I think they look very good on my phone. coming tomorrow..
New Icons for Androkkid "TransparentFrames" finally!
These new Icons should work better for those of you who have like me found the standard winmo icon ugly and pixelated.
I have always thought that some of the IPhone's attraction was the beautiful icons that were uniform in size and shape. So I made my own for Ifonz (based on other people's graphic work). When Androkkid came along I loved the scenic wallpapers you could use but I thought the beautiful scenery of the wallpapers became too cluttered with the IPhone style icons and that the square icons ruined the effect of the beautiful wallpapers.
So these new icons are designed to preserve a uniform style and at the same time be better integrated into the "scenery" by using transparency.
I hope that some of you will have a look at these and tell me what you think
PS If you resize these, they will not work. If they are resized by Androkkid they are fine.
If you want to use these and need other icons, ask me on the themes Thread and I'll see what I can do.

New!!! Golden Frames
For those who really want to pimp up our phones
here are some Screenshots
The theme used is Teacher's Gold which you find below with the icons
More Screenshots
and even more
the icon files
Finally the iconfiles!
Please consider to try them out, I don't think they are as beautifull as some of the Iphone like icons, like the ones made by bluemetalaxe or Stereo's Leopard, but when you see them glide across the scenery in Androkkid they feel much more integrated into the scenery than the Iphone like icons which leave kind of a square hole in the scenery, however beautiful they are. So what do you have to loose, give 'em a try:
Edit have added new iconfile today 15/12-09 they are now checked out for "white and black" holes and should be okay

These look nice, thank you very much! Any chance you could add a couple more icons to the package (96x96): SMS, Voicemail, Calender, Missed Calls? Or, just tell me how to make these myself and I'll take a stab at it, there's a few web icons I'd like, too. Thanks again!

I'll gladly tell you how I made these, but first here are some suggestions for icons, but what do you mean by an icon for "missed calls" In Androkkid you get a small red circle with the number of missed calls you have. If you think about something else give me a hint
Hope you like these

What is problematic with winmo is that it doesn't support "white". In an icon with transparancy, pure white will show up like a black hole in the icon so you have to substitute white with another light white-ish color.
Another problem is this: When a graphic program like gimp or photoshop compresses a png to a smaller size. it conserves the smoothness of the png by making semitransparant pixels, these are not supported either and show up like white holes in the icons.
If you just index the png it will avoid the semitransparent pixels, but it will scale down with a very crude and pixelated result.
My way around this is to put the compressed png in a frame filled with a very nondescript greyish color. Then I have to eraze all the grey color and decide pixel by pixel which pixels have enough color to let them remain.
This is why it takes so much time to resize these icons. I have to do this every time. In the icon files I have uploaded you can find both an empty and a filled frame.
If you want to try this for yourself you are very welcome to do so but remember that you have test each icon on your phone to find "holes" before you publish them.
PS I haven't tested the last batch of seven icons yet but I will test them before I publish a zip file with extra icons.
PS Gimp is a fantastic graphic program which you can download for free here
Best of luck
Missed Calls
And here's a missed calls icon in three colors
Icons
These all look great, and wow that was fast! By "missed calls" I should have put "Call History" or "Call Log", but it looks like you got the gist with the icons because they're perfect! I'm probably pushing my luck, but maybe a "Tasks" icon? It's the only request I can think of off the top of my head. I'll check out the app you suggested tonight and see if I can create a few "Web" graphics, thanks again!

I have some specific icon requests if possible. I'll also be attempting my own icon pack in the near future.. I'm waiting for this quarter's classes to end first.
SMS like above in the bubble, but instead of a blue bubble, a green one like the MMS.
A voice mail icon
Internet Connection Sharing
Clean Ram
MySoftReset
A lock
3 Icons for the Sound Profile widget
Sims 3 (but I can live without this one) ;x
Thank you so much.. These Icons look great, thats why I hope you can make these so my phone can look even better.
New Theme
Am I the first to produce a new theme for Androkkid?
Let me introduce Obsidian, for those who might prefer a more businesslike theme.
It has been developed on a QVGA screen so I have no idea whether it will work on other screen resolutions.
Just unzip and place the Obsidian folder in the Androkkid Themes folder. It will then be available to select under Settings
The Title buttons (more than shown) can be found in the Obsidian theme folder along with a blank if you wish to make different titles (I can make others if you aren't able to do that). I set the size of the Title buttons to 128 x 32 in Androkkid settings and they have to be positioned, as for any other icon. They can also be used as shortcuts as per normal icons. For example, in my setup, I have the Contact button pointing to my address book.
The 'Lock' Icon on the Home page is not part of the theme but has been designed to match. I have included that icon in the Obsidian theme folder, but none of the other icons.
8 December 2009
Obsidian.zip updated for compatibility with Androkkid 1.2.0.0 (inclusion of TopBarIcons, png) and correction of transparency problem with Edit & Delete buttons
15 December 2009
Obsidian.zip updated with modified graphics

