[Need Help] Removing .apks from FreshToast v2 - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, I'm trying to get rid of all the .apks from FreshToast that I don't use.
So far, I've run the script in this thread to remove Sense, but that still leaves a lot behind.
I pushed to AOSP DeskClock to it last night, but that caused a small problem. I did this in hopes of removing the HTC Clock and just having the AOSP clock, but now I have three total clocks (Clock (HTC), Clock (AOSP), and Desk Clock (HTC)). I also have two "Analog Clock" widget options, but one of them drops the HTC clock onto my home screen. I just want to keep the AOSP clock.
I pushed the AOSP Mms.apk and it worked flawlessly. Now I have my faster SMS speeds again
I pushed the AOSP Music.apk and rm'd the HtcMusicPlayer.apk, also worked great.
What I want to remove now are:
Weather (HTC)
Voicemail (I use Google Voice for my VVM)
I just don't know the .apk names of those apps, and I'm not one to just start blindly removing them.
And one last thing. I need the .apks for the AOSP calculator. I took apart a couple of ROMs looking for the .apks and that's the only one I was having trouble finding.
Thanks for any help

Ha, I can do everything that Root Explorer can do through ADB (or at least what I would need it for.) I'm more asking what are the things that I need to remove.

Voicemail should be Sprint_Core.apk
I use Android Commander to delete files. Just make a copy of the and if they are needed drag and drop back to /system/app

You can remove anything to do with HtcWigets. Its a little harder deleting stuff from a Sense rom then darchdroid(aosp) rom cuz alot of htc stuff is tied together.
If you arent using htc sense, then you can delete all of the htc widgets and weather animation and rosie.apk

anyone know if HTC IQAgent apk/odex is safe to remove?

remove world clock or desk clock and maintain alarm?
alright, after a few more seconds of research, i believe it should stay.
next question, i dont use the desk clock but sometimes i use my phone to set an alarm.
can i remove the world clock and maintain the desk clock and alarm? or can i remove the world clock and still have the desk clock and alarm functionality?
im just removing things... thank you thank you
edit: also gtalkservice. safe to remove? im figuring not.

Only way to know is to try, right? Nandroid first, of course. I think all the clocks are inter-related somehow on a Sense ROM, so my guess is that removing any one of the clock or alarm apk's will kinda break them all. But I've never actually tried it myself to know for 100% sure.
EDIT: I think you CAN safely remove the HTC clock widget, but why would you want to? I assume most people use the clock in its widget form on a home screen.

Many times when you try to remove Google things from your phone (ones that were already included with a ROM like gtalk), your access/login to the Market can break. Not always, but it does happen enough that most people typically don't mess with the included Google stuff.

i left the gtalkservice. i deleted google talk, nothing seemed to be affected. i dont use any widgets, i deleted those on day one. maybe ill try deleting the clock...
thanks
I deleted my WorldClock.apk no problem. I actually prefer the AOSP eclair clock and alarm clock better. Also yes, you can delete google talk, just don't delete the service. If you delete the service, it will break your Android market

hello.
do yall think itd be safe to remove the standard(stock) Internet app that comes with the phone? I use opera mini atm and soon ill be using fennec. could there be any adverse affects? the only thing i could see changing would be that the phone wouldnt question me as to which browser to use...(i dont like setting defaults. prefer one app to do a job)
thank you thank you
edit: removed... with no issues(so far)
It looks like a security researcher found out the use for this app.
Try searching this in Google: "Carrier IQ: Researcher Trevor Eckhart Outs Creepy, Hidden App Installed On Smartphones"
Essentially, it records every website you view, and every key you press on your Android phone. Even if you are on SSL, on WiFi.

Spare Parts

This is driving me nuts. So I noticed I had two icons for Spare Parts so I attempted to dump one in the trash. Didn't take.
So then I uninstalled the app but there was still an icon remaining. How the hell do I get rid of this thing?

I don't know what ROM you are running, but Spare Parts is included in CM6 and AOSP .7 I know for sure. If you want to remove it from either of those ROMs you will need to remove the apk from /system/app. I believe you can use Titanium Backup to remove it or I know you can use adb or you could use Root Explorer.
I didn't realize it was included in CM6. Thanks for the answer.

