Want to create/help develop an app, suggestions? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

I want to start fleshing out my skills as a programmer and do some work to update my portfolio. I know quite a bit about .NET languages, and have been an avid user of WinMo phones for years. Does anyone have any suggestions for niche applications they'd like to see on Windows Mobile, or know of a current project that needs help in the programming department? I'd like to know so I can improve my skills.

Aviation GPS software for Kaiser

Hello all.
I have had my Kaiser for over a month now and I am VERY pleased with it. The only "little" quirk I have is that i really don't need TomTom.
Does anyone know of an "aviation style" GPS program that would work? I don't need street type navigation, but it would be interesting to test it against the systems we have in our aircraft.
Any help finding this kind of software would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dominic
'Aviation style' GPS software
Hi Dominic,
i'm using OziExplorerCE (www.oziexplorer.com) on my Kaiser and it works fine. I'm using this software since many years on all the PPCs i've ever used (and these were a lot...)
You can use your own maps and calibrate them with desktop version ov OciExplorer. Both are available as trial on the website. You will also find a number of maps on the web.
Regards
Waldi
Dominic,
I want to do the same
Try www.Pocketfms.com ... it is a bit complicated to install, and ... do NOT install too many FIRs to begin with.
You can get a 30 day trial version.
Thanks guys. I will try those 2 and see.
Dominic
I'm using CompeGPS Air .
www.compegps.com
It's quite easy to use and very stable with a lot of fonctionnality.
You can have a try.
check here also

You may want to look at some of these and evaluate. There are some nuggets here... some are free
enjoy!
Nice aviation software
there is a really good moving map application for free. It is calles xc-soar. It was written by glider pilot.. however it is a fantastic software.. and it is for free!!
I haven't had a chance to run it on my Kaiser.. however it works fine with the IPAQ 3870.
Link: http://www.xcsoar.com/
Is there any GPS mapping software that has the entire US preloaded? IE: you don't need to create localized maps. I'm not looking for anything high rez or complicated, I'm looking for something that will show me where I am in the US while flying. Maybe a simple vector map with major cities, statelines, etc. I fly commercial a lot and would like to track where I am in-flight.

MSN Direct

I cannot get it to work on the Kaiser, has anyone tried this yet?
Won't install for me either. Says it's not intended for this device.
I'm running v3.0 Sleuth. Could be it doesn't like WinMo 6.1, but I have no way to verify that unless I reflash.
I have a t-mobile Wing and it doesn't work either. I think it is because all the phones listed as supported are smartphones (without touch screen).
Anyone know a work-around install for touch screen based units?
Just look at the name of the file it installs: SP50.cab = SP= Smartphone.
I've adjusted the CAB a little to allow it to install on a Kaiser. But when installed it's not 100%.
It installs, you can run the MSNDirect.exe through File Explorer, but as the controls are geared towards SmartPhone, it's not all that usable
Perhaps someone with additional skills can tweak it.
Is it possible for someone to tweak the program to be more touch friendly?
I'm pretty bummed about this. I've had a SPOT watch for years and would really like to have it on my Kaiser.
I have a Dash sitting on a shelf at home, that my wife didn't want, but I really can't switch to a Dash for MSN Direct.
its work for me
samsung b7320
but no wethr for iran .......
sucks!!!
but rep+++
yhx
Wow I didn't even know this service was still around...I used to have one of the watches, they were pretty cool.
This does not pertain to Kaiser Rom Development. Please post questions like this in the Kaiser General section in the future.
Thank You

Installer based app for the HTC Touch Diamond

It would be very good to see an Installer based application for HTc Touch Diamond.
For people that do not know what Installer is, it is an application for the iPhone that downloads and installs other application on the phone.
And since the Diamond has WIFI I think it would be nice to have this kind of app.
So anyone what to make this kind of app?I will be happy to donate.
P.S Since it is a windows mobile phone it already has a million apps.
oh i would love the guy who make that happen.
Diamond + EvolutionRGB (iphone "game" you can get mith the installer) would be the last thing i need for my diamond. except getting tomtom worked
If I had some experience in writing application I would have tried to make it myself , but I have absolutely no experience
most sites offer a cab file which is relatively easy to install
the app would never work because it would require all developers to have the database in the app or accessable by the app
to unfeasable
the onyl reason iphone can do that is because apple controls everything and distributes via apple
so hence iphone can get them
not gonna happen on wm
You are probably right, I know its easy to install software on wm with cab files, but Im just saying that it would be great and easier
ya would be but
databasing would be nigh unmanagable... unless u get something like linux packet distro's
even so seems to be a lot of work for little effect
are u sure that there is no way to creat anithing similar to the installer.app?
a prog for wm just tu enter these "sources network". i thnink these iphone users calling the thing theyr doin "jailbreaking" and that doesn't sound very legal either.
pls can anyone tell me it is possible.....and if not then pls explain exatly why. so i can stop dreaming of it
thx in advance
Set up some kind of xda-repository (spelled right) just like I see on Linux communities ...
I will be in moscow in a mouth and a I know a few good developers there a might talk to them
Is AppToDate not along the lines of what you're looking for..? Or at least a starting point..?
Google it to find out more (is liked to the iPhone thingy) and take a look at:
http://www.modaco.com/content/apptodate/267096/download-apptodate-supported-applications/
Seems a good idea to me - although at the same time I can never imagine enough people signing up to it!

Kaiser Prog Ideas

http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/140/top-10-iphone-apps
This site is iphones most popular programs. Some of which i have never seen for some pda's. I would love a program like savebenji's. A price check program.
Or Sportstap. Unfortunatly i do not know how to code in java or any other language for mobile phones/pda's but figure i post for pda programmers to get ideas if they choose to start on a project..

Developing with J2ME in HTC Diamond

Hi everyone, first post here!
I am trying to write a imple app in J2ME that is able to give me some measure of localization info printed on screen. To my demise, I found out that the Java VM existing in the HTC Diamond (Esmertec) does not support the Location API (JSR179) and not even the typical bluetooth API! I am currently trying to, somehow, access GSM info like CellID, so at least I am able to output something.
Has anyone ever tried to do something like this with the HTC, and could provide some insight, plz?
BR,
Oldiamons
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Java, MIDlets
but that being said wm is a horrid java platform
you're better off making c# or c++ apps for wm
java is best for symbian or android