There already is a cleanram icon (the one with the broom) but if you don't like it I can make another. For SoftReset I use the icon from the icon pack called "exit" (I use "Slide2shutdown" myself) There also is a bluelock (ScreenLock) in the iconpack I have that one in green and red too
I don't know which sound widget you mean, please give me a link or something.
Here are some examples, tell me what you think..
Internet Sharing
Below is a suggestion for Internet Sharing.
With a Globe from Everaldo Coelho's magnificent Crystal themed icons
Edit. Made a new versions of this icon where the arrows stand out more
Ive been learning how to do my own PS type work and have come up with a couple sets of glossy button icons with text. So far ive only been a consumer in the Android world and thought it was time to offer a little something should anyone be interested.
The two zip files contain 43 button icons each. One set is a glossy carbon look while the other has a carbon fiber infield with red boarded text. Both sets are .PNG files and if you have any software which will open them feel free to make some more and or change anything you wish. I made these from scratch based upon a tutorial I found on the internet and from hear on place them in the public domain so have at them.
Here are a couple screen of then on my phone. I havent fine tuned the background but you can get the idea of how they look. Using Virtual Desktop you can scale them to any size you wish as well as link them to whatever application your prefer.
Seems im too new here to attach photobucket images.
thanks very nice work.. will look good on my DINC...
Very nice work, you earn my respect, I can just dream of something like this made by me...
Hope those who have DLed these icon buttons have liked them. Im a bit of a noob at the PS aspect of things and noticed that if I were to export the icons they will retain the same qualities yet are substantially reduced in file size. Example being one of them went from 55KB to 9KB and the zip files were 1/10th of what i offered originally. So, if you feel like it grab another set and lessen the load on your CPU.
Im working on a set of small normal size icons that match and offer system setting functions so check back in a day or so.
Added a set of matching smaller icons to the original post list. They are a little larger than normal sized icons and fit 5 across on a Droidx. Remember you can adjust the number of columns and rows in LP to best suit your layout needs.
I guess a word on what to do with all of these...
Use LP Plus allows you to resize all that you add. Download "Desktop Visualizer" from the market and install. You will find DV when you long press for widgets on the home screen.
Ive been using the 3x1 for the larger buttons but found the 2x1 works as well. For the smaller icons use the 1x1 (not the first listed 1x1ss). Once you have them extracted to a folder all you need to copy the folder to your SD card. Ive been putting them in the DCIM/Camera folder. Then when you have chosen the icon size to use you simply browse to the image and then select a function.
Some of the smaller icons need to be associated with an event rather than an application. Instead of tapping Application, choose Other and then "Activities". A new list of options become available to map the icon to whatever you want. Just take a little time and read the smaller print listed under the activity. Some of the display and sound related items are found in the Settings folder.
Ive also found that DLing an app called "Blocco" (free @ Market) and a few of their plug-ins are useful as well. There are plug-ins for Airplane mode and wifi toggle etc. If what you selected doesnt work just drag it to the trash and take another stab. I figured it out so you should be able to as well.
Added the psd file for both types of the carbon button icons. Feel free to make your own by using photo shop or similar software. Just edit the text, reposition it if needed and export the new image. Exporting the image will reduce the file size a lot and help with phone performance.
Included buttons say Market

First of all....VERY nice work. Nice and clean. Second..I downloaded the .psd zip and when I opened it, I didn't find the .psd....only the market.png files (one red and one black). I assume this was an accident, but I wanted to make an icon for TapaTalk. So far your one of the very few that have done TechBuzz and I thank you for that. If you would be so kind to either verify the .psd file and re upload it or make a TapaTalk icon, I would be very greatful. Thank You.

These are beautifull! Some green one would be cool too.

These look sick! Do you mind if I use some of these in my theme? I might alter them a little to match. Good job!
no problem, do as you will. I put them here for anyone who can use them.