Tweaks for Master's Axura Rom

Just wondering what you guys have tweaked on Master's rom (the one I currently love using) to make it run the way you like it.
I have:
1. Reverted the dialer to the stock by copying the dialertabactivity to /system/app using root explorer
2. Found and installed a working Wifi calling apk (the first 2 I tried had various problems no incoming voice etc.)
3. Changed the system font to something a little more standard looking.
4. Changed the browser setting to Autofit Pages, so that when you double tap or turn the phone to landscape/portrait the words reorder and are easily readable. Changed the text size in Email app to small so it doesn't look huge (default is medium)
Oh and if you use his rom and enjoy it as much as I do, donate to master. His work has been beyond awesome so far.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748916 (where I got the font from, many others to choose from)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807116 (where I got the wifi calling from, using the one for htcvision)
I added the Black theme located (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845530)
And a black Multi touch keyboard ( some where in the themes section )
Guess I'm kind of not using Axura lol.
I love the Aura for battery life & speed, but the default theme is fugly.
Anyone has a way to change the notification bar to more stockish?
Thank you and god for getting rid of that crappy dialer and the font..
worst thing that master did..
thank you so much
I very much dislike the dialer too, I like the stock original dialer. Going to try and install that. Also don't like the font.
One last thing, I very much like the android keyboard, where can I get the apk for it? I'm using the htc keyboard right now, but for the life of me I can't turn of haptic feedback, even though vibration and haptic is turned off everywhere.

The theme is the only thing keeping me from giving this bad boy a test drive. I hear good comments about it but don't like the theme, I am more into ASOP kind of roms/themes.

Luck is not on my side today. Tried replacing the dial apk with the one you provided, and it says I don't have enough space. I even deleted the one master provided, then went and tried to place the one you provided into system/app still says i don't have enough space. Huh?
One other thing, I don't like how the pull down notification bar is transparent, makes reading notifications in the pull down annoying when you see other stuff below it, will changing the theme change this to a non-transparent pull down?
Brand new axura user.
Wow, that dailer is indeed ugly.
Thanks for the stock version
You can also adb push the Dialer
One of the primary reasons I stuck with Axura over Macnut or Obsidian was the beautiful theme Master has put over it.
Why would you guys use Axura and then reskin it?
ya, i just went ahead installed the Font and selected it in the settings. Much better.
I also went ahead copied the provided Dialer app and put it in System/App - again much better.
Keep coming with your tweaks bud.
We like the animation however the font is not compatible to vietnamese and the dial is not looking good. Just my though

I like Masters roms the best. The affects are great, very smooth and very fast. I like his themes as well. Not sure why people don't like the dialer its different but that is what makes it nice.
I am wondering is there a way to get the drop down icons in the notification bar back from 2.0.3 I really like those alot better than the 2.0.5 plain icons.

Are you using root explorer? If so you just have to unzip the file and drop the apk into the /system/app directory. Make sure you are in r/rw mode when you tryo to copy it or it will not let you make changes in the /system/app folder. After that just reboot the phone. You do not have to install it. Any apk in that folder wil automatically work upon reboot. It should show up as the "phone" icon in the all programs menu.
The font is terrible. It is cool for about 5 seconds and then it is just annoying and hard to read. Makes you wonder if things you can't see are as screwy as the things you can see.
Thanks for posting an alternative

Yes using root explorer. yes I unziped the file first, isolated the dialer apk. Tried moving it to system/app while in r/w but to no avail. Says not enough space.
Is there a tweek for the radio?
While I was on JI6, I was getting a strong 3G signal. Since flashing Axura, I'm mostly on edge now, my 3G signal is very weak now.
Anyone know why?

