I'm saddened by the high increase of irrelevant posts, and even more about the sometimes aggressive responses given to newbies.
As I see it, there is no way to completely get rid of newbies' questions or posts. So, the poll' question is: what should be the best attitude toward irrelevant posts/questions?
I hope this poll might contribute some how in having a better conduct and efficiency here in XDA.
Cheers everyone
FYI, check also XDA official' RULES: Please read this before posting
You need another voting option: post a link to the appropriate page/site (Wiki, MrVanx's Guide etc) and advise them to read as much as possible and understand what they are doing before they create a very expensive brick, without wasting time insulting and looking like an arrogant ****.
Short polite and to the point.
Unless you have a hangover of course........
I second that option
That didn't even work in this case.
That one's not even smart enough to click on the hyperlink to get the information he was "spoon fed".

I think the 3rd option is the one that comes nearest in this situation.
Here´s a proposal

I´m a member of another forum (not related to phones nor PPCs !) Whenever a question comes on an issue of those already answered a ton of times the moderator "sends the member posting the question TO READ", this means that this member has no right to post anything during a week. I don´t know if this forum has such capability and I don´t know neither if the mods would be willing to take this "extra" job.
Sounds quite drastic, although maybe a base to think of other possibilities how to handle the issue.
Surely, XDA deserves better than what I've seen in the past few weeks in the Hermes' forum.
Answer the question or STFU
But above all, don't reply to the post with an RTFM Noob post only. Maybe answer the question then do an RTFM in the same post.
RTFM posts add no value whatsoever, aside from making the poster feel smart.

Well, I am new to this forum. But, I have to agree we need aggressive measure to deal with people don't do the work of search.
Personally, I don't have many posts because I can find answers to almost all of my questions just by searching and spend time reading. So, not all newbies are bad, but you need to deal with the bad ones with a hard hand.
You senior members are getting about as bad on this issue as the newbies asking the same questions over and over. If you would have used the search button, you would have found that there have been 3950 threads about what to do with newbies and 423,654 flame posts to a newbie. Okay, so that was a joke but, for the love of all things holy, can we move on?
Sincerely,
Newbie who uses search button, has read the wiki (in part so far) and who doesn't ask questions that could in any way be misconstrued as not having done the aforementioned.
Scratch that. I am now a junior member. Woohoo for me!
help them,
some people are not pda svay and new to it all, they may have had a cell prior and dont work in a tech/IT role so may not be to sharp on a lot of the tech side
Everyone starts somewere,if you can take the time to reply with an insult or try google ,then you can find the time to point em in the right direction
Imagine if you took your car to be looked at and got the same response,ok the info is free and you can use search, but a little help goes a long way
its the net ,use it to gain info and spread it,not sit being smug or post insults
if we all use the net to its full potential we can achive so many things
i am sure we all have been newbies before. how would you have like to be treated/replied?
i suggest if the noob question is polite, then answer it politely and give some advise on how to use the search function and the wiki.
if the noob question is somehow impolite, aggressive, etc., perhaps a little apprehension/reminder is required.

You've taken your car to be looked at and NOT got the same response?
Wow, you have nicer car mechanics in your area.....
There are various levels of noob, which need to be distinguished between.
There are those who have tried to search and read but not fund the answer, although it may be there. (maybe wrong search terms)
There are those who have not looked hard enough and are just being lazy. (perhaps they were put off by the huge number of posts etc)
There are those who demand answers without looking.
There are those who demand answers to questions which demonstrate that they really have not even tried to get any kind of an idea of what they are doing.
Favourite recent examples are :
CAN I LOAD WINDOWS MOBILE 6.0 ON SONYERICSSON M600i (UIQ 3)
i have downloaded black v3 but want to check if it will install to my Dell Axim aswell as my spv????
Where can I get Windows Mobile 6?
Tis funny, another post on what to do with us...
Hi, as a noob myself, new to the hermes, nothing else... I lurked here for a while before actually registering... I was really disheartened by the posts of RTFM and the like... I tried searching for my answers with the limited capabilities of this forum (don't get me wrong, I like the forum, but the search sux), but rarely could find what I was looking for... It wasn't until someone actually included a link to another noob with the various ways to successfully search the forum, that I decided to register...
If we could use the google search link as a sticky, it may help... I believe that the google advanced search link is included in the FAQs, if not, it should be... but I have simply added it to my sig... My suggestion would be for those of us who tire from 'ignorant' posts to do likewise...
(turn back on crowd and leave soapbox for next speaker)

By the way, check it, it´s been updated recently with good info for the WM6 adicts....

