I have the same Problem
I have the same problem. I found a Link to android where the wifi is working
1111www mega up load. com/?d=Y1VDY673 (without spaces and without the ones)
Let me know when you get data to work. thanks
thanks that link is SUPER slow on my comp, but imma let it go
i have no idea how to get data, i think it is a problem with the apn settings and i cannot find any of that information for cellular south
does anybody hav access to cell south apn data, i think that may be wats wrong because the fone says it has "3G" and the up arrow flashes but the down does not and it goes no where
Phone Number is #777
User Name: [email protected]
This user name is usually the same as your phone number.
PassWord: (ESN Hex number in all caps)
Note: ESN = MEID for CSouth Touch Diamond. You can find it behind the battery.
That's the settings for setting up in WM. I'm currently trying to figure out Android myself. I'll post my results.
Edit: Alright, I figured it out.
Create a new APN with the home key.
In server, put #777. The rest is the above information.
did that fix work?
ok this still did nothing for my diamond, what build and kernel and stuff were you using?
Nothing happen to my phone either
i am about to throw my diam500 out the window, ever since i started tinkering with android, it has NOT worked at all, to top it off, it will not sync with active sync or mount as a disk, i want OUT i want REAL android i hate winmo rite now plus my rom sucks, its slow freezes all the time and the sad part is that its the best one ive tried
Lol, Try the gtx fearless rom on ppc greeks website. just google roms for cdma htc diamond.
I'm sorry for not responding, but I seemed to have it working at first. After a soft reset, it seemed to have stopped. Right now, I'm trying to determine another way using other threads I've found across the internet.
I'll try to find a fix, if I can.
Edit: Updating to the latest rootfs, zimage, etc.. Fixed the data problem for me. The APN I have set up is called "Android", APN is "Internet", and APN Type "Default".
Also, make sure you have "msmvkeyb_toggle=off" in your cmdline area of startup.txt or else you have an annoying keyboard that won't go away on the top of the screen. I had this bug during my first turn on with update, but I put this in before booting Droid again, so it may have gone away on its own.
Awesome

Awesome, Its actually working. Thanks
Another thing I'd like to add, is that you MAY have to enter Airplane mode, then exit.
Definitely working for me 100% now, though.
anyone having the problem of the charge light working in reverse of what its suppose to?
my charge light pulses when the phone is not charging and is off when the phone is charging. I wasn't sure if this was a cellular south problem or an overall problem.....or if I screwed something up
Had my phone for a few months now and recently found that it can't connect to my secure network at home.
When I turn wifi on I get the dreaded connect/disconnect message while it constantly tries to connect to my network. If I leave it on then the battery will drain overnight while the phone tries to connect. I have an iphone which connects to the network no problem. As does my laptop etc
To try to fix this I deleted all my new apps, especially the push ones which give me news updates, etc but this has made no difference.
The weird thing is if I turn off my router's security then the phone will connect and works perfectly fine. I've tried using all the different security settings (even WPS) with new passwords etc and everything seems to setup fine on the phone except it just doesn't want to connect (or more accurately stays connected for a microsecond).
If I go back to an open network it connects immediately and stays connected.
I think this is the root cause of the wifi connection problems that many other people are getting. But I'm at a loss to try to understand why it won't pick up a secure network but works fine otherwise.
My phone is using 2.2.1 and has been rooted
Any thoughts?

Root the problem highly unlikely ..
Secure home network test .
Remove security from Router that is no password .
Remove that connection from phone .
Reboot phone let it pick up router and connect .
If it does then delete reset router password and add in phone .

