As the title says my LED on my trackball is stuck green. It started while using Cyanogen's latest rom. Dont know if this has anything to do with using mulitple ROMs and going back and forth between Sense UI and Cyanogen. I have done full wipes between switching roms but have also done Titanium Backup restore after the Roms boot.
I have deleted everything off my SD card (except music, pictures, and a couple update.zips) and done a full wipe in bootloader, ran Titanium Backup batch to delete backup files, and flashed a Desire rom and this problem continues... Any suggestions on how to get this problem fixed? I know i must be missing deleting/wiping something but I cant figure it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. The trackball will flash other colors for notifications but reverts back to a constant green.
and you've done a full wipe of the data, caches (inc dalvik) and battery & rotating settings?
and you aren't doing a nandroid restore?

Yea. I'm using the amon-ra recovery image. And I did all the wipes that are available in his recovery. Also not doing any nandroid restores. I deleted all my nan backups to make sure they wernt causing problems.
Tried the tutorial to restore to original shipping ROM and settings to get the trackball LED to shut off. Also, I removed my SD card when doing these steps and rebooting.
DIDNT WORK :-( Nothing seems to get rid of/override the setting that is making the trackball stay lit. The ball also stays lit when in fastboot and recovery. Also stays lit when turned off but plugged into USB/charger...
Anyone else have any ideas? Willing to try about anything...
Have you tried pulling the battery out?

Yup, and when connected to USB/charger it lights up green...
Try the "LEDs Hack" app to see if it can turn it off, and then back on.
Maybe its a firmware/hardware problem
My LED is stuck at purple when I set it to flash white. Not a big deal for me, it isn't set to flash white anyway.
Just flashed cyanogen and tried "led hack" no luck. Other suggestions?
Constant GREEN trackball LED
Hi, I have exactly the same problem. Constant GREEN trackball. It does change colors etc but goes back to GREEN. Tried everything possible, but no luck.
There is Google thread which I cant post here where a good few people are having this issue.
If anyone knows a solution, that will be great
My only worry is that the trackball will use battery unnecessary..!!!
green trackball
I have the same issue with my nexus. Its been going on for a while. I've posted on this forum with no replies. I thought I was the only one.
Man I am still waiting for a solution
Is there any solution for this
My phone has the exact same issue and has been "stuck" with the green trackball for a couple weeks now. I've rooted, wiped, tried every trackball program and nothing shuts off the green trackball. Please anyone help
I had the same problem even if it was for only 1hr my trackball light was staying the color red and would not change back. I knew why the trackball was red because there was some water that got on the bottom of my nexus one. what I did and I don't know if this will fix the problem for any of you guys but I took the bottom cover off and made sure it was dry and free of dust then I removed the battery and it changed back to normal.
Try a stock rom

My phone has the same issue. I also tried everything including old stock roms and radio images.
I think replacing the trackball flex cable might fix it (no warranty for me..)
Your phone is under warranty.
Did anyone found a solution for this one?
I guess it is not software related but HW.. I get the green led working even when the battery is out and I connect the phone to the power supply...
should I open my Nexus up and clean the contacts?
this sucks... maybe it's a sign to move on to the Nexus S...
I solved this problem this morning using silicagel. Check my post on CM forum CyanogenMod Forum> Google Nexus One> Google Nexus One Stable Mod>Trackball led wont turn off