Whatever. You know the seniors' stance is questionable when the entire purpose of setting up another private forum is to "get away from n00bs", and when you hit 100 posts you aren't even allowed to ask a simple, obscure question because it appeared in a topic like more than 6 months ago, and you're supposed to be "experienced" enough to know.
Everyone here has valid points, but it still doesn't solve the problem... It will not be an easy one to solve, as long as the search function is not blatantly put in front of noobs... As I said before, I lurked for a while before even registering because of the flaming posts for "stupid" questions... Need everyone be reminded that English is not the first language for everyone on this board...? That makes it a little harder for someone to properly search for the correct items and locate them... Then they are tasked with understanding what is written... And since it has become okay to use acronyms while typing, translators cannot keep up... Hell, it took me a couple of hours to figure out what RTFM meant...
Anyway, making things a bit easier for those with less knowledge cannot possibly be a wrong turn...
... and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Unlike what appears to be general consensus, I'm pretty much sold on Touchflo 3D, bút I still have some problems and questions some might be able to answer. Some of the questions I know are still unanswerable, some have already been answered, but I'm just writing them down for completeness. The ones that have been answered have been edited in for future reference.
- Can Opera be removed or can the Browser globe on the Internet page of TF3D be linked to Internet Explorer?
According to KukurikU, the answer to this question remains no for now. Probably, a modified ROM can change this behaviour. NChief says that using Opera some more would be a better idea, as he feels its a more capable browser.
- Can the background of TF3D be changed on all pages, instead of only the Home screen?
Not yet. This might be in future updates.
- Can we add custom cities to the TF3D Weather application?
No, according to a thread about this question, for now it appears HTC is using a DNS referral to forward our weather inquiries to AccuWeather in a special layout. Using any city in this script that is not listed in the normal list yields no result as the whole thing just reverts.
- Can you set the SMS/E-mail pages in TF3D to only display unread SMS/E-mail?
Not yet. This might be an option when TouchFlo 3D is more heavily modded.
- Can I have the battery indicator show at the top of the screen while TF3D is running?
According to most people, it should already be there. Sadly, it is not for me. I'll investigate this some more to find out if there is a particular reason for this.
- Can anyone tell me whether the bottom USB connector on the Diamond is a modified 5-pin USB mini connector, and whether such a plug can be used to charge the phone (in case I lose my original powercable).
Again, according to KukurikU, the original cable is a modified 5 pins mini-USB adapter, I'm going to take the guess that the remaining pins are used for audio/feedback purposes.
- What are generally accepted must-have games, and generally accepted must-have applications for WM6 / Diamond?
Sadly, KukurikU felt he was not intelligent enough to answer this question. Until now, I've found that Advanced Configuration is one handy utility to have (especially in combination with the quite useful tweaks topic), and that alternate GPS software (ie besides Google Maps) is much lighter on the battery.
I also have some remarks and comments:
- Hard-SPL Dev + TLR's ROM are on my Diamond and they're great improvements. They stopped me from returning my Dutch, crippled ROM without handwriting support, slow, laggy stuff.
- Overall impressed. Good battery-life, fast, responsive, uncluttered, very broad range of possibilities, wow.
In case I asked any stupid questions: yes, I'm new. Sue me.
Why, I'm glad to see so many enthusiastic replies . Let me add another question then:
- Is it possible to minimize TT7 while still having it use the voices to indicate the route (ie. to listen music and TT7 at the same time), and if not, does another navigation program support this?
It appears this should be possible, and in some cases I find it does work, in some cases it doesn't. If I find out what way to get both running is best, I'll edit it in.
- Learn to use opera and you will notice that it's WAY better than IE
- The background can not be changed on all TF3D pages (yet?)
- You can not add custom cityes to the TF3D Weather application
- I have learnd that I can use any mini-USB cabel for chargeing(don't think its recomended tho)
That's the questions I can answer, hope I got them right.
btw, try searching the forum

