i just want to start off by saying that "Bloo" is one of the best app for facebook out there. the developer had decide to either let bloo die or make it open source.
please respect hes work and show support if you want "bloo" to survive.
visit hes website "fbandroid.wordpress.com" or on the market. and let him know how you feel.
By the way he has release a "Preview" of the new Bloo 1.5 With Facebook Chat. (REMEMBER IS NOT THE OFFICIAL RELEASE) everything seems to be working fine for me. but there should be some bugs.
****The only way to download this app is either by downloading "ASTRO" on the market. and download it straight from your SD Card****
**BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE NEW VERSION, PLEASE UN-INSTALL WHATEVER BLOO VERSION FROM YOUR PHONE FIRST**
File remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market.
extra! thanks for this one.
When I attempt to download it says 'cannot be supported on this phone' I have a Motorola Droid.
if you have your phone rooted. that might be a problem, but if not
try to download it straight to your phone by visiting the forum and download from ur mobile browser, noone seem to have a problem but if you do theres nothing i can think of.
Seems to work well on my X10a. Liking the speed and interface better than the official Facebook app.
Chat appears to work, though I haven't really had a chance to use it yet.
Not sure if this is an official Bloo thread, but would it be possible to get more thorough info when looking at events? I'm looking for attendee lists (who's attending, maybe, or not attending) and would love to have access to the event wall.
Keep up the great work.
Bloo 1.5 chat
Bloo 1.5 has chat...I'm able to open chat and send chat message, but unable to receive. Mytouch 3G
Hi bro over here!! may i noe how do i open the FB chat on bloo??? i cant figure it out!! thx!!
this apps is great, nice interface and more features. although there are some bugs need to be fixed. but still it better than official fb app
CET90,
When you open "BLOO" A blue icon shows on ur notification bar...go to it and click it and ull see all ur friends that are online....(IF U DONT SEE THE BLUE ICON ON UR NOTIFICATION BAR) JUST OPEN BLOO and on the home page (right click it ......not sure what phone u got but after u right click it go to "preferences", when it open go to chat options and make sure where it says "CHAT OPTIONS the "Enable Chat box is has a check mark on it) and if it doesnt just click on it and just go back to your home page and u should see a notification icon pop out on ur bar...(IF U DONT SEE IT RESTART THE APP "BLOO" or Restart ur phone and open the app and it should automatically open chat when u open bloo)
Yup... this time Bloo do it better than the official FB app... can the dev make it sync with contacts like the official app?
was wondering if there was a way to supress the email notifications somehow, like on my blackberry when i had it, it will intercept the email notifications and push the notifications through the program instead therefore i won't be notified twice of updates and such
I was unable to install bloo on my milestone...it said 'Unable to parse the package', something like that...anyone know why?

You can just disable the email notifications from within Facebook. Log into Facebook on a computer, go to Account > Account Settings > Notifications. Uncheck the boxes in the email column and you will no longer receive email notifications. Bloo will still send you notifications.

There is no "Menu Button", but when you are in an application, there are standard options that are applicable and allowed for that app. These options can be accessed via the three dots at the bottom right of the screen within in the app.
If you are taking about a notification alert like in the BlackBerry, NO. You do not get notified when someone posts on your wall. If I am not wrong, no other FB app for a smart phone has this feature except for BB. But you can always sign up for an SMS alert or an email alert when someone posts on your wall. I guess you would already know that.
Yes, you can check your FaceBook inbox from your phone and reply.
I really like the FB and Twitter app on WP7.
Hope this helps.
OMG thanks alot I didn't even know they had twitter. Also how exactly do I check my inbox for Facebook. I don't but for some reason my phone doesn't notify me about anything and I have all notifications checked off
Download the Facebook app from the Marketplace to get the full Facebook functionality from your Windows Phone 7.
As for notifications, push notifications for Facebook are not yet available.
Thanks alot btw is there anyway to get the led notification blinking for more then just missed calls? That's the only time it seems to come on for besides low battery
Hello.
I was having trouble with the facebook notifications not working in 1.5.2.
I tried to uninstall/install the app
Clear cache
Installed 1.5.0
Re-flash ROM
etc etc etc...
And nothing worked.
I logged with a friends Facebook account in my Captivate and Push notifications were working !!
I re-logged to with my account and notifications still not working, so WTF?
So I started to mess around with the Facebook settings, privacy etc, and nothing helped to receive push notifications...
Until I deactivated my account and re-activated, and now I have notifications back! Is like a hidden setting in facebook that tells if push notifications are enable/disable, and after re-activating my account in some way is restores it, no idea but is working now...
If you have this problem, give it a try!
To deactivate: Account->Account Settings->Deactivate Account
To Activate: just log in.
Best Regards
Trying it now ... I've tried everything else... hope this works ...
EDIT: HOLY MONKEYS BATMAN IT WORKED! I'VE HAD MY DINC FOR 7 MONTHS NOW, WITH PROBABLY 12 DIFFERENT ROMS, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS EVER EVER WORKED! Thankyou!
Details:
I just flashed the newest version of Magnolia with Clockwork 3.x. Clean slate wipe (other than sd).
I deleted the old version of fb that came with the rom (just from the app list in settings), cleared all data from that....DID NOT set up facebook for HTC Sense when doing original setup of phone right after reflash.....
Logged onto FB from my pc, deactivated, waited until I got the email, then logged in again.
DL latest FB from the market and set it up, asked someone to comment on a status, and voila, fb started notifying me EVERY TIME someone did, not just every 30 mins like the settings show...
YAYAYAYAY!! I'm so happy now! I'm gonna pass the word along.
Thank you!
Did it work for you?
Yes - see above edited post!
Or just log in to fb, register phone and check boxes to receive SMS alerts. Faster than the 1 hour intervals.

