Is there anyway to get the cooked ROMs to run in an emulator so they can be tested out without flashing to a device?
In some kind of a way yes, but you'd have to always swap OEMDrivers and OEMXIPKernel before cooking and hope that you have 100% working drivers for your device then.
I think he want's to test the chief cooked roms in a emulator.
So I don't think it's possible You would have to extract the roms and with "home cooked" ones it's not 100% possible.

Can Someone please upload wizard aku3.3 clean version,
I just saw that Kyphur released a crosswbow version,
I would really like just a clean sime version with no addons.
If it will be possible it would be great.
Many Many Thanks
Jimmy.
I would like a clean 3.3 as well. I would prefer to do my own customizations
me too please
Can we also have it with more free ram via the page pool fix?
Somebody first have to make such a rom and then to upload it here!
I also prefer clean roms, and perform my customizations manually.
All the cooked roms we got here are result of peoples hard work that won't be payed, and thank them again for this. But, they are also humans and create roms to satisfy their own needs, therefore most of roms won't be all the way most of all wanted them to be. I try lots of roms customized to have ringtones, explorer cache and so on the storage card, but what about those who doesn't use storage card? There are roms with tons of apps, most of them useless. There are even roms with warez software... Those who can't live with this, should try to cook rom for themself, or pay some of the developers to make them a perfect rom.
So far I found Molski's roms to be most likely to the perfect one I'd like to have. If he decide to make AKU 3.3 rom, I suggest you to try it.

Well i assume the guys making the cooked roms must have a clean one. Where do they get the rom from that they use as the base of their cooked rom?
I was wondering why no one ever posts the Clean unmodified ROMs that all these other ROMs are based off of? I would love to see some ROMs that are as they come from MS or HTC, with only the required hardware drivers.

For WM6 the Orwell version is "clean".
For WM5, just pick any ROM such as the T-Mobile shipped ROM. After you have upgraded the ROM, hit reset before it starts to install the Provider's customization, you will have a clean ROM.
You can also flash the blank extended ROM to have a clean extended ROM.
There you go... You don't need to wonder or beg anyone to post any "clean" ROM for you.
The original poster was probably referring to all of the newer AKU 3 stuff.
If you check in the ftp, you'll only find one clean AKU 3 and that is the zeroxtreme ROM. I personally like it better than all of the custom ROMs because it's proven and is very frugal with the battery. In addition, I don't think it has an IPL/SPL (don't quote me on that, see for yourself). As stated by mtvn, you can download the manufacturer's ROM's and skip the customization, but they are only AKU 2.x. I have a copy of Orwell's but I'm not sharing right now.
Hi all,
I am a new user to PDA phones and I have read through the wiki about this cell,
but I still have sth to ask.
1. What is Manila?
2. How can configure or add themes and tab icons in the TF3D?
Please give me a hand in starting to know more about the machine, Thx
Someone can expand or correct, this is just how I understand it to be.
1. Manilla\Rhodium = TouchFlo3d interface from HTC. It will be called TF3d as well.
Titanium = Windows Mobile 6.5 overlay that is turned on and off via Start\Settings\Today\Items\Windows Default
2. use TF3d to search. So search 'add tabs tf3d' and see if that helps.
Thanks for the answer,
I also see that there is a lot of topics about err,
upgrading the official ROMs into Custom made ROMs,
Is there anything I should notice about upgrading ROMs,
and also wt is the advantage of using 'em?

read the stickies and make sure you know what are the steps to follow to flash a rom. follow them literally. if you don't you might "brick" your phone. when u get used to flashing, the process will be easy to follow, just take your time getting used to WinMo before flashing.
Moving from a stock ROm to a Custom ROM is easy and worth the 'risk' in my opinion. You can find all you need within the Wiki to get started with the flashing of HARDSPL. You will then choose a custom ROM and then flash that ROM to your device. You will lose all data on the phone so make sure you sync before you start.
I personally am using the Energy Rom 3.0 series and I like it.
A cooked ROM or a custom ROM is created by a person (usually with a ROM kitchen) and it removes items the cook thinks are not needed and they often add in tweaks, programs and graphical enhancements.
Some people are looking for a custom ROM that makes their device fast, while others are looking to maximize their TouchFlo3D experience. I persoanlly use Energy ROM because it is Windows Mobile 6.5, it contains Titanium (the WM6.5 touch friendly interface) and because the cook put in plenty of programs and tweaks that I would do on my own.
After I install the ROM, I do go through and install all my own programs. Not every cooked ROM will match your own needs so that is when people begin cooking their own ROM within a kitchen.
I have downloaded the kitchen and attempted to cook a ROM but I find using someone else's is a bit easier.
MSVC is Microsoft Voice Command. So when you are looking for ROMS you might see that acronym.
I'm just looking for a rom with standard liberated snapvue abilities with the best phone fuctionality.
Also i have a Swedish keybard on my shift so i need full swedish layout for my keyboard.
So, what rom should i pick?
I'd go for "Age of reason"
@Flanimal - Have you tried Gullum's and i00's Roms also ?
Is thaiugo's Rom faster / more stable ?
I am also searching for the 'perfect rom' for my shift, and wanting to find out your opinions.
Thanks

