I removed the bloatware, and got my phone all set up, but I can't receive MMS messages. I can send them, but when people send them to me, I never receive them (it never even tried to connect to MEdia Net to retreive it.)
I have gone through the steps to enable/disable the proxy, and I can connect to the device.home page in the browser, but still no MMS. Any ideas on why this happens? My MMS settings look like they're configured correctly...
btw, this happened a year ago when I removed bloatware, so I went to AT&T store, and they had no idea (also confused by my SPB mobile Shell) & ended up resetting & keeping bloatware. I also know it's not my service, because it worked fine with the bloatware, and I put my SIM car in another phone and receive with no issues

So you think that AT$T has a different , separate MEdia Net server with different server settings for every model of phone that it sells ?
Sorry, I meant that I don't know where I can use those settings. Everything in that link you sent me that looked familier, I had seen before trying to fix this (the username and pass, for ex), and I tried to enter the IP address before in the menu I found to enter it, and it wouldn't let me send mms at all.
I have yet to find a WAP settings menu to change the things that link tells me to change. When I goto the GPRS settings, I only have 2 check boxes (PAP or CHAP auth.)
Start\Settings\Connections\Connections then just edit the settings.
maybe I'm just stupid, but I can't get this to work. I've found cab files that people said work to automatically set up the settings. I've manually done the settings other people said to put it.
I tried to decipher the link you sent me, and input the settings in it, but I only have a couple of those menus and settings, so unable to use it. I don't want to, but I'm worried I'll have to re-install all of the bloatware again, because it seems like it's the only way to get this thing to work...
Use the files from this thread.. Or change your radio or something.. That link should help you.

att settings cab
FOR THE WIN!!!!!!
GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
I installed the cab. It put my network back to 3G instead of HSPDA (even though it's set in Kaiser Tweaks to be on HSPDA), and I still can't receive pics