My notifications are popping up in real-time. The only thing that goes once hourly is messages or friend requests, as far as I can tell. I'm watching my facebook on my computer and my phone alerts me nearly at the same moment my pc does.
umm... ??
deactivate my facebook account? message posted day before april fools day...
something doesnt add up
You can do that without deleting your profile. I hear of people deactivating it everytime they log off for privacy concerns. When deactivated you dont show up on any of your friends pages or searches. Just log on to reactivate, you'll get an email welcoming you back.
you dont loose anything?
Nope. Not that I know of. Check out cnn story. http://articles.cnn.com/2010-11-12/...ngs-new-facebook-facebook-accounts?_s=PM:TECH

Is there a modified app I could try?
DesktopSMS forwards all your incoming SMS on your *Android Phone* to your Gmail to GTalk.
You can then reply to the chat request or email, and the response will be sent back from your phone as a text message. This is very similar to Google Voice, except you won't need a new number or anything annoying like that!
http://app.net/desktopsms
Installation:
1) Install DesktopSMS on your ANDROID PHONE. (Not onto your XOOM)
2) Login to Desktop SMS on your ANDROID ****PHONE****.
3) Install a Chat client like Google Talk (which may already be on your XOOM) onto your XOOM or desktop PC.
4) Receive a text. Watch as your text gets converted to an email and google chat message
5) Respond!
So, once again, this app is only installed on your phone. Then just install your favorite IM client on your desktop and tablet, and the rest will work magically!
You do not need to install this on both your phone and tablet like other apps. You do not need to be on the same network like other apps. This all works by magic (my servers).
Let me know what you think. This is in a free beta right now, so be prepared for some bugs! I'd love to hear your feedback.
Wrote you a PM
well, I don't have a smart phone so thats a problem.
I, like many others, have ditched their smartphomes and activated their xooms. I now only have a dummy phone. I didn't see a need in paying for two data plans because I ws rarey using my phone. Now I use it to talk and text.... even though I wish it was only to talk.
I am waiting for the day that I can SMS on my Xoom using my current phone number. Guess I'll jabe to keep waiting. lol
Works awesome...just had a conversation with myself, through gtalk. Hahaha havnt tried it with my xoom yet. But im pretty sure it will work just fine. Very good job
It looks great but I cannot seem to get it to work yet, Mr. Koush. I have it signed it with push notifications successfully on my gmail account on my OG Droid. I can do the test message from within the app and it pops up on my phone like always, but other than that it does nothing on my Xoom, or on anything else for that matter. It seems almost like the push notifications are not even being sent out.
EDIT: I found out what the problem was. I had the default messaging app totally disabled, as I am using Handcent SMS as a complete replacement to the default one. I would like to use Handcent SMS instead of the default one. I know its beta and I cannot wait for updates!

I had that same "issue" so thanks for posting the solution. User error as usual
Is there a way to make the contact name show up or will we need to add these email addresses to our contacts? Thanks and awesome job!

