I have, I use the Wireless tether app with the bluetooth PAN setup. You need to re-pair your phone with the MBP while the tethering is turned on for it to detect and setup the Bluetooth PAN stuff. I was unable to reliably to get the Wi-Fi setup to work reliably and have found the bluetooth works a treat...
YMMV, hope this helps..!
Works fine with both wifi and bluetooth on my Macbook.
Thanks for your replies. I haven't got mine yet because I just ordered it yesterday and it will still take a few days to get here, but I had tried once with a friend's and couldn't get it working. I'll post back when it arrives.
Anyone had luck with a wired tether? Cyanogen's built in one is apparently Windows only (maybe Linux too, I'm not sure). But I'm on Modaco's r21 now anyways. Tried PDA net too, but it errors out on my OS X client...not sure what went wrong there
You have the pdanet client installed on the computer also right? I know for a fact the built in and wired-tether for root users is only compatible with windows and linux.
I would try to use a virtual machine and bridge the connection, that could work.
Wired tether works flawlessly on linux. I'm sure there's some file in Mac (it's Unix after all) which can be edited to make it detect the nexus as some kind of modem. Any mac expert over here?
Jumping on board hoping for a tethering solution for macs with CM
I use wireless tether and it works flawlessly on my MBP! It is straightforward, you fire up wireless tether on the Nexus and the MBP will see it as a wireless hotspot! Select the Android wireless hotspot on your MBP using your Airport and your off and running. Could not be easier! I am using Enom's Official 1.8.1 rom!
I use PDANet over BT with my MBP and it works fine.

Is the wireless tethering feature included in CM 5.0.6?

Hello all,
I can't setup working BT tethering under Mac OSX (10.5). Could you help me ? N1 uses the newest cyanogen mod stable rom, and I have "Internet tethering" sets to on. Both devices are paired, but what should I do next on OSX side ? Should I install any 3rd party software such as pdanet ?
Is that tethering different than regular bluetooth connection using embedded phone modem ? I'm asking because in Network configuration in OSX Preferences I have BT interface, where I have to provide phone no., login and password.
Thanks in advance, Tomek.
Well I'm pretty new here, but from what I know there is no bluetooth tethering option. Sure you can pair with others bluetooth devices, but there is no stock internet tethering via bluetooth. Once again, afaik.
The stock Froyo tethering is very simple....it turns your N1 into a wireless base station. If you want to do usb tethering then you can use pdanet. I think pdanet also supports bluetooth tethering, but I've never tried it.
Thanks for your reply.
I wonder why Internet tethering option has description "... via USB/BT" ?
We're talking about CyanogenMod 5.0.8-N1
I'd love to know this as well.
The Cyanogenmod 5.0.8 changelog lists that he added BT tethering, available both via Bluetooth PAN, and Bluetooth DUN, using code from Stefan Tomanek aka wertarbyte. It's something called 'omni-tether.'
But I've yet to get it to work. I tried asking in the CM forum, but got no response.
Anyone here with a cr-48 been successful at connecting with a wireless tether app with the captivate? I am having trouble getting it to work.
I cannot get my CR-48 to connect to my DINC either, I am running Cyanogen 6.1 with the wireless tether. So I would like to know if you have found anything regarding this situation.
lucky bastards.. i'd love one of those..
Anyone have some luck on this?
Yeah, I have a droid eris rooted running a cyanogen mod rom and an unable to get the wireless tether to work on my cr-48 either. It connects to my ipad just fine so I'm assuming it is the computer. Though thinking about it, I had issues connecting it to my other laptop running linux (ubuntu 10.10) so maybe it is something in the linux build.
I think it's because wireless tether uses adhoc. I have read that people can get it to work through usb, but that is no fun. I am trying it on a Droid X. I submitted a bug feedback asking Google if the CR-48 supports adhoc and if that is the issue.
i am currently using my cr48 via the wireless hotspot app on my htc desire - leedroid v2.2f - connects without a problem but i don't have 3G in my area so it's very slow.
Hi, I'm trying to use wired tether on my tbolt but in my computer in getting the error limited or no connectivity any ideas why?
Me too. How do we tbolt users get wired tether to work?
What version you guys trying? I am using 2.0.7 and it works great.
I'm using 1.4 from this page: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/list
my bad wired.
Been having this issue all day. Downloaded another tethering app and its working great. In fact, pages lot faster.

