I was just wondering if anyone's else myTouch lags in 3d gaming, such as ragingthunder or toonwars. I also have the G1 and the myTouch have the same hardware but the touch feels alot slower...
my phone lags when playing the first raging thunder, other than that, its fine mate
Mine lags in Raging Thunder and Toon Warz, never tried other 3D games.

I think it just has to do with the GPU drivers we have been supplied with; "I think". I heard the 2.1 update has some much improved drivers but we will see when it comes out.

Hi,
Has anyone else experienced poor/jerky gameplay with kaiser?
Seems to run fine for everything else but has trouble with the following games:
VT Pocket Tennis (old i know).
Pool Rebel
Seems slightly sluggish (although acceptable) with some of the other games in comparison to my tytn.
Can anyone make any suggestions for tweaks/tests?
Thanks

if they are old games that could be the reason why, it doesn have support for GDI i think it is. have you tryed any emulators? GBA for example?
www.sunbug.net
Thanks for the speedy reply!
Pool Rebel is a new release but is still very sluggish. I have contacted their support team as it may just be that the game is not optimised for the cpu.
VT pocket tennis was designed for PPC2002! Used to work very well on my TYTN but is virtually unplayable on TYTN II.
Will I be able to use the emulator on games designed for PPC?
I'm not sure what is the problem, but I can comfirm that the graphic chipset integrated in MSM7200 is one of ATI Imageon product.

http://www.cdmatech.com/download_library/pdf/3dgaming_brochure.pdf
from the data sheet, the performance should be said as good, so perhaps the new graphic chipset is not supported?
Maybe HTC has disabled most of the Video chipset functionality, they have a habit of disabling everything before launch! *Shakes fist*
It does also look like the graphic chipset has 3d hardware support but so far you cant take adventage of it with direct3d because it only has referance drivers which doesnt use any of the hardware. But once HTC releases drivers that take advantage of this hardware it should be one kick butt gaming device...

looks so cool for a ppc game!
I just got my kaiser, upgraded from a 200 mhz prophet, big difference everywhere except gaming. I have pocketSNES a Super nintendo emulator, and it runs OK, but when you play with sound it lags quite a bit. I thought this device was suppposed to have pretty good graphics??
Some benchmarks
TyTn 2 graphic is slower than HTC Mogul

TyTn 2 graphic is the fastest

this is not because it has poor graphics or has trouble playing it, it's cause PocketSnes hasnt been updated in such a long time it doesnt even support the phone completely or support teh GFX driver. however, have you tried Morphgear?
http://soft.softoogle.com/ap/morphgear-download-5321.shtml
Yeah, I tried pool rebel too ... and damn, it is so slow
Any reply from their support?
Btw, any good game for this Kaiser? The one that is nice and fast.
Support have replied. They will be adding Direct X support for the game in future release although have not specified when. That should hopefully improve performance. I have tried the following games and they work well:
Flux Challenge
Sky Force
Sky Force Reloaded
Resco Guardians
Anthelion 2
Argentum
Explode Arena
KRally
Snails
SPB AirIslands
Stolen In 60 Seconds
Cheers
Anybody played this game on the Vogue? It's AWESOME! lol...no really you should get it, ill post a vid soon, but imo I think it plays better than on other phone because of the d-pad, save the N1 and Droid. Single player is a bit laggy, but on multiplayer once your in the lead it's smooth sailing
Also I have a question, does our phone have a dedicated GPU?

GPU has worked on this phone for almost a year thanks to DZO. This only works in Android because HTC never released drivers and no one could ever firgure out how to do it for WinMo.
IMHO its what makes Android on the Vogue SO MUCH better than WinMo. Adroid would still be better than Windows but not by as much as with GPU

driving blows because of the dpad and no tilt support >.< but it is pretty cool
i have 60mb free on my nand, why is this game telling me it cant install, free up space? the apk is 19mb. raging thunder 1 works and looks great
when I download it it downloads then says installation unsuccessful
I've tried playing this on my Eris and it force closes all the time, so I would imagine it would be pretty tough to play on the Vogue.
i finally got it to work once i cleared data and istalled it first before installing any other apps. Otherwise it wanted more free space and wouldnt let me install. Single player lags but multipalyer runs pretty good. Raging thunder 1 runs fantastic though.
im running it on my diamond wiith the build of klinux with no probleme
has anyone got any of the game loft games to work or have any fps to recomend. i went to gamelofts site (on my phone of course) and went to by sand storm cus my lil bro was playin it on his i touch. they didnt have the slide so i downloaded it for the droid because i read a lot of places people were using that version on other phones. everytime i open it i get process com.gameloft.android.gand.gloftmchp has stopped unexpectidly. so i went online and downloaded a couple other versions off rapid share and such. not to pirate but i didnt want to spend 5 bux to try each version if i find one that works i will gladly pay for it. the other versions installed opened and downlaoded the nesearry files and then wen i push the screen when it says tap screen to play it shuts off.my friend at work can play it on his palm pre i didnt think either the touch or the pre had better specs than the mytouch.
Omg y man yyyyyyyyyy .....ok first the itouch has an exelerated gpu wich means more memory for games the slide gpu isnt ment for intense game like that even if it was it would be watered down the pre is a dif story it has more internal memory if anything craigslist an ipod touch not itouch(means ur a dumba$$) if u want intense gameing woo(sarcasm) imo im switching my ipod to android when the files for it come out

