Keep in mind that flashing to a nonofficial rom voids your warranty. I am in no way responsible for any issues you may come across when attempting to update your rom. Please keep your questions about this rom in this thread, various users including myself can help you if needed. Please do not pm me with general questions about this rom or the mda, they would be better answered in the thread.

OS: 2.21.4.1

[ Description ]
I was going to wait until the AKU 2.2 update was released before cooking a new rom but I've grown impatient. This is the latest os rom available and while it doesn't add anything new feature wise I have changed some other things around for the better. The first thing I did was update the rom install process to automatically attempt to CID-UNLOCK the device and because of this change I have recompiled all of my current roms with the new installer. The second thing I did was go through ALL of the T-Mobile default customizations and cropped out only what was needed; I also cleaned out all of the other cabs used during the customization process. The third thing was creating a new set of registry tweaks to my liking. In the end, on a fresh boot the device has over 40MB of storage space available and over 25mb of memory free.
If you have issues upgrading to the 2.x roms I would advise downgrading to 1.08 first and then try installing 2.x roms again.

Enjoy!
just in case I would install a english ROM (german ones are usually quite late), could I change the keyboard language?

so what's so special about this ROM? Did they remove the stupid battery meter from where the date/time should be? I already like 2.17 even though the caller id doesn't show up on my BT headset as it did on my old JAM. Was it worth the upgrade?
Thanks for doing this!! I too have become anxious and would like to upgrade. I have been running the last custom rom you cooked and I have been happy with it thus far. However, as of recently I have been having the random phone resetting issue that has been discussed in various other threads.
Does your current custom rom address that issue, as well as put in the stereo BT fix?
Looking forward to doing the upgrade!!
Upgrade working great so far.
Upgrade!
I have a sickness. I have to apply updates when they come available. It is a strange compulsion. Am I alone? I actually love doing it.

I never had this issue but other users are reporting random bug fixes with this OS version so it may help.

Since I don't own a stereo bluetooth headset I didn't include it yet. It can be found on my site though under notused apps. ZokiA2DP.
xelencin - YOU ARE THE MAN ! ! !
thanks again for all the work ... I have been using your 2.17 ROM since the day I got my T-Mobile MDA flawlessly and I just saw you released a new one - I'm going to install it right now.
keep up the good work ...
Keyboard tweaked
Just installed this on a Qtek 9100 and now the keyboard is no longer mapping to what the silk screen on the key says it should be. Looks like there are some differences in key mappings between the MDA and the 9100. I did try switching it from USA English to UK English and then back to see if it was a Regional Setting error and there was no change. It is not huge differences, but large enough that when you are using the keyboard that you have to hunt around with the "alt" button until you find the right key you are looking for. The hyphen key now maps to the underscore when you press the alt key now- stuff like that. Will definitly want to be careful if you intend to install this on a 9100 or Kjam, I think.