I tried this and it fails to "Identify" in windows.
I can't seem to get this to work either, I would rather use this than the Internet Connection Mode
Anyone make any progress on this issue yet?
I'm having a similar issue. When I use Wired Tether, some of my applications cannot connect to the internet. My web browsing and e-mail works fine. When I connect via Wireless Tether, everything seems to work correctly. One particular application I'm struggling with is Tradestation. It logs me in fine, but cannot retrieve any market data it just says "loading" forever. However, when I connect to Wireless Tether, it loads instantly. Any ideas? I'm using this with Windows 7 x64 Professional. It installed the NDIS drivers included with the OS by default.
EDIT: I tried connecting with a USB760, and it works fine via dial-up and NDIS settings. No issues. I've also used a UML290 before and had no issues. Seems to be isolated to Wired Tether. Also, I had the same issue with the HTC Incredible.
I just got an N7 and really want this to work, the main reason I got it was for navi.
I have a rooted Droid 4 phone on Verizon, when I try to enable the bluetooth via FoxFi it says 'fail to open Bluetooth'. I click 'OK' to clear the dialog box and it appears that Foxfi is hanging at 'Starting Bluetooth'. I tap the box next to it and it says 'Bluetooth DUN on'.
I start PDA Net Tablet on the N7 (also rooted) and when prompted click 'DROID4' and it says 'fail to connect, make sure foxfi Bluetooth mode is enabeled on the phone side. Install foxfi if you haven't already.'
If I don't use Foxfi or PDAnet, I can get my phone and N7 to pair, but the N7 won't tether.
Any tips?
Seems like they really mucked up the networking support in ICS. USB tethering wasn't working for me either. When I dropped into adb to look around, I saw a whole bunch of oem_xxx chains and rules in iptables that I've never seen before. I flushed them all out, then manually entered a generic Masquerade rule and finally got USB tether to work. Maybe something similar is interfering with bluetooth tethering too. I dunno, I never use bluetooth tethering...
Thats way beyond my skills. I'm gonna try BT to another device, try and see if it's the d4 or n7 acting up.
FoxFi's wireless mode works fine, and OpenGarden's Mesh bluetooth tether works fine as well.
Don't know if this would work, but I used the stock tethering under settings. I was able to connect my Nexus 7 to my Droid 4 using Bluetooth. My Droid4 is rooted and it seems to work fine.
Are you on ICS?

Yup, 4.0 and up is ICS.
I've tried every configuration of settings I can think of. BT transfers work fine, but no tethering. And I don't have anything else BT capable to try tethering with.

Here is what I did.
1. Have a rooted Droid 4.
2. Enable Bluetooth on both Nexus 7 and Droid 4.
3. Pair the devices. Forgot how to do this, but I think it is in the setting of both devices.
4. Go into settings on D4. Go to Tethering. Enable Bluetooth tethering.
5. On the Nexus 7, go into settings, click Bluetooth, and choose Droid 4. Bluetooth tethering on Droid 4 should start.
I do all that and it seems to work, I can do BT transfers, phone has internet, bt tethering is checked in phone settings, bt internet is checked in tablet, but for whatever reason the tablet doesn't have a network connection.

Did you find a solution to this as I have the same issue tethering from a HTC One to 2 different tablets. One running ICS 4.0.4 and the other on Jellybean 4.1.1. They pair up no problem and transfer files but no internet connection.
I got bluetooth tethering to work with OpenGarden. IIRC, it stopped working after an update to one of my devices. Now I just use foxfi wifi when I need to tether, Haven't tried bluetooth in a while.
Hey folks seeing Verizon is screwing us with wifi tethering I need to find some kind of temp work around. My daughters school uses ipads for all their school books and work. With my S3 i would allow her to tether when we were in the truck to do her school work. I am trying to see if maybe bluetooth will work...i have tried a bunch of different apps without luck. I understand the limits of bluetooth but I need to find something...I appreciate any assistance.

I'm unable to get it to work either, at this point the paid version of FoxFi/PdaNet+ is fairly worthless. If you go to PdaNet website they give you instructions like it's going to work...not for me.
I haven't tried on an iPad, but I do use pdanet to Bluetooth to my desktop PC and then use the share internet connection to broadcast WiFi. It's definitely slower than straight WiFi tether, but it's a work around... So I can vouch that Bluetooth tether with pdanet does work, just remember you have to use pdanets client on your other device to connect. I also use the USB tether and it is by far the fastest connection, and again on the desktop I share the connection with Wi-Fi. And my desktop becomes the router.
Best of luck, and happy holidays.

Can you establish a BT Tether between your phone and a Tablet and then your tablet can connect to the internet?

I only have a galaxy tab 3 and it's running kit Kat, so unfortunately Bluetooth doesn't work with it, I can get it to work by enabling Wi-Fi tether on my old RAZR maxx HD, not in service, and connecting to the Wi-Fi, then use Bluetooth to tether to the tablet, unfortunately it's not that simple and a pain in the butt. That's why I just connect to my computer via Bluetooth and share its Wi-Fi connection.
Hope that answers your question.

Thx for the replies...i got the pdanet work around to work. Just gonna be a pita to use the laptop....argh! But it does work with pads and my nexus 7...i just keep saying it is only temp because the devs are working hard to exploit this.
