer apps have had root access granted by magisk but I am still not able to replace it. I tried deleting it to see if I would be able to. I was able to but unable to paste the updated build.prop back into system. Had to reflash ??

I think you're having trouble with pasting (overwriting) the edited build.prop.
I am using FX File Manager with root addon. You can try it. And, do NOT forget to give read/write acces to fx. To do so, when you open /system section you will see a lock icon on somewhere (top right) as I remember. Click it and give permission. Then paste the edited build.prop onto the original one.
Write here if you have any other problem.
Samsung Health
It’s very strange - my old Lenovo tablet, A3300 a firmware ResurectionRemix, Android 7, calmly sees and sets Samsung health from the playmarket. WADW? (What am I doing wrong?):смех:
Hi there, this sounds dumb. But still is there any way to give root access to some certain apps on unrooted apps by TWRP maybe?
For example, say I'd like to FK Manager, but I want phone unrooted for some reasons, can it be given root access somehow?

Not that I know of. I'm no dev, but I've never seen it. I feel like there's some adb command that MIGHT be able to do it, but that's just my 2 cents.

But is it possible to systemise su, means 'su' in in system/bin or /system/xbin, and giving access to the certain app as by ownership or something.
Look at the screenshots of properties /data/data/com.franco.kernel folder, here this folder can be and only by FK Manager, here's app_10328 is UID of FKM.
Coming back to su, in it's case giving access to FKM by somehow as it have access to it's data folder (/data/data/com.franco.kernel).