Tmobile USA MDA
Hi,
I am new to this and have been reading the msgs on this forum for a few days now. I just got the new MDA they have available in the USA. I just DL :
T-Mobile_RUU_Wizard_2210401_221_20710_ENG_US.exe
I did not install this yet. Still am a bit confused
I know its stated that it will automaticly unlock the CID, but how about the SIM? Will it also unlock the SIM? If so I guess there is nothing else to do, as it will unlock both SIM and CID and then install the new ROM. If not how do I unlock the SIM?
Also another question I have is RING TONES!! tmo only has a handful of ring tones installed. I have some great ring tones that I have on my old phone. I want to transfer them to the MDA, but where would they be saved to on the MDA, and how would I select them?
Thank You in advance for everyones help.
FM
thanks for the new rom. Im a newbie here and i just used the lokowitz to unlock my o2 xda mini s.My question on this new rom is there a special way to run it or should i just copy it onto my mini s and just execute it. I already unlocked it and im using it for tmobile usa, just need to get the tmo rom. please advise.
xelencin, thanks as always.. i downloaded yesterday from here. Have to wait till after plumber comes and goes before i update...
Adding A2DP AVRCP
Xelecin:
Nice work as usual. I just barely flashed the 2.17. I was using the 2.8 Qtek Test ROM because of the A2DP and AVRCP. Can this be added to your ROM somehow?
Also, is it bad to flash the ROMs a few time?
Thanks in advance.
just dloaded it - and gonna give it a try...
cheers!
what is the difference between the rom's you upload to ftp
I have mda vario. I want to upgrade rom but I'm not sure that I know the right rom available. xelencin upload 3 rom to ftp server of xda-developers(ftp://xda-developers.com/Uploads/Wizard/Roms/xelencin/). I don't know what is the difference so I want to learn the correct rom for my mda vario. Thank you
Do the ipl, spl, radio and os all come from O2 UK ROM? (which is the fastest base ROM I have tried).
Many Thanks
Martin
clock and battery still in same place wtf gives?!?
I installed this ROM on my Wizard. The express reason I installed it was because the wi-fi was non-functional for me on the stock T-Mobile firmware. This firmware doesn't seem to work either in the wi-fi department for me. The Wizard detects my wireless network and I'm prompted to enter a key (I use just WEP encryption). I enter the key and it never seems to connect. I have entered the key numerous times to make sure I have it right to no avail. One time it did seem to make a connection with my wireless network but quickly disconnected. There are other devices on my wireless network so I know it's working. My wireless network is just a simple Netgeat 802.11b access point. This is getting really frustrating. I'm running out of idea on what to try and was hoping for some help here.
Hey,
I just flashed my friends MDA with this new firmware with the 2.21 custom and everything went fine except after its done and i rebooted it, i am getting "Data Crashes. Please contact your system provider" and where the start button is, SIMlock is being displayed. Is there something obvious that i have missed or whats going on? I have the MDA too, succesfully installed 2.17 a few weeks ago. Any ideas?
can you please help me with good wm06 rom,
what is the best working one?

