Does anyone know of a car charger that fits in perfectly in the cig lighter in the car. All Incar chargers I have ever bought never fit in perfectly and with the slightest amount of touch lose power until I push it in again.
I want a nice snug fit just the the cig lighter has with its own lighter thing. I absiolutely hate the give/movement these incar chargers have.
Any ideas?
Hey there, i bought an adapter and just use my usb cable that came with the phone..
Its a tight fit with just a little movement. Never looses the connection, have had no problems

Belkin Micro USB charger
I use it with this http://www.fommy.co.uk/view-full-page.asp?divid=HTC&model=HTC+HD2&skuno=82268. The Belkin Micro charger can be bought from much anywhere and it works very well.
car charger
I use Igo chargers, never had problem, just buy new tip when you change phone. Don't have to carry charger for every phone. They have multi charger kit, comes with home, car, &tip, & retractable cord. Love it, they fit snug, with led lite. Quig
i got one of these for 3 bucks on sale. and for the price it friggin rules!!!

I use a dual USB car charger from Griffin Technology known as the powerjolt.
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powerjolt-dual-universal
No other car charger fits my cigarette lighter slot as well. I think this is quite tight but can still pop out. My high tech solution is to stick a bit of card in there with the cahrger. It works perfectly and doesn't need to be wedged in very far to create a rock solid connection.

Works well, snug fit too.
The leo ´s plastic parts are covered by some kinda smooth coating. I wonder if it takes damage if you use car holders (especially the brodit one - I think I might buy this one). What do you guys say? Has anyone experiences with this?
is 500mA enough to charge the phone + use navigation or play music?

I bought this one at walmart on our way out of town one day to run my HD2 and my daughters iPhone 3G...My HD2 always overheats when I use it (the LED flashes orange and green after about 15-20 minutes) Even if I dont have anything else plugged into it.
Mine may be an isolated issue (though I dont see how)...but I dont know if I would recommend this...as overheating the battery often cannot be good in the long run.

Does this sit flush on the top of the lighter jack?...that would be the perfect solution so I could unplug the cable but leave the adapter in and still be able to close the ashtray (change drawer) lid.
...Have you had any power or overheating issues?...(see my post above)
It looks like the price in your link has gone up to 12.99...but a quick google search gave me a price of 5.99+free shipping

Well, it took almost a month to get here but it arrived!
I bought 2 desktop cradles and a spare battery.
http://www.netimes.com/shop/desktop-cradle-w-2nd-battery-charger-for-htc-hd2-t8585-htc-leo-p-2457.html?cPath=80_731
It came all the way from HK.
I thought the phone would charge only using the power plug but you have to use the usb cable. The power plug is used only for charging the spare battery.
Here are some pictures of it standing on my office at work:

Looks very good quality. But it seems like its totally standing on MicroUSB no other support... i hope it will not damage MicroUSB port....
wat you think???
HD2 is so pretty!!!!
It stays very well. The place where it stands its very tight and the usb port is not the support of the device. It stays there good even without inserting it to the maximum. I'm quite happy with it.
Hey there...
Looks like the same cradle as the one I ordered. Still waiting for mine to arrive though. What is the build quality like?
David
The build quality is pretty good. Can't complain.
Its light, made of hard plastic and the sides have a silvery plastic cover.
Besides the silver sides (which give it a cool look) the rest is just hard plastic. On the bottom there are 6 rubbery stand points which give it a good grip on the desk.
Thanks... Wish my cradle had arrived - left my USB cable at work, so can't charge my phone!

Dont be so simple minded lol. Go buy yourself another cable for work and one for home ?
Well, that's why I bought the cradle!
How many hours it takes to fully charge the original battery?
I have the exact same one (I think), took me about two weeks to get it from Hong Kong to Norway..
The grip is firm, almost too firm for my likings.. Have to use both hands when lifting the phone off the cradle..
Question to lorin.bute: Have you experienced any problems when syncing with activesync using the cradle?? My computer recognizes the connection when I put the phone in the cradle, but I get a "time out error" when attempting to sync.. Works fine when using cable only.. Only tried on one computer though, and without the AC-adapter connected...
Speaking of which, are you sure the AC is just for charging the second battery?? I've allways thought that charging through USB doesn't give as much current (500 mAh or so?) as AC does...
One last thing: Do you have that INSANELY bright blue LED on the back/right hand side of the cradle?? It freaks me out!

Yes, the grip is quite strong.
I have no problems with the sync. I sync at home and it definitely works. At work, active sync runs but no items are synced. Everything works fine.
If i don't connect the cradle to the pc, the led doesn't turn on ... and there's no charge symbol on top and s2u2 does not show the battery. that for me meant that it doesn't charge with the power plug. Remember that i have the one with a spare battery charger.
Yes i do have the blue light... that goes all the way to the roof of the room
It doesn't bother me that much.

