ekh... bought a nexus one off craigslist. it was already rooted. i used it for a day and then decided i didnt want to keep it, so i decided to do a hard reset. it's now stuck on the screen with the four different colors (nexus symbol) and the unlocked lock on the bottom. i've done the clear storage by holding the volume down (or trackball) and pressing power. i've tried to go through all those settings and cleared everything, but it still wont load..
any ideas? do i need to re-flash the original rom? can i flash a rom if it doesnt boot up? please help, as this is my first android phone and i've had it all of 24 hrs.. thanks
omar
Omar,
Please read the second sticky post in the forum "[ROM] Original Shipping - Tutorial" This has all the files and will tell you the steps to return your phone to the original shipping rom.
You can skip to step 5 once you download the necessary files. To get into fastboot mode on the phone do the following:
1. Power off the phone
2. Hold down the volume down key and press the power button (continuing to hold the volume down key)
3. Release both and it should boot into a white screen with the top, highlighted, option being fastboot
4. Press the power button to enter into fastboot mode. The screen should say fastboot-usb in red
Once you see fastboot usb you can begin to erase and flash the roms per the instructions.
FYI: The fact that your phone is booting to the four colored X logo means that your phone is not bricked. It is simply in some sort of boot loop. A bricked phone will show nothing on the screen and will not connect to the computer in any way shape or form.
if anyone can help me via AIM i would really appreciate it. i think i'm just about there, just need a little more info

i'm trying to figure out this fastboot thing.. i got the USB thing to work, so now my computer detects the phone. i downloaded fastboot but it keeps giving me some error message that it cant find some file... any ideas from there? thanks
omar
ok.. found and downloaded the sdk, and now when i open fastboot, it just closes right away.. wtf am i doing wrong?
You are running fastboot from a command prompt right?
To open a command prompt type "cmd" into run.
Posting a thread in the right forum might get you some help. =]
Hope you have a custom recovery (most likely). Hold volume down and push the power button. Then on the white screen, press volume down once and select Recovery by pressing Power. Hopefully, you'll have Amon Ra's recovery. If so, then you will be sent into this recovery screen where you can turn on USB mode which will allow you to connect to your computer so you can download a ROM onto your SD Card. Do that.
Then you disconnect...wipe everything under the 'Wipe' settings...then Flash the new ROM. You should be good to go from there!

Hi, really hoping someone can help me here.
I have a Nexus One that was running a stock Android 2.2 FRF91, and I want to go to a CM ROM.
I've been following the wiki guide here.
I have completed the "Unlocking the Bootloader" section.
I have chosen to use Amon_Ra's recovery. When I ran the command this is what I got back in the command window, so it looks to have been successful.
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (3962 KB)... OKAY [ 0.764s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 1.576s]
finished. total time: 2.340s
I was then able to update the Radio. Now I'm stuck trying to flash the ROM.
This is exactly what I do leading up to my current problem.
Switch the phone on holding down the trackball.
Select Bootloader option.
Select Recovery.
At this point it reboots, but I am left with a little green android man and a white triangle with an orange ! mark.
HELP! Thank you.

Simple:
After install recovery reboot holding VOL DOWN and enter first time in Amon-RA.
Now "flash update.zip"----->CyanogenMod6-RC2 (it contains root etc.)
If you reboot and retry to enter in recovery you'll have little android in triangle...that's because ota FRF91 has a script in system/etc/install-recovery.sh that at every boot change at default recovery. If you have root you can delete that file, but if you haven't you have to do that:
1. install recovery
2. at reboot enter directly in recovery (at first time)
3. install cyano rom
4. reboot
5. now you can flash amon-ra recovery and it is forever
Hello, and thanks for your quick reply!
Still problems though...I'll note exactly what I'm doing.
Phone is not connected to USB and is switched off.
Hold down VOL DOWN and Power button.
Press VOL DOWN and then press in the Power button to select RECOVERY.
Now the phone reboots and I'm back to the little green man with the triangle and orange ! mark.

So..
Enter in fastboot and reload recovery with fastboot, at the first reboot enter in recovery....first time you'll enter in AMon-RA and do what i wrote up.
Sorry, so just to be clear...
Are these the steps to follow?
Connect phone to PC.
Power on phone holding down the power button
From the PC running the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
At first reboot after this hold down VOL DOWN to flash CM update.zip
Is that correct?
Thanks.