There is no ONE right ROM for Trinity
Hi -
There is no one right ROM for Trinity. Here's a quick explanation for what a ROM really is. There are many people on this board who know more about ROMs than I do, so if anyone sees any errors in what I've written, please let me know.
A ROM is a collection of software packaged together that when flashed to your phone installs the software. ROM packages generally consist of four categories of software:
1.) An operating system (some flavor of Windows Mobile, 5 or 6)
2.) Radio software (Radio ROM)
3.) Phone software (Dialer, Task Manager, Multimedia, SMS/MMS software, contact list)
4.) All other software (Adobe Reader, TomTom, etc.)
People create new ROM packages by gathering an operating system, a radio, and a collection of software, and "cooking" them into a single distribution file, usually in the form of a CAB compression file.
Some important notes on ROM packages:
1.) Any software that is "cooked" into the ROM can't be removed or updated, it's in there permanently until you change your ROM. This is something to consider if you want to be able to upgrade to future versions, and is the reaosn many ROM cookers also make a "lite" version of their ROM.
2.) I'm pretty weak on this, but from what I understand in addition to the normal physical ROM memory, there is a section of physical ROM called "hidden" or "extended" ROM, and the cookers have figured out how to make that ROM available for use. This is why some ROMs show 70+ megs of ROM/RAM available. I think this extended ROM can also be used to store software.
3.) The operating systems (OS's) do continue to change. People get new phones from their telecom operator, and when they dissassemble the phone's ROM, they can extract the new OS's and check the version numbers. There is no way I know of currently to update the OS without flashing a completely new ROM. Different ROMs include different versions of the operating system, although many of the ROM cookers are quick to re-release their ROMs when a new OS comes out.
4.) Any software that can be installed manually can be installed in a ROM. This includes "trial" or "unregistered" versions. For that software, it may be installed on your phone when you install the ROM, but it is a limited-use version and you will need to purchase the software and get a registration code to unlock the full software. If the software is "cooked" into your ROM and you decide not to use it, YOU CAN'T UNINSTALL IT without reflashing to a new ROM. It won't do any harm, but it will use up memory that could be put to better use.
5.) A suggestion on other software: If you flash your OS often, it makes things easier to keep copies of the CAB files for your favorite other cab installations on your SD card, so you can easily reinstall them when you reflash the OS.
6.) Most of the ROMs use the same installer software, which works well and can recover from some errors (just follow the instructions or if no instructions retry the flash procedure). However, some telecom operators install something called a Service Provider Lock (SPL) to prevent people from installing "unapproved" software on their phone. Removing or otherwise getting around this SPL is a process called "unlocking" - if you try to reflash your phone's ROM, and something goes wrong, this SPL could prevent you from being able to fix your phone, making it useless (or "bricked"). There are software packages that should be able to fix a bricked phone (search the board to find), but it is easier to remove the SPL first, so you never have to worry about crashing your phone.
7.) If you remove your SPL, you have technically violated the terms of your contract with your service provider!!!! In daily use, it really doesn't affect them, so they probably won't make a stink about it, and probably can't tell you've done so. But, if you bring it in for service, send it in under warranty, call their service line to get support, the technician will probably see you have removed your SPL, and can refuse to provide service or warranty support. However, the techs are people and depending on the issue may or may not make a big deal about it, but it's certainly within their right to refuse to service for free.
8.) There are differences in telecom providers!!! This is particularly important with respect to Radio ROMs. If you think about it, your phone has to send the right signals to your service provider's radio tower to make a call. The specific information it has to send and the manner in which it sends it are determined by the radio protocol, which is built into the radio software. As a result, some radio software will not work with some providers, and some will work better than others. This difference willbe regional, so consider where you will be using the phone (Asia, Europe, SA, Africa, NA). Some radios could even be configured to specific providers (but I don't know for sure).
9.) Latest vs. most stable - sometimes, the latest versions introduce new bugsor are less stable than others, so consider this as well.
10.) Most of the differences between the ROMs seem to revolve aroudn the cooker's choices for phone software - the dialers, the contact managers, etc. These primarily change the "look and feel" of the phone rather than the raw performance or capabilites. Since look and feel is the big difference, it's impossible to say which look and feel everyone will like - it's a matter of taste / personal preference.
11.) Don't bug the cookers!!!! The people cooking ROMs for us are doing it in their spare time. They're not getting paid to do it, they're just trying to help each other out. While they seem to be interested in hearing about bugs so they can fix their ROMs, pestering them with requests to make some piddly change just for you is rude. Don't pester them with change requests and customizations, and then throw a hissy fit when they don't want to do it your way. If you don't like their ROM, then cook your own.
So, to pick the ROM that works for you, you're probably going to have to try a few out. The combination of OS and Radio will likely be regional (some will not be able to use the latest radio, for example), and form there on in you have to choose which has the dialer/contact manager you like the most, and includes the software you want to have (or go with a lite version).
Good luck!
Mike

Dear all Kaiser anchestor,
I have a problem with my Kaiser. I really hope that all of you can help me. Ok? Please....
This is the problem :
At the begining, My HTC Kaiser run so slowly, sometimes freezing (Condition WM 6.1 with it's SPL 1.56)
After I read the same problem in jockyw2001 thread, then I tried to flash My device SPL to 3.28 (with the step in front of that thread and the SPL from that thread too)
Flashing the SPL to 3.28 was successfully and my device run fast now
BUT!!! I can't Enabled my WiFi!
Next, I tried to Re-Flash my SPL to 1.56 again, and it's done successfully. But, the WiFi still can't be enable.
Next step, I tried to downgrade the ROM to WM 6, and WHAT!
I still can't Enable my WiFi!
Now, I'd upgrade to WM6.1 again (official ROM from HTC website). But, the WiFi still can't be enable.
The condition when I enable the WiFi is loading then turn off by itself. What's the problem?
I really need all of your help for this.
This is my Device Information:
ROM Version :3.29.707.0 WWE
ROM Date : 05\07\08
Radio Version :1.65.16.25
Protocol Version : 25.83.40.02H
After upgrade to WM6.1, My Bootloader now is:
KAIS130
SPL-3.29.0000
CPLD-8
I'm stress already. Hope all you may spare some of your time for help me to solve the problem. Thanks before. For more detail, just watch the video that I record when tried to enable the wifi.

