I installed the android2.1,the version 2010-4-22,but find a big problem that is the backlight of the keyboard is always on.The battery is also hot...I hope the developpers can solve the problems.Good wishes for you.
There's another problem.I'm using wcdma and I can't get online.
Backligth is known problem.
You need to set up data plan settings manually.

honestly, why new threads about topics that already exists and being discussed so many times...
in the 3 main android build threads here, backlight is part of known problems in first post and if search function is used you will get many hits about data/3g/apn settings.
no offence

Last time i used the Dutty ROM .. which i could listen to music on windows media even i put my pocket pc into Standby mode ( The Upper right on/off Button ).. To
now im using the Hyperdragon IV Lolite edition ( build Feb 2009 ) .. and i can't use that great function anymore. The music will stop if you put your mobile into Standby mode..That's really waste of Battery when you only listen to music on the move and the screen still ON... Does anyone know how to do that??? which software ?
Thanks so much
I could be wrong, but I seem to remember, if you let the phone go into standby by itself, the music stays on. It only goes off if you " put " the phone into standby.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
It won't go to standby by itself while playing.
You could use AEBPlus to map a hardware key to "turn screen off", or change ROM again for one that does play during standby. It's not really clear which ones do and which ones don't, and why.

I just tried it on my Tilt, it went into standby and the music continued to play through the whole playlist. And I am pretty sure it worked on HD III at least.
the issue is genuine and has been covered in several threads here...
it has something to do with the combination of some direct show dll that is necessary if you want to use the new htc audio manager that is necessary if you want to use manila2d/touchflo2d properly...
search and be enlightened !!!
"i obviously didn't read and answered so removed post"
Sorry blaim it on the only access i have is Opera Mini.... doing my bonce in.....
you can use the windows media to map a key to turn off the screen.
I have moved away from WinMob for the same reasons as many others and now find myself searching for similar Apps for Android (T-Mobile UK G2) now....
One such app I used was the 'In Call Tweak' app which woke the phone screen up when you removed it from your ear during a call.... very useful.
Has/does anyone have information as to this type of app existing for Android or know that it's being worked on?
Many thanks and I apologise in advance if I have been a numpty and not searched hard enough.
I am not going to be helpful here. There was an app, I removed it for some reason and now I cant remember what the app was called!
I do remember that it stopped the screen going off fully and it was a bit oversensitive but otherwise ok.
Thanks for the reply..... At least I know that one existed.
Can you remember if you found it in the Market? that could narrow down the search.
Ta,
I believe that "Shake Awake" is what you're after...

You could not be more right! Thank you very much for reminding me...
Thanks guys.... I'll give it a whirl.
Having done some testing.....
The 'Shake Awake' app doesn't seem to work as well as the windows version which uses the light sensor as a trigger...
So if any one else knows of another appI could test I would be grateful.
by coincidence, i had need of it today, and it didn't seem to work at all. worked fine when I tested it using its own calibration tester thing.
I need to do some more real-call testing before I can tell if it's me, or it's broken.
You should try these settings for the HTC Hero:
select sensitivity: Like it ows you money..
enable cheek guard screen : OFF
show status : ON
outgoing calls : ON
incoming calls : OFF or ON as you like it (save would be OFF)
Don't forget to only leave this app with the back(arrow)button !
have fun!
Rubbish
This app suck major a$$ and rarely works properly.....