Hi all, I realise there are a lot of resources around here, but to be very honest, they all assume a level of knowledge I just don't have. I'm pretty computer-savvy, but all this phone/PPC stuff is new territory to me.
The story: I recently bought an unlocked T-Mobile MDA to use on the Fido network in Canada. I'm having a lot of trouble getting things to work beyond simple voice and texting. I've finally managed to get a GPRS connection working so I can surf the internet, but I can't get Messenger to work nor can I send MMS. I'm gathering that changing the MMS settings will require I flash the ROM to a generic version, is that correct? I've found the step-by-step instructions for doing this, but have no clue what file to actually use. My #1 priority is using Messenger, and I can't connect via wi-fi or GPRS. Not sure if that's a separate issue or not . . .
I am usually very self-sufficient WRT tech stuff but I am just getting more confused the more I read. Any pointers or hand-holding would be very much appreciated!!
I'll give you what little help I can. Since I don't have fido I can't tell you the settings that you need for sure but I'll see if I can't find them for you. First, you don't have to flash a new ROM to change youe MMS settings, you just have to put the correct setings in there for it to use it. The thing with messenger is that some phone companys have started to block the ports that messengers use so if that's the case with fido, you may never get it to work. I'll do some looking and see if I can't come up with your MMS settings for you though, I'm sure I've seen them around here.
Here you go:
1. Create a 'Cellular Line (GPRS)' connection under My ISP.
Call it whatever, I called it Fido MMS.
2. The APN is mms.fido.ca
3. user=fido, pswd=fido
4. Leave the Advanced tab alone (Auto IP assignments)
5. exit My ISP connections
6. In MMS Composer app, Tools/Options/Server, grab the default.
7. I renamed the server name as 'Fido MMS'.
8. I set the Gateway=205.151.11.13 (note - no leading zeroes or port 9201!)
9. Server address is http://mms.fido.ca
If you have any more settings questions, go to post #7 in this thread. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023&highlight=fido+settings
Hey, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
Part of why I thought I would have to flash the ROM is because in the MMS servers part, I am not able to modify the existing server (T-Mobile) nor can I add a new one since the buttons are all greyed out. I figured T-Mobile had locked this setting in. Am I missing something?
You just have to create new connections. Just go to Start-->Settings--> connections tab--> Connections--> Advanced tab--> Select Networks button--> and finally the New button and use the above settings to create a new connection. After that you should be able to use those settings for your MMS. Also do the exact same thing as above to set up your GPRS settings. When you're done setting those up, to be able to connect to GPRS just choose the GPRS connection you just set up in the Select Networks page. There are 2 connections in there that you can choose which connection you want to use, just use the GPRS settings that you just set up for both of them.
I've managed to set up and connect to the various networks, but I still don't have the option to add or change the MMS server. The buttons remain disabled and only T-Mobile can be used. Still can't log into Messenger, either. The wi-fi is pretty much non-functional. I really regret buying this phone.
Thanks for trying to help me out though, I really do appreciate it.
Just to kind of get this straight, does your GPRS work now? Can you log on to the internet in internet explorer?
I'll have to do some looking, getting your mms to allow you to change to the server that you set up may only take a regestry edit.
As for your wifi, that may have to do with the security settings that you have set up. I believe you can only use wep and in WM5 you may only be able to use 64 bit wep keys but I'm not positive on that. I think you also have to have SSID enabled. I'm kind of new to this part since I just set up my first wireless network about 2 weeks ago.
Don't give up on it yet.
Ok, found the registry settings for MMS. Hopefully your comfortable enough to be able to change the settings yourself. Go to HKLM/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA/Config/mm1/MMSCSettings/T-Mobile MMS
Now change these registry keys:
Gateway : 205.151.11.13
GatewayPort : 8080
ISP : FIDO MMS
MmscURI : http://mms.fido.ca
Name : FIDO MMS
Now close your registry editor and wait 30 seconds or so and press the power off button until it warns you that "device will be off..." click yes and then reboot your phone.
Your MMS settings should now be set to the correct settings although I'm not going to guarantee it since I couldn't test it myself. The only thing I'm thinking that may cause it not to work is the ConnectionVia registry setting which may cause it to revert back to it's original settings because it points to the t-mobile mms settings and I have no idea what you would need to change that setting to. I'm crossing my fingers though that it doesn't cause it to revert back.
If that doesn't work, deleting the entire T-Mobile settings key may unlock your grayed out keys that aren't allowing you to change your settings in the first place.
Please note, that I have confirmed that MMS settings are correct, I have done manual entries and Lurche's cab...
However with my new unlocked Tilt, I cannot get my MMS to work. I just get an "Error Synchronizing"
If I put back my SIM card into my old TyTn, I can do a Send/Receive no problem.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what I can do/test?
Thank you!
...and all of a sudden, I just received an MMS!
I still get an Error Syncing, but it seems to work!
Please disregard!
MMS Help
Mine still doesn't work and I have the same problem as the guy above me. All settings are correct. But whenever I click on send/receive, I get an error synchronizing message. I am able to send but not receive. Help!
Are you using a threaded add on? Have you made any changes (ROM or apps) that would make this happen?
I've just flashed my tilt with Dutty's Dual v4. It also didn't work when I had v3, didn't test it with the stock ATT ROM though. My 8525 used to be able to send and receive without problems.
Since I am not familure with Duty's roms, I dont know what is on them. However, my Tilt, which has the Palm Threaded cab added, gives me the same error. But, even with the errors, my MMS works fine.
Are you able to send and/or receive any MMS?
In the settings for the MMS server, ensure that you are using ATT (or whatever) for the default setting.
I'm not sure about the palm threaded cab... what does it do? I am able to send (I think) but definitely not receive.
Is your user agent set correctly? & if you're AT&T you need the proxy cab.
I'm on tmobile with an unlocked tilt.
I've posted my problems several times before.
I'm on US ATT with a Tilt using Duttys v2. The message says it was successfully sent but the recipient never actually gets the message. Strange part is that I can send to an email address just fine and can send to myself just fine. All of my settings are correct.
I'm on US T-Mobile and I've never had a problem sending or receiving MMS. My only problem was receiving small pics but thats fixed with the wspheader cab. BTW I mustve used 5 diff roms by name and currently using duttys v4. what radio are you using?
To the original poster, I never had to manually enter anything or use any cab to receive any mms. once the configuration is done and soft reset everything should work fine.
To the second person that had the problem i see your using the radio that i had with duttys v3. once i went to v4 i couldnt connect to the internet at all so that might be the problem. try using 1.27.12.11
MMS intermittent several days of effort very frustrating
I have searched hi and low and spent hrs reading posts on all the problems with mms not working on t mobile. My problem seems to be an isolated problem?
I did not get the mms at first so I put in the settings posted. I tried both wap.voicestream and the internet2.voicestream.com... and still the same problem. I then tried the 29.99package cab that was made. and a day later still the same problem.
I have a Tilt with htc dutty rom
the numbers at start up are
r 1.64.06.04
g 25.70.40.02w
d 1.60.00.00
After running the 29.99 cab it seems to be more stable with email accounts and increased the send to 300k but the mms is intermittent.
When I get the message it shows the text box at the bottom of the today screen. If I do not click on it right away when it goes away it never shows up on the message alert icon in the middle of the today screen it also does not show up in the mms area conversation or not(gone forever). Then sometimes maybe 4 hrs later one might all of a sudden load??? and appear even after it attempted to download the first time earlier in the day???
Then sometimes it will download and notify, if I click on it right away I can view the text and pic, once I press close it never shows up in the mms area? Like its gone to the TILT angels to never be seen again??? Then sometimes it downloads and starts a conversation and works normal??? (Very rarely though)
I have tried several settings my internet works with auto or all settings I have tried. Its just the mms receiving. Its hit or miss? Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. If you need any numbers or other info let me know and much thanks.