Since you're interested in running the official HTC WM 6.1 version on your TyTN II then why not simply run the HTC Upgrade program which will reinstall everything required (SPL, Radio and ROM) in one easy go rather than have to upgrade this and that, bit by bit? If you have an official TyTN II you can get it from HTCs e-Club/Support or you can also download it from the XDA Kaiser Wiki ROM page. Note that my SPL is 3.28.0000 and thats all through the official upgrade path so maybe your SPL has something to do with it? See if the official upgrade installs on your device otherwise you'll have to revert to the correct SPL before trying again. Note that the newest WWE ROM upgrade now also comes with a (slightly) better radio as in my sig. Remember to take your sim and memory cards out before attempting the flash.
***Edit*** Just realised you're running the SEA rather than WWE HTC ROM I'm using so yes 3.29 looks to be the right SPL for your ROM, the rest still applies though.
Hmm...
Sorry Mr Flying Kiwi, I think you didn't read the message completely. I've already re-flash from OFFICIAL ROM WM6.1 from HTC e-Club. But, the same problem. It's not fix yet. I've reflash over than 5 times, downgrade to WM6 over than 2 times. an the result is the same. My WiFi Cannot be enable. I hope you can play the video that i record from the links up there (440kb only), so you will know my problem.
Thanks for your reply Boss!

I read it alright but as you've not done it *using the officially supplied HTC upgrade package (not just the ROM file within it from HTC e-Club)* I reccomend you give that a try. No special hard spl version is reqd and as long as you have an official ROM to start with and you're upgrading or reinstalling the same ROM version, it's simply a case of running one file and following the instructions. Once you've got the reflash to run that way and completed the process, simply hard reset and then test your Wifi before installing anything further.

Perhaps the capturing program over Activesync may be interfering with things (but I did view your wmv). What I am sure of is that if you have the correct ROM matched to your device and correctly installed with the right spl and radio, Wifi should work fine. Running the official upgrade is the easiest way to get this but if there is something non-official about your current setup, the upgrade program may refuse to run. Let us know if that happens. It's clear that you didn't do this in the beginning because you ended up with the wrong spl version for your rom so it's time to do it the official 'HTC Customer' way.
Hahaha.... thanks for your information. I'd tried yesterday. And still no response. ugh.... Btw, I've read from another thread (Athena). They said that someone ever got a problem like this. The cause is the WiFi MAC Address is missing/erased? Is it possible? I thought that MAC Address is a serial number of WiFi such as an IP, where saved in WiFi chip/device and cannot be erase. If do so, how to set an MAC address to the WiFi module? Do you have an idea? I'd tried to have a silly search about that address in Registry, but I cannot find any key that sounds about MAC Address. (Mac Gyver maybe?)

I was offering serious advice not pulling your leg. Now, when you say 'still no response yet' - precisely what do you mean (exactly what did you try and what happened)? I've flashed my Kaisers ROM a couple of times now using HTC official ROM upgrading packages and it's gone perfectly fine. As far as the MAC address goes, I know there are ways of changing it (because there is an extremely small possibility that you may end up with two identical MAC adresses on the same network and this will cause problems) but this won't be the culprit in your case. I think (again) the first thing to do is to use the official package (and only that - no additional tools/utilities are reqd) to get everything in order and let us know how that goes and what versions of everything you end up with.
This is the information that appears in my device now after re-upgrade the official ROM from HTC e-Club:
File name : RUU_Kaiser_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.29.707.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship.exe
KAIS130
SPL-3.29.0000
CPLD-8
ROM version : 3.29.707.0 WWE
ROM date : 05/07/08
Radio version : 1.65.16.25
Protocol version : 25.83.40.02H
Btw, may i ask a question? I found something strange about a MAC address. Yesterday I'm not intention open the "Wireless LAN" from Settings > Connections > Wireless LAN
In Advance tab, there are Status, MAC, and IP. My Question is is the MAC address serial appears even you didn't enable a WiFi? In my device it's empty.
Btw, bro... I've been search a problem like this in this website. I've found the same problem in Athena thread. They said that the MAC address is missing, but some one make a fix but only for Athena.
this their URL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387454&highlight=Athena+WiFi+Problem&page=5
Thanks & sorry if i waste your time in solving my wifi problem

That looks right to me but if you haven't yet ran the upgrade file above to flash to ROM you need to do it the official way and try that. If Wifi is still behaving as in your video do a hard reset and try again (before loading any additional software).

