Just wondering if anyone's tried this case. It would be nice to know about the quality and fitting. I'm also very curious if that belt clip will last.
Thanks in advance!
J
hello,
I've not tried this case but I've had several with the plastic belt clip
and if you have a job that involves sitting a lot they can be fragile,
or if you do lots of manual work. I find the sewn belt loops flatter
and stronger. the krussel case is hard to beat
jay
Never used it, but i'm certain you'll soon be disappointed if you buy that case. IMO, a good case is an absolute must. You don't want your Athena falling off your hip when getting out of the car do you? This always happened with my old axim case with a plastic clip. Nutshell guarantees their case, including the steel clip or leather loop (whichever you get), for two years. Expensive though, but worth every penny to protect my athena.

Actually, It'll probably end up in my pocket. I like those cases where you don't have to take them off to use the phone. That's why I was eyeballing this one.

Just watch the screen. I once put my universal in a case in my trousers pocket, you guessed it the screen cracked! cost £100 to fix it. lord knows how much the athena's screen would cost, more than the machine is worth I guess.
I have one, the 2nd week the belt clip brike getting in the car. Not to mention the phone slipped right out from it twice, with my foot action as a cushion (broke a piece of th tab on the battery door) and the 2nd time was last week at the gas station. The cases are designed with crappy materials but with a bit of mod I saved mine from going into the garbage. I had to cut the back open and put a piece of plastic in it for more support against it flopping. I used a hot air gun to soften the side holders and bend them in slightly for a more snugged fit. At the end of all that the next morning I broke the plastic tab on the case going into the car. Now I still have the case using but only because I've not finished mounting the belt clip on the OEM case as yet, as i've already already cut a caller display into the case and used that strip to make a leather flap to close it. Once I find a steardy belt clip I will post pictures of the mod. If I can't find one strong enough that will not break I will go for a standard clip mounted back and stitched on for a better look.
Back to this clip, I would recommend getting it if you can do a little bit of mod on your own, but BE WARNED if you don't mod the rails on it, your liable to damage your device, when (i said when, because eventually it will) slide out.
See what I said about that ebay case, and what you should buy instead on my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344605
Bottom line, run FAR, far away from that ebay case.
Tuff-as-Nuts now has an option to get a slightly larger Athena case that will accomodate the Athena+case (thanks to my having one special ordered one). You can now have it either way.

Ebay Trash
I had the ebay case for one week before the clip broke. It is made of the cheapest, thinnest plastic I have ever seen. I have a Verizon phone from my employer that came with a clip similar to this one. Even though the Verizon phone is about 80% lighter than the Advantage, the clip that came with it has plastic three times thicker. After the Ebay clip broke, I started using the case with my Verizon clip. It took another week for the post on the case to break.
It is amazing how shoddy this design is. If you can get it on ebay for $3 (including shipping) I would get it, but only to use as a case. It will not survive on your belt.

I bought this case recently (based on the similar device dimensions) and was quite pleased with it. I need a belt clip so I can always have both hands free. It adds a bit of bulk to the device but feels quite secure on the belt. I thought the case would be a tight-fit but the athena (+ keybd) feels just slightly loose in it which is good. I just push the edges upwards to eject. Worth the price I think.

