Includes biking directions, sharing of places via SMS/e-mail, etc, and a new Navigation icon in the app launcher.
G maps
Thx, for the update notice!
The Navigation program says my region (Canada) is still not supported. I know some work has been put in to get around that in earlier versions but I was wondering if anyone was planning on hacking the new one...just out of curiosity, really.

I had such problems on other ROM when I had little space on my cache partition. But on CM 5.0.7 I have this partition nearly empty.
Just look into logcat. There is probably some error message.

*downloading*
yes it helped to get 4.2.0
but market still shows google maps as "to be downloaded"
anyways, your url helped to get 4.2.0 thanks so much
I tried to update multiple times this morining on wifi with the same error "download unsuccessful. I tried everything, wipe cache, fix permissions - NO GO. Then I tried to do the update with wifi off, on the edge network and it worked. Hope this helps someone.
I got the "low storage space" error while downloading and got the same installation unsuccessful error that others are getting. After freeing up some internal storage and then rebooting, 4.2.0 installed just fine.
Must of been a G1 thing lately. I finally got the new Map app to download today. Took me I don't know how many tries. I finally ended up deleting 4.11 or whatever the last was. Rebooted a few times and then tried again.
It's not just the G1. I read in the Nexus forum that those users were also having a hard time installing 4.2.0. Something was definitely weird with this update.

I get the same error. Can't install the update.
I have rooted ADP Donut.
Well, what a nice suprise. I guess the dev's can remove the hack that was needed to get it working from the roms.
Works on latest Cyanogen.
I got the "not signed" error too, but re-downloaded it and all is well.
I get an error that says "Google Maps installation unsucessful" It says it wasnt signed correctly. I didn't install the google maps with navigation with the workaround with the build.prop. This sucks
Tried the lot - reboot, retry, used wifi etc - looks like its wipe time
Edit:Sorry for double post
has anyone outside the US got it yet? Will it work in other countries or do I still have to patch it? (Canada here)

Delete the dalvik-cache for any previous maps installation and the new version will install but it seems that navigation outside of US is not working
I installed it. First got the install failure, got around it by uninstalling maps first. No navigation outside the US in the version so I went back to the modified one.
I'm not finding it in the market?

can we still do the trick where you make a shortcut to your destination and it finds it that way or do we need the different maps.apk still?
i restored my stock 4.2.5 image in switchrom, downloaded the update in the market (and any additional apps i had installed since the backup was made) and it works perfectly

Yup I can concur on this. Installed the latest version via market, however does not have navigate. Layars is new and it now has traffic for Vancouver, yay! Hope they bring navigate up to canada (and voice) soon.
It looks like it could be available outside the U.S. but the navigation features is simply not working just like the version of the Motorola Milestone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583123
I've wiped, tried downloading several times and still getting the not signed error? Can't uninstall maps either. Anybody have any clues?
I have a Galaxy S I9000M, just came back from repair at the Montreal Repair Depot.
Had some trouble unlocking it to run on Fido network, but finally got that working using Helroz's unlock tool (so, phone is rooted) and unlocked).
Used it for a little while (about an hour) installed a couple of apps, and now, suddenly, I cannot install apps from the Android Market. When I try to install, the app goes through the process of downloading, but then it does nothing. I get no error message, no notice of install failing, the app download indicator disappears from my notification area, and the app is not installed.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any idea of a fix? I have powered off/on, no change. I would prefer to avoid having to factory reset, but will do so if absolutely necessary.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Having the same exact problem here...
same issue
Same thing is happening to me as well. It started after I rooted my phone using super one click root.
I also used super one click root on my phone, but the if that's the cause of the problem, then it doesn't cause it right away. I was able to install several apps after rooting, then suddenly I couldn't install anything.
I have read that for some people, unmounting the SD card will work. i had an external SD card installed, but i had that in before I downloaded apps that installed properly. For me, unmounting (and removing) the external SD card did not have any effect on my problem.
For what it's worth, I'm not running any special ROm or anything - just standard Froyo 2.2 (JL2) as released by Samsung for the Bell I9000M (I didn't upgrade, it shipped back from repair with JL2 installed).
Same here

let the market update the new version of maps and itll work. its workin now for me.
How can I force Maps to update?
Just some info guys: it seems to be a known issue. Checked the help in the main Market page: http://market.android.com/support/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs .
It's under download and installation issues. Please report it if you're having the same problem so they can fix it faster.
Ok the problem seems to be fixed by downloading/updating the Google Maps app. If it still doesn't work make sure to:
-clear data on the market app
-restart your phone
-update Google map and let it install fully

I am not really sure, mine showed that it needed an update. Maybe you can try to uninstall/install Google Map again and make sure to clear data on the market application FIRST.
After clearing my Market cache, and uninstalling market updates, market re-updated itself, and I can now install apps again (who knows fo how long, though). Hopefully, it will stay and i will stay happy.
Under Manage Applications I can't uninstall Market Updater for the above solution.
Any help?