I've also ordered the same style cradle with the OP. The total payment is just 30$. And as u said here, it seems to be worthy with that amount

Extended one (with additional Battery slot) £15
They don't look bad but best to get one that has the micro-usb AND a headphone plug - that way you can attach it to your Hi-Fi, pc etc to pump the sound from!
If not then these ones from Brando look nice:
$18 + $3 P&P
$17 + $3 P&P (various colours available!)
I have always found Brando excellent and have used him for years now - I have just got the reflection free screen protector for my HD7 and it makes it easier to see outside and much smoother to the touch!
yeah good point, i don't think i've spotted one with a headphone socket yet... I wonder if we'll see docking stations with built in speakers anytime soon....
Fingers crossed - always annoys me the iPoo gets docks galore but HTC phones don't even though they have great audio capabilities!
I've bought this one: http://kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1230

Yeah I really like the look of that charger, does someone have a trusted site for the States? I wanna buy one, but I just don't know about some of these sites.
And the sites that do look decent, are always in the UK! What gives?!
Can someone hit me back with a link for State side website that you've personally bought from before, and that the company does exist somewhere.
Thanks yall!
Do any of these docks/cradles work with a case on?
I have the PixelSkin case for my HD7. Will my phone with the case on fit in any of these docks/cradles?
Good Day,
I presently own both the hd2 and hd7, and am not able to dock either phone while in their cases...Due to the chargers fitting so well as to promote
stability while charging. (Of course it may depend on which cradle you own/purchase.) I have 2 different style cradles, and both give the same results.
I hope this helps.
Good Day,
I have purchased 2 different style cradles...1 from mygadgetgarage (hd2/hd7) (ebay) and the other from talkietech (hd2) (also ebay). Both sites treated me excellent. Fast shipping/Great prices.
i just bought a slip in real leather case by HTC. Good thing is you can just pull up your phone without using fingers to squeeze through the side when you need to pull out the phone.
KiDiGi dock
I got tired of samsung taking forever to release a desktop dock, so I went and bought the kidigi and have been using it for a week now. I have to say the dock is amazing . It fits the phone perfectly and holds it in tight . My test for a good dock is if i can place the phone to charge when im drunk, and i have to say its a good dock. . I had a seidio and it was a pain getting the micro usb to line up.
maybe a few picture of the dock?

This fits really tight and no room for case. Would be a really good car mount, the phone doesn't move at all, but don't know about permanently mounting something to a car.

using this as a car mount is actually a good idea, just use some strong velcrow. but the downside is that you wouldnt be able to the 3.5mm headphone jack due to the design. what a pitty for people like me who use aux for audio
Does this dock cause the Nexus S to go into dock mode?
I have dock from Odds and Pods.
It looks exactly the same as one described in this thread but no KiDiGi label on it.
Few things which might be helpful for some.
Mine phone did not went into dock mode until I modified dock:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12160799&postcount=40
Dock working fine with Best Skin Ever attached - so there is some room for protection also.
I would not recommend this dock to use it in the car. Not in the place where I live.
If you have only smooth roads, no bumps at all - then yes - maybe. But your phone is not hold in docking station by anything but small USB plug.
Imagine what will happen with this on some bumps.
Consider buying this one for car instead:

http://www.4u-mobi.com/onlineshop/online_shop_detail.php?pid=5694
Also I have a question to thread author.
Does your dock working OK in USB transfer mode?
Mine just showed up and I was pleasantly suprised of the build quality. Fits perfect.
I got the one with the spare battery compartment.
Best part about it is that it charges the phone, syncs usb, and charges the spare all at the same time rather than one at a time like some of my older versions i've bought.
If it only had an audio out jack in the back it would be the ultimate.
Ordered it here but can be found cheaper with some research: http://www.4u-mobi.com/onlineshop/online_shop_detail.php?pid=5692 showed up in 10 days

So the usb sync works, transfer files, on the one you got? Just want to make sure since the other person said it only charged his phone (unless I read it wrong).
Works perfectly fine.... They ship it with 2 different cables, 1 is obviously for data transfer and the other is for charging... you can tell because one is thick vs the other very skinny... so I hope whoever said it didn't work didn't get their wires crossed up!

Could you please tell us where you could find it cheaper ? Because, personally, I find that is has a very nice design compared to other alternatives, so I would really like to buy it. Preferably cheaper than 27$. So, again, please tell us where to find it cheaper. Thanks !
Also, on their site, it says that under DC and USB charging, the output is 500mAh. My Nexus S DC charger says 700 mAh. How is that going to affect the charging time ? Almost +1/3 of what it is right now ?
I also understood from other sources, that USB can only give a max output of 500 mAh, is that true ? So the only down-side for this dock is the 500 mAh DC output... it would've been better if it had 1A.

