Hi clever people!
Ok so it's taken me a few days to really figure this thing out and decide to root my T-Mobile UK G2 Touch (Hero or whatever) and after doing it, I installed villain4beta2 which at first I liked. however I've had it a day now at work (it get used alot at work) and its just not right.... things seem nicer and perhaps a touch faster but with silly errors. for example even when I'd disabled open home and put sense back on it kept coming up with force kill open home *sigh*
anyways i think I'm going back to a rooted stock rom because i dnt really want much from my phone i only rooted it to create "full" themes for it, apart from maybe apps2sd perhaps. This brings me on to the point...
So, I want to theme it, I know this can be done via open home ahome and other desktop replacement apps but they all seem to slow my phone done compared to sense - plus i like sense, and even when i use them I cannot a)edit the notification bar
b)change the bootscreen
so I want to know if the following few things are possible and point me in the right direction...
-create MY OWN bootscreen (not one off another phone)
-change location/fonts/colours on notification bar
-change the colours/font of the sense buttons (phone add apps)
this lot is probably way more complicated than i imagine, however I have made F0 (firmware - flashed) themes for the PSP, so i think i can handle this, its just i know very little about android atm. So please take pitty on me and point me in the correct direct of what ever is possible...
mattyyey
c'mon guys! can you at least tell me how to make a bootscreen - what files are involved etc?
(FYI i have a rooted stock ROM now - 2.73.110.26)
have a look at /system/media, in 1.5 roms you will find a folder called "bootscreen", in 2.1 roms there is either a folder or a zipfile. have a look at these, then ask your specific questions here after you did a search.
I would also like to know how to make/create/customize themes.
bootscreens are easy enough, what tools and files are involved in the theme and where can we locate them?
Do we need to get the sign tools etc from the dev of the ROM were creating it for?
Thanks in advance
edit the pngs inside the apks. do not unpack them, just update the files inside them. do not resign them with anything. and there is no rom developer key, there are the testkeys from htc.
Cheers kendong, your a gent.
I thought there would of been more to it than that, best fire up photoshop and alike

Wow I so forgot about this thread! Thanks kendong2 I have a lot of it figured out now editing apks and making bootscreens... and getting the final customization via sweeter home. LCARSoid is basically finished apart from a few widgets.
I have yet to figure out how rearranging the notifications bar is done or fonts. I know fonts can be done tho.
Anyways thanks, I managed to piece it together in the end. :-D

Hello friends! Thanks for checking out my theme so far.
This is a Themed version of S-Blur 1.071
Few things first:
Thank you Search Button!
Thank you shafty023 for running the farthest with Blur so far, and providing the best Blur ROM in the game.
Also thank you to whomever is involved in the development of this Blur ROM(I dont know all of you, or all of you involved)
All credit for this theme goes to ALL the legit developers here at XDA. Without them none of us n00bs would have such cool things to play with on our G1/MT3g!
Ok, on to the next...
A couple disclaimers:
If you are here, I assume you know how to flash your phone, if not check my first thank you.
This is a FULL ROM!
I do not know how to make a update.zip that includes /data/app_s.
I tried and failed. Any pointers please send them my way.
So in order for this theme to work you must wipe/fix/...
I edited no apks/widgets in this theme, just framework and blurhome.
If you have been here before you will notice things are different, halfway thru my original concept i decided to change things. I'm not sure why I did, but this is more fun anyways.
So without further ado here are some screenshots. I love constructive criticism, so post any thoughts you may have.
As far as the "phone" & "happenings" buttons are concerned, I edited them 5000 different ways, I know they are .9. but I have edited those before without this much frustration. I think(purely speculation) that "blur" purposely "blurs" the buttons...im going to keep messing with them though to fix their somewhat "off" look...

Music and Search widget need some work yet, and the msg widget and happenings widgets need some tweaking also..
I truly love this ROM, or Blur for that matter, and I should probably just go get a Cliq, but I also love my G1 too much. I believe that once all the bugs are worked out of this ROM, it will replace hero, unless of course the 2.0 update hits hero...who knows, just my opinion anyways.
*So please enjoy this Theme, and stay tuned as I will be updating it as I go along. I'm going to be changing the icons and i'm starting to work on the widgets tonight.
I will be hosting this file on my Dropbox, I have downloaded many things from Dropbox on my phone, so it should work just fine from your phone. As far as speed is concerned, it should be just fine. They provide a great service. If someone would like to host it some where else feel free.

