For some reason when I go to, start/settings/sound & notifications/notifications/incoming text alert and select an alert it does not work. When I go back I find the check box to be simply unchecked.
I do know the sound file works per the little test box, but why does it keep unchecking its self?
Any ideas?

Is it possible to disable the "beep" sound you hear everytime you send a sms and get the notification box?
The box itself I dont mind, but the "beep" sound is really annoying
Got it
Create a "NoSound.wav" file and place it in \Windows of ppc.
In phone registry go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default
there change entry "Wave" to "\Windows\NoSound.wav"
Done

You can set this in: settings - sound¬ification i guess.
Or use Sktools.

HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default : Options change value to 8

Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications>Notifications...Click on the Events drop down menu and go to your Messaging alerts and and uncheck Play Sounds. Do it for each notification you don't want sounds played for
is it possible to disable notifications. it is pretty annoying to be typing a text or email and have a notification pop up in your way. Also, is it possible to disable the gprs/edge connection window that pops up when the phone is connecting to the edge network or in wifi when it connects to another network?
Go to Settings/Personal/Sound&Notification/Notification tab
Choose each and every one and uncheck the box saying "Display message on screen". I'm not responsible for what you can miss (i'm not sure if you will get the icon in the top task bar any more for new sms for example)
Hope it helps,

About the dialog with connectivity, unchecking the box for "Conection established" will take care of it (i also did this now, seems a good idea)
man i'm an idiot. just showing off what a noob i am i guess. thanks a ton. you guys rock!
how come i disabled the notification & the sound for the voicemail and i still get the text notification?
Hmmm, try unchecking all boxes for voicemail. btw: maybe it's a msg sent by your carrier, which you could disable in phone settings (i think) or call them to make them stop !
I can't test this 'cause i never had any voicemail on any of my phones... i always disable this with my carrier
I am notifications of my servers and switches sent to me via sms message. under sounds and notifications for a new text message i select the sound i want but the "repeat" box is greyed out. i would like to enable this since i may not hear the first sms alert (like when i am sleeping). under the event catagory of reminders i can select repeat but not under new text message. any ideas? is it a reg change i can make?
thanks!

I have the same request, looked around in the registry but can't find a setting for it. Can anyone suggest a solution?
I have the same role fella, the only way I found was through a piece of software called SPB Phone Suit, you can get it to repeat a sound every 5 mins, 10 mins whatever for missed/unread calls and SMS.
I have tried everything! Sounds & Notifications. Sound on, off, vibrate. When I receive a new text message my phone will not vibrate. It will vibrate for a phone call or any other notification, but not a text message.
Any help please?
Just to verify, you did go to Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications (tab at the bottom), select "Messaging: New text message" in the "Event:" drop-down list, and select the box that says "vibrate"? If yes, do you have any other sms software installed that may be overriding the WM vibrate instruction?
What program did you install?
Mine won't either, ever since I installed the threaded messaging (palm) app. I dunno how to get it to notify me that I have a new text message, either.
Does it vibrate when you click on the inbox?

Did you go into notifications and choose specifically the incoming message that says Palm in it??

did you by any chance disabled the threaded sms?...if yes then use the latest kaiser tweaks xml file and change it again...you will get back your vibration and sound
hello,
i have exactlythe same problem, it wont vibrate when i receive a text message, but it vibrates when i get a call or whatever. if i set the notification on a sound it will play that sound whenever i get a message.
i got the newest rom version and i have kaiser tweak installed.
I hope somebody can help me.
I've lost the incoming text sound on my tilt. Any ideas how I can get it back? Where are the settings for this?
you need to click start-settings-sounds & notifications-notifications tab and scroll down to incoming text messages.
And if that looks fine?
I have the same issue... incoming calls fire off just fine but my sms notifications don't make a sound.
Well, only thing I think caused it for me (found TONS of other people that found other sollutions.) was to re-enable my threaded sms'ing from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3619555#post3619555 Then I disabled it via Advanced Config instead of the cab file.
Not sure what difference it is but it did start working.... we shall see.
