They are in framework-res /drawable-mdpi and they are png files. Not even 9.png files, so you can edit them easily. They are called ic_jog_dial somethings....
Hope that's what you're looking for. They are called ic_jog_dial somethings....
woops. sorry. I saw that you're trying to change the text. I dont know where that is. It's definitely not a png. I've been through all the pngs. It must be in one of them xml's. Sorry!
keyguard_screen_lock.xml in framework-res.apk /res/layout Good Luck.

okay, so i have made some simple text icons to use with my theme. and i applied one to test, and it was a little small, which i can fix, but i was wondering how you guys go about positioning them? it's really out of place and i haven't a clue on how to maneuver their positions... Thank you much once again =]

That's probably in some XML files I don't know which though since I've never themed LauncherPro. You can download apkmanager and decompile the apk and look around in there.
okay, will do in a bit, when i decompile, how do i out em back together for testing etc?
and how would i go about getting/finding the xml i need?

You just select "compile" (option number 11 I think). You would have to make an update.zip and flash it to test I have no idea which XMLs it is but usually the names can lead you.
about where at in myphone would they be? lol, in system/bin?

Now that more and more themes are rolling out for the Fascinate I figured it would be time to start a Fascinate specific thread with screenshots of your layouts/themes. Ill start it off with something I finished last night. Will be changing it up probably every other day until I find something that is crazily perfect haha.

What theme/home are you running, I remember seeing someone post up about it but I cant remember what it was called and where they got it.
Old screenshots but should give you an idea of what's coming next.

I'm sorry, I don't want to be That Guy, but how do you theme widgets like that?
The one thing that's been keeping me from using them is a lack of uniformity.

Pull them, edit images, push back into system. Don't worry I will release a flashable zip for the themed widgets.
Here are mine as they go from left to right on my phone.
^^^How the hell did you get you contact pics to look that good? Mine look like a digital camera from 1991 took them, atleast in the people widget they do.
They're the pictures that I assigned to my Gmail contacts on my computer. They were taken with a 10mp camera.
Wish I knew how to do more......

I really like how you are keeping the look UltraLinx(sp?) had going. I look forward to the flashable .zip!
Quick question: I do not see some widget specific .apk's in my system/apps, so where would those be located? I'm thinking data/apps but I'm not sure. Sorry ahead of time if this is a noob question.
Thanks!

Correct on the widgets, they were actually started by someone else but lynx took over at one point.
All your system apps will be in system/app and installed or market apps in data/app.
I will release a zip that will push any themed widgets to system/app.

Pretty basic. Just using Launcher Pro Plus for the most part. Linked off my FB until I get home and upload to FTP.
Is it possible to change icons? If so, how?
My phone is rooted, and using the stock rom it came with from Sprint.
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Software: 2.27.651.5
Thanks for the help!
If you use launcher pro from the market as your launcher you can change the icons and the name too...
Long press on a blank space and add the app you want...tap on its picture to load your gallery and choose whatever icon you would like...there are plenty to download...

Hm.. That's a quick way, thanks Vandelay007. Do you happen to know a way without using Launcher Pro though? Oddly enough, I like the default launcher.

Download Desktop Visualizer from the Market. Allows you to put custom icon shortcuts anywhere on your desktop for just about anything. You can't change any of the taskbar or menu icons, but it does allow you to change/customize any icons you put on your desktop home screens.

Looks like he did... I have to say, if this guy describes himself as a noob, and he managed to search and figure out how to theme without needing to aska lot of questions, I shudder to think what we have to call the people who not only don't know what they're talking about, but also can't search for it...
You can't believe how happy I am to see search work that well. It kind of scares me how happy I am.

Haha, thanks for the compliment! It really wasn't that hard to be honest. Just resize the png, rename it, and find where to put it. Once you figure out that you can open .apk files with 7zip, the rest is a cake walk!
The problem with most n00bs is that they don't want to get their hands dirty... and the laziness! Haha.
Not much to see here. Just a modded MusicPlayer.apk to display "Music" in the launcher instead of "Music Player". Posted here on XDA for people who actually care

that doesn't change the display name, lose the attitude because you're clueless.
NICE i always thought the pink square with the pink notes was a little girly for my tastes......
I assume just flash the update zip>? no need to rename and flash zip from sd card like a new rom or theme?
You can flash it or pull it from the zip and put it in system/app with root explorer.

Sounds interesting, I went into the System ui apk, and opened "res" folder, then "drawable-hdpi", and found what I believe to be the right file, "status_bar_background.png" is this the correct file to edit for say, changing the transparency in gimp or photoshop?
I, like vdubguy, would like to know how to do this without using the kitchen.

With the new system ui API you ,have to decompile the apk and change a value as it points the background to a color code and not the image. Once you change that then you can change the image to add transperncy. You will also have to decompile it to make color changes as well