I've been in this rooting game since it began, and I never had a major issue.
Unfortunately now I have come across one, and I believe it may be a Hardware problem, but I'm not entirely sure.
At any rate, the other day I'm on the computer the phone is charging through the usb cable, and while im using it, the back light goes out. I think this is weird.
I lock, and unlock it and everything is back to normal, but when I slid the screen back the back light went out again.
And the home button didn't work either, I doubt this was a problem with Cyan's ROM, or a theme. I do have the new lockscreen but I never had an issue.
So from Cyan's 4.0.4 I upgrade to the experimental version and the problem persists, the back light won't turn on unless the screen is slid up/open (Also, I have no lock screen!? wtf?).
Afterwards I decide to go back to 4.0.4 and even when my phone boots up the back light wont turn on unless the phone is open/screen is slid up. So obviously it seems like a hardware issue.
Anyone else have this problem? or any thoughts about it?
I'm on Cyan's 4.0.4 - no theme

reset your phone. hit call, menu and power at the same time. then let us know how everything works.
Funny things happen when you don't wipe, make a nandroid backup of your current setup and than wipe and flash again and see if it persits
I tried both of those suggestions but they didn't work at all.
Lame, like I said it might be a hardware problem, so I might have to just call them

This is a hardware problem. Happened to me too. Been trying to find a solution, but the fact that it still has the same backlight problems when the phone is booting (On the T-mobile G1 screen) shows that's it's way beyond the ROM.
Mine even has the same problems on the recovery screen. Time to find a new G1. If you find a solution, lemmie know. I've been looking for one.
hello all, i searched the forum and couldn't find an answer. here is the problem... i am running cyan 4.0.4(stable) everything was running fine... i woke up this morning and found out that the backlights on my g1 buttons wont turn off... so the call, end, home, back buttons the light won't turn off. tried rebooting and reflashing but still nothing.... and also its a white G1 if it makes a difference. anyone? thanks in advance...

no wipe.. id din't wanna have to install all my apps one bye one agian.. such a pain..i have 142 apps.. any other suggestions? i ordered a replacement from t-mobile anyway..
DUDE! INSTALL "BACKUP FOR ROOT USERS" it saves EVERYTHING about your phone to a folder in your sd card. what do i mean by everything? settings, apps, dictionary...install that THEN wipe then go to the market and redownload it and restore your stuff. if you have 142 apps it might take like 10 minutes for ALL of the to show up again.
Hi, I have an AT&T Nexus One, running FRF85B currently. As of lately, even before update I noticed my home and search button stopped working. The haptic feedback responds when I touch them but they don't do anything. I searched the forums so please don't flame me if I missed a thread. Much thanks to anyone that can help!
P.S. I soft reset the phone a few times and also have reflashed
can you post a logcat of what happens when you press the buttons? and also try wiping cache and dalvik cache
Try to wipe and reflash and post logcat
Gfs stock phone just started doing this. Will try to get some kind of logs... A reset wouldn't make her very happy, fffuuuu

according to this we arent the only ones. it looks like a factory reset can fix the problem, but some on the link above re-encountered the problem weeks later.
surprised XDA hasnt run into this before...
in addition to home/search buttons haptic'in but not doing anything, slide lock screen goes away and the phones cannot receive calls.
Those buttons are programmable, maybe some app took control and does nothing ?A launcher perhaps?
'Programmable'? How can I set Search to ixquick?

doesnt make sense though, everyone that has had this issue had all 3 completely unrelated issues:
1. buttons vibrate, do nothing
2. phone cannot receive calls
3. lock screen disappears
a wipe fixed it last night but man it was a ***** to reinstall everything for her.

