HELP!!!! I am stuck under "htc" while booting - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone: CDMA Hero
ROM: Freshhh2.0d
Recovery Image: 1.5.2
Well the story begins:
Last week installed Freshh2.0d rom everything worked perfect...... until I tried to screw with the lock screen (tried to install vanilla lock screen and for some reason it messed the rom soon I assign password to lock screen!!) To even realize it was the lock screen I had to reboot and flash the rom several times (maybe like 8-10!!!) then finally it started working!!!
But after the last flash, I started having force close issues with several core apps, like touch screen, google apps etc..... so this morning decided to reflash the rom one last time and see if it fixes the issues.... but I feel like I have done more than just that..... here is what I have done....
1. Re-flashed Freshhh2.0d rom, after reboot got stuck at "htc" screen that comes up after all the animations
2. I wiped or did a factory reset and flashed again..... same result
3. Wiped again and this time I wanted to download the rom again and while downloading rom, I stumbled up on new recovery image 1.6.2
4. I applied new recovery image with wiped or factory reset phone, rebooted in recovery and flashed rom
5. Again stuck under htc screen after all animations....
6. Went back to recovery image 1.5.2 and flashed rom
7. After all this the net result is still same...... stuck in htc screen....... not booting the phone!!!!
Can somebody point me to the right direction???? I am even thinking about trying a different rom and see if that comes up!!!

Ok, first go back to the 1.6.2 recovery.
Next, wipe the following:
Factory Reset
Dalvik Cache
SD: EXT (if you were using apps2sd this will nuke your apps, so be sure you have a backup).
Then reflash Fresh 2.0d (or whatever ROM you want to use).
If you still have problems I recommend doing the RUU to return it to stock and start over.

Same with me I have been trying to flash fresh 20d. On my first reboot it always gets stuck on HTC screen. I'm comming from Fresh 2.0b2. Don't know what else to try. Though I can do Nandroid and get back to Fresh2.0b2

When in doubt, always wipe before going to a new rom. When NOT in doubt, wipe anyhow.
Sure you can go to a new rom sometimes without a wipe...but 80% of the time you do much better going clean.
Also, how long have you waited on the HTC screen? I've seen that take upwards of 10 minutes.

I have waited as much as an hour. Also, I did do a Factory reset many times. I just don't know what else to try.

if none of that works. just use the right ruu for your device.

Did you wipe dalvik and SD: ext as well?
You should wipe everything there's an option for.

NO I actually didn't do that I'm going to try right now and post back THANK YOU Didn't wipe SD: ext

Wipe all 3 again, then reflash.
Factory
Dalvik
SD: ext
Then let us know how it goes.

Your problems are caused by apps2sd... plain and simple. Fresh 2.0d's release notes tell you that you are going to have to wipe your sd:ext (as well as data wipe). That is because there were several versions of apps2sd floating around before and they aren't all compatible.
http://geekfor.me/new-release/fresh-20d/
Secondly make sure you are using ext3 and not ext2.
http://geekfor.me/faq/apps2sd/

Yes It worked Finally. I wiped all Three and reflashed it and waited 15 mins and it worked.

yes it worked. I wiped all 3 and worked

Great! that did the trick!!!

Flipz, there is one shortcoming with 2.0d (not sure if its something inherent to the original rom itself!) When I use my corporate email on my Hero it forces me to assign password and when I do that and lock my screen phone stops responding there after. This happens when I am using vanilla screen lock update.... I can't unlock for anything.... any idea how to fix this?

Glad to hear you're both up and running.