edit: old post 12 has been deleted. Good. (which now makes this post 12, lol)
Hey everyone. I recently ordered a case off of amazon for my TMOUS HD2 that was listed for $0.01. I didn't know if it would be any good, but for a penny and $3 shipping it was hard to argue. Just got the case and I had to share because its a damn nice case for a penny! Feels super sturdy and the entire inside is lined with a soft material to prevent scratching. The flap on the front has some magnets sewn in so it stays secure. It does have a belt clip on the back which I'm not a huge fan of since I only store it in my pocket, but its got a pretty low profile as far as belt clips go so it doesn't bug me too much. When you first put your phone in its a pretty tight fit, but give it a day and it becomes a lot easier to slip in and out. I liked it so much I just placed an order for my buddy's HD2 and my gf's Incredible (doesn't fit the Incredible as well, but totally workable and she just needed something she could clip inside her purse. I know finding a good case can be a pain, but hopefully some of you will find this helpful Feel free to hit me up with any specific questions. Oh I should also mention that I had looked into some other cases such as OtterBox etc, but I wanted something that looked a bit more professional and didn't encase the phone.
Here is the link
I am having a hard time deciding between the seidio Rugged or one of the otterbox cases. I am a contractor and need a protective case badly. I have had the incredible since launch. used the case/belt clip combo from verizon store...the one that doesn't cover the ends...dumb case imo. and ended up taking that off recently to just slide phone in pocket, as that case didn't protect the phone very much at all. but the best one available at the store at launch.
I ended up having to get a replacement phone, and recieved it today. I want to be able to protect this one better.
Physical damage and dust are both a problem durring work hours.
I wish I could find these new cases at a local store to compare in person.
Has anyone seen both of these types of cases?
which do you like better, and why?
I am leaning toward the seido because of the two different cases that come with it. I like to slide the phone in my pocket on weekends.
thanks,
Jon

Oh wow, your story is a direct parallel to mine! I am a mechanical contractor (HVAC/R) who also has the incredible since launch, I myself have been using the the belt clip and shell that resembles diamond plate sold by verizon, an ok case but just doesnt cut it in the trades.
A month ago I bought the Otterbox defender, while it covers the phone well and adds much better protection, the fit of the phone inside is poor, I broke the belt clip two weeks into owning it. Otterbox did replace the belt clip but the time it took was almost two weeks. Just a few days ago the little detent on the otterbox that holds the phone in the holster broke so now I'm back to square one.
Just yesterday I decided to ordered Seidio Rugged case from amazon, I never owned nor held one but I figured it would be money better spent rather than buying another otterbox. I just don't think the otterbox quality is quite there. I expect to have the new case on or around 1-06-2011 and after I get it and put it to use I will update you on it so you can make a better decision.
thanks for the response...
I have read about different peoples experiences with these different cases, and still wish I could see them in person before purchasing. I am really close to going ahead with the Seidio Rugged, and might order it today.
Jon
I'm also a contractor installing satellites and am very happy with the Seidio Rugged.
What sold me on the Seidio Rugged was the "Face In" design and the 3 layers of protection. Sure, the 3 layers adds mega thickness but doing all the "cell destructive" stuff I do, it's a very minor thing to deal with. In fact, the few times I've taken the case off, the phone felt too small and fragile.
On the second Seidio Rugged case simply because in a stupid moment just grabbed the phone and ripped it off my belt instead of taking the clip off. No idea what was thinking but needed a new clip so just got the whole thing again.
But yeah, if you use a tool belt, climb ladders, crawl under houses, or any of the crazy dirty stuff contractors do, get a Rugged.
landscape installer/maintainer here. go with the seidio. im hard on all my stuff. and i have had the rugged for 6 mo. and havent destroyed it yet. locking mech. and belt clip still work fine. and the 3 layers on the actual case is very protective.
got mine on amazon for under 40 shipped.
seidio rugged here also.. best case Ive used...
I ordered the Seidio rugged today.
looking forward to it getting it here...
My Seidio Rugged outer skeleton snapped yesterday. I wasn't applying any pressure, just taking it off and snap. So I ordered a Case-Mate Tough Case. I'm sure it will work just fine.

