Point to updating ROM? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have been browsing through the forums here for a couple of days, and I see a lot of ROMs for everything from WM6.5 to Google Android. I also see threads about updated radios that I have not read much into yet. Presently I am quite happy with my phone, WM6.1 + SPB 3.5 shell. My Kaiser is as follows:
ROM: 3.57.502.2 WWE (07/17/08)
Radio: 1.65.21.18
So I was just wondering, is there any practical advantage to a new ROM other than having a new interface and/or new software?

Well, cooked ROMs are generally MUCH faster than regular stock ones, and they also have more features or programs that are usefull compared to the stock bloatware that is a normal ROM.

Well, personally I understand your point here and your concern about what is the added value to flash/update to a new rom version. My personal suggestion to you is that you back up your current data and try a couple of cooked roms and that you experience if there is some improvement in the new rom that you picked.

If you are happy, leave the phone alone.

You can always go back to stock ROM after having a play.
Have fun flashing

Just be sure to remember that if your phone is still under warranty , that flashing a custom rom will void this warranty. If your phone breaks or crashes, AT$T and HTC will not fix it with a custom rom or spl on it. There are ways to get it back to warranty-able condition, but it is not as easy as just reflashing the stock rom.

The best WM5 ROM?

Hi.
planning to upgrade my BA, can you'll guide me with the best and the most stable ROM avaliable. prefere to have a clean ROM
Thank you
ArtZ's.
None is 'better' than the others, they all have different positive and negative which would suit different needs.
TuMa is an easy, 'runs out of the box' type ROM that afaik any user would be able to install and use without problems, it also includes many applications that a user might need which is great, but if your a bit more savvy then you may feel your choice is restriced.
Ivans is a cleaner rom designed at the afor mentioned people who want their BA to be exactyl how they like it, with thier own choice of Apps etc. it also has Extended rom support so you can have these apps instal automatically.
Logouts, afaik is just a stripped own version of TuMa, with a few elements of Ivans added, i dont know much about this rom as i have never used it, but i'm told it is a good 'mid point' betweent he first two.
Artz's rom i haven't come across or even heard much about, maybe _TB_TB_ could supply some extra information?
Midget_1990 really good explaination
My choice is Ivan's rom (I repeat this is my choice, anybody may have difrend requirement for WM5 rom) I just love WM5 to be clean like a original Microsoft rom without anything else, and the decisions for adding software to be all mine
_TB_TB_ please post short resume for ArtZ roms

By the way, the poll isn't going to help you much. It's a little bit bias as not all who voted actually tried all three ROMs. Many started off with one and continued with the updates. I personally installed Tuma only for a day or two and since then its been Ivan.
Thanks a lot guys for the help, ive decided to go with Ivans ROM but before i do, id like to know if it has any issues with the bluetooth and if i can the 128 MB storage like 2003 allowed me to.
thanks
Ivan's rom till now!!!
ivan
so far, Ivan's latest version has been the most complete and stable for me with the following major issues fixed:
* bluetooth working (headset + activesync with pc)
* wifi working
* cellular network connectivity is flawless (no disconnect after soft reset)
* media player does not skip anymore at the beginning of songs
* speed is very respectible
I haven't had to do a hardware reset or reflash since I installed this latest ROM

Why should i update my rom?

So why should we update our ROM's?
What will a new ROM do for us?
What want a new ROM do for us?
What damage can an updated ROM do to us?
The Touch HD is my first WIMO device. I started flashing new roms as soon as HSPL came out and the improvements have been insane. I've mainly played with Duttys versions. The speed has improved a bizillion times over stock roms, stability is better, etc. You in theory can brick you device if evertyhing goes wrong, but unlikely if you just read the howtos and whatnots.
I agree with all of that but really do make sure you read the wiki, SPL and ROM threads carefully first. If you brick your phone, the warranty may be void.
That said, the ROMS allow you to customise your phone to your taste and almost all are faster than the stock ROM

Does it really make sense to update from 1.14 to 1.56 ROM?

Anyone has seen real improvements in any areas?
Is it faster, better signal, new features in Manila, anything else?

For better signal you need a new radio version not a new rom. But not every new radio is better than a earlyer version!
I also used stock 1.14 rom for a long time (nearly 3 months) and since about 2 months I am updating my roms from time to time because they are faster than the 1.14 rom when you intall a good rom (I´ve installed Miri´s 6.5 V6.1 Standart at the moment and for my it´s the best rom for now).
I also tested nearly every newer 6.1 rom here and also every 6.5 build 21202 rom and for me the Miri´s rom 6.5 V6.1 standart was the best and it uses only 31% memory after reboot. I don´t know what a 1.14 rom use after a reboot?!? But that is also important for more speed and longer battery life I think!
But everybody likes different roms so you couldn´t really say whats the best one or the fastest rom.
YEAH!
It makes a lot of sense!

