Hello,
I've got weird problem. My diamond doesn't turn screen off after idle. In 'Settings->Power->Advanced' I have 10sec -> turn backlight off and 40sec -> turn device off. Turning backlight off works just fine, but it never turn whole screen off I have to push power off button to achieve that. If I forget to push power off button my battery run out very fast.
Please help

Has anyone noticed on either the Tilt or Kaiser that sometimes the device will not enter sleep mode?
It seems like when my Tilt running the stock AT&T Rom is on AC power, it will not enter sleep mode even though I have it set to sleep after 5 minutes on AC power. This is not while connected via USB to a PC running ActiveSync as that WILL keep the device alive, I'm talking about connected to the power brick.
After 5 minutes the screen will dim but not sleep. Running on battery power the timeout will usually happen. If it doesn't sleep the display just dims like it did above.
Settings for power are set to shut off after 5 minutes.
Any ideas?
Todd
I've noticed that mine does the same thing, just doesn't turn off when plugged into AC. I'm not aware of any "fix" for it persay, I just dismissed it as a minor bug of the OS. I would be curious if if anyone does have a solution to this, but it's not that big a deal IMO.
I noticed it also, but don't care. However, if it happens while on battery, try changing the time to something else and then back. My battery was draining QUICK and finally I realized that it wasn't turning off. Doing the above fixed it.
Thanks for the replies. Not that I feel better about it but at least others have the same issue. It's not a big deal if plugged, just wondering why.

I just got into the habit of manually hitting the power button and putting it to sleep before holstering it and right after pluging it in.
Same here, it would go to sleep on DC power but would stay awake on AC power.
Dont worry.
I'm sure it goes into sleep when you press the power button.
Ahhh, is that what that button is for?!
Perhaps is supposed to be this way, but I have noticed that my backlight won't turn off when plugged in - even though set to turn off after 2 minutes when plugged in. Instead of turning off, it seems to revert to a dim mode - but the light still remains on. I have to manually turn it off. Any thoughts?
That's what it does. Unless the phone is off, the display can't be turned completely off. This is because the screen is not transreflective.
I understand that, but the trouble is that the backlight remains on. Surely that's not supposed to happen, right?
no, thats not normal behaviour.
do you have anything running in the background? its sometimes a good idea to go into the settings and untick the boxes, soft reset the device, then put the settings back the way you want them. This has worked for me in the past.
Are you talking when the device is plugged into the USB port w/ ActiveSync running? If so that is how it works - device will stay on.
If you are talking about plugged into AC then it should power off after x amount of minutes.
To be clear, if the phone is ON, the backlight will always be ON. This is different from the previous Hermes/8525 that had a transreflective screen which could be seen in bright light with the backlight off.
The Kaiser/Tilt's don't have transreflective displays so they changed the backlight control to dim instead of OFF. When the display brightness slider is put to minimum or the display timer expires the display just dims.
Pressing the power button and going to standby is the only way to turn off the display that I'm aware of.
Now, Auto Power off after a timer expire is different. If you set the power settings to turn off after 2 minutes while on A/C, the Kaiser will turn off, IF it's not connected to Active Sync, and IF there isn't some other application keeping the phone alive (Apps like iNav keep the phone alive).
I notice that my X1 backlight won't turn off.
Even if I set backlight to off after some time, the light just become less bright but not totally off as compared with my HTC Hermes/Tytn.
Is it a "feature" for X1? Will it hurt the LCD if the backlight not turn off, especially that I usually leave it on while charging with USB of my PC?
The backlight dims to minimum instead of turning off completely. If you are connected to a PC it won't turn the screen off, despite the setting in power management. If it is charged with a charger (not PC connected) it will turn the screen off if it is set up to do so.
Tap the power button to turn the screen off and disable the touch feature... key's remain unlocked and apps keep running
I am having a similar issue, if I push the power button to turn off the screen, it turns off, but then 5-6 seconds later it comes back on, this is after a hard reset and no other programs. Any idea what could be causing this?
Hey I just started having the exact same problem today. Turn off backlight with the power button, moments later it comes back on. This 'ghost' activation is inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn't come on for a while, but it will eventually come on.
About 2 weeks ago I spilled some water on it. I dried it out with a hair dryer and all seemed fine but now I'm wondering. It's almost like the power button is shorting out, turning the darn thing on. Any clues or solutions out there?http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Hi
So I have an Acer Netbook, the D620.
Earlier, I closed the laptop (not shutdown)
and as usual the CPU lights went off with the power light flashing indicating standby.
After an hour or so, I saw all the lights except the WiFi one were on, (power CPU and Ram) . When I opened the lid of the laptop, it didn't come out of standby mode. Just a black screen
I did what any Android user would do. Pulled the battery. It rebooted fine.
This has happened like 5-6 times now. Any ideas?

Reinstall Windows(or Linux or whatever you have on there). Works every time.
What you have to do is smack the keyboard really hard at least 2 sets of 10 times. If that doesn't work, then you have something running in the background, which makes your laptop wake up. When you open it, just wait a minute and it will turn on.

I waited for an hour. Nothing happened.
That was your laptop going from sleep to turned off. if that happens again dont just pull the battery, just press the power button and hold it for about 10 seconds. once its off just press it again to turn on.

It doesn't go from sleep to turned off. It goes from sleep to lights on but blank screen mode.
I need it to stay in sleep because overnight it switches itself on and by morning I have 10% battery

then there is something that prevents it from turning off or hibernating. Go to your power settings and make sure that there is nothing like turn off after 1 hour of being in sleep mode or something like that. Why arent you turning it off or putting it in Standby mode? Standby still resumes fast.

Sometimes I'm in a hurry and I can't put it in standby. I'll see the power thing though

You can use the power settings and tell the laptop to go into standby when you close the lid.
And make sure you have hybrid sleep mode disabled.

When I power the phone on, it doesnt go to the white HTC splash screen, it stays off until the home screen loads, and I cant turn the display off unless I turn off the phone. What can I do? obviously its draining my battery too