No (IMPORTANT (not reboot completely):
1. connect phone and POWER UP holdin VOL DOWN
2. enter in fastboot and reload amon-ra recovery first
3. at reboot (after you have loaded amon-ra) VOL DOWN and choose recovery with POWER button----------->AMOn-RA
...............understood?
OK, so I'm doing what you say.
I have the phone connected to the PC.
I turn it on holding the VOL DOWN button.
I get to a white screen with 3 green android men and 4 options (FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, and SIMLOCK).
From a command prompt on the PC I try to run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, but this just sits there saying ( waiting for device ).
If I try to enter the RECOVERY mode it reboots back the point point where I was stuck to begin with.
I really appreciate your help, please stick with me! Thanks.
WAIT! Think I've got it working...will report back shortly.

When you are in blank screen you have to see fastboot in red.
In prompt have you written: fastboot devices?
It gives you such a "HTC 123455666..." If yes you have to load recovery like first time...after you have to choose recovery in blank screen if possible directly with POWER BUTTON...i hope..
Hurrah! Think it looks to be complete now.

Just a little help
Hey guys, sorry for a new post. I did a search and wasn't totally sure about what i found so i figured i'd start a new post and get some help.
I bought a nexus off a guy for cheap but it was stuck at the fast boot (?) screen
image
the trackball doesnt work so i cant select anything. the only thing i can do is pull the battery out to shut it down. what can i do to fix this phone? I have no idea what to do to an android. I switched yesterday from wm6.5 so you're going to have to explain everything.
thank you!
You search the forums. That's what you do.
Trackball might be effed up. Replace that
That phone is unlocked
You get to that screen by holding down the trackball when you press power. (Like the above poster said)
Make sure the volume buttons or the trackball are not stuck in a pressed state.
I thought to navigate that screen you use the volume button and power button to select. Trackball doesn't work in that menu

thanks for the helpful comments guys. :]
i meant to also add that none of the buttons work either, volume or power button. i tried to flash amonra's recovery thru cmd prompt but i couldnt do much after that. i couldnt get into the adb prompt. it says the device isnt found, although fastboot promt found the device fine. anyway so after i flash the amonra recovery img i can't get into recovery mode. holding the power and vol down button gets me to the hboot (i believe it is?) but again, i cant navigate the menu with any buttons to put it into recovery mode so i'm pretty much stuck here.
and just to clarify, I have done a few searches as i've said and I didnt feel sure enough that the problems mentioned were my problem so that is why I'm asking for help here.
You should not go to any forum and feel bad for posting or have to say over and over that you did a search. There are many people that can do better and some will show up, hopefully with answers that are not painful to someone who has purchased a new phone... cheap. I would flash amon ra which you can do adb without using any of the phone hardware buttons and then see where you are at. There are many posts on installing amon ra and the instructions are also in the offical thread. With any luck you just have a hosed recovery and the flash will get you rolling.
Can you not navigate the fastboot/hboot screen with the volume buttons? If not then you're gonna run into serious problems. Make sure both the volume buttons and trackball are clear. You can clean the trackball by pressing it in with a piece of cloth and pushing it in different directions while pressed in, this should clear most of the junk on it.
You can also clean the volume buttons and power button a little better by removing the battery cover. Good luck bud.
trackball+power -> fastboot mode.
volume+power -> recovery mode. if you see androids on skates you have the stock recovery.
trackball+volume+power held = reboot
Recovery, boot etc can be flashed from fastboot only.
just to clarify, the first thing that pops up when i press just the power button is the fastboot. i dont have to press anything else, just power.
i flashed amonra recovery img while i was on fastboot mode from my computer (cmd i used was fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.1.img) and it was successful.
Then i tried to put it into recovery mode w the command adb shell reboot recovery. It said that the device wasn't connected.
when i input the cmd fastboot devices i see my device connected, but when i input adb devices it says its not connected.
So i figured I'd put it into recovery mode on my phone by pressing volume+power. I get to the hboot screen with the three androids on skateboards (i realize the screen looks the same as fastboot but the selectable options here are different) but the volume buttons, trackball, power buttons don't work so i can't select "recovery" on the phone.
so this is where i'm stuck
It sounds like you have a stuck or f..d up trackball.
P_
I have the same problem has anyone figured out a solution?