for ATT you're most likely missing some registry settings. does dutty's rom have arcsoft cooked in? i have a cab that 100% works with ATT. click the link in my sig and install Arcsoft 5_0_31_16 in my first post or Arcsoft 5_0_31_19 from my second post.

These cabs do work for picture MMS but not for video MMS unless you have changed something recently. There are very few ROMS with working video MMS on AT&T. Dutty's latest and the Death beta both work for sure. I've flashed to many times lately to remember what others. I should start making a list.
I don't know if your up for changes...but try my new rom under my signature.... MMS is working perfect for AT&T.
If anything, download it, extract it, and look at my MMS settings if you would like. I was having problems sending to Verizon customers until now. Either the network is fixed or my MMS is great! I'm going with the network being fixed.

If sending to verizon make sure your message size is under 300k. They can't receive larger. Have you tested video mms on your ROM? Create a message. When you go to add a video, tap and hold the video and select play. If it plays within arcsoft then yours should be working. I haven't gotten the chance to test your ROM yet but I will.
what about using it on T-Mobile?
The problems i stated previously in my earlier post are for T-mobile? Is there other options or suggestions other than the ones I posted? Thanks.
maybe this is related...
I am on at&t, but I think it might apply to t-mobile, who knows.
I used the htc autoconfig for a wm6.1 rom and had several anomalies with my connection settings. I tried a lot to fix them and am still pretty sure I had the settings right. The only thing that fixed it was taking the advice of a poster which I tried to avoid.
The advice was to not use the automatic connection settings but to use a cab to install them instead.
So I hard reset and never looked back.
Point is that you most likely have a setting issue, but I couldn't fix it after autoconfig. I tried deleting the settings and installing the cabs, but still had random issues.
Dutty's hybrid apr 29 worked fine for me.
ryncppr, nice rom
Tmobile and mms issue research dutty dual touch
UPDATE:::
I did a hard reboot and started from scratch ignored the auto network setup. I then tried to install the joe2995 tmobile cab. It would not do anything without already having the settings setup, then it adjusts them. So I then tried to manually set them up and I used tmobile wesite they actually show the tytn 2 phone and settings. And that was where the questions began. I soon learned the settings for MMS was not in the phone where it said, materafact I could not find them at all. I have duttys dual touch and wondered if that was the issue. So I started some intense investigation and found that the settings are only achievable if you setup an email account. The mms server settings only show in the menu of the email account? Is this just a software setup issue? or does it effect the mms because its located in the email area. I dont have the code and do not know what order it was written in so Its only a question. I did more research on the site and found that everyone with duttys dual touch and tmobile posts said they were having this sort of problem. And yet others with duttys other versions were ok. Anyone's insight would be appreciated? I also put the correct settings in the mms server area and still having intermittent mms issues, as posted in previous post. Anyone with duttys dual touch version and tmobile ok with mms and photo send and receive??
No MMS ATT
I have the new gullum throttle diamond rom and was able to send/ receive mms before the flash i installed arcsoft v 4.0.31.28.2 and it restored the multimedia option under messages but i can neither send nor receive even though messeges say sent
i have a att tilt and for some reason i can no longer send multimedia messages or connect to media net. i am not sure what happened because it worked before and now no longer does. i have looked for solutions but none seem to work. my wifi still works it is just media net
Perhaps the master account blocked data access. My wife did that and then her son could no longer send multimedia text messages. They found out the hard way that the multimedia part of the text message uses data access...
hmm that could be it. but i was under the assumption that with the text message plan it was free multimedia messages also. also im pretty sure that the master account didnt block it. i just dont know what could be the problem
Did you install any configuration cabs? Those will sometimes change your mms settings to default to Isp or Internet. Check your options and settings for mms that it's using Media net to connect and of course the connection settings to default to Media net
Just got a new diamond here in Tokyo connected the Softbank network.
It seems whenever I send out an email via Outlook/SMS/S! Mail(Service that allows SMS-like mail to be sent to regular email accounts or other cellphone providers...most people use it here in Japan) I get a "Your mail has been successfully sent" email confirmation everytime I send out a mail. For someone who uses all three services frequently, it tends to get a little annoying
I've downloaded many tweaks and modification applications for the diamond but it seems I'm still not able to find the workaround...
Does anyone know the cure for this or is this a known problem?