This happened to mine as well. Seidio is good about replacing it....no real need to buy a new case. At any rate I recommend the rugged case. I have dropped my phone more times than I would care to admit and this case has saved it a few times over. I figured my exoskeleton was weakened from all the drops...and I had the tendency to take it off and put it back on for no reason when i got bored. Also it looks bad *** in my opinion...
Well as I explained in an earlier post I have been using the Otterbox Defender and while it offers more protection than other cases I have used it simply seem to lack quality and convenience. I did order the Seidio Rugged case to give it a shot and to my suprise when I came home from work today my rugged case was delivered. I wasn't expecting it until 1-06-2011.
I have to say after getting my phone in it and set up my initial feelings are it appears to be a well designed case that offers very nice protection to the phone and actually adds less bulk than the otterbox. I have not used it in the field yet but I will update after a day or two in the field. But I must say at this moment I am very pleased with my decision on the Rugged case and am kicking myself in the but for not making it my first my first choice.
received the Rugged case today....
the case was in the mailbox today.
I am impressed with the case. and will feel a lot better about the protection for my Incredible phone when on the job site. When all of the case components are on the phone, it definitely adds quite a bit of bulk. That will be something for me to get use to, for sure. But, I feel that it will not be a problem.
I can totally understand how some people have accidently torn the rubber access piece off that covers the micro usb port. I hope I don't tear it off, but realistically feel that it is just a matter of time, as it is a very small piece of rubber that keeps it attached...
I really like the fact that the innocase II is the base layer. I expect that it will be my weekend case.
I thought about not applying the screen protector, due to the problems i have had in the past applying screen protectors (ie...bubbles that won't go away, dust particles, etc.)...but, decided to try it. Well, it applied better than I ever could have hoped for. I started by aligning it at the top around the ear speaker, and just smoothed it out as I let it apply itself to the screen. It fits well for the most part, but could have been just a hair longer from top to bottom.
I am excited to have this case. I only wish I had not waited this long to make myself spend the money on it.
Hopefully i will be this happy with it in the coming days and weeks...

I tore the rubber camera protector flap off my rugged maybe 2 months ago now, I contacted Seidio and they had a replacement outer rubber to me within a week. They are good about replacements.
(Note I was also only a week outside of the warranty period)
Seidio Rugged is a Wonderful Case
I have had the Seidio Rugged case for about two weeks now and it's wonderful! I don't find myself using the holster much, only when I go on a run do I attach it to an armband and slip the phone in the case so I can track my runs with Cardio Trainer.
I really like the feel of the case. It makes me feel like I'm holding a more powerful phone in my hands, whereas without the case, I feel like it's just too light to perform as well as it does. lol. However, size doesn't matter as some say, and is always a personal preference.
I would definitely say get the case if you want more protection and are willing to make the phone a few millimeters thicker. I definitely worry less about my phone breaking now. My only gripe is the camera cover tends not to stay pinned back in the little restraint Seidio made for it. Beyond that, wonderful case all around and I'd recommend getting it.

Bloody hell!!!!
Have had this case for months and have FOUGHT that damn flap every time!! Never even noticed that little hole.... Use the flash light app every day almost to see behind peoples TV's and audio equipment and have always had to hold the flap down....
Thank you VERY MUCH for your post. Feel like an idiot, but happy to know it now.
As a construction worker, I was about to buy an Otterbox before stumbling upon this thread. Did some research, looked at a few videos, and I think I'm gonna settle for the Seidio now. Either way, both look like great cases and I couldn't go wrong with either. The Seidio on the other hand converts to a normal case when not on the job site, so that's where it wins IMO. Also, the belt clip looks better designed. Thanks XDA! You guys rule!
Cannot say I have ANY complaints about the rugged. Think about it this way: when you need it protected, you have 3 layers + a holster. If you want simple, but cased, you got the Innocase II underneath which still can hold its own as a case not to mention that it looks nice and slim also. The thing that sold me though was the holster. It comes with a lock switch which means that this baby aint never falling off. I can remove, unlock, lock, attach the phone all with my index and thumb. So easy, yet so secure.
However, I did have one gripe about this phone, and that was the covers for the USB port and the Headphone jack. It has no notches to pull out easily and it tends to get lost in the groove that it fits in to. At first, I was extremely aggravated that this happened and was worried I would ruin the rubber. BUT I found that when I pinch the sides of the case (which I totally forgot was rubber), the flaps would pop out like nothing.
So yes, the one thing that would have held me back was solved, and I am happy to report that this thing is a beast. Of course if you don't want a big thing to lug around, then don't get this, but I gotta say... it feels like a tank, and I feel secure taking this thing everywhere with me now. =D
I've had the rugged for quite a while...just to have it really. Being a social worker doesn't really but my dinc at risk. I do enjoy the feel of having it in the case when I do though, although it seems that sometimes the holster seems to catch the rubber a bit more than I'd like. I'm glad to see it seems to be a step above the otterbox.
i'm been using the ottorbox commuter and i've had no problem, i love it cause its not as bulky as other cases.
Ya definitely going with the seidio rugged case setup. I can do without the belt clip attachment though. I can see that breaking off within a week at work with me. But the rest of the case(s) are just what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the thoughts, I am in the same boat as you guys.
I need to make a decision on which one to get. I really want to figure a way out on putting a belt clip on one of these, but not sure how to or what clip would work. It seems the Noreve was offered with a belt clip which was later no longer issued as it was breaking due to the weight of the case and streak in it. If anyone has one of these and worked out a way, please let me know. Thanks:
Noreve
Tuff-Luv
I have a Tuff Luv case, reviewed on here a while back, great piece of kit and very well made but no belt clip. To be honest I wouldn't trust my streak to a belt clip no matter who made it.