I already stated in the first post that many of these have already been answered, but that I'm listing them for completeness. Please, if you want to point the finger at anyone not reading, please point it at yourself. Especially for you, I've been so free to bolden the text I'm referring to in my first post.
Besides that, I must say the search function on this forum is pretty useless - thanks to people posting those same questions over and over. For one of my questions, I ended up going back to page 13. I'm glad this forum is so inviting to people with questions, I mean, after all, a forum is not for asking things, is it now? Of course not, that would be absurd. Especially seeing that to find the answers to some of these questions, you have to spend almost an hour digging through multi-page threads in a 50-page topic list. It would be extremely hard to answer those questions for someone who knows the answer to these, I know, but honestly, I take it someone can put in the heroic and epic effort to at least try? Now, if there were a sticky with questions answered too often, that'd be a first step in the good direction. A bit like the, may I add, excellent list of tweaks. Do you hear anyone ask for tweaks besides in that topic? Of course not, there's a practical resource for going through that.
Nevertheless, I would like the answers on the questions not answered yet. There are at least three I know have not been answered yet, or of which I could not find the answer. At least, thanks for the ironic reply.

this is a good example of life-death question. here is an answer: you should have it all the time, it is already there! duh!? look again...
i think you didn't notice that the great majority of posters here are fighting with really technical issues or waiting for help in critical issues, not to mention the ones that are developing tools and applications to make our diamond more reliable and fast. the forum is full with "after 1 week", "i have it for 2 weeks" complains and reviews. don't want to be mean or sarcastic (and it is hard for me not to) but could wait a little more or search a little more here and in other places?
I agree with tha-rami, the search function doesn't always provide the results you want and this is a forum i.e. a medium for a free and open exchange of views. Yes, a search is most peoples' first option but I for one simply don't have the time to spend hours and hours trawling through each page and topic.
Have a little patience and don't assume that a poster hasn't searched - two days ago the search function didn't work at all for me. If you can't be constructive in a reply then you have to question why you're replying at all!

On my previous Touch and Touch Dual and also Ameo devices ive had Tom Tom Navigator 6 minimised with music playing and the Voice directions have still worked.
I have John Cleese as the Voice on my device and its great listening to him chatting all over some dance music! hehe!
Regarding the custom city in Weather, see this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397599
I agree with both sides of the argument.
It took me a few seconds to search for Custom City part of the Forum, but ive also had problems searching for items.
It would be nice if there was a thread started, that literally was edited and updated with all the common questions. (I suppose thats what the Wiki's for, but i never look at it as its never usually up to date) no other posts were added just 1 long 1st post that had a list of all the useful threads in it and what they were.
It can be hard trawling through many pages of threads trying to find what you want, but in my experience its worth it! Some of the replys to people asking questions can be a bit sarcastic tho...
eg
Search the Forum
Try Searching
or
Have you thought about Clicking on Search?
But i understand where these people are coming from, they have all searched through the forums and looked for what they want. Maybe it does take a little longer but im hoping that moderators will begin to tidy things up on here as there are alot of duplicate posts and information.
I think maybe the Forum should have a "Diamond Reviews" or "Reviews and Experiences" section added in. That way all the people that want to voice their opinions can do in their own part of the forum, plus this will free up some of the General Diamond discussions. Just an idea, please dont flame me for my opinion.
Anyway, I agree that XDA Developers is an excellent source of information for all things Diamond. All good! Glad its here and glad there are so many helpful people on here. Nice one!

The arrogance is outstanding! There are just three sub-forums here for the Diamond so if you super smart phone geeks want to have your own sub-forum I suggest you start one - 'uber geek' or similar. This is a forum as previously stated and some seem to spend a great deal of time putting an individual down rather than pointing them in the right direction. Don't mention the search facility, it's poor. This evening I searched for 'GPS latitude' (I wanted to see if I could get raw lat & long without installing TomTom, Co-pilot or something similar). The result of the search pointed me to a thread of multiple pages - I got to page 13 before I gave up without any mention of anything relevant.
I give up quite a bit of my time suporting people via the Microsoft newsgroups for Vista, Outlook and wireless networks in the full knowledge that most posters don't have the knowledge that I do in these areas but, not once have I arbitarily decided that I'm smarter than them. No doubt in some cases I will be and in some cases I won't. But for your information, if qualifications are any measure of 'smartness' (and they're not!), I have a Bachelors and two Masters degrees and the next time your aircraft takes off late flying you to wherever it might just be because I'm searching a forum for the umpteenth hour.