It looks like after you receive your first text from that person after you accepted the "chat invite" on your Gtalk account it syncs up with your current contact list automatically. It shows the phone number on the left side of the screen under your gmail account, but in the chat window it shows that contacts name in parenthesis.
This ofcourse is for if you are using the Xoom with Gtalk, such as myself. I haven't tried anything else yet.
Could it be that the contacts NAME will be in the gtalk LIST instead of phonenumber ?
OK, being a bit thick here.
I'm using GoSMS Pro, but as far as I know, the default messaging app is still active, just without any notifications... does this make a difference?
Not currently receiving any notifications in email or g-talk... :/

*edit* update took care of it, never mind.
@Koush
I am having an issue getting the app to try it out. When I tell the system to send me a link, it does, but it sends me a link for the link request page again. It does not send me a link to the actual app.
EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out. Shouldn't browse until I had my coffee.

Is it possible that your push servers are blocked in China?
I can correctly Login with Google Account, but get an error on 'registering with push server....' (takes long and eventually times out)
Error message: "Login failed. Please check your password. If the error persists, please send a log to the developer"
here is a log... maybe it helps analyze why i can't connect with the push servers...
Ok, it's just updated, and when I go to send a test SMS, it brings up
The application GoSMS was found installed. If you do not recieve a text message, please verify that it has not disabled SMS notifications in the application's settings.

So that's cool, then I send the test. GoSMS then pops up the text, as it always does.
However, it still doesn't appear to be sending me an email.
When it says "please verify that it has not disabled SMS notifications in the application's settings", does it mean the default Messaging app?
I've tested by disabling the taskbar notification for GoSMS and re-enabling it for the default Messaging app, but even then, there is no sound nor visual cue that an SMS has arrived... is this why it's not working? Has GoSMS broken my default messaging app?

Hey,
Facebook app on WP sucks. Can someone make a proper messenger app with geolocation, support for read receipts etc? Something like iPhone and Android have. I'm sikc and tiered of this current app that wastes space and looks uggly. Push notifactions that work would be also a bonus.
Just an idea. If wished, I would not mind a proper facebook app in genreal aswell but I can handle the lack of that, if messenger app would exist.

Yeah, but "who cares" for chat, we just want an messenger app that iOS and Android have. I really, really miss that feature on my 8X, not only that push notifications does not work, but also, we are not able to send or receive any file/picture via it !

Push Notification does work.... I am not missing any fb chat message however it's lagging couple of seconds.
Microsoft is not a copycat. They are trying to be original and bring something new to the end users.
Everything has to be intergrated in the people hub. Whatsapp is an exception since it uses your phone number to communicate with the other party; so is Tango.
Keep in mind that WP8 was meant to be compatible with Windows 8 where all your contacts are now integrated into your live messenger.
well the facebook app does not always work. most of the time its fine.. but sometimes its just a pain. messages send online are not displayed.
sometimes messages are not displayed at all. some contact i can write messages to and they dont receive all of them..i evne have contact that dont receive any of my messages.
its supposed to support on and offline fb messages.. not sure if that works correctly

If your contact is offline they wont get messages. In all other scenarios, they do receive your messages.
A dedicated Facebook Messenger app is needed because
1. the built in Facebook Chat lacks several important features (most importantly group messages) and is unreliable. Also doesn't show previous messages that weren't sent using the built in chat.
2. the normal Facebook app has several issues when it comes to messages, including annoying error popups and no notificaitions.
There is an app called FIM, I haven't tried it yet.
I'm trying to get toast notifications for when I get a facebook message but even though it's enabled in the settings, I still don't get them (this is all when I'm not online on the messaging hub). Anyone else seen this problem before?
If u r not online, how do u expect to get messages?
If u mean u do not get messages, just because u r not IN the hub, then I would have no other idea what might be the problem.
basically for me Facebook chat has been broken for several weeks now. I started on Windows Phone 7.8 and it still happens on Windows Phone 8. I can not get Facebook to reliably deliver me messages to my phone, neither via the messaging hub nor via the facebook app
It's really annoying, I can not get it to work properly.

I'm talking about the official Facebook application. There's an option for Toast notifications for FB Messages but it doesn't work, all the other toast notifications for that app work though.
Sorry, I do not use crappy apps, especially when every basic thing can be done via the Me, or People Hub. So I find the existence of Twitter, FB and these kinda apps redundant. Why the hell would u install things u already have implemented in the OS?
But that is just my opinion...
Sorry, that I cannot help any more.

Do you have an alternate solution to Facebook messages aside from being online on the messaging 24/7?
Negative. Since everything I need from FB is embedded in the system I am in no need of such apps. And any other app that has features that are already a part of the OS itself.