You cannot use ADB commands when you are in the bootloader (i.e., fastboot) screen. You need to be booted into the ROM or into the recovery for those commands to work.
What I find difficult to understand is how come your volume buttons work to boot into the bootloader, but don't work once you are there?
Try flashing each partition from a stock FRG33 ROM (from here). Unzip the files, and flash the boot, system and data images using fastboot (e.g., fastboot flash system system.img) and then try to reboot normally.
Hey
I used cwm to install Darkys Rom 10.2, it said successfully installed unfortunately when I reboot it shows the at&t logo and then goes back to the recovery menu. I tried installing it a second time same result. When I try to go into download mode using these methods
"2. The Power + Volume Down Method: If the phone doesn't display the "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture on power up:
Remove and replace the battery.
Hold the Volume Down button while pressing the power button until the "Download Mode" picture displays. Then release the buttons.
3. If the phone is "semi-bricked"; i.e., the "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture appears on power up (perhaps from a bad ROM flash):
Be sure the Samsung USB drivers for the phone are installed on your computer.
Remove and replace the battery.
Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable. The "phone-exclamation mark-computer" picture should display on the phone's screen.
Hold the Volume Up+Volume Down+Power buttons down simultaneously. The screen should go blank, then the picture should appear again. When the screen goes blank a second time, release the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume Up+Volume Down buttons down.
4. If the phone does not allow you to go into Download mode after trying the aforementioned steps above you can try this method to "force" it into download mode:
Be sure the Samsung USB drivers for the phone are installed on your computer.
Remove the Battery, SIM Card, and any External SDCards.
With the Battery removed plug the USB into your phone.
While holding both the Up+Down Volume button and the USB is plugged into your phone - put the battery back into the back of the phone. You should see the Download mode screen pop up.
If you see the Powered Off Charging screen - attempt the above steps again."

it never goes into download mode, it simply shows an image of a battery. After a while it goes into recovery mode.
Any idea what I can do? I am still able to get into CWM, is there any way for me to get another ROM file in there so that I can try flashing another?
I tried putting in an external SD card but I can't browse it to use other rom files
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful
Thanks

In CWM, go to mounts and storage to mount your SD card and put another ROM on. Also, Darky 10.2 REQUIRES lagfix for data AND system which could be your problem now. Enable them if not and reflash

Hello LG-2x owners !
I am in a big mess!
I just installled a new rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699066
My Problem:
When I start my phone , it stucks in the boot. The bootlogo appears, it loads a few seconds and then it just reboots. Over and over again. No deal, I dealed allready with a thousands of bootlops but I cant enter the recovery menu in this case.
Why not? I push all the buttons like Power + Volume Up or Power + Volume down but it enters the boot.
I am so confused and out of plan.
How could I fix it?
Please help me XDA-Community!
Are you pressing the volume and power button past the first LG logo (white only) until you get to the second LG logo (with blue halo in background)?
Try releasing the keys only after you see the second logo.

Thanks for your reply, buddy
I really appriciate it.
The logo wih the colorfull background is not appearing. Thats the main problem, the entrance to the recovery is not there anymore. No colorfull lg logo, nothing.
Its like this: I push the requiered buttons at the very beginning, while pushing this buttons the phone starts. The LG Logo appears (without Background) and the bootlogo appears from this rom.
You might have to reflash your phone and start all over again. Check here for an emergency flash.
Assuming you have it backed up, you can also try this to hard reset:

Do you have take out the accu, take back in, and then hold power and vol-down till 2. boot logo appeared?
Gesendet von meinem HTC One S mit Tapatalk 2
it cant be more easy.
after you pull out the battery you press vol down vol up and connect with data cable to pc. nothing appears, but you go to control panel, then to system and there to device manager, you will se list of all devices and one of them will have some symbol. i think its question mark, you will click it with right mouse button and choose update driver, you will click find driver manually and find the directory with driver extracted from downloaded archive. click ok and driver is installed.
then you can navigate in windows terminal to folder with extracted archive and run the *.bat script with internal or external storage. you can download archive with whole rom on other threads or forums and by run the *.bat load new rom t phone

INSTALLING NVFLASH UTILITY (USING WINDOWS 7)
1. Download NVFlash Utility and Drivers here, and extract to a location of your choice (e.g.: Desktop);
2. Turn off your phone, remove the battery, SIM card and external SD;
3. Hold VolUp + VolDown buttons at the simultaneously and plug in your USB cable (if you use a desktop computer, I recommend using your rear USB ports). Your phone will show a black screen and you should see Windows trying to install a new device, but failing.
4. Right click on the notification showing a failed driver instalation (bottom right corner of your screen), and select 'Update device driver';
5. Select 'Browse computer...', and then select 'Let me pick...', followed by 'Have disk'.
6. Browse to directory you extracted the the zip you downloaded earilier, and point to 'usbpcdriver';
7. Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC);
8. Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices';
If everything goes alright, you should now be prepared to flash your phone using NVFlash.
FLASHING YOUR DEVICE
This is the easy part.
Just go to the folder where you extracted the zip, and run 'flash'.
Wait until the utility works its magic and when complete, disconnect your phone from the USB cable, put the battery back in and SIM Card, and reboot to the stock LG ROM.
First boot might take a while, but it will eventually boot and that's all there is too it.
Hope this helped!