Hi,
from what I have read on the forum and the net..
I can say, carrying it on a Belt (clipped) may not be the best idea.
It either goes well in your deep(er) pant pocket, or in your backpack!
from the choice, the Noreve seems much more classy than the later one.
My 2 cents!
care,
Sony
I agree. The device is to big to be trusting it to some cheap plastic belt clip. even tho I ordered the defender by otter box I know for a fact ill never use the belt clip.
The noreve looks better..plus there is a stand on the back , bit more functional
Thanks all for the input. I am surprised that many have stated that a belt clip is not desired. I must say, I have been carrying it around with the cloth pouch that came with it for the last few weeks and I really don't think I would trust not having it on my belt. This may be because I have always had a leather flip type case for all my previous phones for close to 15+ years.
The other thing is that I don't think I would trust to keep it in jeans pocket and other than work, I don't carry any sort of bag with me, so I need something that does not consume one hand.
But this is interesting feedback. I was hoping to get something more like this and not some adhesive thing. Although, they seem to only be selling a minimum quantity of 1500.
Also, Noreve seems to have this clip which I don't know if it was the one they offered before, but it looks like it is a new design. I will need to contact them to see if their streak case has the place to screw in the part that slides into the clip. But, the one with the rivets and backing plate does look a whole lot more secure.
I ordered one of these with belt clip number 01 (scroll down to look at options). They will custom make them to your dimensions if you want to put it in the case with a cover on it. I have not received mine yet, but reviews elsewhere were very good. They offer other configurations. Right now they have no listings because of the Chinese New year.
Well, it looks like the Noreve case + clip + shipping will cost USD $103. Probably twice as much as I was looking at paying.
I guess I'll be back to looking at the Otter Defender or the Tuff-Luv if I can modify it. So strange that most nice accessories for this phone is only available across the pond.

Yes, I had first look into this. The issue I have with this other than waiting for their New Year to complete is that I am afraid of dropping the streak after taking it out of the case. With the two I was looking at and also the defender, at least they are made to stay in a case and benefit from some protection.
I don't know anymore, it is becoming frustrating. With all these price points and pros and cons, it is hard to just try them all by ordering and no place to go an try them without purchasing.

I ordered the easecase large enough so that I can leave the Otterbox Impact case on the phone and carry it in the leather case. My thinking was that I have a carry case and I still have protection when I remove it.
The best way to carry/manage using the Streak as an every day device is still evolving for me. I have spent at least 1/2 the cost of the phone on accessories.

hmmm.....this is very interesting.....I know when I had my iPhone, I got this and then put it into a leather belt case, so this may actually be like the same thing. I would probably go for the commuter case however as I read the silicon is a bit different from the Impact and Defender in that it is less susceptible to lint etc.
Thanks for the idea. The cost will run it up there again to approx $70-80 and I'll have to wait about 2-3 weeks for the easecase part
2devnull,
I don't believe that there are any good inexpensive ways to carry the Streak around and protect it. I have seen reports of some people using a Nintendo DS carrying case. I looked at that and just didn't want to go that way.
What about this one?
Just found this one on Amazon

Well, I think I'm going the Otterbox Commuter + Easecase route unless something changes by the time Easecase returns.
I too am looking for a belt leather case for my Streak as I don't like caring the device in my pocket too much. I did contact
I contacted Noreve regarding their CLIP and Case combo but here is what I got!
Is the Dell Streak case compatible with the belt clip?
Do you have a case for Dell Streak that can be clipped to a belt?
Dear Rafal,
No I am sorry.
Too heavy.