In mine it's empty too but if you go back in after enabling Wifi, theres a MAC address in there. I really don't think your problem has anything to do with the MAC address but if you've tried all of the above and still can't get it working, as you appear to have an official setup, it's time to contact Tech support and get them to go through some checks over the phone with you. Maybe someone else has thoughts on this......
Hahaha... thanks. Btw, I have another problems.
I bought this device from other country (Singapore). My friends said, the Singapore HTC can view the device history. They can see if the device already being flash how many times and anything unofficial program such as SPL or radio, then the warranty wil be void. Because, my friends already have such a problem also with his device Dopod U1000 (Even he revert to his original SPL or radio).
I think i should throw this device or sell it out and buy the new one. Hiks...

I really don't think your problem has anything to do with the MAC address but if you've tried all of the above and still can't get it working, as you appear to have an official setup, it's time to contact Tech support and get them to go through some checks over the phone with you. Maybe someone else has thoughts on this......

Doesn't it make sense to at least try what's been suggested first? What have you to loose? The hardware company have no need to know what 'ROM Action' has occurred in the past and who knows what any people you've leant your TyTN II to may have done with it..... They only need to know how it is now and whether it's currently official (ie flashed using the HTC upgrader).

The same problem
Im having the same problem... my wi-fi do not turns on! I have flashed this a lot of times, and sometimes works, sometimes dont.
Does anyone have any ideia about this? im stressed becouse i have the same problem... could anyone tellme a good radio in order to try to solve this issue? thanks
Wi-Fi issues
This has worked for me, dont know if its the same case with you or not.
My device was never able to connect to my Wifi n/w at home. If I went to start -> setting -> connections -> Wifi, it would show my home n/w as available, when I tried to connect to it, the status changed from Available to "connecting" then became available again.
In my home n/w I had access type authentication as WEP keys + Mac address filtering. My device was added to the MAC address list so that was not a problem. The issue was access point authentication which was set to WEP keys type authentication on my router. Once I changed from WEP keys to WPA-PSK (data encryption type TKIP) my WM was able to connect to the router.
I have HTC tytn II and its wifi is not searching any other wifi devices or router even in very close range , but wifi is turning on and the green light is also blinking
So, is there a hardware problem?
I did 3.29 hard spl , hard reset ,hard spl 3.34 , but the result is same.
and in network adapters IEEE 802.1b/g goes down and down in the list of network adapters , please HELP.! and sorry for my bad english

Currently the Radio Version is 1.70.18.02
before this Radio Version I had 1.65.*.*
Hi all - I have had nothing but nightmares with my Shift's WiFi...as a final attempt to resolve the issue I am going to reinstall the original ROM. Now in theory this should have nil impact on the WiFi chip, but frnkly, it's the only thing I haven't tried (and it did work out of the box....)....
So if someone is kind enough to take a back up of their appropriate ROM I would be very grateful (message me and I'll provide an email).
Thanks in advance.
Just so it is clear, I need a non updated BIOS please...not the new one on the HTC site.,..thanks
I am trying to get the cool 4 shortcut buttons and was directed to something called Cookies Home Tab. I installed it but no program showed up.
I would then try and uninstall it an install it again with sense deactivated, but when choosing uninstall on the program (which shows up on the "remove program" menu, but not in the start menu) the "busy-cursor" is just rotating and nothing happens. I tried powering off and try again, and the same thing happens: It says its uninstalling, but it takes forever and nothing happends.
Can someone help? How do I get the program properly installed. I am running a danish original rom and assumed it would be compatible when directed there. I am not sure where to find my sense version. Can it be that its 2.16xxxxx or is that windows?