I'd failed to note that it only works for outgoing calls, by default, and it's a security problem if you enable it for incoming calls. I suspect that when I wanted to use it, it was an incoming call.
Can anyone explain what the cheek guard option is for? I can't find it explained anywhere...
Hi cdmackay,
I saw some reference to it in the help file but it wasn't specific but I think that it might stop your cheek from accidentially activating the screen.....
I still find it unreliable... about an 80% hit rate...
I'm not a programmer (in the true sense) but I can't see why it can't be made to work like the Win Mob version which senses the attitude of the phone together with what the light sensor is reading to check if the phone is by your ear or you are looking at it to enter data of some kind..
I might email the developer to see if this is possible.
Somebody else has also raise the same question...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553108
they have mentioned an app called keepscreen which can keep the screen alive but this can also be done by PowerManager (for calls).
thanks much
hi guys,
first of all a Huge Thaaaaaaaaaanx to every1 working on this project wich is nearly done i hope.
I wanted to share what i have experienced through android on my X1 just to make everything clear to me and ever1 who would like to try android on his X1
for me android is so close to be my primary OS on my x1, although some features r still missing but i'm using it for most of the time already.
EDIT: I'm using the Glossy version from this thread forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666735
-of course every1 knows about the battery bug which gives false battery reading most of the time, the battery drains very fast and overheats.
-"Force Close" i really hate these words, i get them on most applications i try to install or even on pre-installed such as Swype and i also get it on startup on google voice or something like that.
-Contacts r not correctly placed under letters, at least for me.
-scrolling needs to be a little smooth IMO.
-the speaker is always on which gives some strange sounds but it's not really that important unless it drains battery.
-every1 knows that camera and GPS r not working yet and i hope both of them will be working very soon.
-i tried t install some games, 5 in fact from 2 different sites 2 of them worked and they need to download some additional files to work which i haven't done yet cuz:
-I couldn't get internet to work through GPRS, i'm on Vodafone Egypt so i mailed them and waiting for their reply.
-no keypad/keyboard back light, although if u start android/ Haret while the keypad light is on it'll be always on, same for the four LEDs if u start Haret while they r on for any reason they will stay always on until u turn of android.
-I Had to choose no action for the END button so i can turn the phone off without any strange behavior but now i can't send the phone to sleep manually i just have to wait until it locks itself.
-when receiving a call, slide to answer is really annoying, i couldn't get it to slide so i have to answer using the hard key.
-Java Gives Force Close too.
-As I mentioned before i'm on Vodafone Egypt so obviously i live in Egypt and i need Arabic support which i couldn't find anywhere, Help Anyone??
------
Other than this i guess everything else works well, the keyboard is correctly mapped, dialer works well, sending or receiving TXTs, File managers, Music player, Video player, etc..
the Phone is overall stable, it only lagged once and i had to soft reset, unlike WinMo 6.5 which lags most of the time
That's all I can remember right now and I guess it's a long list but hopefully
everything will be working soon.
P.S. this is not a review so don't expect these info to be 100% accurate.
one more thing, excuse my bad English
Dont forget WiFi. WiFi works but u cant turn it off!! when u try to turn off WiFi the phone resets and when u go back to android its still on.
The only way to turn it off is to wipe data.img and start again lol.
Also using WiFi causes the battery level fluctuations, it must be interfering with something pretty badly for it to cause battery level false readings and reset the phone when turning off.
I haven't tried WIFI through Android yet but I once turned it on then off again and the phone did't reset and worked fine. maybe u r using an older/different version/build. I'm using the Glossy version from this thread : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666735

strange ...
i have no trouble at all with WIFI!
Turns on and off like it should be!
i'm using the android from the "Howto run android on x1" topic.
my biggest bugg is that i cant send sms/mms
have u tried changing the SMS Center from +xxxxxxxxxxxx to 00xxxxxxxxxxxx in WinMo before running android?
it's said that this is the reason, i haven't tried to send SMS using android but after changing the SMS Center Number i couldn't send SMS using WinMo so i changed it back again.
i did change the + into 00
but that didn't work for me

Yes men but its not normal someone to try calling me 20 times a day and never to be able to call me also not missed call is here and the phone wake up by itself... this things never heppand befor. also the device wake up sometimes in around 2-3 a clock on the night on this time nobody will call me and never someone call me in the last 10 years..
Now i disable everything..
I disable the Actyvesync, all Data like MMS ISP GRPS etc.. also Desable Location Services now will see do the device will wake up..
I think that is posible to wake up if there is abalible some Location services and need to transfer data etc..
Also i do my Operator to be choiced manual to not search for new network and also i set it to GSM mode.. not Auto not Any other just Simple GSM mode..
If after all this the device still wake up.. I don`t know what to do.

Hi there,
I had the same issue from time to time and the phone would wake me up in the middle of the night.
I tried disabeling the data-connection before going to sleep and since then I didn't have the problem anymore.
Maybe this will work 4 u?
Good luck!
OMG i think i need to call Exorcist to chek out my Blackstone
I disable Almost Everything
Disabled: My Location, Active Sync, Auto Search for Network, Toggle All DATA conecctions like GPRS, ISP etc, Disabled
And my Device still WAKE UP by Itself Random when HE want... i can`t understand WHY
You need to look at your problem logically...
Some 'event' is waking up the phone..
This could be a genuine event.... sms / phone call / touch screen / button / wifi discovered etc...
OR it could be a false event caused by some malfunction.... a button that's 'sticky', some software on your phone attempting to create some connection etc...
I would suggest the following to TRY to identify the issue...
1) Reflash your device
2) Do NOT setup any APN / GPRS connection at all
3) Do not configure any weather settings or wifi etc etc
4) Turn ON the airplane mode
5).... wait and see if the problem still exists
If it does, then you DO have some issue
If it doesn't, then turn OFF airplane mode (to connect to your network) but do NOT do anything else...
see if the problem exists... if it does, then it's related to network activity
do the same with Wifi ON...
Then weather ON
then start adding apps etc
Just attack the problem logically...

