define .nbh....?
i'll just make a zip of the entire contents of the 1.56 RUU and give you the link... brb

That will work...
Thank you...

What's a .nbh?

seriously... could you define, .nbh please??
because there is no file w/ an extension .nbh

NBH is a packaging format. Basically it's "most" of a ROM... The windows guys use them all the time in the kitchen's to create RUU's which are flashed to the phone using a utility. We flash files to the phone using .img files... if you look inside our RUU releases, you'll see boot.img, data.img, system.img, etc.

Ah, thanks for the definition.. this is the FULL RUU extract, but I extracted the rom.zip too, so everything is here.

In an Android RUU, those are "Rom.zip"

a .nbh is a windows mobile rom

Here is the issue...
I am trying to downgrade a STOCK installed 2.1 Sprint Hero to 1.5 so we can install a custom rom and flash to another CDMA carrier.
The phone was flashed and ROOTED but the customer installed the UPDATE...
Here we are now...
Unable to do anything...
I have downgraded other HTC Android devices before using the .NBH file.
Example: HTC G1 using a dreaimg.nbh on a fat32 memory card in bootloader mode.
I'm trying the same with the Sprint HERO... any ideas?

2.1 Sprint Released ROM has not been rooted yet... As soon as it is, you'll be good to go. Considering it was just released today, I wouldn't expect root already.

but which one i have to choose?
thanks.
You can choose "RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1". Its the latest Eclair ROM.
U need root for this right?
For flashing a RUU, you dont need root. Just download the EXE, connect your device to your PC, and run it.

I think you can extract the files from the executable then and just flash them after a wipe. Not sure though.
you cannot unroot using a RUU in Linux.
for using a RUU you need windows xp

Does RUU not check the installed version? I thought RUU would just push the rom.zip and allow the update like any other rom flash with its update_script that checks if it is a valid update.

Sorry mate, I am really not aware of this, and, it will be best if you try it out. If it does need root, the process will likely fail, and, no harm will be done.

[Q] Flash RUU on Bell Incredible S

Hi guys,
I'm using a Bell Incredible S that I just S-OFFed with the alpharevx tool. Now I'd like to flash my phone with the WWE Gingerbread RUU (RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.12.405.7_Radio_20 .2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M_release_187295_sign ed), but there is something i can't quite figure out.
In the bootloader, it says my phone is S-OFF.
So I downloaded the RUU, got the rom.zip file from temp folder, renamed it to PG32IMG.zip and transfered it to the root of my SD card.
Then I booted the phone in bootloader, it loaded the file and finally said "Model ID Incorrect".
Anyone knows why it isn't working? I read a lot of threads and seems like it should work even though my phone is with Bell if it's S-OFF. Is there a step that I've skipped or that I should've done that I have not?
Hope that someone can help me out!
Thanks

When you get the Model ID is incorrect, then that means that you need to flash the RUU using a goldcard because the S-OFF process did not change your CID (carrier id). A goldcard lets you flash ROMs that has a different CID than your device does.
A lot of people here said it was impossible to flash stock roms on the IS from Bell with the goldcard method. Will it be the same for me or is it supposed to work now since I'm S-OFF.
If that doesn't change anything for the goldcard method and I can't flash the stock rom, so why would I want my device S-OFF? I want in any possible way install Gingerbread on my phone.
Thanks for any help!
(I read a lot of topics about this and know how to root or install roms, but I think the problem is my phone is from Bell, and I know some people had problems with Bell ISs, so if someone knows! it kills me not to have Gingerbread on it now!)

Now that you are S-OFF'd, you can flash any of the GB ROM in the development section.
If you cant flash the device isn't properly s-off sadly I had the same issue with my bell incredible s but I just re did with the xtc clip but ya with that error u may re need to do the process

[Q] Stock image / rom

Well, I've been trying to use some custom roms and after all I restored the backup I made before, everything fine.
Today I wanted to try to use a custom rom again but it wouldn't work so I decided to wait for the official ICS release for the IncS. And here we get to my problem: When I restore the backup, and manually flash the boot.img (have to do this manually, got S-ON) and I boot my phone it gets to the HTC bootscreen, reboots and automatically gets to the CWM recovery.
Can anyone provide me an original boot.img (I haven't found it yet) or the whole standard android rom? If you have another solution, I would like to hear it!

You can find the latest OTA in the Android Dev section. If you would use the search function ( yeah we really have a "search" function.. ) you would easily find it. If you want your boot.img we do need what for a Rom from which carrier you got.

I have just been reviewing your posts and you posted that you applied the OTA and received HBOOT 2.01.0001, correct?
Then the RUU/ROM you need is the 3.11.405.2 version.
You also stated that you were able to unlock HBOOT 2.01.0001 using the HTCDEV.com site, correct? Which custom recovery did you install after that?

That's all correct, I installed the CWM recovery after that, not sure which version, the most recent one if I'm sure. I notice that the RUU/ROMS are .exe, do I flash these the same way as a .zip rom?

