Ok I forgot to unmount my SD card before I switched Sd cards to transfer some date. Bone head move!!!! Anyway now when the phone starts up I get can see my wall paper in the sleep screen. I can see the status bar and see that several apps are started, but open home will not start. I get a force close screen over and over. The Hot button to get to the settings will not work and so I can unmount and remount or turn off open home. Satus bar is there as I said, I can pull it down between force close screens, but the rest of the screen is black. Any Idea besides wiping and reinstalling everything?
got it, I could get into process manager via the status bar. I uninstalled open home, unmounted/remounted and reinstalled.
How did you swap SD cards without unmounting? you can't mount the card while the phone is off, and you can't swap cards while the phone is on.
I just reinstall the apps that are foreclosing.
Well I thought you had to go into settings and do something before you took the SD Card out. Guess not. Anyway I turned off the phone, took the SD card and put in another that was in the my G1. I guess this created the problem as their were files on the G1 card. Most apps that were installed on the SD had problems. To completely fix the problem I had to format and re-partition my SD Card. I went ahead and wiped and reinstalled Cynogen as well. Everything is fine now just have to get back the 90 or so apps I had on the phone.

[Q] SD Flashed itself?
OK so, not quite sure what happened with my SD card today but it pretty much flashed itself and gone done broken the format for my apps2sd.
I was heavily using my phone today for gps and what not by driving around from garage sale to garbage sale with my ole lady. anyways, i noticed that my ringtones werent the same at about half way through, but i didnt think anything of it and kept on going. i got home later, still was doing it, so i went to terminal:
su
reboot
rebooted. when it came up it said my card was damaged and cant be used......is there anyway way to restore it or recover information off it?
edit: yes i still have root. no the card isnt readable in windows but my mac ID's it but cant do anythign with it.
Well i really don't know how or when this happened but my phone now says "Damaged SD card" under my notifications and i can't access my card anymore. I have tried pulling it out and putting it back in, resetting my phone, and mounting to my computer but it never reads. I know formatting the card would restore it but i don't want to lose my pictures, music, and files that i had stored on it. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows how to solve it... Thanks!!
I am using Cyanogen 5.0.6 on my N1. I flashed it about 5 days ago.
Backstory: So I was connected to my car stereo via bluetooth on my way to work this morning when the songs stops playing. I then pressed the skip button on my receiver but nothing happened. I then looked at my phone and realized that it was off. I tried pressing the power button to turn it back on but that did not work. Then I removed the battery and then replaced it and pressed the power button. It turned on. The main problem became evident when I got to the home screen and it said "Blank SD card - SD card blank of has unsupported filesystem."
Is there a way to recover the data that was on this sd card? It is asking me to format the card, but I would rather recover the files if possible before formating. Also, is this a glitch with Cyanogen, the 5.0.6 ROM, Android 2.1 or something else?
If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
No idea what could have caused it but as for recovering files just try one of the many programs out there.
Ive persoanlly had success wity a program called recova for windows
Thanks Phantom.
I had a spare memory card at home. It was full of videos so I had to format the card. Once it was formatted, I stuck it in the phone and rebooted. Everything was fine for about a half hour. I then loaded up some of my files that I wanted on the card, mainly just photos and documents. Then I thought I would go back to Cyanogen 5.0.5.3 so I loaded up the zip file on the root of the card and turned the phone off. When I went into bootloader it wouldn't recognize the card. So I was forced to restart the phone. Once it got to the home screen, a notification popped up saying that the SD card is damaged. [naturally there were expletives]. So now I have two SD cards that I cannot use on my phone. When I put the cards into a USB adapter, the computer only sees a few MB of the SD card and does not allow me to format.
I have now just about reached the limit of my computer knowledge.
The two main questions are:
1. What caused this?
2. How can I fix it?
Please keep in mind that I am a noob when it comes to most of this stuff so I would appreciate the help to be kept in layman's terms as much as possible.
Thank you!
I seem to have done some real damage to my phone and I could definitely use the help of fellow XDA'ers. I took my memory card out to put some files on my PC. Phone was off so no problems. I reinsert the SD card and reboot. Now although I'm absolutely sure the card was fully inserted, once the phone fully booted I had the "SD Card removed" icon in the corner and everything started to force close. So I quickly shut the phone off, made sure the card was fully in, and rebooted again. it loaded up again, and while the no SD Card removed error was gone, I was still getting FC's left and right and apparently have no gps, no wifi, and no 3g. So I once again rebooted into recovery, ran the fix permissions and rebooted. Again, booted up and FC's everywhere. So now about 90% of my apps FC on launch (either actual launch of the phone or by pressing the icon), I can't activate WiFi or GPS, and I have no data/3g. What happened and how can I fix this? Thank you so much in advance for your help.
Edit: After a little more fiddling, I find that I can't change any settings. I can't set screen timeout, notification levels, so on and so forth. What happened?

