[Request] just Notification bar in black

Hello, would somebody be willing to make a theme with just the notification bar in black (date, clock etc in white) for the CM 4.04 ? Nothing else needed in the theme.

i am just that good. i saw this thread a minute ago and already have the file for you uploaded and everything.

its a small file because all it is framework-res.apk (that has the black statusbar_background.png and the statusbar.xml with white notification text) and services.jar which has the classes.dex file that has be changed so that the clock and date will be white.

it was based off of the 4.0.4 template and has a services.jar not compatible with the one for stericsons lockscreen, so no it won't. sorry when cyanogen releases a stable version if you would like this i will do one for you then, just pm me when the time comes around and i will make you one
i need to test out the new colorChanger.jar anyways so i can go ahead and make one real quick for 4.1.11.1 give me about 10 minutes or so and i will have a link

and here is one for 4.1.11.1 with the status bar inverted so it should retain the curved look from the donut one.

i know there are people using this (its kind of obvious with my 4shared account showing how many times it gets downloaded), so my question is should i start a thread like this that has black status bars for people that want them? that way those that do want a black status bar know where to look to find it? if so, let me know and i will, its not like it takes any sort of time to make one. like 10 minutes at the most.
i can make them for well any rom (i think, not tested on rogers but i could try) just give me your rom (with a link to it would be nice) and i will see what i can make happen

Thanks a lot for this. I have been wanting this for quite some time, but kept telling myself I should just learn how to sign the zip on Linux and do it myself.

I was excited for this, but had some real issues. Number one, it will overwrite Stericsson's lock screen (makes sense since we replace the framework-res.apk and services.jar). Secondly, each time I use this, even after a fresh wipe and install, gmail force closes (and yes, I have tried fix_permissions).

I'll look into stericson's lockscreen when i get home from work tonight ,and i don't know why it would mess up gmail since it doesn't touch the .apk. i will look into this and see if i can get gmail to force close.

Thank you very much. I was very confused why Gmail would close myself. I tried many combinations of wiping and flashing, but each time my gmail would force close.

I tried this on 4.2.11.1 and I ended up doing a backup recovery. I would really like to have a black notification bar. Please help me in achieving this goal...
update, ya i figured it out with metamorph...

Any chance on getting this for Manup's eclair Rom?

metamorph will help you accomplish what you want, there are plenty morphs that will let you mix and match

Download any theme with a black notification bar made for Enoms TheOfficial ROM. Extract this, and in framework, extract android.policy.jar, framework-res.apk, and services.jar. Create three folders on your desktop, android.policy, framework-res, and services. In framework-res, create a folder called res, and in res, create a folder called layout.
From the theme, take the file framework/android.policy/classes.dex and place it in your folder android.policy.
From the theme, take the file framework/framework-res/layout/status_bar.xml and place it in your folder framework-res/res/layout.
From the theme, take the file framework/services/classes.dex and place it in your folder services.
Download my attached res.zip, and extract. There will be two folders, drawable and drawable-land. Move these folders to your folder framework/res (Note, do not place in layout, you should now have 3 folders in framework/res).
Open a blank txt file and copy the following:

Download metamorph and the eclair theme by djengizz. Place the eclair theme and Black_Bar_Enom.zip in the folder /sdcard/AndroidThemes. From here, metamorph will do the rest, just be sure to apply the eclair theme before you apply the Black_Bar_Enom.zip morph.

I forgot to add, you now have your first metamorph to post. I am sure many users of Enoms ROM would appreciate it.

That is weird, there must be something in enoms source that I do not understand. Boot to recovery and flash your current ROM to do away with the bootloop.
Enom is very good about responding. You should either ask him what is wrong with my instructions, or ask him to port my black bar mod.

[Q] Colored setting icons - Serendipity 5.6

I just flashed Serendipity 5.6 on my Captivate. This is my first custom rom and it works great. The only thing I'm disappointed in is I was looking forward to the colored setting icons of froyo. Where and how do I get these colored setting icons? Thanks.

Can't find theme
I know you said to look for the proper theme and that it be JPY compatible, but I can't find anything in the themes and apps section. I'm pretty new to all of this and I probably can't recognize what I'm supposed to be looking for. I've been searching for threads with the same topic, but I'm not coming across any. Any further help would great. Thanks.

You should be able to get them from the Serendipity website Mikey has created.

Mikey doesn't have them on his website. I did find a thread that had them attached and said to just replace the current settings.apk in the system then app folder. Does this seem legit?

I think the only issue with that is you might break some settings (i.e not be able to get to certain lock screens).
I would as in his dev forum to make sure though before flashing it.
Or... at least backup the current one before putting that one on the phone so you could restore it if something bad happens.

There are few colored settings icons on this thread. See if they appeal to u. These should go with any JPY based ROM.

It should work.

Find one you like, copy the images over.
Do NOT flash a new one.

[Q] How to enable overscroll glow on stock rom 2.3.3

Does anyone know how to enable overscroll glow on galaxy tab in stock rom 2.3.3?
I looked for it in some forum, but I only found some files to flash with recovery which are not for galaxy tab and this rom.
It's enabled on overcome RC1, So someone should know how to do it.

Probably a change in the framework, which would need a deodexed rom, which means it won't work on stock.
I could be wrong though.
The weird thing is the over scroll glow still shows some places, like in the browsers bookmarks list.

I think you are right, it's in the framework.jar, but I didn't know it doesn't work on stock rom. So I decided to flash overcome RC1. The overscroll glow is enabled in this rom and you can even change the color by changing two image in the framework-res.apk

As soon as Overcome integrates a OC/UV kernel with smartass cpu governor, I will probably make the jump to Overcome.

if you go to setting you will already see that it has overscroll glow (orange like color)
if you need to create your own color use uot kitchen(change animation,battery,icons ..etc)
you will need to upload these two files framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk.

[Q] How to theme the dialer

I was wondering if anybody could show me how to theme the dialer for GB roms. I have tried modifing the framework-res.apk but no luck. The most success I have had is customizing the actual keypad. I am still having no luck modifing the tabs (i.e. Keypad, Recent, Favorites). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you want to look at contacts.apk

it is Phone.apk from gingerbread

I don't think the phone.apk kicks in till you actually make / answer a call. In both AOSP froyo & CM7 (gingerbread) you would need to theme contacts.apk to mod the pic he linked to.

Exactly what 3rdstring said. Phone.apk doesn't kick in until the call is active. Contacts.apk is where almost all of the theming you need to do is.

Is this true no matter what phone you are using? I'm using a Samsung Captivate.

Depending on the rom, you will need to edit the phone apk, dialertabactivity.apk. and the contacts.apk to completely get a full look in the dialer.
Please search before opening a new thread. There is a few TUT around on it. Even one in the forum you wanted this moved to. Have a read of the phoenix Theme thread. Lots of info in there.