No, you run the exe on a PC and follow the directions on the screens. The program will tell you when to connect your phone to the PC using the USB cable.
This will completely wipe your phone and reload the ROM. Your HBOOT screen will probably show RELOCKED and you will need to unlock it again. Please confirm.

You can sync your contacts to your Google/Gmail account or save them to your SD cards. You can use Titanium Backup to backup apps and some settings.
Well this sucks: The ROM Updatestff can't update the Android hpone. Get the right ROM Update program and try again.

Returning back to stock while keeping root

Hi everyone!
This is my first post, since I never had any trouble toying around with my device. I have a rooted Incredible S, that ran MIUI perfectly. I want to return back to stock (this is imperative) and use the official ICS by HTC. I tried putting back my nandroid backup, which didn't work (perhaps an incompatible radio? I have no idea...). That's when I downloaded a stock, cracked ROM from a thread I found here. This is a Gingerbread ROM with Sence 3.0 I think. Obviously, I can't get the OTA to work. I think the issue here is that my recovery is still CWM, and that OTA only works with the stock recovery (this is what I concluded from research).
This is where I'm having trouble. A RUU doesn't seem to recognise my device, so that's not an option right now. Windows recognises my SD card when I hook up my phone through USB, so I can install ROMs just fine. Is there any way to get the stock recovery and the stock ROM without using a RUU, while keeping my device rooted? I really want all of this to be stock, so no mods, hacks or tweaks. I want my phone to be in the same state as when I bought it and rooted it, before installing custom ROMS. Is this possible?
Many, many thanks in advance!

Hey mate, official welcome from me Second welcome from me today lol
I would advise against going s-on and fully stock.
You cannot run a ruu or ota with a custom recovery/root.
So the easiest way to get the stock experience you want is by flashing one of tpbklake's rooted stock roms. They are basically stock roms with root and can run on a custom recovery. No tweaks or anything

The link above (top one) is based off a newer ruu from asia, although there is not much difference
I would also suggest to try ARHD 3.0.x for the stock optimised rom
Also which bootloader version do you have?

Yes there a some ROMs in the Development section that are completely stock that you can flash through recovery.
The original GB 2.3.3/Sense 2.1, the GB 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 and the latest ICS 4.0.4/Sense 3.6

I'm going to sell my device so I need it back the way it was. I want to keep it rooted though, so that the next owner can decide for himself what he wants to do with it. If he he's no techie, he can enjoy the device in stock (including OTAs, or can this be done like you mentioned?). If whe wants to toy with it, he can do that too. If it's easier to just go back to stock entirely, that's fine too.
It seems that I can no longer get into hboot now? After installing that hacked gingerbread, my device just boots into Android when pressing volume down and power??
tpbklake, I'll try to flash one of those when I can get back into recovery
Weird.. Taking out the battery fixed my recovery issue. I'll flash that ROM
Btw I seem to have hboot 6.13.1002 and radio 3805.06.03.03_M. Is this the info you need?

Yes
But since you want stock it won't matter
You CANNOT have both root and ota updates
Either one or the other unfortunately
You have to make a choice a rooted stock ROM will be identical to the official ota from htc but you will be able to keep root, but can't get ota updates
but unfortunately I think sense 3.6 4.0.4 is the last update
But, I have been proven wrong before

K then in my case a full stock device would be best. How do I get started with this? First install a stock ROM, then the stock recovery and then put It back in S-OFF? Which ROM should I install (would prefer the stock 2.3.3)? And where can I find the recovery? Sorry for the basic questions but those lists of ROMs can get a bit complicated..
Still getting nowhere If I flash a stock ROM in CWM, my recovery won't go back to stock, will it? Shouldn't I try to get the stock recovery first and then use a RUU? Problem is that I can't seem to find a stock recovery anywhere. And when I extract the ROM from a RUU, it's only about 180 MB, so that can't be right, can it?

What region of the world are you in? I would recommend the HTC WWE 2.30.405.1.

Belgium (Brussels), western Europe. I bought the device here so it should be pretty local... I'll try that one. What does the WWE mean? (Just for the info)

Ah, perfect! Canceled my download, but there's a 20 minute interval before starting a new one, so it'll take me at least an hour to download it.
I've encountered this issue before, but randomness seemed to solve it back then: a fastboot command just displays "<waiting for device>" and then keeps hanging there. "fastboot devices" returns an empty line, so that's consistent. Phone is in fastboot USB mode, so I'm not sure what could be the issue?
And then I have a question. In that guide, it says that I should extract HBOOT.img from the rom I installed. In my case, my rom only contains a file named "hboot_1.13.0000_CRC_8a731c6e_0401.img" (along with others of course, but I assume they are redundant in this step); will that one do?

Sounds like it may be a port issue, cable issue or driver issue on the PC.
Have you tried different ports or a different cable? Do you have HTC Sync running in the System Tray on the PC?
As for the hboot file, yes that is the one.

I thought you wanted to go to stock ICS? Hboot 1.13 it a gingerbread hboot. If you just flash the vivo_downgrade.img then run the ruu, there will be no need to extract and flash the hboot from the ruu.