If you cannot find your manila version, or at least search on how to find it, you really need to learn more before you mess up your phone.
I assume you did a hard reset after your registry issue. If not I suggest you do as you will probably have to do it a few times as you attempt to customize your device.
Your manila version can be found in Settings\Device Info\Software Info.
Read the thread on Cookies Home tab for compatable versions and install instructions. Post your questions there.
p.s. Thanks for implying...
I am really sorry for sounding like a total noob, but I DID read the post, installation instructions and whats not. I also read the "how to find your manila version" which also said to go to settings tab - device info - software info. The thing is that its danish on my phone and I cant find anything called device info on my tab, only "about" which leads me to a webpage with a lot of copyright and legal mumble jumble.
When going to settings - advanced - about the device I get a tab called version, where it says Rom Version 2.16.403.1 (67041) dan. But I dont know if thats it.
But lord, how many original stock roms can there be? Its a pretty new phone and I installed every HTC update available to me. I must say that configuring this little diamond seems to take a rocket scientist or above. I can use a computer pretty well, but getting a little modifications to the HTC UI seems to take a phd
You seem like a nice guy, and I would like to learn. Maybe you can help me out so I dont have to ask so many noobish questions. I really tried to learn by myself but it is a new world to me and it is quite overwhelming.
1) I read that installing a rom is ireversible. Does that really mean that I under no circumstances can replace the original software? Is a cooked rom really a whole other OS and replace windows mobile 6.5 completely? Or is it just a modified windows?
2) What is the distinction between HTC Sense, Touch Flo and Manila, if any? As far as I read the black and white icons is manila and the colored ones is sense... Is that true? And does that mean that I cant use any programs that needs manila to run if I have the HTC Ui with the colored icons?
I hope the above questions helps me to a basic understanding, so I further on dont have to ask so many questions.
PS) after installing TD2 tools my screen rotation line in my system registry came back, and I got rid of the landscape.. Thats one problem solved. Call recording aswell. If I find a way to get these 4 shortcut-buttons available and set one of them to my to-do list I think Im done.. No more tampering.. I promise.

1) What exactly is the difference between installing Cookies Home tab and installing another rom? As I understand it, a rom is a whole other OS, where this software only is a skin? Correct?
Correct, The ROM is the whole OS, where CHT is a modification to the Sense (Manila) UI.
2) I read that installing a rom is ireversible. Does that really mean that I under no circumstances can replace the original software?
No, You must first install hard SPL to be able to flash a cooked(custom) ROM.
Once you install HSPL, your device is considered "out of warranty".
However you can reflash a Stock ROM and then reflash Stock SPL to return the phone to the factory state for warranty purposes. So it can be reverted.
3) What is the distinction between HTC Sense and Manila, if any?
They are one and the same, also referred to as Touch Flo 3D (TF3D)
4) The original question about getting Cookie to work, if someone feels like helping.
If you have installed Cookie's Home Tab and soft reset, when you are on your home screen you should see the flip clock (assuming that in Settings\System\Home\Items is set to HTC Sense), on top right of that is a little dash, this opens up additional panels for your shortcuts.
There should also be a new program possibly in settings or \Programs\Tools called CHTEditor to access your tab settings.
I suspect that it installed, you just didn't know how to access it.
Lemme know.

