Does anyone know where the system and app configuration files are.
I'm trying to do 2 things:
1. Manually edit the default program list.
2. Manually edit a few different application config files to alter default configurations.

does anybody know how to set the program files dir from /program files to /programme so that all Programs will be installed into /programme by default.

I don't think it's possible to force all programs to go into specific folder (I think you have localised version of windows - german?) Some apps use their own paths (without checking system defaults) you just cannot change - same problem exists in localised german Windows XP - even though c:\Programme is default, some apps just stick to c:\Program files.
You can use WinCE Cab Manager to edit your cab files and change the Default Install Dir.
Since I installed the latest official updates, I find that I can't remove the default Java midlets. When I click-hold, the 'uninstall' selection is grayed out. How do I remove Tiger Woods and all the other crap?

you need to copy over a file from \windows\appdb to your computer and edit it w/ a hex editor to change:
- preinstalled=Y to preinstalled=N
- uninstall=N to uninstall=Y
for every applet you want to remove... copy back over and uninstall your apps.
MAKE A COPY of the original file in case you mess up.
I'm not having any luck finding 'uninstall' in any of the files in that directory- are you talking about the *.db files?
The file is the selector.utf. I had the same problem.
Do you know how can I put my name and my registration code into my package ( for kitchen) or how can I put them into the cab file so I dont need to type the code everything I do the hardreset. THX
If your software keep the reg info in the registry, just add this key to your package's rgu; if on the other hand the info is in a file, just add the file and don't forget to add the file into initflashfiles

I'm cooking my own ROM and it is going well. But I'm stuck at setting default settings for applications.
I have tried to decompile the apk's, edit the config and other stuff, compile it again, but the apk doesn't want to install. I've tried to sign them and not sign them, it doesn't seem to fix it.
I have tried apk manager 4.9 both in Windows and Linux, and some other tools too. I have also tried to just replace the config.xml or similar file with WinRAR when editing, the apk still installs, but the settings are not there.
I've also tried to add /data/data/app.name/* folders to the update.zip and have it copy to the internal sd just like /data/app, also did not work.
Can someone please explain to me how I can change the default config of an application? Such as AWDLauncher.

Successfully rooted note 10s, but if i try to edit build.prop file in system or vendor folder, i take a zero length file...
How it can be edited?
1. use a decent file manager (i reccomend Material Files)
2. you need to remove some useless stuff, or else it won't save