Why, thank you. I'm not even going to reply further to Mr Ray, as I've had quite some fun reading his reply. He seems to indeed be quite literal, and he appears very good at ignoring the very cause of a forum and for indeed seems to love using that to put 40 minutes into trying to make fun out of someone (which ended up in a fail, although I did chuckle at the "Is it now?" thing, which was, admittedly, rather funny). Now, you, you are pretty horrible as well, but luckily, you posted some answers.
I'm glad to see people agree with me, and I know why. I know that they know that even Mr Ray and you both started one day by asking a question here. I know that most likely, you've been treated the exact same way, or that you were so lucky running into a normal person who has more to do than wasting 40 minutes putting someone down. Well, try someone else for that, I usually just skip those posts.
Oddly, I have a problem with one of the questions - and the problem is: there is no battery indicator, and if there were, why in gods or any deity's name would I ask for it? I'm using TLR's ROM 1 on a Dutch Diamond. I play to flash it to TLR's ROM 2 as soon as I get Outlook on this PC to at least not lose my contacts, and will report whether or not it shows up then.
Glad to know that the battery charger is indeed an USB 5-pin connector. Also glad to know that there are sane people around. I was thinking of spending some more time on these forums, and seeing that the most active posters around seem to be half-intelligent morons that spend days lurking for threads that contains anything they can flame (a common problem amongst the more 'elite' users of forums, of whom some feel they're too important to waste time reading topic-titles of subcritical questions, but feel new people should click through all 50 pages to find an answer tucked away on page 27 of the topic because the search engine in vBulletin forums sucks big time. I studied some internet- and social psychology, no master in that, though), I think I actually should may I find some spare time. There are probably lots of people around with subimportant questions and the best way to help them, is to help them.
Luckily, there are people like Skier641 around, people who maybe do not know the answer, but do voice their opinion against those of the 'elite' who feel they're exactly that, effectively rendering them useless to both community and forum. Luckily, my questions have been answered rather satisfactory. I'll edit the answers into my first post for further reference. Maybe, some day, the search engine will actually work and yield someone this thread, after which they can quickly and easily find the answers on page 1.
I'm spending too much time on this. For your information, this took 6 minutes to write. I hope that Mr Ray and whatever-his-name-was-again are having 20 minutes of great fun using their reverse psychology on this subject. It's amazing how most likely, they'll spend tens of minutes writing a witty reply to this one, instead of taking the five minutes it would've taken to answer my questions. Or maybe, after I posted that line, they'll act smart and reply in one line. Alternatively, after that line, they may not post at all.
That makes 7 minutes.

No my friend, what is rude is to ask other people to waste their time because you are too lazy to do a little bit of research for yourself.
If you can help someone then help them, if you can't then don't. If you just don't want to help then you are just a user. The most repeated thing I have read in these forums is "use the search" if that is the only comment you can make then get lost! It is true in here that some who think they know something are just abrupt and rude to people who they think know less than themselves. Wisdom expresses itself in many ways, the least of which is "use the search".
Please use the search function.
Its there for your service!
We are all here for each others service.

It is true in here that some who think they know something are just abrupt and rude to people who they think know less than themselves. Wisdom expresses itself in many ways, the least of which is "use the search".

Well said! I must say, as a new user (but a seasoned veteran of similar dev sites), I have been dismayed at how simple questions here from noobs like me, are frequently greeted with thinly veiled contempt and disgust.
I just made a prototype app for the Diamond that uses the G sensor, and would like to get some feedback from folks, but I'm reluctant to start a new thread on the topic in case I unintentionally incur the wrath of the the veterans here!