This little quirk bothers me too because I want to hit send and then lock the device; unfortunately, when I hit send and lock the device I get a bunch of notifications and the device unlocks itself and random uttones get pressed as its in my pocket.
It may be best to load a WWE rom and sort out the smail using mmslite. Getting JP input working however is another issue.
For the problem with the notifications in softbank's arcsoft mail app, I wonder if there is a registry fix we can do.
solution for successful sent notification(at least for text)
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-diamondpro-tweak.html
Go to messages, and disable text messages notifications.
Kevbodian, mjz147,
Thanks, I really appriciate your quick response!!
I checked out that Diamond tweak app and its one hell of an applicaiton!
It seems though, when I disabled the text message notification and soft reset, im still getting those alerts after sending MMS/SMS emails.
Is there something wrong with my device or I may have to do some manual modifications via registry? :\
Tried to just disable em in Windows?
Start/Messaging/Menu/Tools/Options/SMS MMS
There you can disable notifications. Atleast for SMS messages for me it works.

I guess I have bad luck when it comes to disabling notification via Windows.
Unlike the US version, my phone doesnt have just one central location for mail but two (Outlook application - used for PC email & SoftBank Mail - used for SMS and MMS...)
So when I looked under the option menu in Outlook tools, I wasnt able to find any SMS/MMS options...
Im sure theres a registry hack that can be used...im not so sure why the diamond tweak app could apply changes to everything except the "turn off notifications" option though...
Was anyone able to solve this issue?
Did you guys try Advanced Config v3.3?
It has a section devoted to messages tweaks.
It does have a tweak that disables notifications.
Greets.

I currently have 3.3 installed and have used it to disable/enable many features on my Diamond. But it seems after I disable the 'SMS delivery notification' and 'SMS sent notification" fields (and soft reboot), it is still showing the sent notifications after sms/s!mail is sent...
As Kevbodian was saying, maybe there is a special reg hack that needs to be done under softbank's arcsoft mail app.
could somebody figure out what change is made when that notification is turned off and turn this into a cab file? the only thing that bothers me is the sound. i dont mind the bubble or the little icon on the top telling me that my sms is sent. thanks
this one is simple and right to the point install it and it doesnt give you the message, you dont have tons of menus to navigate through just that install
also i am simply reposting this app i did not develop it or design it credit goes where credit is due
so this turns off the sound AND the notifications also? thanks
yep no sound and no pop up message after sending one
i hope it helps
almost tempted to figure out how cab files work (arent they just reg edits?) and maybe try to see if i can change it myself. i like having the notifications (bubble and little icon on the top) but the sound can be annoying at times,
Edit1: also i just installed advanced config 3.3 and the notification thing works for me.
Edit2: also search "kraiser tweak" and you will find it has settings for this. a lot of settings actually for just the thing you are talking about. now we just need to find the edits in the registry because i dont really like having 2 configuration programs on my phone. (advance config, and kraiser tweak)
Edit3: ok i found this on the wiki....Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings] Set SMSNoSentMsg to 1
.....so does this mean if it was changed to a 2,3,or 4 that would change the action of it? im really trying to look into this.....if you cant tell haha
I have a Focus S that was from AT&T but was unlocked for other carriers. I was on Telus Mobility before and MMS worked without any setting changes. I just changed carriers, I am now on Koodo Mobile and I can't get MMS to work.
I am unable to fully unlock my phone because it is updated and I don't have a backup so I can't do any on the usual fixes to enable ADC. I do have it unlocked through the App Hub though (student account) so I can sideload some apps so maybe there is a solution there, I did load "samsung tools" but it doesn't work since the phone isn't fully unlocked.
I have tried the Samsung Wireless Manager app it got my 4G data working, but when I enter the MMS APN as soon as I save it, it changes from "MMS" profile to "other" and the MMSC that I entered disappears.
Please help!! I really miss having MMS to exchange photos with my family.
Thanks!
The latest Samsung update (LE2) blocked XML editing (to prevent WindowBreak and similar) which also blocked the ability for the Wireless Manager to change the network configurations which are stored in XML files.
Follow this guys directions (specifically the ones at the bottom) and you'll be able to get everything working except sending MMS, you'll be able to receive but not send. The MMS profile has to be named mms_line otherwise it will save as other. And for me at least, I was able to change all settings and save them except for the MMSC (server which handles the sending of MMS), so long as you configure everything correctly you'll be able to at least receive MMS, and as per someone else's suggestion you could sign up for text plus or something and advise the sender that you use a different number/service to send MMS.
Thanks Samsung -_-