Bump. Does the phone enter dock mode?
Does this fit with the I9023 also?
So, where do you find it cheaper ?
Anyway, I found it on shop.brando.com (I think it's a replica of the KiDiGi model). Unfortunately, I can't post links here, so if you want to find it, do a search for "Google Nexus S USB Cradle" on their site. It's 18$ only for charging the phone and 25$ with a slot for charging the battery. That's compared to 27$ and 31$ respectively for those 2 from KiDiGi.
Also, apart from the KiDiGi models and these replicas, I've also found the chinese ones on eBay. Those are around 10$ each, but I don't quite recommend those. They also come with a 500 mA DC charger each, so there's nothing good here, opposed to the 1A charger that comes with the KiDiGi and those replicas on brando shop.
Hope this helps somebody.

These really aren't that great, I was forced to use the USB port since the stock rom is buggy/bloated because I use the PA Rom. My DT-900 charged hopelessly slow and being able to toss it on for 10 minutes and get 3 hours of charge is something I have to do sometimes now that my battery has worn down.

I would love to see pictures of the charging dock as well.
Just a quick note for everyone viewing this thread, there is a lot of info on this type of Qi Charging coil in another thread: External Qi Charging Coil.
Some of your questions might be answered in that thread, such as charging rates, and how it works. I've been using it for some time and enjoy it. About the only problem I have with it is that I want to add a chunk of steel and a magnet so that the phone will "auto align" to the charging pad. That and to hold the phone to the charging pad, as a slight bump with the case I'm using will cause it to slide right off.
Also one last note, if you are using a horizontal holster, it can snag on the usb plug. So make sure the case you are using protects the plug, or you are very careful. The Poetic case I have doesn't protect the bottom and top, and thus the cable can get caught by the holster. Vertical holsters work quite well with the Poetic case, you just have to find one that fits....

I moved my Samsung (microUSB) over into my travel bag. I'm actually VERY surprised how well the Nokia Qi is at "pairing" with my Verizon. I seriously just drop it on there and it starts charging where my Samsung had to be "generally" in the same area to get it to go. The Samsung still had play room unlike some of the cheaper $10 ebay models where it required exact precision to "pair" and start charging.
I don't know if the deal is still on but would be worth a look.
UPDATE:
Yup Still $5

"Hacked" built in qi charging:laugh:
The insert is think enough to fit underneath the battery cover.
Aloha comunity,
i bought a magnetic charger cable from ebay but it does not snap correctly in place and it's a pain in the *** to connect it correctly.
since i use a case I cannot use the docking station.
Is there any cable you can recommend?
Thanks and greetings
I bought four different cheap ones from ebay. Four different styles... 3 cables and 1 usb micro adapter.
They are all complete garbage. One of them is usable as long as I don't touch or bump the phone at all while it's connected.
I've heard good things about the magnector cable but they are way more expensive. I'll stick with micro usb and the flap for the time being.
magnector is 15€ which is okay. it's a pitty that sony doesn't send one with the phone :/
charging via the usb-connector isn't an long-term option for me since i need to diasemble the case every time and heard that the flap may break or become leaky.
any other suggestions? otherwise i will buy a magnector tomorrow.
thanks and greetings
Magnector x2 is where it's at. It fits my new Devilcase with minimal plastic cutting.
Agree... Magnector x2 is worth the price. I have one since day one with my Z3c.
You can't be disappointed with it...

Magnector x2 is a premium quality magnet charger but expensive.... 15€ .... and COMPATIBLE only with 3-4 covers
I SUGGEST:
2 of this 15€ ......and work well in EVERY COVER

Magnector X2 + cruizerlite case = win
@adivorandroid
You should be able to get those on ebay for less than $5 a pop.

NOT FOR THE SAME QUALITY.... i have 12 cases from ebay/amazon/other store.... not same quality!
Magnector for the win (X2 adapter or cable)
I have tried various adapters and cables and BY FAR the best ones are these:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q3GK3YI
The X2 adapter is fantastic if you want to carry it with you or plug it into existing microUSB cables, but their cable (in the same listing) is just as great, and a nice, flexible cable. I'm using the Magnector X cable in the car since that's easier to snap on and keep my phone in place. Unlike most magnetic connectors, these have a lil curve that fits perfectly with the side of the phone, preventing it from sliding off as easily, and the magnets are the strongest I've encountered so far.

Hmmm, maybe. All I can say is that one of the four ebay cables I bought terminates in a connector that looks identical to the one in your image. I mean completely identical. It's also the best out of the four I bought and the only one that I actually find usable. The connection is still pretty loose though.
I'll try to find the link to the auction... [edit] here it is

100% neodymium magnet....the same to the others more blasonate connectors, at the end same force.
The problem is the more thickness of the connector.... but you can use on 100% of cases on web....same strong force but a little bit instable....I use my mag connection at home near my bed, I don't need brutal force for stay in charge...without remove my covers :good:
