Hey all,
Both the Barcode Scanner and Google Shopper apps work fine in 240x320. I recently switched to 320x428 (like the resolution much better) and both of these crash when I try to use the camera/image search. Is there any fix to make them work at this resolution?
Thanks
What is your density set at? I've found quite a few things that don't work at that resolution and the 143/144 density so I just went back to 320x480 @ 160

unless things changed, barcode scanner doesn't work in 320x480 160dp either
Er, have you ever actually gotten any android scanning apps to work with the Vogue camera anyway? From my experience the lack of resolution and lack of auto focus makes none of them work, I have never had a successful scan.

The Barcode Scanner app works for large QR codes and Shopper works on book/cd/movie covers.
I'm using 320x428 at 160dpi.

Bingo. Problem lies with Camera on vogue and not with the screen resolution.

yeah, but barcode scanner still FC's on 320x480. Only scanner that works for me is scanlife, all others crash
I just ended up flashing back to 240x320.
At 120dpi, both work fine. And you CAN scan book/dvd/cd covers in Shopper on the vogue's camera. I have also successfully scanned large QR codes in Barcode Scanner.

I've added some extra advanced settings for video recording. I'll add more as I have time.
It's experimental and might be buggy. I promise to try a little harder to have a stable version than I did last time I made a mod like this.
Source code:https://github.com/LeJay/Camera
Sorry, the source code is a bit of a mess . It's a fork of the CM7 nightly and is up to date.
apk and the correct zip is up.
Simply download the zip and flash it. It will replace the camera app in cm7. Whenever you update to the next nightly you'll have to re-flash.
Versions
-----Version 1.0 (current)-------
Features:
Video stabilization
Video manual focus (NOT continuously, sorry)
Video autofocus (NOT continuously, sorry)
Video touch to focus (NOT continuously, sorry)
Things that for strange reasons don't work:
Auto Exposure compensation doesnt work together with autofocus or touch to focus. I'm looking into it. It does work with manual focus, though.
------------------
FAQ:
Q: Sometimes video recording doesnt start when using auto focus.
A: If auto focus fails recording will not start. I might do something else in the future, but this is the setting for now.
TODO:
1)
Work around disabling of exposure. Eg. read focus level from logcat after auto focus and use manual focus instead.
2)Other camera settings:
Image stabilization, manual exposure compensation, timestamps (?), change contrast
Thanks for the hard work
Is it CM7 only?

Yea, sorry, forgot to mention that .
@lejay, great work. i expect to see a new commit with this soon ?
touch to focus in video mode is much desired, i believe.
can you also take a look at http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,6628 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15955411&postcount=6954 ?

Oh, yeah, I removed the code that checks if the preview is 720p. Zoom works fine, both volume and display menu.
EDIT: Actually, zoom behaves a little oddly, it jumps to 8x with double tap. Did I do that? wtf.
I feel auto exposure should get fixed before I sent it to nightly. Also, I get a headache figuring out how to correctly submit these things .
wow, thanks for the your tweak, really hope we can get continuous focus

no, i don't think you did it.
i never knew about the double tap zoom until yesterday, and it jumps between 1x and 8x (in cm). i don't think there is any code for this in app though. could it be libnvmm_camera.so ?
edit: do you get zoom working while recording at High (720p) ? (not changing it, but set it at 4x and start shooting, mine reverts to 1x)

Its in videocamera if I remember correctly,. Zoomgesture something.
Right now zoom is working, but it has been buggy. Does it work if you zoom again and try recording?

Heh, yeah, it is... Im doing a bit of refactoring, hopefully a cleanup and a bit of debugging will help.
When to update to the new version?
I really like the version that can make a focus in recording
waiting for updating!!~~~
Any news?
Hey guys,
I am using a rooted droid bionic with only programs on the approved list frozen.
When in the stock camera app, it now defaults to landscape mode, and will not change as I rotate the camera. It causes pictures to now appear as if I was intending to take them with the camera sideways, so I have to rotate them often to make them correct.
Rebooting doesn't fix the issue, and the problem seems to now persist when in skype (sending me turned on the side with front camera), and potentially google talk (I haven't tested yet). I would think it was related to frozen applications, but it just started happening a week ago.
Any tips or ideas to help would be great, let me know if you need anything more from me.
Thanks,
Cobalt
Play around with your resolution settings. I had a similar issue with the camcorder and found that unless I use 720 or 1080 resolution it always messes with the orientation. The Camera also has an option to use HD (6MP to fit the screen). I find using that is better then setting it to 8MP which messes around with orientation at times.