cyanogenmod 4.1.99 support line for installation issues

ok due to the massive number of people clogging the offical thread im starting this thread just to help some of our newer members get working. anyone with a proper working install can help as well. let the issues begin.
i have no data connection at all i have installed 1.6 from htc and then 4.1.99. I even went back and wiped and reinstalled both rebooted and still no connection (3g or 2g).
any ideas
when you signed into google did it work or say cant connect?
Ok here's a question. I was running 4.1.11 which was running fine. I downloaded the recovery image & flashed it thru the recovery console (home + power) and then tried to flash 4.1.99 & now when i try going into the recovery console, I get the Exclamation point with the phone on its side. If i let it power thru it loads up, but like its stock.
I even tried terminal emulation & can't even get the SU command to work.
Any suggestions besides, re-rooting?
This is what I did
Okay, let me start off by saying I have had none of the lag a lot of the people are reporting. So I figured I would post how I installed step by step just incase it helps someone.
Step 1: Download the HTC rom and Cyanogen rom.
Step 2: Reboot into recovery.
Step 3: Flash the HTC update from recovery and let it finish ( it will do the radio as well) the phone will reboot back into recovery by itself.
Step 4: Wipe.
Step 5: Flash the Cyanogen update.
Step 6: Enjoy.
Don't think it would make any diff but just incase, I came from JACxHEROSkiv2.2 and cm 1.4 recovery.
Hope this helps in any way.
yes the same thing happened to me. its very simple too. just fastboot cyanogens recovery.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3915123
heres fastboot stuff
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
then flash newest cyanogens like normal and wipe afterwards.
Whenever I follow the steps, the rom is unusuable. This is both before and after a wipe. Everything slows down and crashes. It won't even boot fully, because the launcher has issues. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Im about to wipe my EXT3 partition
Every time I try updating to 4.1.99 It stays on the g1 screen.

try wiping your ext3 however please note alot is going on first boot. i didnt have any issues with slow but i wiped my ext3 and data(wipe in recovery) slow downs are caused mostly by missing or incompatible issues. thats why wiping is recommended. try wiping ext3 and start from scratch. its worth it.

check your md5s on both and start from scratch.
Here's what I did:
1. Wipe.
2. Delete all your EXT partition stuff.
3. Reboot into recovery.
4. Flashed the HTC update from recovery. I did NOT reboot after this finished.
5. Flashed the Cyanogen update.
6. Rebooted and waited for the post flashing process to finish.
I had one single FC at the beginning but now it's all good.
If you are not clearing out your dalvik cache and all your other EXT stuff AND wiping, then it's only not working because you didn't do those things.
yes both ways work. however if you have issues try letting the radio install. ONLY if you have issues.
here's a question:
Why are some how to's telling you to flash the 2 files and simply fix permissions while others are saying you need to wipe? it seem like some are running fine without the wipe.
Also, did this myself without wiping and getting google fc at reboot. I've been reading these threads for like 2 hours now and i was under the impression the market, etc. would still work but it's backing out of the white screen and not loading it up. Is that my only option is to do a wipe now? And if i wipe, do i need to reflash anything?
Big thanks to cyan and everyone else for so much help! thank guys!
the reason some people have to let the radio flash is due to either a bad flash. corrupted install or some other reason. every new version come with a new radio and it will sometimes delete your recovery. this is because certain older setup are different and not very consistant. however things happen and some stuff gets messed up. every dream is the same and this software is the same. but you are the different part.

wipe is to fix an issue with google apps. as well as if you had something before causing issues.

Not sure if it is your only option, but it might help. And no you will not need to flash anything afterwards.

Look at it this way...
You moved into a new place and the last tenant was evicted. He left all his crap lying around (mostly trash and dirty laundry.)
Do you sweep the rooms and take out the trash and call it a day? Or do you clean the whole house first? Technically, taking the trash should be enough (laundry included) but you never know what else is hiding in the house (maybe he had a pet tarrantula and it's walking around unbeknown to you. Eventually, you'll run into it and force close yourself in shock.

HERO to CYANOGEN?

G1 is stuck on T-Mobile G1 screen for over 10 mins HELP! I wiped everything.
If you want help, I recommend telling us specifically what you did (what Hero you were on, what version of Cyan you flashed, what recovery you're using)
But without knowing any of that, I'm going to suggest (assuming you have Amon_Ra's latest recovery) that you boot to recovery and wipe everything a couple times, then flash Cyan. By everything, I mean Factory Reset, Wipe EXT, Wipe Dalvik-Cache, and to be safe, Repair EXT. And do all those at least once, factory reset again, and flash.

do all the resets then restart. do not reflash or resore a nandroid just reset phone. for soome reason it works when u do that. if it resarts and is factory then you can go back into recovery and flash or do a nandroid restore. also run a log cat while restarting phone. see if it is hanging or talking a really long time