Freaky thing, but there can be a million reasons (not common though), like your neighbour having installed a new router, some trash of any app you tried and was not completely uninstalled, and so on.
TheBrilliantMistake is absolutely right, that's how I would deal with a problem like that.
Anyway, please post wathever you can find.
Good luck.
I think i found why my device wake up itselfs.. maybe this is was a ROM`s problem i have this wake up in TOPIX 6.5 Sense 2.1 and also in few of the latest NRG ROM`s..
Befor 48 Hrs i flash with the new Kwbr for Touch HD 1.7 its a WM 6.6 Build 21907 with Touch Flo 2.1XXX Manila and now since 48 Hrs the device didn`t wake up by itself..
Im using always the same settings, the same application and etc and till now no Wake Up.. so i think is posible to have something in the ROM that make my device Wake Up by itself.. because like i say i saw this when i flash NEW Nrg ROM... and till this i never drop the device or have any problems with it.

Got my phone today with 10d on it. Almost immediately got an update to 10f and exactly the same - the front key lights always turn off after what I believe to be 1.5 seconds, no matter how I set it
Hm...same here. Lights turn off after 2-3 sec.

Not exactly, no. That setting gives you the option of '1.5 seconds' or 'Always off' and only applies to how the lights work during Power-Save mode, not normally.
Nice try to make us look stupid though :banghead:

I'm not sure if you are intentionally trolling or just stupid.
It is quite clearly stated that setting to 'Always On' makes no difference at all.
Do you have v10f on your phone? Do you even have this type of phone?
Calling all owners. Is there anyone out there?
OK, so I have raised this with LG Tech Support and they are telling me that it is an "Isolated Issue". Here is the copy of my emails with them;-
ME: I purchased this phone yesterday in the UK. I immediately got an OTA update to v10f. With this version there appears to be a bug. The "Front key light" setting doesn't change anything. I want to set it to "Always On" so that the lights are on whenever the screen is, but the button lights still go out after about 2 seconds.
This appears to be a software problem as other people on the forums have reported the same issue.

THEM: Based on the information you have provided me with, and after reading through your query, I would recommend that this is a standard setting on the handset unfortunatly unless in use the LED lights will power down, if you touch the LED lights they should illuminate again but unfortunatly there isnt a setting that you can change. Unfortunatly we are unable to do anything here at LG currently but we will raise this as a issue and you will have to wait for another update or bug fix if this is a software issue.

ME: This is definitely NOT a standard setting. Under software v10d this worked perfectly - as long as the screen was on, the buttons were lit up. The setting has the option of "Always On" and the fact that it doesn't work means that something is broken in the code. I have looked on XDA-Developers.com and found that I am far from the only person with this problem. There is also a partial solution which may point to the problem;-
"EDIT: OMG, changing the content of this file to 1 did fix it instantly! I'm not sure, if this app caused this behavior to happen but if anyone has the same issue, the exact location of the file is:
/sys/devices/platform/button-backlight/leds/button-backlight/br_maintain_on
EDIT 2: the file will be set to Ɔ' on each reboot, even with read-only permissions and when this app is not installed. It looks like this could be a firmware bug?
Maybe this will help - but at the moment I am seriously considering returning my phone and getting something by a different manufacturer as this is more than just annoying. Having those buttons flick off so quickly is a real nightmare when you are actually using the phone.

Unfortunalty i must inform you that your handset is covered by LG for 12 months under warrenty but you will fully void this by changing the codeing or altering the data inside the handset in anyway, this will also mean that the LG engineers will not repair this as it will be deemed as rooted.

Can anyone out there confirm that they are running v10f and that the screen buttons work correctly for them. It would be interesting to tie this down and see if it is a problem with all v10f versions, if it is location specific, or if it maybe only effects certain batches of the phones.
---------- EDIT -----------
Thanks to this post by k1337Ultra, it appears that this can be fixed by disabling and then re-enabling the Automatic Brightness. Hope this helps others - very annoying though to find the solution buried in a totally irrelevant thread
---------- EDIT 2 -----------
And it works after a reboot as well. Yippee!!!!!
Good news for that you have fixed your problem .. Don't blame me with that because I am using V10C firmware and it is superb with no problem on LED buttons

Thanks - it would also have been helpful if you had either;-
1) mentioned that you were using an old version of software
2) actually read the OP and my post, realised that we were talking about a problem only in the latest version, and realised that posting would be fairly pointless.
its nice to see im not the only one that has the issue!! similar to you, if I enable the auto brightness the buttons stay lit fine, soon as I put it back, it goes back to going off after a few seconds!very annoying given they are not real buttons so can be a pain to find, grrrrr!