Tried. Didn't seem to affect anything. Both changing the picture resolution and the camcorder record setting, nothing happened.
On the other hand, I tried the fastboot and FXZ recovery method, and it seems to have worked, to some extent? It now correctly registers the orientation change when saving the pictures, but still does not rotate the icons when using the camera app. As an added bonus, it left all my accounts/programs intact, and just flashed the system files.
Technically fixed, I guess?
Hey guys, who knows is there any way to make the camera shooting longer, 15s is not enough in many circumstance.

I guess it is just question of time. Root will be needed. 15s restriction is set up because of limited internal storage and for avoiding of transfering big video files via BT to phone.
I'm currently loading up several different camera apps to see if they make a difference to get past it. I've tried a couple that did - but the video came out all bad. Trying some more and will let you know.

I was actually planning on building a camera app today to test out on the gear that will remove the time limit. I am thinking that I should have a storage overlay as well so that you know if you are running low on space. Will update when I have something to test.
I've decompiled and had a look at Samsung camera apk, but couldn't find any where to change it. I'm sure it's there, just not sure what I'm looking for

I've tested a few Camera apps - can say that a lot of them force closes or records weirdly. However, UCam Pro is working without the 15sec limitation:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ucamera.ucampro&hl=en
Its free too.. not too bad of an app but a touch on the fiddly side.
thank you guys for the reply, hope some one can make a new camera apk which get rid of the time limitation!!

Is it possible to make a video call (tango, skype, etc) and stream from the camera on your wrist ?
I would think it's possible, but would a bit awkward with current position of the camera. Gear2 might have a camera on the face.
You can. Requires Bluetooth tethering. Skype smashes the battery and doesn't behave particularly well. The problem with camera apps not designed for gear is that the default screen is turned 90degrees. Native Gear apps have this accounted for

Wonder if the Xposed module App Settings will display the camera correctly in portrait if you force the app to always portrait mode.... ? Seems to do the trick for other apps that default to lanscape mode. i.e. Netflix, games , etc...

I haven't tried. Would assume it would just stay at 90' to the natural direction of the app

Yeah, it may just work. Netflix for example, launches in portrait mode, then when you start playing a movie the screen rotates 90' to landscape. When you use App Settings and force portrait mode, it keeps the screen from rotating when you start playing a movie and displays it the correct way.

Ah.. that's a bummer then.
Would the battery last 2 hours of continuous streaming, without burning your wrist?
I made a Skype call on my watch. i needed the Bluetooth tethering of course. The other person could see everything my camera saw on the watch and also could hear the audio.
Yep. I did a Google Video Hangout the other day at Disneyland while on the roller coaster. They saw the whole thing and were mighty impressed with the video quality.
I've tried a whole bunch of camera apps and so far the stock app is the only one that seems to be able to access 60fps recording. Every camera2 probe app I've tried reports 30fps as the max reported speed the device can use which makes me think Oppo have locked out any other apps from accessing it.
Another possibility I'm wondering is if it's not actually true 60fps at all - and it's actually using frame interpolation at 30fps to create the 60fps - although it does seem more natural playing back the recordings and doesn't seem to have the slightly "unreal" look that interpolation usually gives.
There also seems to be no way to select any other camera besides one of the main cameras on the back and the selfie camera on the front when using 3rd party apps.
It just seems a bit of a f-you to have them tout the camera setup as a main selling point of the device while at the same time locking out other apps from using basic recording features like 60fps and making no mention of it. 3rd party apps also exist to provide additional tweaks and features that the stock one lacks and I was disappointed to find Filmic Pro and Open Camera can't access 60fps and has trouble with the shutter speed to stop the zebra stripes/banding in some lighting scenarios.
Have you tried porting Google camera? I just downloaded a modded port and can record at 4k 60fps. Looks Pretty good also.

Hey any chance of a link to the one you are using?
I have tried a few different apks and the only one that would actually install (or open) is the Camera PX v.8.1.008.341125824.
It suffers from zebra striping indoors and outdoors, pressing on "slo-mo" force closes the app, captures of both pics and video are fairly noisy or grainy, 4k mode force closes as soon as I switch the option and it doesn't have an option I can see to choose framerate.
Definitely would like to try a fully working one.
https://www.cyanogenmods.org/google-camera-oppo-find-x3-pro-gcam/.
I used this one, although a bit of searching around and I found a couple of others I will try as well.
Greatness GCam APKs - Google Camera Port
Modified Google Camera app By Greatness.

Here you can enable bottons for the different lenses. Be aware to use the alternative fix as the app crashes otherwise.
I didn't figure out how to use the stream configs though