[ROM] *Update* Sense(less) rEVOlution 2.0 Inc-EVO Hybrid Jan 19, 2011

This will be the home for Senseless rEVOlution. I'm starting a new thread because the current Redemptive rEVOlution thread has over 5000 posts and it's hard enough to keep track of things for that Rom.
Summary:
Senseless rEVOlution is an Incredible/EVO hybrid with all of Sense stripped away with only the necessary parts left in tact for those who use alternative launchers such as ADW (which is used by default due to it's Open Source licensing) and Launcher Pro. This Rom is based off of my current Rom Redemptive rEVOlution.
Features & Change Log:
See my current Redemptive rEVOlution thread for a feature list for the base Rom & current Change Log http://bit.ly/gxoxSt
Is this an AOSP Rom?
NO this is not an AOSP Rom. Even though I've stripped away most of Sense it's still based on Htc Sense thus you can only use kernels and themes based on HTC Sense.
Why don't I just use Redemptive rEVOlution and install my favorite alternative Launcher?
If you find yourself using an alternative Launcher then you're not using 90% of the Sense apps so why have them installed on your system taking up precious space and and in many cases these apps are "actively syncing" information and using your precious Ram. The benefit of using Senseless rEVOlution is these apps are removed for you thus saving Space and Ram which in turn will increase overall speed and battery life.
Can I use themes made for Redemptive rEVOlution?
Absolutely! Thats another benefit of this Rom because it's using the exact same framework as Redemptive rEVOlution you can continue to use your favorite theme that you've been using on Redemptive rEVOlution. (Themer's rejoice! No porting will have to be done for this project)
Parts of Sense that have been removed:
Backup Assistant (available via flashable zip in "Sensless" folder on your SD Card)
Plugin Manager
Rosie
App Sharing
Widget Download Manager
Weather Widget
Htc Friend Stream Widget (Friend Stream has to stay to sync Facebook contacts)
Htc News Reader & Widget
Htc Music Widget
Htc FM Radio & Widget
Htc Add Program Widget
Htc Bookmark Widget
Htc Calculator Widget
Htc Contacts Widget
Htc Copyright
Htc Mail Widget
Htc Messages Widget
Htc Photo Widget
Htc Profiles Widget
Htc Ringtone Widget
Htc Settings Widget
Htc Sync Widget
Htc Weather Wallpaper
Htc Twitter Widget
Deleted all HTC Wallpapers
Bugs:
Selecting Friend Stream will prompt a Force Close
Installation:
Place HBoot .92 on Root of SD Card then boot into bootloader when asked if you want to update select Yes after update when asked if you want to reboot phone select Yes.
Flash Senseless rEVOlution via Rom Manager or by using Clockwork Mod Recovery.
All Optional Content is in the "Redemptive" folder which is pushed to your SD card during install. This folder contains various Mods that can be flashed just like a Rom using Rom Manager or by using Clockwork Mod Recovery.
Disclaimer:As with any Rom or Mod flash you are taking matters into your own hands I will not be held responsible for any bricked devices or be held responsible for the injuries you may inflict on others if this were to happen.
Restoring Apps/Data:This install will format your system. If you want to back up your apps with titanium fine but just do the apps not the data. This is my recommendation if you back up data and then have problems don't say I didn't warn you. Also please don't argue with me about the Rom wiping the system I'm the developer and this is the way I feel will provide the best non glitchy experience. As a result I can spend less time trouble shooting and more time working on the next release....Thanks guys for everything...Lou

The Rosie won't be themed since rosie isn't going to be present but all themed apps and framework including status bar stuff will still get themed just fine. Remember this rom isn't 100% Senseless, just 98%.

Patience is a virtue.
All I have to say is Woot. Great job Lou. Now have to make a decision on which to flash once I have root again. But your the man. No your better then the man.
I think I sense an AOSP Rom in the works from Lou as well...
I do have a question on the Theme part though. Some of the themes contain the apps that you are pulling out. If we are going to try this out and flash a theme, should we be pulling those out of the ZIP before flashing?
Sweet! I've been eagerly awaiting this!

The OP states that only the widget is removed because Facebook is required to sync contacts. You will still be able to sync those contact if I read it correctly.

Very good point. It won't hurt to install them however if they rely on the "Rosie" to run then it will just be wasting precious system space so I would rip them out of the zip with an archiver.

These features cannot be added to Android?

Hello,
i am using lately MIUI, and i am impressed basically with 2 features that i wished it would 've been in Android. Is it so difficult to implement these on Android?
1. Seeing the drawer with all apps, being able to create and put apps in folders and knowing which apps are not in folders.
Is it so difficult for this to be implemented in the drawer? And if you have a folder in the drawer just to drag it onto the desktop? So many times i am frustrated because i've created over 50 times folders, and they have been deleted (by mistake or intentionally). But if they are always in the drawer, i would just drag them on the desktop.
2. Dragging icons on the dock.
Again is this something so difficult to implement?

it's a question to your launcher developers. stock does not have that. Other might. No big deal though unless you spend your whole day dragging icons to the dock.
If you think these are essential components of the os then write it and send the changes to google. If they think it's important they will add your patch to the next update. But don't hope lot cause as I know they accepted only a few patches in the last years

I am definitely sure that it might be applied to Android 2.5 or 5.1 or 9.3, that at some point people would have the ability to create folders in the app drawer in order to have their programs a bit more tide up, thus why delaying things?
And about the dragging, why not simplifying the things and use dragging, rather than clicking on it, then waiting for another menu to come up then clicking to go in another menu, until you find hte app you want...
MIUI for the moment rocks, i even tried with Launcher Pro as home app and is super fast!

Hopefuly it won't happen as Google announced all non core system components will be pushed out of system to allow users easily replace them

Dont hold your breath. Default behaviour for drag&drop is element removal from home screen. Of course any home replaacement can do on its own, but never seen any (nor I miss that feature myself)