yes root its possible for htc one mini 2.
1- use htc dev website to unlock bootloader and choose all other supported phones. Follow directions.
2-Flash recovery TWRP and flash superuser.zip.
Google it or find in forum tutorials for 2nd step.
I've tried searching, but all I can find is either out of date and stating there's no solution yet, or applies to the original Mini, not the Mini 2.

1- Download the TWRP Recovery file here and copy it to the C:/Unlock folder created in the Bootloader Unlock Tutorial or the folder you use for HTC unlock
2- Now use the Shortcut “Windowskey + R” and type cmd into the textfield. Press OK to start the Shell.cmd
3- Now we need to navigate to our Unlock Folder by using the command “cd c:/Unlock“ (without “”) and pressing enter
4- Power off your HTC One Mini and boot it back up while holding the Volume Down and Power-Key until you see the bootloader
5- Select “Fastboot” with the volume keys and press power to select
6- Connect your HTC One Mini through original usb to your pc
7- In the Command-Window enter the command „fastboot flash recovery "twrp-2.7.1.0-20140802-memul.img“ (without „“) and press enter
8- The Installation should only take a few seconds and will give a short reports at the end
9- Your HTC One Mini should now have the TWRP Custom Recovery installed
TWRP will try flash SuperUser, it didnt work for me so,
Send UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip to sdcard and use TWRP to flash it
You must have updated drivers (install htc sync) and original usb cable.

Try and reboot the phone by holding volume down and power for 10 seconds.
That doesn't do anything. Seems like the only button that does anything is power, and that just turns the screen on if it's off, or to full brightness if it's dimmed (which it does for a second or two before turning off).
I've kept the screen on and managed to run the battery down to 52%. My plan at this point is to run it completely flat, forcing the phone to shut down, then charge it up a bit and see if I can boot. Beyond that, I'm out of ideas and even if I manage to reboot I don't see how TWRP's going to magically start working.
It boots into Android by default, right? And you have to use the Fastboot menu to get to TWRP? No idea how I got to it the first time, actually, and it's been years since I've used it on my old phone.
EDIT: It's TWRP v2.7.1.0. According to the website, the newest version, 2.8.0.0 "[fixes] a bug that caused weird graphics and touch issues". Should I be using this version instead? It doesn't seem to support the Mini 2.
Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394744
Try holding power under a bright light..
turn screen off. and under bright light turn it back on. see if it works
No dice. Down to 15% battery at this point anyway, shouldn't be too much longer before it's flat. Then, fingers crossed it works.
How do I get back to TWRP? Fastboot then select 'recovery' (I think I recall that being one of the options)?

The battery finally went flat, but then as soon as I plugged the phone in it booted into TWRP...which still doesn't work. Have unplugged it again. No idea where to go from here. Tried the "adb reboot bootloader" command from the thread you linked to, and all it did was boot right back into TWRP.

It doesn't seem to support the Mini 2.

this happened to me, just hold power + vol down + vol up for 10 seconds, phone will reboot.
edit: whilst doing this dont have the usb plugged in. I have noticed having the usb plugged in, a restart sends it straight back to twrp - hence the same issue.
It reboots straight into TWRP when plugged into either the wall or my computer, and just shuts down when not plugged in at all. Can't get it to boot at all, with either volume down + power or just power, but the second I plug it in it boots TWRP.

ok try, plugging laptop usb port and hold power + vol down + vol up together for 10secs.
Left it plugged in for a while, let the battery build up, and managed to get it booted into Android. So that's a start, at least.
So: fastboot, "fastboot erase recovery" then "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"?

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img should override. i would also download another version just in case that one is corrupted
this is where i got it originally

You mean another version from another source, or another copy via that link? Not sure where else to get a copy; I assume you get links from the TWRP website after selecting your phone model but the HTC One Mini 2 isn't listed.
I saw somewhere that simply overriding could cause problems, therefore it's best to erase first?