Thanks for suggested fix. I'll give it a go and let you know if it worked.
Root was a bad choice of word..... I meant that while looking for a solution to my wifi problem I noticed many other people complaining that they can't connect to a wifi network for one reason or another and I was thinking that maybe broken security is a common cause of many wifi connection issues.. In my case there was nothing physical at all to suggest that security was an issue, especially since all my other devices work fine on the same network.
Cheers
Hi, tried your suggestion but I still cant connect. The first time I rebooted the phone it knocked out my internet connection! I've setup a static IP address for my PC and the phone was insisting on trying to connect using the same address and creating a conflict. I fixed that so that's not the issue.
This is what I've tried..
I checked to make sure DHCP was enabled in the router, rebooted everything. No luck.
I tried adding an IP Address Reservation for the phone and assigning a dedicated static IP Address. No luck either
I tried connecting the device using WPS. It all went as it should - my router saw the device, added the mac address to the list of devices etc. The phone acknowledged the handshake. But again it still wont connect.
I checked the router log and it says "DHCP IP: (192.168.1.2)] to MAC address B4:07:F9:336:3D, Tuesday, May 24,2011 03:08:48" which I think is what it should say.
OK I've just fixed it!!! Or at least its connected.
All along I've been securing the network with WPA2-PSK. I just changed it to WEP and the phone connected immediately. I hadn't considered WEP because I read that its not that secure and I do all my banking etc through my PC.
I've tried all the other security options and only WEP works with the phone. I suspect its a compatibility problem between the phone and my router (a Netgear WNT834B v2) because both the phone and router work independently but not very well together. There's plenty of posts discussing the Galaxy S connecting to WPA networks so it can do it.
Now, after trying all the other security options. It won't connect again even on WEP. Bummer. It is acting slightly differently in that its trying to acquire an IP address instead of simply not connecting, although it doesn't seem to be able to find one.
I need to try this on a friends network and see if the router or the phone is to blame. I've no idea... but the phone's a bit too touchy for my liking
I had a similar issue, I had to reflash the ROM to get it to work. Backup all your contacts and stuff and then do a full factory resetting. See if that helps, if it doesnt, reflash the ROM. It should work.
Well I've spent the last few days looking into this issue and it's considerably more widespread than I first realised. The problem is that while many people have a wifi connection issue we all seem to have variations on a theme.
As I say in my case the phone will connect and stay connected to an open network but won't touch a secure one. I tried many suggested fixes and nothing's worked so I am now trying a factory reset.
A couple of questions: there appears to be two ways to do this, a factory data reset through the phone menu; and a hard reset using a combination of volume buttons, etc. The hard reset seems to be the deeper of the two.
When you say full factory setting which one did you mean? I am currently data resetting and therefore using the "authorised" Samsung reset
But how long does this process take? My phone has had a black screen and been vibrating every 10 seconds or so for the last hour. It's getting quite hot and there appears to be no end in sight. Has the phone hung or something? If it has how do I get out of this without bricking the phone? It's beginning to concern me because I'll have to do something real soon.
As an aside, in my search for a solution I found something that might help someone people (it didn't work for me). According to the bloke who posted it, the problem for everyone is that the wifi drivers have not been installed properly and if you enter *#*#526#*#* on your keypad it unlocks a service access that reinstalls the wifi driver. I tried it and the phone told me the software was installed successfully but no change.
Waited long enough so pulled the battery out and restarted the phone. I get the startup screen but after that the screen goes black and it vibrates again every ten secs and I can't get in.
Have to try the other reset.....
Things are going from bad to worse..
Have managed to start a full factory reset using the volume, power and home button but it's gone back into the black screen and vibrating every ten seconds.
I know Im going off topic here but Ive now reset the phone, wiped the cache, tried to apply the sd card update (aborted because it can't find the directory) and it always comes back to the black screen and vibrating every ten secs.
Am now trying to reflash the rom. Oden reports that the flash was successful but the phone wont reboot. I tried a couple of times - one with Re-Partion checked and the other unchecked but neither will reboot. What could be causing that? I somehow remember that my firmware was JPH but I could only get hold of JPK. Could that be the cause?
I seem to have solved all the issues at last. Thought it was going to be a bit over my head for a spell.
Once I discovered that the only way I was going to get into my phone was by flashing the rom the first problem I came across was I didn't know which firmware my phone was using previously, apart from the fact it was 2.2.1 and from Asia. I guessed wrongly and after "successfully" flashing the phone it wouldn't reboot. I then noticed that there were only three variations of the 2.2.1 firmware for my region. The second one I tried went a little further than the first but I got an error message about the SD card. The third one installed no problem.
So I instantly checked the wifi signal and the phone connected to the secured network. And stays connected - so far about an hour and a half.
It's amazing how the phone deteriorated the way it did. Hope it doesn't do it again.
Thanks for any help/suggestions
So my wifi will see networks, try and connect, then instantly disconnect and repeat. This problem has occurred for the last two roms that I installed. I don't think it is a problem with the rom because one, I havnt read so anywhere, two, i have tried installing and reinstalling and reinstalling again many many times. When I install a new rom, I always factory wipe, cache wipe, and dalvik wipe.
I am currently on Apex latest rom.
Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it? It is driving me crazy not having wifi!
EDIT
so it seems by toggling airplane mode on n off, the problem has been fixed. sorry for making this thread
so i thought airplane mode works, but it only did for a lil then keeps messing up. can anyone help please?