I'm sure you won't. Your thread will be most welcome.
However, I strongly feel that anybody should try and do some simple research before asking for help. I don't believe it's very polite (nor educational, for that matter) to simply write a post that essentially says: my time is too important to waste on trivial things like trying to find information, but since your time has no value to me, why don't you do that?
I often tried to find things when answering to others if the issue was not described in the forum. If, on the contrary, it has been discussed (and in many cases more than once), I believe that the Search button should be used.
It would be rude not to...
Actually I think it is pretty sad that most people have nothing better to do than to flame people in forums. If you see a question that is addressed somewhere else then either point the person in that direction or just don't answer. I have to agree that sometimes it is not that the person is using the search link but perhaps they are not searching correctly. This is a professional forum and we do not need unprofessional people in it so please play nice everyone.
A lot of the questions on here remind me of the 300ZX forum I used to go on... "I want to do a Twin Turbo swap, what do I need?" How many times do you think that question was answered? How many stickies do you think there were about that same question? Here's what the veterans are trying to make you do... Come into the forum, search for your answer first, then after you don't find it, ask. It prevents the forum from being cluttered and lets the people who really DO have unanswered questions to get answers more quickly. I'm not going to be mean or disrespectful about it, but please, if for nothing else, for the efficiency of helping each other, try to find the answer on your own before you ask a question.
It wouldn't be so bad if the Diamond forums were old with 100s of threads and the question being asked was last answered weeks ago. But the Diamond forums are relatively new and most of the questions being asked have already been asked on the current page or the page 2. You don't even need to use search to find the answer.
I've only been flashing for less than 2 weeks and so far have managed to find all the tools and guides I need by reading the posts on pages 1 and 2. I didn't need to go any deeper or use search.
So if anyone asks a question which has already been answered dozens of times then you should expect a few people to get annoyed. Afterall it takes less effort to read then for someone to type out an explanation again an again.
Also, a lot of questions are too vague, e.g. I can't flash the hardspl. Maybe if you spent a bit more effort saying what you have tried and exactly where the problem is then you might get more help.

Agree 100%. Yeah I get a bit miffed reading the same basic questions, but then when you do use the search engine, it brings back 100's of threads at times, which a new comer to the ppc world might not fully understand.
I had my first ppc phone back with the Blue Angel, and so many guys have helped me along the way since then. It's only the minority who say "Use the search!!!". But having said that, I think this is the least friendly/most abusive ppc forum. I get the general feeling that a few guys in here are above their stations...
Just my 2 pence worth. Not "cents" as I'm British. If you don't know where Britain is, or its monetary system, then use the f**king sear......

Bro:
If you offer us any kind of app with those characteristics you will never incur in the wrath of the the veterans here!
1. new posts that contains or starts with:crappy, wtf (this is real special to me), what to buy, battery life, gps, what programs, who is better, iPhone, how to? (the answer in the manual), polls-bring the killer instinct in me.
2, new posts that contains or starts with:i can not, help, my diamond.., how to ?, where to find, i searched but...., confused-bring the mother Theresa buried deep in me.
3. new posts that contains or starts with:i developed, solved, news, new program, new game, how to (without question mark)-bring up the happy me together with "lets donate", let's be encouraging answer post.
this is not a graffiti wall. this is a place with rules (when you registered you accepted the rules) and don't start useless threads/posts is one of them.
respect the rules and by doing so you respect the place and it's inhabitants.
giving respect will bring you back respect.
interesting threads are pushed back in 2-nd and 3-thrd page by threads started just to chat. the forum is full with such posts started usually by a noobie that is soon joined but 5-8 other noobies that are happily chating about something that's only by far related with diamond. each posts, each answer is bumping the thread up.
since my diamond is today how i wished to be and i don't have to search (ooops, sorry for using dirty words) for answers or tweaks i found great pleasure in helping ppl that need help but only ppl that at least tried to solve, to search and help themselves first.
i dont know why people have to be so rude in here. "use the damn search and etc" all we asking for is help, i know we have to use the "SEARCH" if you don't feel like helping someone, just shut up and dont say anything or be rude about it.

first, watch yr language please!
second, i took the liberty to edit yr post. looks better and the message remain the same.
third, sending you to search is help because it means that the solution of yr problem is here somewhere buried between all the posts (too many useless, but who is to blame?). when looking for it you'll usually read posts that you''l remember later when trying to solve other problems. search is good for you and yr diamond.
keep the forum clean ppl!

Very good points there KukurikU.
If the Diamond forum wasn't so full of posts which should be in the General forum then it would be easier to find Diamond specific answers.
And, like you said, while searching for an answer to a problem I've read other posts along the way which taught me things I never knew.

There is one thing i don't understand. This is you're first post so no one has send you to the search function. Maybe you have read a question from a poster with a certain history? Otherwise i don't get i why you register yourself to a forum and start a bad topic.

