I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a list of what Android devices that are able to be rooted. If and when I decide to upgrade my phone I want to get something that can be rooted. Have any of the new devices been rooted yet?
I'm pretty sure theres ways with all of the "worthwhile" devices to get (moto droid, nexus, etc) However with all the new devices emerging I doubt you'll be upgrading to anything that is currently available now, my best advice would be stick with HTC, they always figure something out around here.

Hi all... i have an Orphan M16 tablet. i also have the HTC hero. I was wondering...can i install a cell phone rom on my tablet and actually expect it to work? The tablet is currently running 2.1-update 1 android. Are the android ROMs just like Linux where as it will find and bind the hardware that it sees or is it all specific to the different hardware? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Highly doubt it, our kernel is highly specific to our phones, not to mention the Android framework it self is specific to the device.
Have you tried to gain root access on the tablet?
I don't own, and don't have intentions on buying one, but curious if the manufacturers are so anti-root on those as well.
You'll have to have root before you can even consider putting a rom on it.
Hi,
I am currently using a Nexus One but since Google wont make a Nexus 2 I was thinking of buying a Samsung Phone in the future. The main reason being that I hear they will have dual core phones with two 1 ghz processors on board starting late this year. My main reason I want this is for running PSX4droid even better; hopefully making some games which freeze and become unplayable to work. Also wondering if someone will be able to release a PS2 emulator for Android with the extra processing power.
Any how my main concerns with switching from my Nexus One is that the other carriers and phone companies load the phones up with their crap UIs. Prime example is all this fuss over the Droid just getting 2.2 when I got that in May no problem for my Nexus One.
Will I be able to use a leaked update to update my phone ahead of the carriers without rooting? If it does will I have to use a custom Rom like Cynaogen etc to to run the update? I would prefer to just use the one step root like AndRoot and then run the update and delete bloatware off the phone. i really dont care for trying to keep custom Roms up to date. I just want the stock Android UI.

Psx4droid itself needs an update. ZodTTD has barely looked at psx4droid since its release. So I doubt with any extra power it would make a difference. PS2 emulation is difficult. It's still not that good on PC. Samsung Android Phones come with TouchWiz but there are alternitive launchers you can use if you don't like it. Cyanogen is currently unsupported with the Galaxy S phones and I don't think theres a vanilla ROM either. Someone who knows more on this please enlighten me.

After a few hours of searching, I feel like I already know the answer. I'm just wanting a more of a clarification - as there's no clear answer about this device that I can find, and nothing really updated since October.
Recently got the Verizon version of this tab (work gift) and I don't have VZW, and don't intend on getting them. and therefore don't care about the LTE aspects.
Is there indeed no root specifically for this device?
Would even the permissive kernel (for the 810) for 5.1.1 (current FW on my device anyway) not work?
Or does this all boil down to having a locked bootloader?
I really want to debloat the Verizon nonsense/notifications/activation/etc.
Probably going to be easier to just sell this one, and get a WiFi only version?
TIA!
Have you figured out how to root this because I am wondering the same thing! Google only throws junk results and this topic
I got one from my parents and the android version is 5.1.1. Could we root it?

Sure would be nice. I have a t817v running 7.0 and knox enterprise. So far I've managed to get everything to work on other users than owner except usb debugging. Home and open app buttons work and so does sdcard and camera so far. No sure how I got around knox to update to 7.0 but I did. I'll have it figured out soon. No computer so haven't tried to root or flash stock
Hey, fairly new to the mobile rooting scene. Had some issues with my Huawei a few years back, but now I wanna get into rooting again.
For starters, I have a SM-T817V, currently on Android 7.0. I understand that there may be airtight issues with rooting Verizon devices, but I was hoping someone had some sort of idea on how to get around it. Seems everyone else has W's, A's, P's, and even T's, but V's are probably the hardest to deal with right? Anyway, I'm not looking for any custom ROMs or anything, just want it rooted for adblocking and greater control. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Hello world!
New to all this so bear with me.
Curious about rooting Android phones and just learning about these tiny computers.
I'd like to start with a cheap-ish phone that is easily rootable.
I have an older Google Pixel 3 from Verizon running Android 11, but I have read that may be locked and unrootable. Has that changed recently?
What are some other cheap phones I can look at (under $100) that I can use to start learning about this? Thanks!