See above for answers. One quick word of advice; If the program interfaces with your today screen, phone functions, etc. install to device memory and never to Storage Card. Programs that just tweak the registry and settings can be installed to SD card.
Uhm, and I wouldn't be promising anything because its addicting. Once you pop, you can't stop!
Sorry.. I edited my post while you were answering. I found the preguide to roms which was just about basic enough to enlighten me. Your answers helped a lot to, and everything fell into place.
I do think that I will stay away from flashing as it seems like risky business.. The option to hard-reset without to much hassle seems like the emergency brake I like available to me
At the moment I am trying to reinstall Cookies Home Tab, but the installation just hangs.. Probably because it wasnt uninstalled correctly. Any tips other than Hard Resetting which means several hours of setup
Edit: Ahh f... it.. I may aswell do it.. All the tampering made my phone slow anyway.. Now I know what I need and can get it to work without too much experimenting..
Thanks dude.
I did some research on your stock ROM and it looks like you are running Manila 2.1 which is the older version so many tweaks you are attempting may be for 2.5.
You would be better off changing ROMs.
Here is a download of our stock ROM for warranty purposes, keep it just in case. You may have to register for the site, but you may also find a nice cooked ROM in your language on that site. Dutty is a great chef and I use his ROMs because of their stability.
I can attempt to walk you through HSPL, but there have been many issues lately. Almost seems like the only way to get it to work is to "donate" to the developer.
Okay Mr Dope Pusher.. i see where you are going.. Telling me to stay away from these sheningans and 1 hour later you got me hooked anyway
Jokes aside.. Yes.. I Do think I am gonna need some help here.. While the stock backup rom is downloading I will try and find out for myself, but I would very much like some confirmation on what to do before I take the leap.. Stay tuned and thank you very much.. Your help is very appriciated.
I have a question though.. Now I downloaded the stock rom, but what if my phone breaks when Duttys Rom is installed.. Then I wont be able to reinstall the original rom before sending it in for repair. And then Im screwed warranty wise, right?
..., in anticipation of your next question;
As long as you have over 50% battery and do not interupt the flash (unplug the USB) there are very few chances of it bricking.
I have never had it happen and most errors are correctable with a hard reset. It really sounds worse than it is.
Most devices get bricked because the user attempts to flash a cooked ROM w/o HSPL or a ROM or radio from another device.
I have attached 3 files.
Do the following after you download these files;
1. Remove your SIM and SD card.
2. Sync your device to your PC through Active Sync or WMDC depending on your windows version.
2. Copy the enablenewrapi.cab to your device through file explorer and install
to device memory.
3. Open both the SPL 1.83 and the RUU zip files and place contents of both into a new folder.
4. Run the RUU.exe and you should see a progress screen appear.
5. With any luck, you won't get stuck at 0% and the flash will complete.
As the screen states, it may take up to 10 minutes. You will see your device disconnect from active sync, which is normal. Let it run until it completes and do not open anything or let your PC go into standby. Also, you may want to disable your AV and any firewalls as these can mess with the installation.
Make sure you have greater than 50% battery before you attempt this as any interuption during the flashing process can brick your device.
If the steps above complete, you can go into bootloader mode by holding down both volume keys right after you hit the soft reset buton, but before the device begins to boot. You may have to try a couple of times if you are not fast enough. Or you can power off the device then hold both volume keys and press the power button. In bootloader mode which is a tri colored screen, you should see SPL: 1.83.Olinex, then you will know it has installed correctly.
From this point, you are able to flash any cooked Topaz ROM.
The ROM flashing process is the same as HSPL in regards to placing the ROM's .nbh file into the same folder as the custom RUU.exe, so keep that RUU.exe file for future use.
You need only flash HSPL once to continue to flash as many ROMS as you like.
If you ever have to revert to stock, you would install the ROM you downloaded, then find the StockSPL file from the HSPL thread and follow the instructions.
Always hard reset after you flash a new ROM.
**If you are not successful in flashing HSPL, you will need to go to the HSPL thread and read up on opening a ticket with HTC Support, which will give you an autoinstaller that will work once you donate through the program. I believe they are asking for 4gbp.
Ok.. And one of the above files is the Dutty Rom? Edit: Oh I se.. It isnt.. I will download it then..
Will it look and feel similar to Sense, just with more features and customisation options?
You write: Most devices get bricked because the user attempts to flash a cooked ROM w/o HSPL or a ROM or radio from another device.
Can you please elaborate? I understand it like you need to make sure I install the hspl first before cooking, but "radio" from another device. Please explain it for a dummy as me, so I dont attempt to do it by accident.