Hahahaha that's something I didn't notice... He's looking at other users being told to use search and sticking up for them? Lame.
Why did this discussion get started in the Diamond Forum in the first place. This is a general discussion and not related to the Diamond specifically and is yet itself another example of how specific forums get cluttered and why it can get difficult to find what you are looking for in a specific forum.

Dont answer the Q then and your time wont be wasted! Sometimes its hard to find the answer with the search function and even if you find the thread it could be 50-something pages long...
After some reading I came to find that you cannot dl paid apps if you root your phone. I would like to have the apps that I paid for. Is there anything like the iphone hacked phones where you can access the market?
With almost all of the recent ROMs you can download/access paid apps. That problem was fixed a loooooooonng time ago.
Wrong section, and if you would have done more reading you would have found that it is no longer a problem.

I find that basic reading and comprehension skills to be your main problem because it seems that your lack of these two key skills/superhuman abilities leads to you not being able to post this thread in the correct forum and not performing any type of search for an answer to your own question.
If we are able to solve these two of your presumed plethora of "issues" i believe that you'll live a better life etc. etc. etc...

Well, I hate to break it to you buddy, but this whole customization thing with the phones isnt a one stop shop. If you dont read, you're going to brick your phone. So since you have this all important life, and by implication, are too good to read up, perhaps you oughtta unroot until you have time to do things right, like maybe reading the sticky that says "dont post threads like this one in the freaking dev section".

eabod....
If it really takes you all day of reading just to understand your cell phone, then you do have a problem.
As said the new roms dont suffer the same fate as the older ones. You should be just fine.
XDA is the wrong place to ask questions, even in the correct forum. People overall here seem to have a attitude that they know it all, and were born that way..its almost like they just jump on the bashing bandwagon simply because its the "happening" thing to do. Mind you only a very few are able to build and release roms, customizations and so on the rest are moochers only they like to pretend they are something special.
If you search, generally you will find what your looking for eventually, sometimes not at all and sometimes you find it but its so buried by other crap you dont know you found it. I guess your best bet is to make damn sure you posted your question in the correct forum, then hope that someone deems you important enough to answer..or just search the countless pages and deprive the bashers of the reason most are here and dont ask...my how the post counts would fall...you see a question asked and its jump on em fellas, he asked a question..1 smart remarks not enough, they line up to leave replies that most have thought of days earlier...just waiting to use it instead of simply linking to the answer, giving an idea where it may be found or something...nah, just bash em, that makes this place look all the more better, a much more friendly environment lol, whatever.
I enjoy xda, but honestly some of you make for a truly elementary experience, while a few others do a lot more...you come here for the roms, mods, hacks, for most of us not the ones we did, we can do or the ones we had a hand in creating..and you cant take a minute or two to answer a few questions? Think of the work the actual devs have done, the time involved, the testing over and over...wanna help some? Answer peoples simple questions without being an ass! If nothing else link em to where they should go!
I disagree, everytime these questions pop up, they are usually answered in the first reply, if not the second one.
But for the most part, I think being an ass is just a way to keep these wrong threads to the minimal.
I've never seen someone being an ass when a member ask a question (doesn't matter related to the topic of not) at the end of a ROMs' thread.

I understand that, somewhat. But after his question was answered, do you see all the other people that posted, for no other reason then to try and belittle the guy that asked the question? Thats what I am referring to, those comments do nothing to help anyone, provide no use what so ever out side of making xda look like a buncha jerks.
Look at all the people that say its not helping by having questions in a release post, as it adds more to the dev having to sift over the comments, yet the " flashing now!" is just as off topic in reality as its not helping the dev know anything about any issues one may have..if people have to say "flashing now" then say I flashed, and heres what I found..see what I am saying?
Honestly people are going to be jerks on any forums, so it just comes with the territory. Usually you can avoid this by trying to learn some basic forum rules. Most are stickyed at the top of the forums. IMO use the search and spend like 15 to 20 mins to figure out what is going on in the forums. And then if your still stuck post in the Q&A forums.
The thing about this post that really roasts my goat is the OP lack of motivation to try and find his own answers. We are not his tech support and everybody here does this for free...Its disrespectful, insulting and lazy...
I have tons of respect for people that try to figure out problems for themselves first (search, google, read).
Please see this video [http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting] for proper forum etiquette. (I know, its old but its still damn funny and so true...)
@nickwinn does "eabod" really stand for what i think it stands for? if it does just mention something about the boondocks and i will know for sure

but of course! what else are we here for? to help with reasonably asked questions where the poster doesn't get a massive attitude problem? of course not, we must be here to answer everyone of joe blow's question and disregard any attitude he/she may get!!!! please search next time before posting such mess ThR1LL
i think my head just burst from so much sarcasm
Hey at least the op took the time to read a little bit maybe it was outdated but a least he did try, so cut the guy some slack, he did better than some other people who read nothing and come right to here and expect some hand holding
People like the OP are why this forum is getting worse, and to ducter if you really think we are all assholes why do you come here? If you ask a question in the wrong forum we will most likely give you ****, but also give you a little help. If you use the correct forum we will help you, unless your question is ssomething you could of found out in less then 5 minutes by searching.
This forum has 100's of thousands of members and if half of them are asking questions that have been answered hundreds of times it clogs the forum and we lose sight of other valuable posts or people with real questions about problems that are new and have not been solved.
Furthermore when someone says some **** like they don't have time to read about there cell phone then why are you here in the first place? Don't root your phone or better yet goto the tmobile store and ask them to help you fix your rooted G1. If you can't take the time to read like everyone else does/should then go buy a lg env or something and maybe it will be simple enough for you to figure out.
A stickied folder for Help and Troubleshooting for both apps and themes? Or each their own? Please be gentle. Since so many people are using different builds, just wondering.
lol guess not!
The problem is people don't use them. There are existing threads that were written to explain how to install, etc. You can go through any one of the rom threads and see the same questions asked over and over and over. I have stopped answering the blatant "I didn't even try to figure it out" kind of questions. You want to play with this stuff I feel you need to put in the effort to figure out how it works before you do something. And how to fix it when you inevitably break it. Freaking out when your tablet bootloops and then just asking the same stupid questions again, and again really does get annoying... The major issues that you can run into have been solved, and answered in numerous locations, numerous times. You just have to look for it!
That is done by reading! A lot of reading... I answer a lot of questions. But rarely ever ask one. Why? Because 9 times out of 10 the same question has already been answered. You just have to learn to use the search button at the top of the page.. Or search Google for the subject. This tablet is not really that much different from any Android phone and a lot of the info applies.
If you are not willing to try to help yourself maybe an Ipad is a better fit.
So, if you want to write an FAQ have fun. Maybe people will use it. But I wouldn't really get my hopes up that it will stop the people that won't read, are illiterate, lazy, whatever the excuse is from asking the same thing over, and over...
I agree with you 100%. I was just wondering if a mod could make a sub folder. But like you said I'm not sure everyone would use it. I appreciate the response.

Most of the questions I see that repeat are the questions where someone no longer has use of there tablet because it has bootlooped, or some other evil thing. So they must have had use of a PC to ask the question. I think it is more a lack of patience, OMG! my tablet is dead and the sky is going to fall kind of thing.
Take a breath, slow down for a minute. The world won't stop spinning because your tablet froze. Take some time and read! And like magic... The answer will likely pop up from a number of different threads.
I really do understand the mentality.. It is a part of life today. Instant gratification without having to put any effort into anything. Maybe it is just because I am older but I was raised in a generation where asking a question normally got answered with a question! Like did you look in the book? Did you try and figure it out for yourself? Did you do anything to help yourself before you asked the question? And then it may have been answered with a big slap in the head!
I have always tried to look at things as if I am stranded on an Island in the middle of the Ocean. The ONLY way to get off the Island is to figure out a solution.. And unbelievably every manual ever made just happens to be on that Island. Well, I'm gonna get off that Island. I'm going to take the time to read.
With the use of the elusive button we call "Search" you too can have every manual ever made! Or at least have most of your answers.. And you too can get off the Island!
I was more or less asking if those questions could be moved to an isolated area lol, I use the search function. But sometimes the meat can get covered up by the potatoes so to speak.
once again thank you for the quick reply.

I agree, for some reason on this site when I search I come up empty almost every time. Not sure what I am doing wrong, using MS Explorer. On some of the other forums I use the search function works fine.
