Hi all
A quick search yields me no decent results for my problem here.
I've posted to various other forums and even to google code about this issue. Plenty of other people have this problem, I know i'm not crazy.
G1 on tmobile, stock firmware.
When i send an email with an attachment (say, from the camera), if i move too quickly to send, the email will get stuck in the drafts folder, without the to, subject or message, and will never properly send. Sometimes i can open the message from drafts and re send it and it might work, most times i can't even get any send buttons or interaction with a half-sent message.
I can even make it happen by writing and sending a regular message too quickly. what crap!
This is intensely frustrating, and i've had several important messages sit in my drafts folder for days until i realized it didn't get sent.
Supposedly, a new os will be pushed to us early adopters soon, but who knows how long or if that will fix the problem?
My question to you all: How do you deal with this problem? Do certain custom mods take care of this issue? Which ones?
I'm tempted to install the newest Cyanogenmod, but really, all i want is for this one problem to go away, and this seems like a lot of work to do just for decent email.
Any suggestions?
I suppose i could install a 3rd party email app like K9 and read with that, but i'd rather not if there's a better way to deal with this...
Thanks!

hi all,
i travel on the underground trains a lot, and sometimes its the only time i get to write / reply to text messages.
however when i click send all i get it "SMS CANNOT BE SENT" message and it gets saved in my drafts. then i have to remember later to re-send them.
is there not a way that we can queue the messages in our outbox so that the phone immediately sends when it gets reception?
my old phones used to do this but it seems newer ones dont..
many thanks!
just wanted to ask if people understand what i mean? i found a similar topic to this form last year with no replies also.
my old HTC (200mhz windows mobile 5) had no issues with this, so may be this is just a registry fix... ?
There is an easy way to do this...
type all the message in ur Tube Train
once all the messages are there in your drafts, go into your drafts folder, select all the messages and click menu>move and move it to outbox. Once your phone will get the reception sms will automatically go
Regards,
Vishal
see but this is the problem, if i do not have reception already then sms get automatically moved from the outbox back to the drafts folder.
i know you are trying to be helpful but i want it to do something different!
imagine this, you are on the tube, then you get off and make your way through the crowds up to the street level onto a crowded busy street where just standing in one place would be in somebodys way.. so i walk to where i have to get to and immediately once i am there the client will be asking me questions or i will be working to make a good impression for us..
it leaves little time, and by the time i would remember i would already be at home wondering why i havnt had a reply!
someone must know where to point me to find an answer?? i cant be the only one!
i've asked on a few more windows forums to see if anyone knows. ive also had a look through the registry myself to see if there is anything obvious which there isnt..
i'll keep posting back with my findings.
I really understand what you mean. That little thing keeps annoying me too, most of the times I believe I've sent the message but I haven't, leading me to missunderstandings.
My old Nokia n70 didn't have any problems with that....sometimes I miss that phone so much!
Please write down here whatever you find...

no that will not help. threaded sms is a PITA and is not what we are wanting.
yea so im getting no where with this.
its strange because this works fine on WM5
I've seen a couple of threads on this across the web but theres nothing i've found that can fix it.
So,
I have a contact saved with 07... or +44...., i send an sms to them fine. They then reply and when i click to reply at the top i can see the number has automatically changed to 44 (no +), therefore the sms cant be sent and i get an error message. I have to close that conversation, go to the origional conversation and then retype and send.
Recieved sms, upon reply drops + and message failed.
This has only happened on a couple of contacts and others work fine. I have tried standard sms, Go Sms and hancent. None of them can resolve the issue.
I have tried 2.1, 2.2 JP5, JPU and 2.2.1 JPY (standard and custom ROMS) and all give the same problems with the same contacts.
There is literally nothing i can do to sort this.
I have tried deleting their contact and adding a new one, sync with facebook (get them to remove their number and add it in manually). Literally nothing i can do has got around this problem.
Please please someone help me. For a perminant solution i would be willing to donate via paypal.
Edit:
Is there any way to REPLACE the standard sms apk with a different one as Go sms and Handcent run off the standard sms app. Therefore, maybe a replacement (rather than an addon) would fix this bug??
Somethimes it hapened to me too.
When I tried to send it again for once or twice usualy it works.
Would be happy if someone can fix this.
please someone help!!? I will donate £10 (like $15,16ish dunno exchange rate)
Could it be a problem with the person who replies phone or network? As it only happens to a few it sounds like their phone or network is not enclosing the correct reply number with their text. Is that possible?
I'm experiencing the same problem. It only happens to one contact in my list. I've tried many things but cant solve the problem...