So it was quite easy to chance the LauncherPro widgets, just drop a few files into a folder and re-sign. Can this be done with other apps?
Generally everything's looking good, but the BeyondPod widget is so old looking, can I make the background look like that of the YouTube or Google Search widgets?
If I could make the Fancy Widget Weather background lighter, that would be cool too...
(I've used a lighter wallpaper than usual, so you can see what I mean )
Thanks.
**EDIT** Okay, so I simply dropped in the appwidget_bg.9.png and it's kinda worked -
How can I now control the size of the background of the widget?
The best way to theme the widgets (if there is no source for app, like for many/most market apps) is to use apktool to decompile the .apk, this will give you the .9.png files with the guide lines on them, then you can open the .png from the .apk you just decompiled (the best way to keep the widget the same boundaries as the original is just to recreate the image on a layer above the existing layer, with the guide lines and widget background, to be the same width and length as the stock widget background). You can either use apktool to recompile the .apk which will or create the .9.pngs for you, or you can compile them in eclipse.
Use this png instead of the other one on my thread. I need to update it. This will size nicely on your Music widget and also Fancy Widget.
How would I go about making the launcher pro widgets transparent?

Not quite what I was after, lol
Going to edit that one myself, see how I get on
**EDIT** Okay, so I've made the background a little smaller (and without the white background) but the buttons still stick to the very edges.

Click on the attached image first and then save it. Right clicking and saving results in a loss of transparency, hence a broken .9 patch.

Thanks. I followed the guide and I have the header and footers transparent (I edited your pngs so that it was 0% opaque so perfectly transparent since that's what I want) but the background for the calendar widget still has a grey shade... dunno which png to change to get it perfectly clear. Any suggestions?

How would one go about editing a Beautiful Widget theme?
In the picture below you can see that the "pm" and weather are white and I want to make them both cyan to match everything else. (Also, I realized upon seeing the shot blown up that the color of the weather/date text didn't match so I fixed that).

Get the clock skin and the weather skin from your sdcard from data/beautifulwidgets. Edit them in Photoshop or GIMP and put them back.

Thanks Sonny! I am going to try (emphasis on try) to make a complete skin for BW to go with your SubCyan theme with just a simple clock and weather both cyan but if I fail (which seems to be what I'm doing) I'll probably do just that.
Okay, I have successfully made Rosie do 5x5 and 4x5.
5x5 is what I wanted, but then every single widget would have to be edited to look right. - No.
4x5 lets the 4 column widgets work, and adds an extra row of icons to every screen. Only problem is, since each square of screen space is reduced to add the extra row, the last few lines of a widget are lost.
See attached 4x5 shot.
I know if I can remove some padding around the workspace screen, each cell would grow a little. I just can't find where to do it, and my fingers are getting numb from building and pushing the apk.
Does anybody know what padding settings I need to reduce to allow icon/widget cells to grow?
D
I done the same thing with the incredible when I had it.
There is a way to accomplish this but you are still going to have to edit the individual widgets to fit in the smaller space.
It's been a while but it's a pretty simple edit.
The main widgets that need to be changed are the clock, the calendar, and the people widget.
Sent from my B.A.M.F. Thunderbolt
Yeah, I've been down that road. I'm trying to avoid it though.
If I can recover enough space by removing the padding I shouldn't have to.
Just something I'll have to play with till I get it right I guess.
Thanks though!

This made me realize my mind has trouble interpreting grids phrased as [column]x[row]. I'm hard wired for row first, lol.
Does this look OK in landscape with 5 rows. This is where the problems usually begin for me wanting to use 5 rows.
If it's possible to cut that padding down to a bare minimum, it should fix the widget issue, at least a little bit.
I had a bit of a search on the web and xda developers, but can't seem to find what im looking.Tryung to find out what the stock icon sizes are for the htc one on Jellybean 4.2.2?I would like to add ios 5.1.1/6 icons (120x120) over the top of my exsisting apps, but i dont want to run launchers or different roms, very happy with 4.2.2and Sense 5.Please be gentle, this is my first Android phone, and still trying to get my head around things

72x72 & 144x144 .. In apks they seem to be 72x72 but they won't change unless you decompile and sign them from my personal experience. In some of the framework files, the icons for system apps such as calendar, camera, phone etc, they're 144x144.
This isn't concrete as far as where each size dwells but they are the two sizes I've come across for apps.
So if i were able to put the 120x120 aplle icons over android apps, would it end up looking weird,as in weird shadows under the icons, etc?

What do you mean putting them over android apps? You'd obviously have to replace them and if I were you I'd resize them to be the same dimensions but it shouldn't matter that much as it's not like ****ty Apple with their stupid masks that leave a black shadow around Icons, especially noticeable when using non-square icons.
The one thing to note is that if you plan to change the icons for things like camera, phone, gallery etc, the icons are 72x72 in the app but 144x144 in htc.resources.apk. If you don't make the icons the same sizes then you will end up with tiny icons on your homescreen but normal ones on the lockscreen. For example, if you change the phone icon then you have to put a 144x144 icon in htc.resources.apk otherwise it won't be the correct size.
