i am really new to this and have my phone on kernel 2.6.33.2-cyanogenmod cyanogenmod-5.0.6-n1 build epe54b as of last night and dont know about these commands i see on google. i tried something called terminal but i am really lost on using it. it gives me a denied permission. i might be using it wrong but i dont know if it is what i should use to uninstall these. any help?
you can use Titanium backup to delete the apps...download it from the market and then open the app, go into backup/restore tab, and click on whatever app you want to remove and just un-install
hope this helps
thanks i just loaded that and when i clicked the backup/restore tab nothing shows up...
i think when you first open up Titanium backup, it tells you to hit "Problem" so the busybox can be downloaded and then the app needs to be restarted
so try that first, open the app, click on problem, then it will download something, then restart the app
i have but still no apps. i uninstalled and disablled apps2sd and reinstalling both apps and that worked! thanks for recommending the apps and the replies!!!

Ok, so I installed cyanogen's latest and greatest, but handcent kept force closing.
First, I uninstalled and reinstalled via market, still force closed.
Then, I uninstalled via manage applications. No problems there.
Went to reinstall from the market, but it says its already installed, with the open/uninstall buttons greyed out. Its definitely not on my phone, and I checked the sd card to make sure it wasn't there either. Any ideas?

The best and easiest way is to reinstall a backed up copy of handcent.
Then you can uninstall/reinstall as you wish from the market
or....
You need to first delete the handcent data folder in /data/data
Then delete /data/data/com.android.vending
reboot
You will need to accept the Market TOS again
The first way is the safest and easiest, but #2 will work with no other alternative.
If you have no backup, and don't want to try step 2, PM me with your email and I'll send a copy of Handcent.

That would be awesome, thank you. I tried to find another place to d/l it from online last night, but was unable to.

Use any option it gives you to uninstall the app, then reinstall it.
Similar issue.
I am having a similar issue.
I installed Toggle Settings (Donut) on my G1 (CM 4.2.5 I'm not using apps2SD) and then decided to uninstall it. Now when I go to the market and my downloads it shows that I have Toggle settings installed. The problem is that I don't and it gives me no options to do anything (open and uninstall are grayed out). Other apps install and uninstall normally with the market updating their status correctly. I don't know what to do to correct this. If you know how to remedy this, please help me.
I apologize if this is an inappropriate place to post this but I serched and this was the closest topic to my problem that I found.
Try finding it in the app-private folder or if its in any of yours apps as a .zip file. If so, back it up and delete it from the phone. see if that resolves the issue. if not try deleting the market cache

Thanks for replying... It's not in any of my other apps and I've tried deleting the market cache (and deleting the market cache and power cycling the phone) and that isn't working. Where is (or should be) the app-private folder? I'm not finding that folder.
I'm starting to feel like my only hope is an update being put out for the app and then hopefully I can download that and go from there.

app-private should be in the same folder as app
Had a similar problem
I wiped my phone and did a frech Cyan 4.2.5 install to help clear a problem with Gmail. I used backup for root users to get all my apps back, but it left a couple out - leaving me in the same situation you guys are in - can't install/uninstall from the market as the buttons are greyed out, but it's not actually on your phone.
i eventually stumbled over a solution of sorts when i reverted back to a themeless 4.2.5 - for me flashing the update again sorted out my market data and allowed me to install the missing apps again. either that, or go into a nandroided backup, extract the apks and manually push them to your current setup - buttons are magically no longer greyed out.
Thanks guys.
Thanks for your guys assistance.
I found another solution that worked. I had one of my coworkers download Astro File browser and then the Toggle settings app. I just backed up his toggle settings with the built in apps manager in Astro and then put his memory card in my phone and restored toggle settings with Astro. Then I went to the market and uninstalled toggle settings through the market and bingo no more ghost of Toggle settings problem. Thanks again for your assistance.
I've been having a lot of problems lately....I've searched all over Google and tried many different versions of Swype but get the same result...it keeps force closing itself whenever I try to use it.
It worked flawlessly before when I first got the phone! I decided to try the new Swype beta and stupid me I didn't backup Swype with Titanium (though I did make a backup with Titanium but not sure how to use it or if it'll solve the Swype problem) and installed the new Swype Beta from the official site but it gave me:
"Sorry!
The application Swype (process com.swype.android.inputmethod) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
dumpstate_app_201012212300_com_swype_android_inputmethod.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log."
I restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled many times but it's the same outcome I want my swype back!!! T.T I THINK it comes with Android 2.1? I'm not sure...it was on the phone when I bought it 2nd hand.
Regardless I'm sad regular keyboard SUCKS comparatively.
Thanks in advance.
Running Android 2.1 unlocked and rooted.
Same Problem here !
Try this;
Uninstall Swype, also delete libSwypeCore.so from your phone! Restart your phone, and reinstall Swype through an apk