No, I have not provided you with a ROM, just the HSPL unlocker.
You can go to HTCPedia and search for a Danish ROM with manila 2.5, or take a look through the ROM development thread and find one from another chef. It should have Sense installed but 2.5 unless it states otherwise. 2.5 has more features and functions and is the most current.
Many ROMs are multilanguage so I believe you select your region language when the ROM first loads. Just look for one that supports DAN. I use WWE (World Wide English) so I am not experienced with multilanguage variations.
Just make sure your HSPL is successful before you attempt to flash a ROM.
If you search hard enough you may even find a ROM with CHT cooked in which will alleviate you from having to install it yourself, but I suspect that your previous install didn't work because your on Sense 2.1
I have never used CHT, but use Max Manila Themes which is just a different mod, but I am thinking about trying CHT.
I'll take a look and see what I can find.
Regarding Radios;
A stock ROM comes with the OS and Radio ROM.
Most cooked ROMs take just the OS and tweak it for best performance, adding programs, removing other useless programs and do not include the radio ROM, therefore you will still have your stock Radio unless you flash a cooked ROM that has included the radio (usually denoted in the title of the ROM by the radio#, i.e. 4.49.25.57 (which is a Topaz radio version)
The only time you can brick is you attempt to install a radio from another device (sometimes they work better) such as a Blackstone radio to a Topaz device unless your SIM is unlocked or attempting to flash a Topaz radio w/o HSPL.
Personally, there are enough Topaz radios posted in the radio thread that I don't need my SIM unlocked to try others.
Symptoms of a problem radio are poor signal strength, rapid battery loss and your device heating up.
I have switched my radio ROM a few times but honestly haven't noticed a difference from my stock radio.
The stock ROM you downloaded would replace your Stock Radio if you happen to flash to a different one.
Your region and carrier are also a factor in choosing a radio, so again, just stick to stock unless you have issues.
Dude.. I am extremely afraid of choosing something that will brick my system, so please, please help me through this, even though you already have been extremely helpful.

But to be honest I dont know if it will work on my device or if I will be able to get it with a danish language pack..
Please help me choose the right one.... I am ready to rock, so I hope for a quick reply, and I promise I will do a extra good deed tomorrow to repay the world for all the help you gave me tonight.

Don't sweat it Bro, if its posted as a Topaz ROM then its got the Topaz Radio, the only thing you risk is not being able to connect to certain 3G bands.
I've used Dutty's R-8 and its not a bad ROM, but its a little outdated and I didn't see that it had multi language support.
I am really having a hard time locating a Danish language ROM.
I find FRE. GER, ITA, ESN, NLD, WWE, but no DAN????
"I am really having a hard time locating a Danish language ROM.
I find FRE. GER, ITA, ESN, NLD, WWE, but no DAN????"
Then it aint just me being total clueless.. I cant find any either..
Im bafled by this world.. I basically have two modest demands: To record calls in mp3 and get easy access to my to-do list.. preferably on my homescreen, but just as good by one of the nifty Hotbuttons Ive seen in pictures..
To get those two modest demands fulfilled I either:
- Need to give up on my danish interface and crack my phone beyond warranty and a chance of bricking it.
- Disable HTC sense and go with WM interface
I know how limited I would be with any other phone, but this road I got myself on is really amazing

I found some Danish support threads, just search Danish Topaz in XDA and you may find something to load over a WWE rom.
Personnaly I think you will be disappointed if you do not take the plunge.
I had a Rhodium before my Topaz and once I go tmy Topaz, I couldn't stand it. It wouldn't do half the **** my Rhodium did. Because I had my Rhodium flashed to custom.
Finally HSPL was released and I flashed it immediately and can't believe I ever liked that other brick of a phone.
Take your time, get comfy with the process first, and read lots on the language packs.
The brick warning is just a disclaimer and it is very difficult to achieve if you follow the steps correctly.
I know these are expensive toys to take a chance on, but they really are only at 50% capacity out of the box. What a waste....

Just trying to give a little back.

I agree.. The helpfulnes here has been overwhelming, and has given me the bravery to try this out. But I am still very nervous.
Let me sum up what I learned from tonight.
1) When following your instructions I will have a phone which I can modify with custom roms.
2) As long as I am 100 % sure the rom is for Topaz I dont have to worry about messing up and bricking my phone due to doing wrong stuff to the radio-thingie? (yes, I still dont understand what that is)
3) I will be able to get back to factory defaults and warranty by installing the official rom you linked and afterwards install the original spl thingie afterwards?
4) Should I mess up and brick my phone, there is a fair chance of being able to restore it by the help of another device and a micro SD-card? (See I DO try and learn myself.. (Its probably incorrect though ))
5) I need to give up on the danish interface, but I will without too much hassle be able to get a danish keyboard?
6) To be absolutely sure not choosing a wrong ROM, please confirm this one as a possible choice: "Duttys Topaz HG R10 [5.2.23541.5.5.0]"
It is downloading and I am ready to take the leap... Geronimoooo!
