Hi, i've a brand new Liquid with Acer_Liquid_2.000.16_EMEA_GEN1 installed.
Tried to use my WPA2-TKIP at home, perfect.
Tried to use my WPA-EAP at work, no success.
I correctly installed certificate from web browser (now it appears under "CA Certificate").
I've theese four fields (translated from italian to english):
- Private Key Password
- Identity
- Anonymous Identity
- Wireless Password
I know i've to issue my username and password for authenticating with Domain Controller, but which of that fileds are to fill in ?
Wi-fi connection works flawless with Nokia E51 (what a shame...) with 802.1x protection, EAP-PEAP.
I've already read other forums, they suggest to root the phone to gain access to wpa_supplicant.conf. I would prefer not to do it in the first days.
Have any suggestions ?
Thank you, bye.

Hi
Just purchased a Kaiser and loving it!
I am new to windows mobile and trying to SSH into one of my work servers.
I have purchased PocketTY and copied my SSH2 key on to my device. I have setup a VPN in the connections settings.
How on earth do I make PocketTY connect via 3G and dial my VPN to access the server? I cannot find any docs this at all. Do I need a VPN client and if so which one should I get.
Thanks
bump
Does no one really know how to do this?
Thanks
Try PocketPutty, works a treat for me and it's free........
I think that it depends on what type of vpn you're using. Me for example I use Open VPN and therefore I had to use openvpn client on my kaiser (and I'm very happy that there is one). I also think that in your case is the vpn that isn't working properly yet. Let me know what vpn link do you have and I'll try to help you
Hey guys and girls,
I am am about to give up on my search for a working, cisco compatible, VPN client for Windows Mobile 6 on my Kaiser.
After some research I found out that one of the following clients should work with Cisco networks: MovianVPN, BluefireVPN and AnthaVPN.
Got myself a copy of each software, but none works.
MovianVPN v4.01 - most promissing, cause Cisco profiles can be directly importet. but it seems to be only for WinMo2003. Installations works without problems, but afterwards you can't start the client.
BluefireVPN v2.1.1 - installation doesn't even work
AnthaVPN v7.5 - installation without problems, client runs without problems, but: after installation the Kaiser can't establish a w-lan connetion anymore (not at all! even when Antha isn't running) Antha installs an own weird w-lan driver, which seems to mess things up
Please! I am close to madness. There must be someone out there wo knows a way how to connect to Cisco VPN with the Kaiser!
Thanks for any helpfull answer in advance!
regards,
cartonneexpress
NCP Secure
Hi,
I have used NCP secure to connect to a cisco VPN, here are a few links:
Compatability List: http://english.cyprotect.com/main0182.php(check for kaiser, it's mentioned somewhere)
NCP Secure Link: http://www.ncp.de/en.html
Hope this helps...
AnthaVPN support - nice try... but, ...nope
AnthaVPN support just sent me the following:
>>
Check this option from a forum:
After installing anthaVPN and change the registry entro from "2" -> "1" WIFI works correct.
HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\HTCPowermode=1
<<
I looked at the registry, but had to find out that this entry was already set to "1" at my device.
it sounded so promising...
NCP Security Client...
Hey Reaper,
thanks for the advice! Installation of NCP was no problem. Everything seems to work fine afterwards.
But I have some trouble converting my Cisco profiles to NCP. NCP doesn't accept /convert the Cisco profiles (.pcf). I tried to create a new NCP profile with the information I got out of the Cisco ones. This is all the information that was in there:
Host
GroupName
GroupPWD
(after connection Cisco asks me for my personal login name and pwd)
I tried to bring these informations into a NCP profile, but it didn't work. Can you tell me how I must create the NCP profile?
Thanks,
cartonneexpress
By the way, I'm still open for other suggestions! Especially how to get MovianVPN working. Cause I could use the existing .pcf profile with it! Isn't there a coder out there who knows how to get a WinMo2003 programm running on 6.1?
ok,
this is gonna be a little description and a question at once.
i've tried to get a cisco vpn client to run on the diamond. at first, i tried athenaVPN, which works really good, but it installs automatically a firewall-app next to the vpn client. this FW is started automatically at windows startup, no chance to get this off. after that, i tried to use bluefire vpn. it took a lot of time to get this running, but now it works, but it slows down the whole system. i don't appriciate this. so the question is...is there another simple cisco-vpn client out i've not seen before, because the other two applications have too many disadvantages. thanks a lot,
earp
I also would be interested in any cisco vpn solution, that works...
Did you guys ever find anything?
OpenVPN
If it interests anyone, I've used OpenVPN for a while, and it works great, at least on my KS20.
It's open source and it's not so difficult to install and configure, but admittedly it doesn't work with a Cisco VPN. As SFR in France blocks all ports but 80 and 8080, it allowed me to use MSN and other communication applications (too much lag for Skype) and access my shared files...
You can get it here
I've been looking into this too - we use Cisco AnyConnect VPN at work and it'd be nice to see whether it's available on the HTC.
I'd also be so happy if one of us can find a problemless vpn client. I hate logging in as a guest user everytime to my network.
I have tried Bluefire VPN with success. I had only .pcf file and here is not VPN client on PDA to use with. If you use group password, you have to ask your admin about cleartext password and then you can use VPN for example to your Cisco 3000 VPN concentrator.
You may want to take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356489
Please its any solution for WM6.5 PEAP authentication without server certificate validation. Because trick with add \HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25\ValidateServerCert=dwo rd:00000000 in registry is not working for windows mobile 6.5. Thanks
Working on HD2
Hi,
I finally got it working on my HD2... not only I needed to add the key here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\EAP\Extension\25]
but also here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\EAP\Extension\26]
25 is for PEAP, 26 is for MSV2-Challenge so I guess it falls back to the latter one if the first one fails? Anyways, it works for me now, hope it works for you to