Could you please elaborate?
If everything works great for you on 1.14 you don't have the reason to upgrade since there are no some fancy new stuff in 1.56. I would flash the new one anyway... its official upgrade! ^^
Post with comparison of 1.14 and 1.56
I installed the 1.56 but the features are very limited. No difference in speed so i go back to Dutty 2.6 rom which is user friendly and complete rom.
I think HTC should follow XDA and make real improvement to their interface. Because most of the rom here much better than new announced rom.

Is there an IDEAL 6.5 ROM

Hi, I have seen poeople on here ask time and time again "which is the best ROM" which for me is a pointless subjective question. However I would like to ask something similar. I have been trying 6.5 ROMS for a while now based on the 6.5.3 build (start button at the bottom). All roms I have tried have had the faults, not one has been 100% yet.
I dont want loads of apps and tweaks really, nothing fancy, all I want is a fast stable ROM where all the basic stuff works as it should. I dont need eye candy or invisible this or that, just a ROM as if it came out as a stock 6.5 HD rom.
Is there such a ROM I wonder?

1. There is no stock WM6.5 ROM for HD
2. If you want stock ROM, you can use stock ROM, all other ROMs are tweaked ROMs according to Chief's taste. Almost everybody wants newest stuff, so Chiefs are making ROMs with newest builds so it's logical that in every ROM there are some bugs. If you want some fastest and most bug-free ROM I suggest you to use something based on WM6.1 or even stock ROM if you really want "a fast stable ROM where all the basic stuff works as it should"

If your looking for a wm6.5 rom close to stock, then you should try Miri's, very little done to it
hi, i've used EnergyROM for ages, but realized that is not for me. Most people say that energy rom is the top - ideal ROM.
yes, the ROM was good, but after some months i realized that i need someting more proffesional - not a fancy eye candy rom with lot of apps. i must flash the new energy rom circa once a month, because of laggs.
so, i tried Miri ROM and i can say that is the best ROM i've ever tried. Pretty clean, like normal windowz, without frickin effects... i don't flash every month because is very quick (still is, with a month old build)
Miri ROM, nothing more

[Q] Roms for the tilt 2 by htc

I have a tilt 2 with 8/30/2010 update n its suck i was wondering wats a good custom rom to use that dosent freezes up or runs super slow n were to download it at
We get at least a dozen new users asking this question every couple of weeks. The response is always the same. This is like asking a community of peers which pants are the most comfortable. It's a matter of opinion. Flashing doesn't harm your device at all (if you follow instructions), and it's simple to restore it to factory settings if you need to send it in for repairs or replacement. Therefore, with no downside to flashing ROMs, just keep flashing them until you find something you like.
Most ROM threads will tell you within the first couple of posts most of the goals of the ROM, and whether they are cooked for speed, looks, or stability. There are also pictures on most all of them so you can see it before you flash. Flashing takes minutes, so why not just spend a day or so testing a bunch of them out. I've been flashing for a long time and I still don't stick to just one ROM.

I got the same problem with this ROM from AT&T. I called HTC and they admit that there is a memory leak problem in the HTC Sense built into that version of the ROM. So does anyone have a ROM with a better (or later) HTC Sense that works, i.e. fast, no memory leak, and no lockup?
Thanks.
The best advice that can be given to those in your situation (besides HardSPL'ing your device) it to
1) Pick a ROM on this very board.
2) Flash it to your phone.
3) Use your phone.
4)
a) If you like it, then your problem is solved.
b) If you don't like it, do steps 1-3 until you get to step 4a)
Software Version 1.59.502.3
Will this new software version be a huge upgrade from my current version without losing any default features that I now have?
Consider using Wildchild's ROMs. They are pretty much stock look/feel, but faster and much more stable.

Yep. Bluetooth works great. Actually everything works great. Its a ROM where everything works as it should. Keep in mind, bloatware is removed, but all the core stuff works perfect.
Thanks - where is the best place to read up on with instructions on how to do this?
Try the flashing your first Rhodium ROM tutorial sticky.
Thanks - it appears there are several versions of the rom, so I have a lot of reading to figure out what the differences are.
Do you have any preference?

I use the 2.1 ROM from Wild Child and it is absolutely the best. Has everything I need and nothing I don't. It is fast, stable, in my mind, the way it should have been from the beginning. It is a rock solid ROM.
This is the one I was going to flash on my phone, but after hours of working on it with F2505x4 we could not get it to flash. There was an issue with the HardSPL. I ended up flashing the updated AT&T stock rom instead for now.