Don't know if this will work for you or not. Some have had success...
Go into WiFi settings and 'forget' your network(s), then reset your router/switch and then turn your WiFi back on. Sometimes it will reestablish with the right permissions.
ya i have tried that too. i don't understand what the problem is. I'm bout to just give up

My problem is similar, it sees my home network and connects (and stays connected), but when I try to access the internet or markets, it says network error and won't let me connect. When I switch back to 3g and WiFi off, now I can hook up to internet and markets.
I'm checking into my wireless router. It might be the problem, tho my wife's computer is hooked up wirelessly and it seems fine, no problems, so idk.
Last week, my Hero suddenly stopped being able to see my home network. All the other networks around me are visible, but not my home network. I tried the Wi-Fi FXR app on the market, but that didn't work at all. Did a full wipe and installed a fresh new ROM, and I *still* can't see my network. Even manually entering the info for it did nothing.
I can connect to other networks on my Hero, and all my other devices at home can see and connect to my network perfectly fine. Does anybody have any idea what else I can try? Having tried a different ROM and a full wipe of everything, I'm at a loss now.
Edit: Tried actually *formatting* system/data/cache, then installing a different ROM (CM6 this time). Still no luck. My home network never shows up on the list, but all others do. Rebooted my modem and router, even changed the security to just WEP (was WPA2 before, which worked just fine before this randomly happened). I can't understand how, without doing anything, my Hero just suddenly refuses to see my wireless network. It can't just suddenly be incompatible with my router after working just fine with dozens of ROMs and a couple years under their belt.
i feel your pain
when i turn on wifi on my hero, no matter what rom it is, i can see all the other access points right away. but my ssid wont pop up, i have to wait a good 3 minutes until it pops up and connects. have you tried waiting longer for it to show up? worth a shot.
I tried letting it sit for at least 5-10 minutes. I'll let it sit next to my router for a longer time and see if that does anything.
I let it sit for a few hours, but nothing popped up. Tried a few hours with and without the network being manually saved for connecting to. Definitely something odd going on here. Also tried connecting to other networks to see if maybe it'd do something, but that didn't make my home network show up either. I'm at a dead-end here, and I assume the lack of replies means nobody else has any other ideas either... lol.
the only thing i can tell you is ruu that sucker, usually when something goes haywire stock will fix it. hope you get it working, sounds like a major pain
edit: if your up to it, flash a stock rom from clockworkmod recovery and try it before going the ruu route, its worth a shot. i see you tried cyanogenmod, couldnt hurt to try a stock rom.
Thanks, I forgot about that. After so many Android phones, I start to forget which tricks fix which phones... lol. Currently I'm used to "Superwipe your phone if anything goes wrong". Unfortunately, I know of no such thing for the Hero.
But running an RUU is a great idea, and I should've thought of it. I'll be doing that out as soon as I get off work
Edit: Just installed an official RUU successfully, but... still can't find my wireless network. Seriously... I have no idea how that couldn't work. The router is fine, the phone is fine, and they've communicated with each other just fine for the last two years. Nothing has changed for this to happen. For as complete a wipe as installing an RUU does, this just doesn't make any sense.
Try changing your router to chanel 11. Then in your hero WiFi settings make sure its on 11 as well. See if that helps.

Have you checked the settings on your router? It may be that somehow your router blocks your Mac address or something like that.
Sent from my Hero CDMA.
I just got a note 5 from my local carrier(GCI) and Im having a weird issue where if I turn my wifi radio off then I have to re-enter my wifi passwords, sometimes it will happen at random.
Does any know of a fix for this? I tried doing a factory reset, running in safe mode, using the phone without signing into anything but nothing seemed to have worked.
So I was able to rule out any third party software and my google backup reseting the wifi data to blank.
I went and asked them about it and they told there isn't much they could do other then to get a different phone because if I get another note 5 then I will most likely have the same problem because they had someone else complain about it.
My assumption is the problem is software, the rom is by a company by fastbootmobile at least that is what the update page shows.
My next step to fix this was to root and install a custom rom but I want to be sure the problem is software and not hardware.