Hi, I also use HTC HD2, my university network use PEAP with EAP-GenericTokenCard and a certificate like that rootca.cer (here (http: / / www .hs-fulda.de/index.php?id=6792&L=1&F=http%253A.) is the guide link to connect the network using Odyssey Access Client, I don't have permission to add a link so please remove space to get the real link, thank). I tried to add the ...\25\ValidateServerCert Dword = 0 and connect to the network but cannot success. Could you tell me detail how can you connect using your HD2? Thanks
I also try to use the trial version of Odyssey Access Client and connect successful but it's always produce error like this:
Bucket Parameters
-----------------
EvntType: WinCE501bExceptio
AppName: ocClientCE.exe
AppVer: 4.20.0.0
AppStamp: 4aaea563
ModName: commctrl.dll

OwnName: odClientCE.exe

I think because HD2 use WM6.5 but Odyssey Access Client only work well for WM6 or below. Do you know any another software like Odyssey Access Client?
is it possible to connect to WPA Enterprise networks via WiFi? because I'm searching for a ROM which would allow to connect to the network on my university, which runs the following configuration:
SSID: eduroam
type: WPA-Enterprise
key exchange scheme: TKIP
authorization: EAP-PEAP-MSchapv2
IP: via DHCP
I tried it with the Energy ROM from the forum, but it doesn't allow me to enroll the certificate or it doesn't want to accept it. the other way round it doesn't allow me to enter a user name, I can only put in my password.
could somebody give me a hint what to do? I was searching the forum, found some registry hacks, but none worked
Try to change:
HKLM\\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\WPAMixedMode
from 1 to 0.
ok, I tried it, but still the same happens:
I enter everything in the configuration menu of the comm manager, click 'next' and then I have to choose a certificate to log on - a little bit lower is a button called 'Enroll', which does nothing when hit. When I try to click 'done' it says that I have to enroll a certificate, so there's only cancel left ...
still doesen't work
well ... can somebody help please?
//edit:
well, as it seems nobody really knows how to work that out ...
Because I'm at my university every two weeks for the weekend, I'll be able to test this way of trying to connect to the WPA enterprise network in a week. but perhaps somebody else can confirm or obey this workaround:
Connect your device to your desktop/laptop and when WindowsMobileDeviceCenter (Win 7: just type the name in the search field in the start bar) opens go to Mobile Device settings >> More >> Get Device Certificates >> I know What Certificate I need to Enrol >> User ... then click enroll. Watch your device as you will be prompted to install the cert. Follow the prompts and after a few seconds you're done. When you setup your wifi connection choose PEAP and enter all the needed information.

It's help I got from microsoft social answers, perhaps somebody can try that out ...?
in case you understand german
http://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/fileadmin/internet_kommunikation/smartphone/htc-hd2_uhh-wpa.pdf
it's from my university. it also contains the instructions for eduroam.
in addition to that manual, I had to uncheck "check server certificate" in the certificate tab of the secureW2 plug-in

yes, indeed, I understand german
thanks a lot for this tip, it looks a little bit different on a customized ROM and stuff, but in general it worked - I'll try it on friday or saturday, then I'll be at my university and able to give feedback!
when it'll work, I'll post a translated how-to in this thread...
sorry, I wasn't able to establish the connection with the tip by jones23 ... perhaps it works with WPA2, but not here ...
Hello,
what is the status of this? Did you find a solution?
I have the same issue since I flashed the EnergyROM.
Any ideas?
unfortunately it's truely not possible, I wasn't able to connect to the configuration from the first post using the HTC Diamond II ... damn thing!
but I'm gonna try this weekend something different: imho it's just a software problem, it's got nothing to do with hardware ... so I'm gonna try a dual boot with android and connect with that, perhaps this will work. I'll give feddback
ok, during clicking around on the device I found the solution:
Comm Manager -> Settings -> WLAN -> Network Cards
Here you can ignore the certificate and enter login data for the WIFI network.
Hopefully someone else can use this information.
@ taschenuhr
thats great to hear
@ others
perhaps you can use a notebook for testing purposes, since the connection & login data is the same. there's a windows (mac) version of that same client software.