You have no idea what you're talking about. The MyTouch Slide has 512MB of ram which is double the original Pre and the same as the Pre plus. It also has the same GPU as the nexus one.
Oops... Edited
Ive gotten nova to play. its a fun game. The controls are weird at first though.
n.o.v.a
how did you get it to work
Well to be honest the mytouch slide doesn't have any decent first person shooters out now, I know a lot of great ones but they are only for top grade phones I'm sorry

So I got the psx emulator even though the slide probably isn't the best device to be running the app on. Tried a few of my fave games and the larger roms (like GT2) are slightly laggier then the smaller ones (like Spyro 2). This is probably normal due to size.
I know this is the first release so its not a well pollished app but how much better do you folks think its going to get for us slide users? And is this the same experience the rest of you are having?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
took the app from 4shared.com amd game won't load. buying it tommorow tho, but it shouldnt run horrid thinking it might run smooth actually, not a fan of how you have to get the roms but hey it ps1 on the go right?
Update: Looks like my Bios was the issue, but works fine now. Games are pretty laggy tried overclocking but not sure it worked out to well, need to try something else. only tried spyro playable but not normal game play like you'd want. Wish we had hummingbird in this! *drools over keyboard* If FF7-9 work good enough for me then. but maybe in the future once its more polished it could become better but playing fighter games or very actiony games maybe not "amazing". Price you must pay for owning a mid-range device.
the games are wayyyy too laggy for slide imho. i just stick with the good ol snes emulator.
I think its the emulator that needs some work because I have heard it runs crappy on the Evo too, but for a work in progress you have to admit that its pretty impressive to be able to load a PSX game onto your phone. I have tried a bunch of different ROMs and so far the only one that is playable is Resident Evil Directors Cut.
I just downloaded this, but I'm enjoying it. It's laggy, but I think the fact that it's even possible is amazing.
I've been watching the psx4droid wiki(can't post a link yet) and another forum. Just checking out to see people's experiences with certain games. I think most of the people that are sharing on the wiki have a bit more mhz than us, but it kind of gives me an idea which games will be ok to run.
I've got FF7 right now and it's definitely laggy, but playable. Sound a bit on the staticy side. Downloading Breath of Fire III, Xenogears and Resident Evil 2.
I'm reading the Resident Evils should be better since a lot of the graphics are pre-rendered and mainly the characters and npcs are 3D.
Running stock, btw. Holding out for 2.2 before determine if I'm going to root.
Also, Hello!

Unfortunately RE2 runs too slow but RE Directors Cut runs well enough to play and the sound isnt terrible. So far thats the best I can find, well Tetris Plus runs fine but there are better Tetris games you can play in the market.

Ah crud. Well I'll probably be trying more things to see what is great. I wasn't really too excited about RE2 anyways. I never really had a PSX, so I didn't play a lot of these games. Of course I could just do it on the PC now, but... well, I do enjoy the slide.
About halfway through disk one of Final Fantasy 7. The game runs perfect on Fenix 1.8 OCed to 844mhz. Zero lag. The only issue is the sound but I usually play it in public places anyway so it's not a deal breaker for me. Even bust out the WiiRemote for a controller sometimes at home
Hi!
I got a My touch 3G to replace the tilt 2 for my wife since she wanted to play some games I got in my Galaxy S.
I was not expecting miracles but I was hoping that it would be able to run games like Angry Birds, Crush The Castle and Blow Up at great speed but I need to say I am dissapointed.
Angry Birds runs the best of the three and playable.
Blow Up is close to good but sometimes feel like its underwater or like watching the Bionic Man.
Crush the Castle is just horrible.
Is it because I am running Cyanogen 6 froyo?
Do you guys really only have about 30MB of free ram after booting?!
Thanks for helping...I am trying to decide if its worth an older ROM like Eclair or just sell this the tilt 2 and look for a Galaxy S and call it a day.
Regards
Have you tryed an overclock kernel? That may help with some lag. I've only played angry birds out of those and it runs great.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
It is already at 528mhz or so...I have seen some stuff about 700mhz kernels but I am not sure if that is for this phone
Ok tried out blow up and it ran great! I'm clocked at 844mhz on my phone and I'm using a 2.1 rom so if you overclock on a cm 2.2 rom then it should run like it does on your galaxy s check out the dev section and look at the dopio thread and scroll to the 3.1 kernels then everything should run smooth
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
sorry guys wrong forum mine is not the slide...my bad
Lol when I read it I assumed you meant the slide
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
But the mytouch can be overclocked pretty high I was thinking 700s or close to 800 either way it will make the games a lot smoother
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yeah... I was wondering why the game was playing slow for him, blow up works perfectly for me with stock everything.