More specifically, uninstall swype using an application like Titanium backup.
Also, delete /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so using root explorer or ADB. Then reboot your phone and install swype like an apk.
I love the quick responses...but strangely enough...
I have done those things. I deleted the libSwypeCore.so BUT it comes back whenever I look into root Explorer and I have even tried to delete it multiple times! And yes I did delete it and try rebooting (powering off device and powering back on) but it still remains! When I delete it it's gone until I exit the folder...then it comes back
I'm stuck with SlideIT for now which kinda sucks in comparison...I want to use the new swype, which they made open beta btw, but sigh
And I've tried multiple APK versions but to no avail...even 1.5, 2.1.0, 2.15, 2.6.5.
Using SlideIT for now and it pales in comparison to Swype Any ideas?
All I can say is that I had the exact same problem as you, and deleting libSwypeCore.so was the magical break through for me. Like canuck had posted, I uninstalled with Titanium Backup, and then deleted libSwypeCore with Root Explorer.
Hopefully someone else comes in with another solution for you.
yea I tried to delete the libSwypeCore.so but it would come back LIke a bad rash...a really quick instant bad rash...I delete it and as soon as I enter the folder again it's there again!!!
Is there another way to delete it permenantly?

Hmmm, I don't know if this is your problem, but maybe you forgot to click "Mount R/W" before you tried to delete the libSwypeCore.so file? Also, make sure you click "Mount R/O" after you're done deleting.
to be honest, i had the same problem. I just resorted to installing a custom rom.
just to make sure.. are you uninstalling the program before you delete the file. If you are forgetting to uninstall it first, could be a good reason as to why the file keeps returning.
If not, then not quite sure myself. Using a custom rom and if you are, could just backup apps/data and reinstall the rom... just another idea..
Zug
I'm on a fascinate...
but similarly....
mine keeps returning upon reboot too. Tried reinstalling / uninstalling with manage apps / reinstalling / uninstalling with titanium... (and deleting libSwypeCore.so after each uninstall... ) only to find libSwypeCore.so back after both restarts. Swype installs fine but when I try to run it it FC. Also get a FC for the swype process when booting up my phone even though slideit is currently set to default.
arg
i dont wanna reflash / format. im lazyyy
Edit: I figured out why I couldn't get rid of it. Root explorer... Even though when I navigate to the folder it said R/w, when using the search function to find the file within the folder...(as I'm too lazy to scroll down) it wasn't letting me delete it with R/W. I had to just scroll down to the file and longpressdelete... i didn't realize the search results wouldnt be in RW even though it said RW at the top.
FYI... The beta installed properly and no longer FC's
thanks, guys. i was able to get it to work. i was having the same problem. i made sure to delete the files using root explorer, i cleared the swype date, force closed then unistalled. then redownloaded the swype beta that i was using. everything is working good now.
im using an atrix.
tried all of this reinstalled and still getting buzzing and forced closes got to be a way to get this to work
I just installed Cog 3.4 and after the install i restored missing apps and data but 90% of my apps did not restore. They show up in tibu gray with a line drawn through them. If i click on one and try to restore it i get a pop up that says "what would you like to restore" any help would be great.
Click problem button on bottom. Make sure busybox is installed. Make sure usb debugging enabled
Reboot
Ok i just did that and it is still not working, Guess i will just have to download them all again from the market.
Could re download tibu
Did you try "restore user apps" instead of "missing apps?"
Also, make sure you have downloaded TiBu and TiBu pro from the market so you can do batch backups.

Yes i did try that option and same thing happens it goes through the process and says batch complete, but they are not installed.
Tibu is preloaded in Cog so i will have to remove it and try downloading from the market again. I will let you know if it works.
Ok just reinstalled Tibu and still no go. Everything seems to be working just fine other than Tibu. I give up.... off to the market to download all of my missing apps. Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm coming from autnooter 3.0 to CM7. After successfully installing CM7 and Gapps, I went into the market and downloaded my paid Titanium Backup Pro app. It downloaded fine, but it is NOT in the app drawer.
I went into manage applications and it is showing that it is there, but obviously i can't launch the program.
do i need to do something special to get this to show up in my app drawer? Do I need to check allow non-market apps or something and then reboot?
would love to restore a lot of my apps from my e-clair ROM.
I didn't have that problem and I followed the same upgrade path that you did.
One thing I would suggest is going to the market/my apps and see if TB is 'installed' there. If it is, when you click on it, it will give you the option to open it. Try that.
On my old auto-nooter installs, I noticed that some apps didn't appear until reboot, others had to be manually moved to system/apps with root explorer.
I am totally loving CM7 and haven't had any serious problems at all. Using Aldiko to read my epubs works great.
Yes, I did try to "open" it from the market and yes it says its "installed" in the market as well.
the "open" button in the market is "greyed out", meaning i cannot press it. I will try a reboot when I get home and will also d/l root explorer and try moving it that way.
The other thing is, and this I don't know, is The Pro just a key? So you have to install the free version as well? A lot of 'pro' apps work that way.
you may be right. Did you d/l the free version first? then the "key" (aka PRO)?
do you remember?
I'm still just using the free version. This is what I used to restore my apps after the CM7 upgrade. The downside to the free version (I think) is that the files are restored 1 by 1.
Yes, you need to install the free version from market, at which point it should recognize you have a pro key. Then, just reload TB (by pushing the menu button when in TB, then "reload application"...or just reboot) and it should use your pro key just fine. I've done this several times in the past with no issues.