Can you send me just the update-script from this?
I can probably get it to flash app_s properly
here is the original that came with this rom...and now looking at it, i think i know where i screwed up my own update.zip tests...i was using the script from stericsons empty zip...hmmm...i was using "data/app_s"...but i see in this one its "sd/app_s"...ima try this...
but let me know what you can do and thnx in advance...
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1550010/update-script
ya sd/app_s should work
you can also make another folder app_s
and do
copy_dir PACKAGE:app_s SYSTEM:app_s
since its symlinked it should work
(right now im really sleepy....something may be wrong in there
WOW
this theme looks sick cant wait to see it finished

thnx for the response on this, but im not sure wth i am doing wrong...
here is my zip layout:
META-INF
framework/framework-res.apk
app/AlarmClock.apk BlurHome.apk
update script:
copy_dir PACKAGE:framework SYSTEM:framework
copy_dir PACKAGE:app SYSTEM:app
I have signed properly. but it always fails with "error at line 1"
i have renamed the app folder numerous times, and repackaged the app apks so many different ways..
ex: data/app, sd/app_s, app_s/app_s...etc
when i make those changes i change the script accordingly..but it always fails, framework changes work flawlessly..idk...
when i look at the original script, it appears to me that the app_s apks get moved into the system/app folder...but I am still learning these processes..am I reading it wrong?
@g1junky - thanks for the kind words...i have more updates coming..
ex: clock/happenings widget/msg widget/notification bar/icons/music/search...
i just want to get the update.zip working proper b4 i update..so stay tuned...
and thnx in advance to anyone who can help me with this issue..

Hi all,
I saw the winmo 7 video other day in youtube. It looks great but it was like a dejavu for me. I have sony erricsson Xperia X1, in that we have a panel called Media experience, it is more or less the same as new winmo interface. (for those who haven't seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEQt8tGUuYg )
The only differences are that instead of txt showing you where you are (each time you get in a folder the name of the txt goes on top, that way you know where you are) in Media experience it shows you an icon

notice the icon on the right ( music icon) indicates that you are in music player. Oh yeah and unlike winmo7 it is in the left side. The thing that this is missing is the clock on the background (i photoshoped it) and the weather widget.
HTC UI is great but it also slows down the phone, that's why I prefer titanium. I was wondering if somebody could figure out a way to put a clock and weather widget with it. Some other pics,
That theme concept looks gorgeous. It's a brilliantly huge improvement over the default Titanium. However, it reminds me of the SE media manager. But nevermind that.
The clock on the top right corner looks ugly - it's doesn't blend well within the theme. I suggest that a plain text clock in the background should be implemented to give the theme a minimalistic and elegant look. I've worked up on the image to show you what I mean.
The menus should also have some transparency so the background and the clock are visible.
i think it's better the clock on the background but the icon only the bigger at the center end take away the little one at the left!
d3thstalker your picture looks exactly what I was thinking. I did a quick paintbrush work so it looks awefool. But yeah this is what I was talking about, how though
It would be really awesome if someone could develop this for us. I have no background in developing anything or whatsoever. However, I'd like to extend my help to wherever I can.
EDIT: Perhaps if someone could post links to guides or tutorials on editing the Titanium menu, I can try something.

It doesn't look that difficult, it's worth a try. But you are reminded again that I have no background in these things or whatsoever, so don't get your hopes too high, I might simply dump the project if I can't do it.
I'm handling some workload from my office atm, I'll begin immediately after that. I'll flash my phone to WM6.5.3 today, however, to take a look at how this whole thing works. On second thought, it would be better if someone could pass me the following files from the WINDOWS directory on their phone - bronzeres.dll, CHome_listback.png (hidden file) and Titanium_240x320.cpr

Ok I just sent it to you. I looked at the tutorial too, when I opened the bronzess.dll in PE explorer I see lots of icons, starting with the number of 2000 to 4000. I can guess how to change the icons, but I dont understand how can I change the system of how icons are being shown. I mean in "Media Experience Panel" when you tap on something it goes to the left side. How do make that happen? Anyway I dont know anything about programming.
Hope somebody comes up with a solution.
I understand the link between the registery, the bronzeres.dll and the way the icon are displayed. However, I still don't understand how to shift the icons to the left side. I think that has something to do with Titanium_240x320.cpr.
I don't think that it's possible to make the icons shift to the left upon clicking them because I have never seen that in a theme. I think that would require the Titanium code to be re-written or something, which is beyond me.
EDIT: This modding of titanium is too hard for me, I don't understand several aspects of it. I am letting go of it here.
Ok I think I figured it out. Its not Titanium that can do this stuff. It is actually this
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/cws/devworld/technology/windows-mobile/xperia-x1?cc=gb&lc=en
which probably can do this. Hmmmm............ I guess I have to do this all by myself