Sorry for late response,
finally i have got this sorted. i think it is a samsung rom issue either that or possibly go sms (although stock mms did it too). I am now running cm7 and have not had this issue once, if you aren't running cm7, i would highly recommend it, it is very fast and reliable, there are some bugs but it brings new features too. check it out
If deleting the whole thread fixes it, there's an app in the market that can fix it.
I apologize if this has been asked/resolved before, but I searched the forums and google quite a bit to no avail. I have found other instances of people with this issue but have not found a resolution yet.
Every time I receive a single text message, I get a notification on the unlock screen that says I have 2 texts. When I unlock the phone and pull down the notification area, it lists the 2 texts. One of the texts is the actual text i just received and I can access it just fine. The other text listed is a text from weeks ago that has long been deleted, including the entire thread it was in. This ghost text will not go away.
I can clear the notifications and it goes away, but as soon as I receive another text from anyone, it pops up there again. I have tried some other solutions that popped up on google. These were to download the SMS Cleaner app and search by keyword. Upon doing this, the app does not find any texts with the keywords from the ghost text.
I have also tried replying to the text to create a new thread and maybe try to delete it again, but even when the new thread is created/deleted the ghost text comes back.
I also turned off/on text notifications several times also combined with power cycling the phone, which did not solve this either.
Note: This text was from a room alert system in our server room at work. It sends email alerts that we then have converted to text message and sent to our phones.
Not sure if it being an email has anything to do with it, but I have received these alerts several times before without any of them getting stuck.
My phone is still on 2.1 and was rooted using Unleash the Beast.
Anyone have the same problem, or any ideas? Is there a folder that holds texts somewhere in the root file system that I can clean out?
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much detail about the problem as possible, this has been annoying me for weeks.
Try deleting the email alert? Just spitballing...
This happened to me last night!
I keep getting the same Ghost Txt message
The only way i can think to get rid of it would be a Data Reset.
But i dont wanna erase my whole phone cuz of a software issue that may happen again!
Have u fixed it?
No, still no luck on this. Anyone have any ideas?
I had a problem similar to this with the dumb phone that i had before my Captivate. I called AT&T customer support because I didn't want to reset my phone and they got it resolved. Apparently there was a message stuck in their server marked as unread, but since it had been read on my phone it said 0 new messages. This might work for you, too?
Solved
Open the spot where notifications are read the phone number and send a text to it, it will open the message thread and you can delete it there
So I searched this forum and I can not seem to find anything that is pointing to my problem. But maybe my search-foo is not up to snuff. That aside, the error that I am getting is an android toaster notification of "Connection Error (<Account Name>)" I have re-done account setup 3 times with no luck. The odd thing is that I am able to send and receive email just fine, the annoying popup just keeps coming up.
Current setup
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Honeycomb 3.1 software
Exchange 2003
Corporate Email Client (Builtin to Honeycomb)
So after contacting several customer support staff sites and organizations, they said that they had seen issues where my problem was associated with a mail message that either a) only had a link in the body or b) had no subject text.
As I had like 400 mails sync'd over 3 days, I was not about to go through all of them, so what I did was remove the account (to flush all the mail) and then re add it with only 1 day sync'd. While the error was still present after this I decided to just let it ride until the following day (today). After my sync removed all of the messages minus 1 day sync'd I am good to go.
So now it would seem that I need to pay attention to the mails that come in to try and help trap the issue. I know in my organization people send emails sans subject all the time so that is going to be a rather large PITA but I think I can work around it. The link one is also a bit of a downer but again something I think I can work around if needed.
Hope this helps someone or at the very least some developer will come along and see this and fix it . Anyone know where you can go to report a bug like this?
So some further updates incase anyone else stumbles upon this. Curly brackets in the subject will cause an error '{' or '}'
My wife got a Moto X a couple of weeks ago, and can't find a way to send a contact by text message. I looked at her phone and it isn't an option under contacts. On a contact, under the share menu, it has several options. None of them are send by text message, and its the easiest way to send a contact. It's kind of weird, but one of the options is send by LAN, click it and it says not supported.
I have a Droid Maxx, and when I open a contact and select share I have a option to send it by text, but the Moto X doesn't.
I've tried searching forums like here, Motorola, google searches etc., and can't find any mention of this anywhere. Only place it is mentioned is as issue # 42174 on code.google.com where it was dropped off the base code after 4.2.1. In her words "Everybody else can, people do this all the time, this is a problem".
The only thing that kind of works is copying part of the contact to the clipboard, and pasting it to a text, some times it takes several texts to send all the contact information though.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or am I not looking in the right place to do it?
You can't. As of right now there is no vcard support via mms. We can't send or receive. Confirmed by moto rep on official forums. As you stated, it's been removed from android for whatever reason, and moto hasn't added it back in. I noticed it myself the other day, it's pretty annoying considering I send and receive contacts via mms all the time. At least I did.

Thanks for the reply ( I guess). Now I'm going to have to tell her she can't do it, damn. I was really hoping it was something I was overlooking. It really seems to be a pretty big omission by not being able to send vcards that way. I'm a little surprised not many people are complaining about it though. It was really hard to find any mention of it. That's the second strike against the Moto X for her. She has the damn bug where her phone wouldn't get out driving mode, it kept announcing out loud who was calling after she quit driving. Not a good thing to happen in an operating room. I had to disable that part of moto assist to get it to shut up. Hope there is an update soon for that bug too.