Windoze no doubt. Windoze is HOSTILE to non-MS filesystems and WILL attempt to destroy them.
Other possibility is that you simply didn't click the card in all the way.
Anyways, what has happened is that your phone booted up and was missing a ton of applications that it was expecting. It therefore irreparably destroyed your package configuration.
You MIGHT be able to salvage it if you have a recent backup of the file /data/system/packages.xml.
Try restoring that file, syncing the filesystem, and rebooting via 3-finger-salute INTO RECOVERY ***IMMEDIATELY*** after syncing. Then do a fix permissions and reboot normally.
... and cross your fingers.

I did that, but it was a no go. Everything still FC'd, couldn't change any setings, and it says my phone doesn't have internet permission, so anything requiring data access doesn't work.

I'm guessing I didn't click it all the way in because I have done this 100's of times before and it never happened. Unfortunately, I don't have a recent back up of that file so it's sounding like i am screwed. Would i be able to just wipe the phone, the ext, the cache and start over from scratch?
It seems I may be out of the woods. It's going to be a tedious solution, but at least I won't have to wipe anything or unroot or so on. Basically I have to uninstall and then reinstall everything to end the FC's and restore settings and data. It was actually the Maps update that helped me figure this out. I got the notification that there was an update so i followed it and upgraded. The fact that it notified me and then allowed me to download the new version told me the net was working. I also had another app that needed to be updated that was also fc'ing. So i upgraded that app and viola, no more fc and the 3g was working. So i uninstalled other apps that were giving me trouble with settings and data like Quick Settings and Tweetcaster, reinstalled and now I'm good money. I've got 144 apps installed so it's gonna take a few hours, but it's worth it to have my phone back. Thanks again for the advice.
First off: Motorola Droid running CM 6.1
So I've searched around, and everything I've found seems to be missing an aspect of what's happening with me, so I figured I'd just go ahead and start a thread and ask.
Basically, my SD card has been working on and off. It started one day when I turned off my phone and then turned it on later. The SD card was in and I could access it via Root Explorer, where I could see everything, but none of the apps were working at all. Restarting phone did nothing. I turned it off, pulled out the battery and pulled the SD card out, blew it out a little, put it back in, turned it back on, and it seemed to work as normal. I wondered if my problem was gone, so I restarted again, and same problem, no apps. I finally got it back on with the apps on the SD card working, but now, I can't mount it on my computer via USB. When I plug it in, it says drivers were installed and device is ready to use, and it starts charging, but there is no notification on the phone to mount the SD card. On top of that, I can't seem to install anything or update anything through the market, and I'm not entirely sure all of my apps that are on my SD card are there, but I can't be positive, because all of the ones I most use are. I'm sure that if I restart my phone, the same thing will happen again, so at the moment, I'm fine that my apps are working, but there are times when I need to mount my SD card to transfer files and such. Like I mentioned, I did search, and the closest thing I found was USB Brick which seems to be solely focused on the HTC Desire, but still seems to miss some aspects of this, mainly, no one mentioning that they could access their SD card while the apps weren't working. This makes me think it may be some sort of problem with the system or perhaps something wrong with android_secure or Android on my SD card. (Maybe an app on there messing something up?)
Any help would be appreciated. If this is a dupe thread, I'm sorry. If you could point me where I need to go, I'll go there and this thread can be deleted or closed.
Something weird happened today with my nexus one. I tried to start up an app (Bejeweled Blitz) which froze my phone completely, so 5 minutes later I removed the battery from the phone and started it back up. Now, certain things were missing off the phone, like airplane mode.. the home & search buttons wouldn't work.. my wallpaper had changed on its own to a default one.. and my homescreen had none of the app shortcuts on it. But my apps were all in the drawer, as far as I could tell.
but anyways, I plugged the phone into my computer via USB and clicked Turn on USB storage, but it would turn on for a second or less and then go back to the Turn on USB storage screen.
So I tried restoring factory settings, reformatting the memory card, making sure debugging mode is off, and all that. I also had windows check the memory card for errors by plugging it into a microSD card reader (There were no errors). But nothing I do fixes this problem. Any ideas? Is my microSD card broken now? Is Bejeweled Blitz evil?
Before all this happened, I was running CM 7.2 passion, and I had used mounts2sd to change the internal storage to about 990mb. Everything was fine for weeks, but this randomly happened.
Thanks to any who try to help.
EDIT: I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, but I put a different microSD card in the phone and tried using USB mass storage. The same problem occurs, so the problem must be with the phone itself and not the microSD card. I have no idea what to do, because the phone is already at its factory default settings. Maybe the phone will just never be able to use USB storage mode again?
OKay, I have no idea what happened but everything is working perfectly fine now.