+1 i'd like to see this. even a beta is alright.
I was wondering if someone could mod any of these? I'm failing miserably. >_>
I'm still trying though!
Basically, my homescreen looks like this:
http://i52.tinypic.com/33bjrdg.png
and those words are folder shortcuts via Desktop Visualizer,
and it opens a folder using Smart Shortcuts.
Problem is, that folder is a little unsightly compared to my theme.
I was wondering if someone could help me mod them so they are little sexier?
Something just black, with a 60% transparency, like Tajm and Battstat?
Thanks! If I get one anyways.
good idea... I just busted open the res folder of Folder Organizer and cant figure out what file controls the folder's background
its probably a xml file, which I have no idea how to alter

Try Apps Organizer. The screen/folder that pops up isn't too bad. Better than the standard one at least. It is transparent.

I really like this launcher and wonder why more folks don't.
I'm still learning how to use it and yes it's harder to theme then other launchers.
But the end results are great.
I only wish it had one thing...scrolling widget support.
It needs the ability by different theme designers to 1) choose screen layout: conventional instead of 2D 2) ability to lock out additional screens 3) better resolution independent support. Right now the layouts pretty much ONLY works for one res and looks like **** in any other res.
I've started to work on a Win7 Starter theme

Is it possible to use an Action tray to change the skin when clicked?
I'm still working out all the possibilities.
The biggest advantage I like about SH is that all widgets can be hidden using springboards.
This is my first theme. Search for "Tabby" or "Vertig" from SH Theme section
It's pretty simple, a bottom dock that is on the left, center, and right screens. The buttons change color when pressed.
Below are the three docks
If you have any suggestions/comments, or want a modified dock, let me know.

You don't need the SPB launcher to get that theme. The 3D stuff in the middle is just that certain launcher. What you want is the notification bar theme right? I don't have it myself, as I don't use those themes, but I would suggest using the UOT kitchen and you can cook it yourself. It's pretty easy to figure out and get your own themes up and running.
http://uot.dakra.lt/
I took some time and threw together what I THINK you're looking for... it was actually quite a bit more work than I thought it would be, but I just tested this out on my Nexus S (i9020a) on the latest CM7.1 Nightly (b. 180) and it worked fine.
I'd recommend backing up your Androidian.apk just in case something goes wrong, or even a full nand backup. You'll need to push this apk to /system/app and make sure permissions are set properly.
Here's what I did to set it:
1 - Use Root Explorer (or another file manager with root access) and go to /system/app
2 - Make sure the directory is mounted as RW
3 - Rename Androidian.apk to Androidian.apk.bak
4 - Browse to where you saved the modified APK on your SDCard and Copy/Move the modified apk to /system/app
5 - Set permissions (rw-r--r--)
6 - Reboot phone.
7 - Once phone is back up, go to Theme Manager and select Androidian.apk and apply.
8 - Hope it works for you like it did for me
I really like this a LOT. I've been thinking about requesting for it too. Can I add to the request please?
@tehgeekguy - Can you modify it further to remove the horizontal dividers in lists? Especially in sms and the menu lists. Pretty much like Minimalbread and Lucid. Please?

@tehgeekguy - Can you modify it further to remove the horizontal dividers in lists? Especially in sms and the menu lists. Pretty much like Minimalbread and Lucid. Please?

You mind taking a screenshot of what you mean? To be honest, I don't use themes at all, but I could tweak it how you'd like if you can show me what it is you're wanting changed.
Hello, Im hoping to remove all those white lines. Especially in messaging. That horizontal divider in message list or menu items. Please see attached image.

I THINK I got what you're wanting. I attached two screenshots with what I've managed so far. This will basically remove those bars from anywhere they'd normally show up (Settings menus, Messaging app, pop up menus, etc...). The screenshots show the Settings menu and the Power menu (I clear my messages daily so nothing in Messages to show but a black window).
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten it to work in a theme yet, but I can get it working with a morph, or you can yank the files and merge them manually if you know how, it's not too difficult. I'll keep poking around the theme files and see if I can get this put into the one I uploaded earlier. The morph is NoDividers.zip (attached).
WOW! This $hi+$ AMAZING! I can't THANK YOU enough! Best thing about this morph is that I can use ANY theme without those pesky dividers! Really NEAT man!
I really recommend this to anyone who love David's MinimalBread and Sonny Sekhon's Lucid.