A lot of money for something that does not close and you risk taking out an unprotected Streak and dropping it. A little modification and internal size would be ideal so that you can put a protected Streak (with Impact or Commuter or even jelly) inside it.

The Monaco case is only useful if you use your phone with no cover/case. I had one for one day. I got it in a batch if stuff I bought and sold it the next day. It does look well made and suits someone who carries the Streak naked. It would be great for someone who carries the Streak in a purse or backpack a lot.
I have the Otterbox Defender on my phone and bought a case from eBay seller easecase. They will customize the cases to your dimensions. I will get some pics up of my easecase soon.
I offered the Monaco as a suggestion because everyone uses their phone differently and if you like going light and sleek it would be a good fit.
I stated before that I have not found any good cheap options. I got my Defender for no cost, but had to buy a group of accessories and then sell what I did not want to do that. I have more time than money so that method worked for me.
Agreed, if a purse or bag or someone who is comfortable with a naked Streak, it would be ideal - however I think I read that it does not close correctly.

The one that I had was a perfect fit for the phone with no case. The openings were aligned properly for the headphone and charging ports. If I were carrying my Streak with no other case/cover on it I would have kept it.
The Monaco case is such a good fit that even a TPU case makes the phone too big.
Hello all
I'm looking for a soft material (leather, fake leather, canvas what ever) belt clip holster for a Note 5 that is in a Otterbox defender as well.
Hopefully the holster would host most of the device but still be easy to slip out and also would have a magnetic closing clip.
Basically I need to the Otterbox due to my environment, and tried it yesterday for the first time and it was great, but the clip on holster for it that comes with that I can see is not going to work.
For the one smartphone I had before it was considerably smaller but I had a holster for that, and in using both, I know that is what I need.
So does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks greatly for any help.

I use one of these, I picked up when getting an oil filter for my car, holds my note 5 in an otterbox symmetry, as well as a nexus 6 in a slim case, at the same time. should be plenty for the note in a defender

Hey guys.
Been a while since I made this post so I kinda forgot about it, but thought I would post what I did end up getting.
Got this off ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371557478974?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Given its price as you can expect its not top shelf quality in materials and construction.
Basically for this unit I actually found one of some other brand that had a dif imprint on the front, but it was completely the same in every other way. So I guess point is, there is probably some cheap maker who sells to a few resellers.
Again the quality is not great and for both they had some bad assembly quality and in actually in completely dif areas. So guess my point is, is kinda a crap shoot as to what issues is might have.
But if its just a little off at first, funny things with these is they do tend to stretch and eventually mold to your phone. But will say the one I am using now even had the center part for the clip a bit off the 0-180 mark, so its already getting worn out an loose.
But probably the biggest thing I would say is that while the phone and with the otter box cover fit into the sleeve part nice, the front cover really did not close right at first.
Basic problem is that as it uses a magnet, the phone with the otter box was a little to tall an so the cover could not wrap around the top enough to meet its counterpart contact inline.
So basically the cover would just sit flapped open a bit.
For this though it actually was not that far away, so what I did was spend sometime with a heat gun and the phone in the case and just heated the outside and pulled on it till I stretched it enough that it made good contact.
Thankfully I was able to do this without doing and physical damage to the material either.
In the end the case is pretty good for me, was nice and cheap which if you're in a harsh environment like me is good as any is going to get destroyed, so at least I am not doing that to a more costly case.
Fit is good enough and while in need of a little work when I got it, after now is fine.
Down sides is I am sure given the quality it will only last a year or two, but hey who keeps any device longer then that. Also its a gamble to what ever defects it might have when it comes and perhaps if bad enough, may not be usable at all.
Hope that is help to others.