No I wanted it back the way I wanted it. Rom, recovery,... all stock. But surely I'll give ICS a testdrive via OTA

HTC Desire 510 - Problem overwriting memory block

Hi Guys,
Step 1.
I've dumped /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 which is called "Board info"from my HTC onto my computer and opened it with Hex editor.
Step 2.
This file contained some data and CID followed by IMEI. I've edited the CID to 11111111 HOPING that I'll get a superCID. I've overwritten the existing /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 file with my modified file. Operation succesfull and no problems shown by ADB.
Step 3.
I verified if I've done Step 2 correctly by repeating Step 1 and surprisingly the /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 doesn't seem to be overwritten which makes me really sad and I'd really appreciate if someone would be so kind enough to help me by answering why are my changes not taking effect ?
P.S. I've had the whole /dev partition remounted to be read/write as well as that to be extra sure I've changed permissions to 777 for /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 but I'm stuck at step 3, the only answers that come to me are that either I'm doing something wrong or the phone doesn't allow me to overwrite mem blocks.
PLX help :crying:

Thanks for your answer, I wasn't aware of that. You probably know the next question though - How do I get S-OFF ? I've tried an app called *SunShine* but I've had no success with it because it threw an error saying that I need to have a different ROM for the app to work. Ironically the reason I want superCID is to get a different ROM onto my phone ...

Sunshine does work 100% I can vouch for it. You simply need to go back to complete stock by using an RUU once your phone is completely stock including the stock recovery you can either ask me here for help with it or find @jcase over on his website theroot.ninja and I'm sure he will be more than happy to assist you with it... One other thing though if you're using a 64 bit phone it's not going to work with the sunshine app.

I have stock RUU downloaded and waiting but I can't install it because it's CID doesn't match with my phone CID. That's why I want superCID and that's what I meant when I said I want to get a "different ROM on my phone" , I should have made myself clearer in the last post. I'm currently running CynanogenMod 12.
So far I've tried the GoldCard maneuver and dumping memory block followed by hex editing and re-dumping it onto my phone (hence this thread) as well as the above mentioned SunShine app.
It feels like I'm drastically running out of options here, do you have any other advice ?

You really don't even need to be going through any of that crap if all you want is to use another rom... All you need to do is get an unlock code from HTC by giving them the token from your phone then you flash the unlock_code.bin and then flash a recovery of your choice I use twrp 3.0 at the moment because it's the newest one and make sure it's specifically for the HTC Desire 510 or it won't work after you flash the recovery you make a backup of your system before doing anything else so you have something to fall back on just in case and then you download the rom you want to either the sd card in the phone or to a computer and flash it and voila new rom... I suggest you search how to unlock the HTC Desire 510 bootloader and then search for how to root the HTC Desire 510 and after you read the step by step instructions you'll be able to get the rom on your phone... You'll need to install minimal adb and fastboot to c: drive to flash anything at all so download that too.

I've got it all done otherwise I wouldn't be running CynanogenMod 12 which I mentioned above. The thing is I don't have the backup I made for my original ROM. After an extensive research I've found a stock ROM which is suitable for my phone but it is not in the form of an image or zip file. It's a .exe Rom Update Utility (RUU) hence I'm dealing with all the stuff I've outlined in my previous post and looking for more help.

So I'm guessing you're using the CM12.1 that patrik made because the other one doesn't really work correctly and that leads me to believe your phone is a 64 bit then correct? What phone carrier are you using? I need a name.

Yes, Precisely CM 12.1-20151110-UNOFFICIAL-a11ul by patrik. Yes, my phone is 64 bit indeed. As for the carrier I've bought my phone unlocked so I don't know the original carrier, however, after investigating into my CID which is HTC__052 it turns out that Tesco is my carrier BUT I was using my phone with Vodafone UK the entire time and that's the RUU that I was trying to flash onto my phone with no success so far...

Because the Vodafone' CID isn't HTC__052 so you'll need to flash the Tesco one and you really don't have much of a choice at this point because there's no s-off for the HTC Desire 510 64bit and you unfortunately cannot change your CID without being s-off so your best bet to get stock back is to use Tesco if there's even one available.

Where are you downloading the rom from so I can look at it on my system and see if I can change the CID of it to match your phone.

I'm not sure which one you downloaded since it's showing me a whole list of them. If you find that the files are corrupted that's why they won't work.. in any case, do you have the unlock_code.bin from HTC? Save it forever.
Download this and place it in the backup folder on your sd card and then boot into recovery and flash it...

Are you sure? Did you try to boot it? Some people even have to extract the boot.img and flash it after the installation process finishes. What recovery are you using? Did you do a wipe on the partitions before flashing?
Yes I booted it and prior to writing my previous post I opened up the fastboot and tried fastboot flash of boot.img that I've extracted from that archive, the phone rebooted and that's about it, no changes made.

I changed it to match your CID so it would work. I made it awhile ago I just had it on the sd card so I changed the CID to yours and uploaded it.