[Q] Extremely slow boot-time when new rom

Hi, tried serveral roms now but after I restart the phone and with the new rom installed it takes forever to boot. Havent got past the bootlogos at all. Have tried to let the phone boot for like an hour or so...
Normal original rom works fine. What is wrong?
Try doing a full wipe

Yes, I have done a nand backup and restored to my original rom and it works.
After that I then wipe both data and dalvik cache and install a rom. I still get the slow boot time of the rom, or should it take long? More than a hour?
With example with SPQRom I get the blue android on skateboard for like forever, have not get passed that screen.
Something must be wrong?
I tried booting up without a sd-card and nothing changed, same problem. I believe it must be that I dont have any space left on the phone.
Is there a command in recovery to type to see available space?
I have these kind of problems a long time. Nothing works. I tried all above plus many times, plus other things, as format sd card, change sd card, wipe through adb, wipe system, and others I cannot remember.
I have the same problem with SPQRom, version 0.4.1 and I solved once by manually push the libaudio files in lib directory after rom flashing. But maybe your error is different.
I have similar problem with version 0.5, but in this case the problem appears in earlier stage(in first TATTOO screen). And I have this problem with other versions and roms like fyodor's, ikxdf's... And this happens only with 2+ custom roms and in some versions not all. With 1.6 roms I never had problem(with any rom or version I tried).
So I don't know if is device's problem or rom's building.
Oops, that does not sound good at all.
I have only tried 2.2 roms, maybe should try with a 1.6 rom and see if it works..
Ok, so a 1.6 rom works. Damn.
HCDR.ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723255
Anyone has a solution??
Tried kiljacken rom (2.1) and that did not work.
So i did a restore, similar to what I have done before to get the phone working, and now that wont get past the boot logo.
Does anyone have a clue what is going on?

[Q] I got 2 questions about Rooting and Jacob's CM.

Okay the first question:
Ive rooted my device using Unrevoked 3.22 at my HTC Buzz (Wildfire) 1.25 (I think thats the version, its 2.1Update1). And now i maybe want to unroot my phone to install the updates (The 1.27 update doesnt install, is there a solution to this without unrooting?) So, on to the question. How to unroot my device when ive used Unrevoked 3? I rooted it on my brothers MAC OSX, becuase its much safer in my opinion.
Second question:
Okay, Now i have installed the CM 6.10 Stable version. How long will it take to boot? It has been in the boot state for 2 hours and 15 minutes for now. Ive wiped the SD Card and Cache and the Factory reset before install. It does only say HTC with a white blank screen and green letters (as normal).
Thanks for your time reading!
Yours
Antezz
It took me less than 15 minutes. Obvious suggestion, but have you tried turning it off and on (pull the battery and try again).

Okay to be honest i didnt really wipe my SD card. I have tried rebooting this 2 times, and Reflashing it 3 times. It doesnt work. I tried to flash openfire 2.3 today and it works perfectly, but ive heard that the Cyanogen is much better.
howzit man.
restore your original backup with nandroid.
then .
1.) wipe cache
2.) factory reset
3.) go into advanced on clockwork recovery and wipe dalvik cache.
I had the same problem! this works
if not, redownload CM and transfer to your phone again. and go to number 1
let me know how it goes..
You should wipe your /CACHE, /DATA, /SYSTEM, /SDCARD, /SD-EXT
That way you'll be sure NOTHING will be on your phone...
After that, connect your phone with USB to pc. Mount the sdcard.
Put Cyanogenmod.zip on it. Unmount it. Reboot into recovery.
You select: under main-> clear cache, clear default settings (or something like that), under advanced -> clear Dalvik cache, clear Battery status.
Now you just flash the zip on it and everything will be just fine... trust me...
Let me know how it worked out for you. k?
Just make sure that everytime your flash a .zip to the device you give it time to
settle down in the ROM... so that means you'll need to restart after each .zip you flash.
That's what I do and I've never head any problems with it.
Greetings, Jason
@Jason
Thank you!
It worked perfectly. And i have no further questions.
It booted after 10 min, ít started to show the costum startup screen after appox. 30 sec. THANK YOU!