I'm using thaiugo's are of reasons too. The I00 rom can use MMS, but too heavy. I've installed QIP on it, and tryed to serf for web... and it went down. Gullum's roms 6.5 is heavy, and i havent' tryed another one.
But Gullum has a WM6.1 cooked rom also. That's what I am currently using.
I am trying to flash Thaiugo's Age of Reason to see if there is a difference or not, but currently i am experiences some difficulties in attaching Snapvue to Windows 7.

Yes I found thaiugos ROM to be the fastest and most stable, and most compatible with programs (youtubeplay works on it).
I tested Thaigo , i00 and Gullums Roms. In my opinion WM6.1 by Gullum combines the best look, functionality and programs preloaded.
I use Thaihugos Age of Reason. It is fastest, more free RAM/storage space and not full of programs you never need. You can install only programs you actually use to save storage.
..and Thaihugo.. if you are reading this, please cook same kind of very light rom but WM6.1...

That's probably why I didnt't use Thaiugo's ROM more than a day. Althought it is fast and stable, i always flash the lastest OS onto my devices. WM6.5 takes too mouch resources, so i sticked to WM6.1
Once again, im a little confused...i have a brand new X1..am thinnking what should I do...
should i upgrade to WM 6.5..(I dont want a cooked ROM, iwant an official 6.5 OS that i can install, upgrade, like we do when we go to Vista to Win7 etc.
BTW: Can u provide me a link for an unofficial but clean OS)
OR
Should I go on installing a cab of a TouchFlo3d
OR
Flash my X1 with a cooked ROM (still cant understand which one)
Thanx a lot..
Personally if your even contemplating flashing your X1, you might as well go with one of the 6.5 builds, they are far superior in My Opinion to the 6.1
there are several good ones out there, so its personla choice as to which you use, I guess it depends on Features cooked in, applications, battery life, stability etc.
Flash Cooked ROM with 6.5. Recent ones are very fast due to having better drivers support as opposed to stock roms
Cab of TF3D won't be optimized.. would be sluggish
alrite i agre with what you are saying cykalu, but then again, these cooked ROMs wont be originals rite? and not only that, are they all BETA or full and final ROMs??
Just wanted to know...

They won't be original but Sony Ericsson decided not to give X1 users the latest (6.5) updates. Therefore all cooked 6.5 roms are much better than original because the chefs has included and tweaked around with X2's drivers so X1 can use them which are more optimized than SE's stuff.
Beta or no Beta, as long as they work it's good. look at Windows 7 RC2, it's beta but it was basically the final after a few minor patches..
If you aren't a user who likes fiddling with your device I recommend you stick with stock ROMs. Cooked ROMs usually have bugs which range from minor to game-ending (e.g. the reset bug that seems to exist in every cooked ROM).
Personally I'm not a fan of Touchflo (especially the Leo version), it makes the inconsistent WM interface even more inconsistent.
If you really want WM6.5, flash gtrab's 5.07 ROM and install the X2 cabs from the themes and applications forum. It'll be as close as you can get to a WM6.5 ROM upgrade. There are only two bugs with this ROM that I've found, one of which is fixed by installing the X2 dialer (the other one is the reset bug that every ROM seems to have). Just sync with MS My Phone or something to minimise the impact.

I know exactly how you feel about modifying your new xperia...I was like this one month ago...My xperia is only 3 months old so I was little nervous....So I went through all the flashing tutorials in here and also downloaded BioVolt's video tutorials...And one month back I flashed my xperia for the first time...I flashed it with the Xperia Unoffcial release ROM, I did all the steps exactly as it was mentioned in the tutorials and my xperia was flashed successfully...but after that I tried to do the hard reset, I wasnt able to do hard reset twice...I thought I bricked my phone ....i was little panic...I once again went through the tutorials and done it third time...This time I was able to do a hard reset successfully and my phone booted up with the new Unofficial Xperia 6.5...after that I flashed 2 or 3 ROMs and finally sticked up with Sonblack's SB20 release which I found to be stable, fast and attractive with its touchflow manila interface...I dint had any weird experience with this one...