So i started having this problem about 3 weeks ago as well right after i flashed CM7's newest experimental build. first thing I witnessed was not being able to receive calls. I figured that this was a problem with CM7 and flashed modaco's r26, after a full wipe, when it just came out a few days ago. After a day, i got the problem with the lock screen and the home and search buttons not working. I again thought this was a problem with gingerbread for some reason and flashed MIUI Mod Rodriguez style rom, again full wipe. I had restored everything through titanium backup and other forms of recovery and within about 60 minutes my home button and search keys stopped working.
So I finally figured that it was some settings that I must have adjusted and carried through numerous different ROMs that caused the problems. So next time around I didn't restore anything, running on MIUI mod, and didn't restore anything for the remainder of the day to see what happened. Low and behold, after a reset the problem came back. One other complication is that the phone will always forget my google account and i'll have to re-connect it. Then I realize that the home key doesn't work. So even not importing anything from my old Rom's with a clean wipe didn't get rid of it.
I still get haptic feedback, but the buttons just don't do anything. I changed the setting for how home and search respond in both scenarios and can't get any response either. I flashed back to an old version now and so far i'm alright. But if someone can figure out why this is happening that would be awesome.
For the other people who are having this problem, when you're doing a clean wipe are you then restoring things back via titanium back up or otherwise? and when did you first start to experience these problems?
Istarted having this same problem today. I recently flashed over to cm7 rc2 and then the same thing happened. It seems like after I do a titanium backup and then change a setting it will reset to the cm boot screen and when it comes back there's no home screen or search buttons. All the same issues. Haptic feedback works but nothing happens. I'm on an evo btw.
Same thing occuring for me after flashing CM7. Reverted back to Miui, but so far no luck in fixing this. Numerous factory resets have yet to resolve as well. This is pretty frustrating...
Having this issue as well on CM7. DEFINITELY Titanium related.
I had this problem too. I just had to shut down the phone then leave it for about 10-15 minutes then turn it on again. Everything should be fine again. ^^
Ever since i manually updated to frf91 sometimes when i try to wake my phone my screen freezes an i can't unlock it also when i try to power my phone back on it will vibrate 7 times an it wont come on. I guts take the battery out an put it back it to get my phone to turn back on. I've never had this problem until i manually updated my phone. I did a factory reset an it helped for a while but the problems come back. Has anyone had this problem an does anyone know how i can fix this? I'd really appreciate any help i can get
Help please
Is the bootloader unlocked?
this seems to be a common issue with FRF91, although most people's phones will unfreeze after a minute or two, does your backlight turn on and off when you press the power button?

ya i have had to as well but most of the time it wakes just fine
No my bootloader is not unlocked an yea the backlight will come on but it won't unlock. Ive never tried waitin a min to see if it fixes itself i just usually pull the battery when it happens an sometimes when i try to turn my phone back on it does the 7 vibrating thing. Like i said before it never happened until frf91
I have an app called AutoKiller installed. It tweaks the Android system's inner memory management routines. it was set to something other than default. I changed it back to default, and haven't had a problem since. if you have this installed, maybe try and switch it to default settings.
Sounds like a data issue. A factory reset only wipes user data, You must wipe in recovery to wipe rom data. Also make sure you have the correct radio for the build especially coming from lower build. If that's the issue flash radio first to support the build. Then flash the rom.

How do u wipe in recovery? Yea im a newb lol
Also if i wipe in recovery will i still be on 2.2 or will i have to update to it again?
Hi, I have a problem with my HTC One. Yesterday, when I was using my phone, I realised the LED light was stuck on red. I've restarted my phone and the issue still stayed. Then, I power down the phone, and the LED light was not showing, but after I turned on the phone, the LED light also turned on. I've tried to wipe my data from the recovery, but the issue still stayed. Then I charged my phone until the green light was turned on, but after I unplugged my phone the red light won't turn off. The phone hasn't been dropped recently. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this? The phone is not under warranty. Thanks in advance.

Afaik, the red LED on HTC's phones is either indicating the phone is charging, low power, overheating condition or some other hardware problem.
Would recommend you to factory reset first to determine if its not software related (bug from an app for example) Anyway, this is usually the first thing HTC told you to try when you call them for support.
If the issue persist after a factory reset, post back here.
Don't forget to backup your files before the reset.

I'm using Android Revolution HD 84.0 and ElementalX-m7 18.0.

Is there any mod that can completely disable this freaking red light/charging light? It's annoying. And one more thing that makes me mad is my warranty was just expired a month ago.

I have returned completely to stock, but the issue still persist. If there is no other way, I'll send my phone to repair.
I went to HTC service center and they said minimum cost to repair is $100 USD and if the problem is on motherboard, it will cost more than $200. I don't know if it worth it.
Should I send my device to repair?