Sorry could I get some clarification on the suggestion jayisgod posted? Cos Im obviously missing something here.
I personally force stopped the market App, cleared the data in Manage Applications (btw the Cache button is grayed out) and then restarted the Market app (Agreed on the terms blah blah) and still get the same issue.
Btw in Manage Applications -> All I can see a Market Updater package but I can't delete it or force stop it (both options are grayed out).
Thanks
PS: I am using Darky's Rom V9.1 if that makes any difference

I powered off and then on so it would reboot - it went through the setup screens. I get aborts of android.process.media so it won't let me go through the google play icon. When I try to click on Nookreader for android while on barnes and noble web site, it aborts again. I had the latest daily on here 2 days ago and was getting the same abort, but only twice when android first started. Tapping on google play then said "server error" and would NEVER work. Tried through the web - said I needed to use google play app - hence a big loop of nothing working. That's when I went to the "stable" version of 7.20 encore. It doesn't appear to want to do anything right.
Any advice on getting this all to work would be greatly appreciated. Using clockwork with the nook 1.4.3 firmware is getting old just to get back to a device that works, albeit not with full android.

Thanks so much for the help! I really want this to work!
I installed just CM7 and booted up - got one message about the media thing again but only one. I then went to set up wifi and now I'm stuck at that screen - then n button doesn't pop up anything to let me go back to something - like home.
I don't know if it makes any difference - I did the format data/system reset option then the cm7 flash, but it is still remembering my wireless settings somewhere as it automatically connects and it's a wpa2 network. Is there another step for erasing/formatting something that I missed?
Sorry to sound so stupid - but I'm completely a noob (LOVE the video on the registration page!).
Thanks so much again!
Dave:
nope - still not working
Well, installed cm7 and set up wifi, checked it was working by going to the web. Let it sit a few minutes, then reboot with the microSD and installed the gapps. Rebooted, went through google setup, then tried the google play via the icon on the home screen - same thing. It repeats the android.media.application abort message 2 times and then aborts the google play before I even get anywhere.
So......I'm wondering about my google apps zip file -> it said it was google apps for android 2.x.x, whereas I thought the cm7 I installed was android 3. Does this make a diffference?
Thanks again!
Dave :fingers-crossed:
Click here for the correct Gapps file:

still failing
I downloaded the cmod 7.0 file and the gapps (thanks Hoser88!!), created the microSD, booted, did the format data/system reset and installed cmod 7.0. Rebooted, got the same 2 error messages about "android.media.application" aborting, then checked wireless and it was running.
Rebooted with the microSD and installed gapps, removed microSD and rebooted, got the same 2 error messages. Tapped on "Market", it showed a screen with something circling in the middle VERY briefly, then that closed out and the same 2 error messages came up again.
I'm starting to get worried, as I *think* I'm doing what I'm supposed to yet it doesn't work for me. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Just to see what happens, I'm going to try the latest nightly cmod7 and see what that does.
Thanks!
Dave
same problems........
I made the microSD with the latest nightly of cmod 7 and the gapps pointed to above. I flashed cmod 7 first, booted, checked wireless, etc.. Still get the same 2 aborts about android.process.media on startup. I then booted again with the microSD and installed the gapps, removed microSD and rebooted. Got the same 2 aborts on startup. Tapped "Market", you see another screen the says "loading" very briefly, then that screen goes away and the android.process.media abort shows and I have to tap force close (this happens twice). I have no idea what this media process is, but is there a way to disable it? I get the feeling it is contributing to my problems.
I'm really lost here. I want this SO bad. I want to have full Android, and have both the Nook and Kindle reader apps so I can keep all my books on 1 device.
Thanks in advance!
dave
Tried more, still fails
I tried a recent suggestion on the cyanogen nook color forum: format data/factory reset and format /system, then install. I did this using the latest nightly and gapps - still got the same abort twice. Found another note in the cyanogen forum saying to go to the rom app and run set permissions and then reboot. I did that - STILL get the aborts. Can't get to google play (shows as "Market") get the quick "Loading" screen followed by immediate close of that and 2 more aborts for adroid.process.media.
I know it remembered my wireless, etc. again. Is there something else I need to format so it completely forgets everything so I'm starting from a clean slate? What can be causing the adroid.process.media abort and how do I get rid of it? Sometimes I think it thinks it is running on a phone, and obviously it's not - do I need to something additional for that as well?
I'm feeling quite confused right now. I've done everything from here and from what I read in the cyanogen nook color forum, but I still can't get this to work. What's the use of running cmod 7 if I can't access the google app store? Please help!
Thank you,
Dave
It works!!
Don't know WHAT I did - I just completely re-downloaded everything - the clockwork image (16gb), the cmod 7.0, and the gapps. Before installing, I went in with the existing install that wasn't working as it should and turned off several apps and cleared their cache when available. I then booted the new microSD - format data/system reset, format /system, installed cmod 7 zip and gapps zip. Removed microSD and rebooted. No more message about android.process.media aborting! It also asked me to set up my Google stuff again, so that was a step in the right direction. I then tried "Market", and IT WORKED!! It still aborts occasionally but I just go right back in and keep going. I did run into something I don't understand - the Nook for Android app page puts a message at the top saying it's not compatible with my device!! Huh? Do I need to may install cmod7.2 stable since this part is working now?
Thanks for the help!! If anyone could help me through the rest of this (get Nook for Android app, getting Kindle for Android app) then I should be good to go from there. I can always download other apps I might want, but I just want to get those 2 working first.
Thanks again!
Dave
It works and I have Kindle and Nook apps!
I updated to 7.20 stable (least wise I hope I did it right - I just flashed from zip but didn't format anything first). After that update I was able to get the B&N Nook reader and the Kindle reader apps! Everything seems to be working fine now - no aborts, nothing!
So.....a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped me out!
Thanks SO much!!
Dave :good:

Actually, downgrade doesn't seem to be necessary in your case. I would on your place first try to install ROM again as "clean installation" and it should work well.
download latest CM11 nigtly ROM
download Gapps from the opening post
paste the files on the root folder of either internal or external SD card of your i9000
reboot to recovery mode
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (under "advanced")
install zip CM11
install Gapps
reboot
enjoy
Any news about your CM11-Installation??? Does it work now with clean-install-tutorial ???

Hello, sorry for late response. I did a clean install as suggested with the 29 december nightly rom and everything works great now. The media-process sometimes makes problems, you can clean data and a few time later it will start again searching for media files ...this should work ...

I enrolled on the beta program on my Nexus 6 and allowed it to update to Android N (June build) and now I cannot install anything from the Play Store or update applications through it. I get an error every time.
I have tried:
Turning it off and on.
Disabling Play Store and clearing the cache (cannot see anywhere to uninstall updates).
What should I try next? Should I try and uninstall the Play Store and reinstall it through apk?
Clear data of Google Play Services and Play Store then try installing/updating apps.
This did not work. It still just shows "Downloading" constantly and yet nothing happens. The bar just goes across endlessly til I stop it.
It is error code 495 if that helps, I will try Googling it now...

no clue why anyone wants N at this point; very few things actually work on it, and MM has so many fantastic roms/tweaks/features right now..
Its only another month or so until its officially out; especially if you are N00B, you should really wait until then

Truth be told I don't know a great deal about Android yet. I can do some basic stuff that average phone owners can't like installing apks but I've never flashed anything. I'm not scared to try with a step by step guide though so I might try one later. I will see what version of CM is newest - does CM automatically update now? So when Android N is launched it will update? Or I'd have to flash it again?
Just restart the device and then try. Or force stop playstore and run it again. i'm using android N beta (NPD56N) since 7 days and i found no bugs yet! its working perfect on my nexus 6

I was the same way when I started with my Evo. I've come a long way since then( only less fear lol). I've learned a lot from searching first, then if I can't figure it out, there's someone on here willing to help. Trial and error is a great teacher. I don't use CM anymore. I use pureNexus.. When it comes out for N, I'm going back to it. Beanz is a great developer. Make a rom back up and start flashing.
